"The Old Pastor"

Render therefore...honour to whom honour."  Romans 13:7

The old pastor was tired, and it seemed that the weight
of the world was on his shoulder.
Seems the battles grew harder as he became older.
Although he had fought many battles over the years,
His strength was now ebbing, replaced by fears.
Seemed some of the young ones wanted a preacher with more personality.
They were tired of that old preacher and his originality.
Oh, they talked around and let it be known,
That they wanted to change the old church home.
Let's get another preacher; Old pastor has been here too long.
He just needs to pack up his books and shuffle on home.
But you know that pastor was tough and not a quitter,
In God's big ballpark he was a home run hitter!
So the old preacher took heart and tightened up his grip,
Cut loose the holding back straps and said, "Let'er rip!"
You know, I saw that old preacher again with his head held high,
With determination on his face and a tear in his eye.
It seemed that I could sense from the look on his face,
That he had made up his mind to finish the race.
Oh, yes, he'll fall in the battle from some deadly archer,
But he left his instructions for his flock to follow,
"Just cover my face and keep on marching."

"If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sancitified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work".  (II Tim. 2:21)

Morning Devotional...

Lip Surgery

"'Woe to me!' I cried. 'I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips' Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, 'See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.'"  - Isaiah 6:5-7

And I know of no greater sin of mine than my lips. My unholy thoughts, though many, are my private sins that affect only me. My unholy deeds, though heinous, are few and far between.

But my words are many and their damage is public. In a few short sentences, I can cut a baggage handler at the airport down to size for dropping my wheelchair. In a string of vexings and hammerings, I can skewer my husband's plans for the weekend. In a twisted maze of flatterings, I can manipulate any unsuspecting soul.

Oh, what a burden. To possess such an instrument is more than I can bear at times. But while the reality of my sinful lips depresses me, God corrects me with one important observation: "See, this has touched your lips."

For Isaiah, it was the burning coal used by God to drive home His point that outside intervention is needed. Through painful imagery of cauterized lips, Isaiah learned an important lesson. His lips were impure, but God touched them and declared them clean.

But that is not the end of it. God desired to use those lips. When asked, "Whom shall I send?" Isaiah had the righteous audacity to say, "Here am I. Send me."

Lord, purify my words by Your presence in my life. Remove the dross of selfishness and pride from these lips. Make them sing and speak of You all my days.

Take My Life and Let it Be (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/takemyli.mid)

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:1,2

I went for a little visit of five days (to Areley House). There were ten persons in the house, some unconverted and long prayed for, some converted, but not rejoicing Christians. He gave me the prayer, "Lord, give me all in this house!" And He just did.

Before I left the house every one had got a blessing.

The last night of my visit after I had retired, the governess asked me to go to the two daughters. They were crying.  Then and there both of them trusted and rejoiced; it was nearly midnight. I was too happy to sleep, and passed most of the night in praise and renewal of my own consecration; and these little couplets formed themselves, and chimed in my heart one after another till they finished with "Ever, Only, ALL for Thee!"

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Larry ~  I have never seen my files on my external.  It shows they are there but not in folders like I had on the C drive.  That's why I am wondering how to move them to my C drive.  And I wish I had my laptop so I could start renewing it.  Do you realize I am impatient?  It will okay but just wish I could fast-forward a week or two and it would all be done.

Never found the poll....

Today is the DDS and I am taking my swim bag.  Would like to go swimming and get it over with for the week.  Kitty is in Ohio baby-sitting her g-daughter so I am alone this week.

We do have fun around here, don't we?  I voted for my favorite cookie, although I wish I could vote for more than one.

And there's more voting to be done!  We have a week to get our votes in for our 10 favorite entries in the Mini Challenge #50, "Fall Is In The Air"  HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=10967.0).

I voted for Snickerdoodles, but I also like sugar and chocolate chip---all warm from the oven!  I dare not bake any of them often because neither of us need to eat them!  It will be fun to see which wins.

Pat, I do hope you are feeling good and strong again, and that you stay well.  You have certainly had far more than your share of problems in the past few years!  Love you.

I am ready to go out and walk, and need to do it right away, as the wind is starting to come up, and high winds are predicted for later today.  Ugh.

I don't yet know what today holds...but do we ever, really?

Hi everyone.  It has been a rainy morning but seems to have stopped for now and suppose to be over by 1 pm.  We sure needed the rain.

After coffee we went to the gym to walk.  I walked a few laps.  Then stopped by the bank and went to Kaiser for a couple of prescriptions.  I will have lunch with my Monday men's group at 1 pm.  We are going to a place that I really like.  Today is our son's 47th birthday.  My, how fast these years pass.  Thought I had lost most of this posting when I voted for the poll but was able to use the back button on this tab and recover what I had written and then go forward and paste into the message box.

Al, thanks for the info on how you keep the coffee.

Ruth,  glad you were able to talk with your pastor and hope you will feel comfortable with what you post here.  Sometimes in writing it is difficult to convey the exact thought and our words can be misunderstood.  I try very hard not to see negatives in what others say and if I do to limit to a very short time letting the words affect how I feel.  My days are too important to let someone else take the joy out of them.

Janet, thanks for the explanation of the wood harp.  I had to chuckle when I realized we have one of those hanging in our front hallway.  I just didn't know what it was called.  I sure agree about the need for prayer regarding the election and the importance of voting.

Pat, thanks for the prayer.  If you see me in person most days it looks like I am at the peak of health and sometimes I want to deny the reality of the situation.  I expect to be around for a long time.  Hope you are feeling better.  Thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week.

Marilyn, I am glad you realize that criticism of someone because they do something in a different way can be very hurtful.  I am sure Keith is doing what he thinks will please you and generally there are no "right" and "wrong" ways in doing many things, just preferred or learned ways. I always try to keep in mind "how important is it".   I am sure the cast is slowing you down.

Carol, I saw that the Broncos had a tough day yesterday.  The Atlanta Falcons had a very exciting game and for awhile I was concerned that they were going to lose after giving up a nice lead.  However, they ended up successful.  I think we have a good team this year that should make the playoffs.  Glad you are home from the mountains and not risking getting snowed in.

Jeanne, I wanted to vote for them all.  I don't know that I have ever had a cookie I didn't like.  :)

Etta Sue, it sounds like you are using a backup command to get your files to your external hard drive.  The same program that does that should have a restore function and that is what you will have to use to get your files back to what you expect.  I don't use that method of backup and didn't think about that being the case.

Hello to all:

Yesterday I was going to have a lovely roast of beef for dinner but instead we got a call asking if we would like to join our cousin for a small birthday dinner he was 81 yrs young. The roast was put in the frig. until today. Roast beef dinner anyone going to join us?
Because this is a local restaurant and is very well known one never knows who will be coming in and yes another set cousins came in on their way home from a quilting show in Orangeville.  We had not seem them in a long time.

I feel very comfortable here, but the issue with facebook I will not put on paper but the couple doing the accusing is plenty scared that the results of the tests will be cancerous. There was a serious family issue in the past leaving them very touchy and not willing to deal with it and move on.  We live in a very small world and not everything can be kept secret.

About the cookies I have several that I like very much  1.peanut butter and 2. oatmeal but I would like to know what are Snickerdoodles ??     Will I find them in the recipe section.

This was election day for Mayors, councillors and school trustee's, for the most part many folk will be glued to the T.V. for the results.

homemade Snickerdoodles are great with coffee or milk.  Love all the cookies if they are homemade.

We have a tire losing air & think that the Firestone place forgot to mend the tire although they did rotate.  Not a problem, we will get the car in there tomorrow.  Boy, is it windy and cold here but now sun is shining.  Two passes in the mountains are closed & chain laws are in effect for many - am sure we will see pictures on the news tonight of people just stranded.  Sometimes the younger ones are stuck with wearing shorts & flip flops with no clue as to what to stash for emergency in their vehicles.  Worse is when they have children and have no food or formula for the babies - it is unfortunately true that there are many who do not think of anything going wrong.  I guess I was brought up to always think of the worst happening so that isn't too good either.   ::)

Janet:  We voted early by mail but so concerned about fraud in the system.

Pat:  Did you recover completely from your ailment?  I hope so because this gets to be such a busy time of the year & you need to have strength.  How about that hubby of yours?  Take care of yourselves.

Larry:  It is nice to have a gym - we either walk outdoors or go down to the basement where the t.v. gets one local channel of silly news people while we do a treadmill and now have bought a used stationary bike.  Boring at times but time does go pretty fast.

I feel pretty good about my Monday!  :)  I walked this morning, outdoors, then I went to my studio room and finished that pesky door harp.  Had to get Darrel to get me some softer wire to hang the beads from, the other just wouldn't do!  Then I put the finish (protective coat) on four paints that are now done; also I decorated ten Christmas trees!   ;)  Of course, they are very small, actually they are stamped on cardstock.  I was putting tiny dots of glitter glue on them, they will be used in card making.  I also got the base coat on a small tray I will paint for a gift, and chose the design I will paint on it.

And some friends and invited us over for supper, so that's where we are headed now.  All in all, a very satisfying day!

I really LOVE shortbread..... the way my Mum used to make them (LOL)....I do stay away from cookies, as a rule. I don't see shortbread cookies around too much anymore as they are made primarily with butter and sugar and SO rich.

Everyone, please excuse my lack of posting. I come in and regularly to read, laugh and add to my prayer list.  All of you are so special and I am so thankful to JudyB for inviting me.

The Thought for the Week, especially "The Old Pastor" was so appropriate as our Sunday School Class prayer time reminded us, and our Pastor, how special he is to God and to us!!

It has been a very cloudy and rainy day, here in NearNorth Ontario; 15 Celsius (59 F), however, Everett and I did get out to vote...
Now I must go vote in the Mini Challenge.... from my recent visits, it a tough one!!

I'M BACK!!!!!

What a day this has been.  We got my new computer and found it wouldn't work with the keyboard that I had...wrong connection.  So a new keyboard was in the works.  Now my washer has bitten the dust...... Repair man coming tomorrow.  He thinks it is just a switch.

But I am back. This keyboard is going to take getting used to ...far more bells and whistles than any other I have ever seen.  It was also the least expensive in Futures!

Pat that "Old Pastor" reminded me of our pastor.  Ruth is so right Pastor Larry is so very special to us.

Cookies.   I love whipped shortbread, but also the Tim Hortons Double Chocolate Macadamia nut are wonderful if you like chocolate!

I never met a cookie I didn't like....even Mom's Oatmeal Cookies that she sometimes used bacon grease instead of Crisco or lard!!  Mom's have a way of making everything good no matter the ingredients!!

Today is SAM's.  Our seniors at church lunch out.  Senior Adult Ministry.  Then this evening is Beef and Boards and the showing of 'White Christmas'.  Lots of music and dancing according to the website.

And it has been raining cats and dogs with wind gusts up to 52 mph.  Maybe I won't have to mulch my leaves at all.  Maybe they have blown to Lapel by now!  I could actually see the leaves disappearing from my maple tree out front while doing my Bible reading this morning!  Kind of scary a few moments.  My electric went out and right back on...but still have to reset a few clocks.  It has calmed down right now.

Everyone have a God Blessed Day!

It is a cloudy day here along with some rain.

Judy:   It seems that with one expense along comes many more before it all ends.

I got one counted cross stitch project finished and now I am about to start another that has been waiting, it is three tea cups and saucers with the words faith, hope and love on each  when done and framed I think that they will be quite nice.  I am slow at doing these things so it will be a month or two before it is finished.

Hi everyone.  It is a cloudy day here with a chance of rain this afternoon and then rain tomorrow.  It is too warm however, which gives a concern about possible storms.  It sounds like the midwest, especially the area around Chicago is really getting hit hard.  They said this morning that storm was 2000 miles wide.

Ruth, unexpected events like your cousin's invitation are so pleasant.  Glad you had a good time.

Carol, we have a wonderful place to walk as it is climate controlled and nice and flat.  We went and walked again today.  I made it eleven rounds with one rest period.  I then went to two grocery stores for a few items and finally had a meeting to attend.

Janet, it sounds like you were very productive with all your arts and crafts work as well as the walk.  That sure makes for a pleasant day and a feeling of accomplishment.

RuthV, I have never acquired much of a taste for shortbread.  Of course, I never had the opportunity to taste any of it made by our mother.

Judy, welcome back. Sure glad you got the new computer and the new keyboard.  Keyboards can be very inexpensive or way up there.  I recently got an inexpensive keyboard that rolls up to use when I have to use the Netbook, which I really dislike.

Etta Sue, sure hope you have no damage from the storm and don't lose power for very long.  Hope you can get to your evening activities.

My Washer is up and running.  Just a broken switch that enables the washer to spin, it only works when the lid is down.  Thankfully it was reasonable for the cost.

It is cloudy and windy here.  Fire is going, I will have to add wood soon but at least I am warm.

I have 5 sweaters done withonly one left in one family.  Then two for the last family.  John has asked for a sweater as well as Kassie, but theirs will be cardigan style.  I know the yarn for Kass but am unsure of what I will use for John.

Ruth I have a cross stitch to do as well.  It is mainly words, but has a basket of flowers on top.  It is planned for a Christmas present, It may be delayed till after Christmas.

Well I must keep knitting.  God bless you All

Judy it sounds like you are a very fast knitter, or do you have on of those knitting machines. When I was still in the desert one of my clients had one of those machine. They are pretty nifty.

I am doing well and I hope everyone  here is as well. The sun is beautiful right now but it was  hailing and raining earlier.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

The best laid plans of mice and men...........I was just getting going on my day when the phone rang, and--you guessed it!--they wanted me to come in to work, right now!  So I went in and worked for 5 1/2 hours.  They were having their once a month "barbeque" when all the neighborhoods eat in the commons area, and Beth had already called yesterday to ask me to come eat with her.  So I got to do that, as well as working.  Of course, now I'm tired, and my day's work is still waiting.  Guess it can just wait until tomorrow.

It was quite brisk outside this morning, and the wind is blowing, but not too bad.  It has really been a remarkably beautiful October!

Two of the men in the neighborhood where I have been working are so fragile, will barely eat.  Now one of them has the shingles and they took him to the hospital today.  Those are the parts of the job I don't like, as I get attached to the residents quickly.  One of the ladies from the Unit passed away last week.  Sigh.....  And now my Mom is barely eating, so I am concerned about her, as well.  Enough of that!!!

I have some tomatoes I want to make into salsa, and they won't do themselves, so.....up and at 'em!

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee at McDonald's.  We had a new record number of men there this morning with 10.  It was a fun time.

Today is Bible study with the pastor and then this evening choir.

So far we have escaped any of the bad weather that has been in the area although Georgia has had quite a bit of bad weather in the Northern part.  Still more possibilities for today as this is a part of that huge storm hitting a big part of the mid-west and east.

Janet, sure hope your mother will regain her appetite. It is nice of you to be willing to come and work at a moments notice.

Well, I got my laptop back last evening but haven't opened it yet here at home.  Now I discovered a Toshiba Recovery and Application DVD for my laptop.  I don't know if I can use it or not.  Need to call PC Help.  Just know that my laptop is bare now...not anything with Toshiba on it that I can see.  So perhaps I need to use this DVD so that Toshiba functions will work!  Sounds like my fun has begun!  Set up email.  Set up wireless.  I lost all my email addresses.  Glad I have some on Droid and my External drive.  And yes, get my external files back on the C drive.  LARRY....wish you were here!!

'White Christmas' at Beef and Boards was wonderful.  Loved the music.  Loved the dancing.  Loved the costumes.  Loved the story.  Loved the food....it even seemed outstanding last night.  And since this was our 8th show this season, we got complimentary desserts!

Well, if I am not here for the next few days, you will know that I am playing laptop restore!

Good Morning from the sunny southwest coast, at 39°, of Oregon. The sun will not last long it is supposed to be cloudy and sunny off an on today then rain starts again tonight.
I've been to the gym, did a little of my normal workout but not as much as I did on Monday. I didn't go yesterday, had an appt with the ENT at 9:15 and didn't get back home until 11:00 I only live about 3 minutes from the Doctor's office. I should have just canceled the appointment all he did was ask how I was, looked at my throat and ran the scope up my nostril to look at my throat for himself after I told him it was fine.

Happy did not scratch at all yesterday, I put the flea med on in the afternoon and only gave him 1 allergy pill in the morning and 1 at night instead of 4 each time. He shook a little bit like he was cold so I warmed a towel in the microwave and spread that over him. When he went to bed I  covered him up  there too as it gets pretty cold in the bedroom at night, I did turn the heat on a little bit to take the chill out of the room.

ps.   the sun has disappeared again.and the temp has risen since I first typed this a couple of hours ago but didn't post  until now.

Went to the bible study this morning & our regular speaker will be back next week - yea -

Afterward, on to the Sprouts store where the sales were good & I am fixing a chicken and brown rice bake along with a spinach salad for neighbors tonight.  Well, they are coming over to talk about their trip to the NE to see the colors.  They are birders too so I hope they had time for their hobby.

It doesn't make me angry but it does make me sad when someone denounces another religion and a gal sitting right next to me at church talked about everything she disliked of a Lutheran funeral service.  My goodness, I didn't want to even say anything but there are pastors who do things a little different and that is who the family wanted, including the woman who died.

Time to dust & set the table & think about a dessert because we don't have desserts usually.  I just don't bake like I used to years ago.

Larry:  I just saw you on Facebook & it was nice that Gladys sent you a note.

Goodness, it is already 3 P.M.!  This day has flown by!

Darrel and I got 9 pints of salsa made today, still have some tomatoes left, so need to make another batch tomorrow.  These were given to us; we didn't get enough tomatoes off our vines to make it worth the trouble!  I didnt make it last night because I didn't have any peppers and didn't want to drive back to town to the store.

We did get frost, and today the trees are raining down leaves.  October has been so lovely, though, I am not complaining.

It is almost time to go for Wednesday Whimseys, which is what the lady calls our little scrapbooking class.  We sure enjoy it.  I made several cards last night, here at home.

Carol, I agree, people shouldn't complain about the way others' pastors handle things, if they want them, that is what counts.

Marilyn I am hand knitting these sweaters.  A fairly simple pattern, and all the same pattern just different sizes.  I have started on the 6th tonight and hope to have it done by the weekend.  That leaves only 2 of the original plan that I need to work on.  I am fighting time as Christmas is coming so fast.  To top it all off, John and Kassie would like a sweater as well, only Kassie would like a cardigan style.  That is easy enough to do, just more time consuming.

Janet it is tough seeing folks we care about fail.  Praying for you sis.

Larry walking is the best exercise going.  John and I are constantly being told to walk.  Take it easy and just don't over do it.

Ruth ....expences.  Do they ever end?  We are saving toward a new vehicle as the life on ours is short.  We will do well to have it last the winter.  I am hoping to have the new one before that.

Ruth V  Looking forward to tomorrow.  Will be fun.

It's late. I need to get some sleep.

Well, I am using the laptop.  I have given up with the external drive.  Going to try it one more time.  I remember when I got it that it took me all day to get it installed and showing windows that were on the User Manual on the web.  Instructions with the box was only one paragraph and that included telling you to plug the enclosed cord into the My Passport Essential and the other end into a USB port on you computer!!  Duh!  From there you are on your own.

I called a man from church and asked him to help me but his mother-in-law was without electric and the electric company was at her house at the time getting her back in business.  David is a handyman for just about everything!  I may have to call him back.

So I really don't want to install my PSP's and some other things until I have the items off my External back onto the C drive.

Other than the External, everything is going great with this laptop.  I can't remember how to change the size of the fonts on Firefox other than Ctrl +.  Any ideas?

And I lost all of my email addresses.  Glad that I have some on the Droid.  So send me an email so I can put you back into my contact list.

Today the furnace man is to come and finish up the job that they had ordered a wrong part for last week.  I haven't heard anything yet.

A stupid old cold is trying to get me, but I'm fighting it off wit Vitamin C, Zinc, and hot tea with honey.  I plan to take it easy today and give my body a chance to fight with all it has.

Darrel just left to go to the chiropractor.  Not much on our agenda today, and that's good once in a while!

Good thoughts for today:

Scripture: Psalm 62:8
"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge" NIV

History tells us that in 1787 during the United States Constitutional Convention the founding fathers of America were struggling. 55 delegates after a few months were at an impasse that threatened to derail the whole democratic process. I can only imagine rooms full of politicians scheming and making plans and wanting to control the situation with their own ideas.

That is when a speaker took the podium and said: "Gentlemen, I have lived a long time and am convinced that God governs in the affairs of men. If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? I move that prayer --- imploring the assistance of Heaven --- be held every morning before we proceed to business."

And with prayer all the political struggling and impasses meted away as "me" was replaced by "us" and emerged into the America we have today.

Next week we as a nation are going to the polls to elect officials to represent us. If you spend any time listening to the news whether on TV, radio, newsprint or computer --- I'm sure you are hearing some disturbing things.

Just as Benjamin Franklin more than 220 years ago addressed the Constitutional Convention and trusted Jesus to lead and direct the decisions of this nation --- I ask you as a reader of these cdd's to gently walk into your prayer closet and for the next few days pray --- pray as Ben Franklin prayed, pray that God will bless us with leaders who are secure in HIS Kingdom principles.

Prayer:Father I surrender every impasse in my life to your care and direction --- and I ask you to make a way for professing Christians who hold your values in their hearts to lead this nation. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

Hi everyone.  It has turned out to be a beautiful, mild day here in Georgia.  This morning, after coffee, I took our Hyundai Sonata to the dealer for an oil change and then went to Atlanta to pick up our daughter to bring to our house for the night.  She hasn't been with us for probably 6 weeks and needed to get away from her apartment for a little bit.  The traffic was terrible on I-85 so took back roads as much as I could.  Then her street was very slow as they were doing road repair.  However, the trip home went very well.

Etta Sue, glad you were able to get your laptop backup and working.  If you have to have your laptop redone again, just pop in the recovery disk and it will be put back into the factory default and then you can bring Windows up-to-date and install the other programs.  You might try a Google search on how to restore your files from your external drive as it sounds like it probably came with a backup program.  If you have your e-mail available on your desktop it is an easy thing to go to the program and export your address book and then import it on the laptop.

Janet, hope you will be able to fight off the cold with some extra rest.  You are too busy to be have a cold.

Judy, we have walked twice this week.  We will probably go walking again in the morning.  Hope your car holds up until you are ready to get another.

Carol, I was surprised to see the message from Gladys.  I really don't use Facebook very often.  What is a "Sprouts" store?  Have never heard of that name before.

Marilyn, it sounds like your nights are getting rather chilly.  Glad your dog is doing better.

Jeanne, I agree with you in not enjoying night driving.  I still can do it when necessary but prefer not to.

My windows are clean, my windows are clean........... it was so nice that we were able to get outdoors and the wind has actually calmed enough to be able to get something done in the yard.

I also carefully cut some fabric & that was tense as it had to be just perfect or it would be expensive to replace.  Then, I was able to knit without any mistake this time - this has been a nice day.

Larry:  Sprouts is a store with a lot of organic produce but not all and it has health food & so forth.  I do like to buy chicken there especially when it is on sale.  They have bins & I bought & ground coffee, then bins of seminola flour for bread, raw almonds and I can't remember what else.  They have a few bins of spices as well as you can grind your own peanut butter or put honey into the container size you need.

Janet:  Mmmm, your homemade salsa sounds nice.

Where is Ruth Ann?

Leftover chicken and brown rice for dinner tonight.

Judy:  My best wishes on your vehicle lasting until you can find a really good working vehicle.  They can be so worrisome at times & you are not directly "in town" apparently.  Are you down to one dog in the house now?  I went to a house this week & both dogs (white West Terriers) hung on me the entire time - so soft and sweet.

No We have 3 dogs.  Cimi as well as Kassie's dog Stiches, and now John's dog Sandy (Rambo).  Sandy is such a funny little fello, he carries a worn out glove in his mouth the whole time he is outside, or if he can find one, a ball.  He seems to never stop running, John adores him.  Unfortunately there is a company poicy in place that he cannot take the dog with him in the truck.  I really wish he could it would force him to walk every day.

I was over at JudyB's today and can vouch that the sweaters are BEAUTIFUL!! I hope all the recipients appreciate all the hard work and love you have put into each.

JudyB, two of your dogs chased me down the lane, about half way. They never came all the way down to the road.

I had to do a lot of catching up; from late Tuesday!!

Yesterday was coffee at Tim's and today ribs the best around at Oasis the name is fancier than the restaurant.

Last evening was very windy and also we have had our share of wind today as well.

Judy:   Knitting what has made the change as I thought your hands would not stand up to the stress of holding the needles?

Larry, Etta Sue and others all the talk of the computer parts is beyond me, I would need a tech. to do the work. I thought I knew a fair amount but when I hear you chat I know so very little.

Janet:  It is wonderful that you willingly go and help out at the centre. They also know a good and willing worker.

I went to a warehouse sale this afternoon and spent only $20.00  a good place to consider Christmas shopping and stock up on little gifts for the year.  Going early in the season is best as the selections get slim when you get closer to DEC.25

Hi everyone.  It looks like I will be the first to post today unless someone else is writing and hits the post button first.

Shortly I will take our daughter back to her apartment in Atlanta.  She has found it works best for her just to be here overnight rather than to stay a couple of days.  It is a nice day and sure hope the traffic is better today as it was a mess yesterday.

We walked at the gym this morning after coffee at the senior center.  This is still leaving me pretty tired but know it is important to try to do the walking.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Carol, thanks for the info on Sprouts.  That is a cleaver name.  When we lived in the DC area the Giant food store chain used to have a whole section where the items were in bulk and you could buy just what you wanted.  I don't see that down here anymore.  Glad you had such a productive day.  I can understand your joy at getting your fabric cut just right as hear my wife express concern about that.

Ruth, you would probably surprise yourself on the computer.  I am basically self-taught, although my best friend is a computer whiz, who used to build and sell computers, and he helps me when I get stumped.  It sounds like you found some bargains.

Judy, I am sure having a dog in the truck would be a lot of company but there is probably a safety factor involved with distraction from the road.

RuthV, nice that you were able to see the knitting that Judy has done.

Morning all. After a rough night of stupid dreams, I am finally up.  Laundry is caught up, I just have a bit of folding to do.

Larry the reason for no dogs in the trucks is that there are so many people who are allergic to dogs, and when dogs have been allowed there has been chewing damage.  Owner Operators, (drivers who own their own trucks) take their pets with them all the time.  Cats, dogs, birds you name it the have it.  Silly in my books to have a bird, what if it fly's out!

There is a young man iin the town who has just started his own business in auto repair.  Very savvy when it comes to diagnosing a problem.  He has a Subaru that he is working on, he is rebuilding the engine.  This car is for sale and we are looking at buying it.  His price is reasonable, it isn't ready yet, the engine is completely out of the car. We are biting the bullet in getting the funds together for it.

Kassie is going out with friends tonight and John is coming home.  I have an appointment in town so inbetween appointment and meeting up with John I will have time to get a lot of the present sweater done.  I was thinking I would take a picture of them all when  they are done and give you a glimpse of what I have done.

Next weekend is Kassie's 16th birthday.  It is hard to believe that the little girl I took on the truck with me has become such a beautiful young lady.  A year and a half she is off to college.  She is making Music her minor, not sure what the major will be yet. I would like to get professional photos done of her.  We'll see maybe my camera will do the job...although I am not one to take good people pics.

Well off to folding and preparing for the day.  Have a God one folks!

Before I forget, Don said we all have to download something to stop a virus on Facebook or all of our personal information will be taken.  Scarey stuff. Even if this is a  hoax, it is so unsettling.

Walked in nice weather this morning and we are to have two days of high 70's and then it will be back to normal temps.  The leaves are falling here and the mountain tops have deep snow.  Perfect.

I am thinking that my injury on my lips will never heal - another scary thought.  Never did have a doctor look at it & do not even want to think of that pain.  One son came over last night and found problems with our windows so now we need to fix them and will do that ourselves.  Off to do a little hardware shopping.

Well, I called the company that makes my external hard drive.  I told him that following the online instructions, I can't find the .exe file to install the software.  He ended up telling me to format the hard drive.  In the external.  I would lose everything on it.  I told him, I didn't care if I ever used the external to save files again...I just wanted to get the files I have on there back onto the computer.  Then he gave me a number to call about data recovery.  I called them.  $500 to $2000 to recover the data and I would have to mail it to them.  NO!  So I called PC Help and I took my external down there.  There are a data recovery center also.  It is free to see if it can be done then they will call me to tell me the cost!

In the meantime, I get an email (see, I sent them an email and I am impatient) from  the external hard drive company and I have downloaded the software from the website.  Now I probably could do it myself!

Whew!  Can you tell I am venting?

And yes, Larry.  After I discovered the Recovery Blah Blah DVD, I realize I could have done all of the laptop on my own.  But I was SKEERED!!

Ivalou went with me to PC Help and then we had Chinese food at our favorite Chinese place.  Then to Dollar General.  I used my $5 off coupon if you spend $25 or more.  I did.

It sounds like everyone is busy, busy, busy!  And of course, I am no exception to that!

I got up this morning feeling better, started working on the last of the tomatoes (Making salsa) and soon realized I had a chiropractic appointment!  So I changed, went for that, then to Pat's to have her do my hair; then came home to get Darrel and we went to Pioneer Electric to eat Chili and cinnamon rolls for breast cancer research.  Pat and Gaylon came, too.  When I got home, I finished the salsa, then a customer came to have three things framed, I did that, Beth called and wanted me to come see her in her Halloween garb.  So off I went to the home.  She was GREEN, and I mean, dark green!  John had sent her green greasepaint makeup so she could be Frankenstein's monster.  Ha!

She had worn that junk all day and was tired of it!  She even wore it this morning when she went to the chiropractor!  He got a kick out of it, but said he got his hands all green!  Anyway, she wanted me to wash it off, and it took me 30 minutes to clean her face!!  She also had black on her lips and eyes!   :o  What a mess.  But she had a good time.  The little kids from the nearby school always come to the home for treats, so she had enjoyed seeing them and having them see her.

Carol, the salsa is GOOD, even if I do say so!  I'm so thankful for those tomatoes.  Now we only have a few left to eat fresh.

Sorry for the two posts in a row, but this computer screen starts jumping when I pass so many lines, driving me nuts!

Now that I'm back, I can't remember what I was going to write!

The Vitamin C and Zinc seem to be helping a lot, am keeping it up.

Larry, hope the traffic wasn't too bad when you took Stacey home.

Judy, you do stay busy.  And I, too, would like to see the sweaters, and Kassie too.

Etta Sue, I'd be SKEERED too, to try to fix my computer.  It's acting up some, all I have now is the laptop, so I'm needing some grandson assistance!!

Ruth, thanks for your kind words.  I enjoy working, but really  don't want to work full time at my age.  Too many other things I want to do!

Anyway, I wish you all a most pleasant evening.

Hi everyone.  Once again I guess I will be first to start off the new day.  It is suppose to be a delightful day weatherwise here.  We had a cool night but going to warm up to about 70 or a little above.

The traffic yesterday taking my daughter home was the exact opposite of the day before and I had no problem anywhere on the trip.  That was the big activity of the day except we went to a new pizza place for us for called "Fox Pizza" and shared a stomboli, which was very good.  That was about it for yesterday.

Today's schedule is not heavy either.  I will shortly go to coffee and later this morning attend a meeting.  Also today I need to work on Treasurer's reports for an upcoming meeting next Wednesday evening.  I will also be watching a lot of college football, especially the Georgia-Florida game late this afternoon.

Etta Sue, you might try saving a copy of all the files on that external drive to a folder on your laptop before you do anything that might destroy them.  Even though you wouldn't be able to use them in the saved format, you would have a backup copy of everything on that external drive that later could be restored if you end up having to reinstall the external drive hardware.  I would certainly advise not using the backup command in the future and just copying the files to the external drive and then you could recover them.  If many of your files are on your desktop you can copy those to the laptop through the wireless setup.  Call me if I can be of help to you.  I know you haven't had that laptop long.

Janet, it is good that Beth wanted to participate.  Yesterday we got to enjoy seeing some of the pre-school kids at the church where we walk come to school in their halloween costumes.  They were really cute.

Good morning.  I am still loading the laptop.  I haven't heard anything from PC Help but when I do and if they think the data on the external is recoverable, I will tell them what I have downloaded on the laptop....the My Passport Essential software updater.  To me it sounds like when I plug in the external hard drive, it should have windows just like before come up!  Hope I am not wishing a miracle but it sounds like it to me.

I really haven't done much since I wrote last except on this laptop.  I have put a time limit sitting here since sitting a long time at the computer at a time caused me to have to have a Selective Nerve Root Injection in my neck a few years back.  So I watched TV last night.

Kaye Don and Barb headed back to Florida yesterday.  They were staying a couple of nights in Tennessee and then go on to Bradenton.  So it is just Ivalou and I in the neighborhood now.

It got to 32° yesterday morning.  Not as cool this morning.  I did get my furnace all fixed and have to use it totally for 2 days to get the air out of the water lines.  Then I can use the heat pump again.  Saves $$$.

I understand the problem of transfirring data.  I am trying to do that as well.  Kass has a document on the old computer that needs MSWord to operate.  My new computer only has Open Office.  In my opinion a cheep replica that is not compatile with Work and she cannot use it in school, where all they have is Word.  My frustration level is high these days.

Snow Snow beautiful Snow.  It looks beautiful but is the beginning of a long cold winter.

Kassie has had a dissapointment.  The band program has practises on Wednewsday after school 3 - 5 and then on Thursday 6 - 8.  Kass has Biathalon on Thursday for a few weeks, then it moves to Saturday, in the morning.  That frees up my Thursday.  The teacher has said that because she cannot do the Thursday then she is out of the band.  If the out of town'ers want to be in the band they have to rely on their parents to transport them or they are out.  There is a late bus on Thursday at 5:15, but with the practise so late the kids miss the late bus.  Unfortunately she has committed to biathalon before band came up.  I am so looking forward to Thursday night being free and not having the hour and a half driving to do. If band was  from 3 - 5 then she could be in it and be totally happy with the music program, getting the late bus home.  She is in for awards in Cadets so I am not discouraging her there at all.

John has a 36 hour turn around this weekend.  He will be leaving early tomorrow morning.  I am looking forward to retirement.  then he will be home more...Nice!

Having a rough time with my shoulders this week.  Prayer is appreciated.

Another day of frustration yesterday with the laptop but I figured it out!  Always something.

Today I am working the projector at church and will be done with that until the last two weeks of the year.  I like doing it though.  So I am all ready to step out the door.

It looks to be like another wonderful fall day in Indiana.  It is 38° and to be sunny all day.  I kind of had a rough night last night so I will probably be napping this afternoon during the sunshine!

I am praying that everyone worships our God today.

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful fall day in Georgia.  It is a bit cool in the house but we still haven't had to turn on the furnace.  Each day we don't have to have it on helps with the utility bill.

I am ready for church.  I will be sitting in the choir but we are not doing an anthem today as our director is in New York where the Atlanta Symphony Chorus sang at a concert last night.  They were doing a work entirely in Russian.  Our director said it was tough going but sure they did it very well.

Judy, try this with the file that Kass has that you need on your computer.  Click on the file and it should open in Open Office.  Then click on File, Save As and at the bottom in "Save as Type" line find the MS Word 97/200/XP type and click on it and see if it won't save the document with that extension.  Just as Open Office will open MS documents it will also save them in MS formats.  I use Open Office all the time and no longer use MS Office 2003 programs.  Hope that works for you.

Judy, hope you are feeling better today.  Sorry to hear about the schedule conflict as sure Kass is very disappointed with her love of music.  I guess it just shows that life involves making choices.

Etta Sue, I am sure you and Ivalou will miss having your brother near by but the winter will go by quickly.  Are you planning to visit with them in Florida sometime during the winter?

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Church was not a regular sermon today.  This entire month is talks on "isms".  Today was secularism that is in our culture vs. the church.

I was able to add three free apps to my iPod - it will be great to have recipes handy when we go to AZ and fabric conversion charts under my quilting apps.  It is another techie thing to learn but will be oh so convenient if I can somewhat master this iPod.

It is nice and sunny here with horrible winds last night - there is a fire again near Boulder where some have been evacuated three times this year - human set.  This one is 75% out already because they did not have the wind, thankfully.

The Broncos are playing in London and it has to be so boring for the Brits as they are used to non-stop rugby and soccer.

Judy:  Sorry about Kassie & her desire to be in two activities that collide.  You are a long way from town.  For years, we lived in a small village that had nothing but a hockey rink & bars and we drove 7 miles to church or groceries & gas.  But you are farther than we ever drove so I take my hat off to you.

Etta Sue:  It is nice that you can check on your brother's house when they are away.  We appreciate our neighbors & especially our son who live fairly close as the boys will come inside and check things out.

Waiting to see results on the election.  This is really traumatic as there is one huge part of the health care bill that was voted through that should be taken out or it is predicted that we will lose 46% physicians/surgeons.  They would have to check with Federal Authorities before performing certain services, or operations & if told "no" then they could be fined massive amount of money for not obeying.

Larry:  That is amazing that your choir director & the Atlanta Symphony Chorus performed in NYC.

Carol I saw that video about the Healthcare bill.  Keith  oldest son has just become a Doctor, and I worry what will happen to all the young doctors with their  great ideas on helping people to recover from the various things that will be rationed by that  National  Panel that will dictate what care if any the patients will receive. I know that Craig  is specializing in Internal Medicine he is working right now at Providence hospital in Portland. He wants to get his patients healed and out of the hospital ASAP because he says there is so much sickness, disease etc in hospitals and  it is better to get the patients out ASAP. We get monthly newsletters about his experiences in his first years of residency.

My Doctor has already  said to me that I will not have to ever have another colonoscopy because people of a certain age don't need them. He even suggested that I not have any Mammograms but I sure let him know that Mammograms are a must for me since my daughter has has breast cancer. I really would like to have a different doctor but there aren't any that are taking new patients in this area. There were only 2 when  moved here almost 2 years ago.

Marilyn, someone else told me that now they are saying not to have colonoscopies after a certain age--sure a switch from only a couple of years ago.  You just have to wonder who to believe.

Carol, your IPod sounds nice, but this simple cell phone I have does stuff that I don't yet know how to use.  What happened to your lips?  I guess I must have missed something, but I hope they are much better now.

I have another appointment with the ENT Doctor on Friday.  Don't have any idea what to tell him; this tongue is such a constant annoyance, and now it is the whole tongue, not just around the area that was removed.  Phooey.

Larry, I read your instructions to Judy, and I didn't understand them.  I guess I just have a computer lingo block! :-[  I only know enough to be dangerous!

The youth group at church served a spaghetti dinner after service this morning.  They are making money to go to Youth Conference.

Marilyn:  I wouldn't stop having those tests and checkups.  Am just shaking my head at the new ideas being pushed into our heads.  You are still young

Janet:  My nose, lips & teeth met a concrete driveway the difficult way.  So grateful that nothing was broken.  If I can learn this, you certainly can learn it as well.  What is the matter with your tongue?

I am thinking of making sweet rolls for Wednesday morning bible study - our table is one of two to bring food in for those who want something with their drinks.
