Morning Devotional...
Verse
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:3The living soul within each of us can never be subject to annihilation. There is only a change of residence at the time of death. The soul will change its location, but it will never cease to be. That is the crux of the Bible teaching on the worth and infinite nature of the God-breathed human soul.
Consider this human situation—one many of us have witnessed at one time or another. A mother lovingly holds a tiny baby in her arms, a baby who is alive, cooing, alert, healthy. Then tragedy! Raging disease strikes down that same baby. The mother holds the infant form in her arms, but she is sobbing in grief. Death has robbed her of the object of her affection.
A brief service of loving memory will follow. In the tiny casket, the lifeless baby looks like a still, white angel.
What has happened?
Annihilation?
No! But there has been a change of form and existence—for the parents, a shocking change. The soul within that baby, the active mind, the intelligence, the cooing and laughter—all appear to have passed away. The lifeless body will be laid tenderly in the earth, where it finally will return to dust. But that living, individual soul will not be annihilated. Never! The soul has changed its place of existence, but it has not ceased to be.
Thought
Physical death brings a change of residence not an end to existence. Residence is dramatically changed. Just how dramatic we will all experience.
Prayer
O Lord, You will take me to be with You!From Devotions By Dr. Tozer
:)Good evening to all.
Etta Sue: I am 62 and I just cant believe where the time has gone. Hope that you are looking after yourself. :)
Janet: What type of painting do you do ? I have forgot.
Carol Only two patries 1funeral and we had our early thanksgiving dinner today with our kids and grandkids it was a lot of fun and they are growing to fast.
Ruth Ann: What type of diabetes do you have? I found out just over two years ago that I have type two I know that there are so many people that have this illness but they just continue on. I am just so thankfull that we have such a wonderful Christian doctor and he stays ahead of all the new things that come out for diabetics. Look after yourself and do as much walking as you possibly can.
Well this has been a very busy weekend and is time to say goodnight to all and may the Lord richly bless you all this week and give you oppertunities to be a witness for him. Gord and Noreen.
Good devotional Don.
:) Don good devotional thank you. I actually posted before you did but did it in the wrong area so Pat moved it for me. Thanks Pat.
Judy B. How are you all doing up north is 9it getting cool at night. <3 Good night again to all. Gord. <3 :cp: :nanadance:
Thanks for the devotional, Don ... It is comforting to be reminded that death as we know it is "just a change of residence" ... our loved ones (and one day ourselves) have merely changed residence -- moved to a better place.
Thanks, Don, for your initial devotional! You did well. Aren't we all glad that our spirits are immortal, and we will live forever? Death is but a doorway into another dimension.
I got up early as I couldn't sleep any longer; so have listened to two Christian programs, both of which had doctors giving really good advice on taking care of our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Gord, I do oil painting, mostly. I love landscapes, animals, florals and portraits. I think some of them are posted in the photos section.
Good morning to all of you who will be here later. I'm glad you were able to sleep longer than I! :)
I had a Janet night last night. Something had me stewing all night and It was rough.
John has left, and will be back later on the weekend. His dispatcher of off sick and the one he is dealing with is pushing him. Not a good situation. Thankfully he knows to stand firm on Dr's orders so we will wait to see the outcome.
It is a cloudy overcast day. and quite cool. I will be starting the furnace soon.
Bye till later.
Good morning all!
Great devotional, Don, and good job.
I had one of those nights, too. It's not unusual anymore for me to sleep a couple of hours and be awake for two or three or four and then, when it's nearly time to give up and get up, fall back to sleep for three or four more. Then, of course, an afternoon nap is absolutely necessary. javascript:void(0);
Thanks to all for your support on my first devotional. It is appreciated.
I had a Janet night last night also. The weather is changing here and my legs are giving me a fit, probably slept 2 hrs. Thats OK, it's a new day so I will go forward from here. I don't need much sleep anyway.
We had our homecoming yesterday and what a wonderful time it was. We had a guest speaker come and he will be here through Wed night for a short revival. I was planning to start my vacation this week to head to the mountains, somewhere, but that is on whole for now. I will not miss this speaker for the world.
Hope everyone has a blessed day!
Don
Janet Nights are the pitts. She keeps telling us not to copy her!
Oh, I'm not copying Janet or anyone else. I came up with this all by myself, without any help!
LOL yea me too, but they have come to be called "Janet Nights"!!!
Good job, Don! Ya done gud.
Tozer always has good things to say. I long for that eternal residence. The only thing I have to do about it now is to be absolutely sure where it's going to be. Oh Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner! Unless He makes me new, I shall utterly fail. It is by grace that I shall be saved, and that not of myself. It is the gift of God. Not of works, lest even one man should boast.
Hi everyone. I didn't have a Janet night as slept very well. It is very unusual for me not to sleep well, even though I rest or take a nap most afternoons.
We had more rain all night and it is still raining lightly this morning and forecast for the rest of the day. Some roads were closed around here this morning due to standing water.
Janet, glad to see you back and to read that you were able to get some much needed rest and relaxation.
Don, thanks for the devotional for this week. You did very well.
Ruth Ann, nice that you were able to meet with those folks and had a good time. Nice to read that you are over the knee pain associated with your knee surgery.
Other than my men's luncheon today at 1 pm I have a quiet day planned.

My body tried to have a Janet night but I fought it and slept very well all night....after I chewed a couple of Tums.
Ivalou looked great yesterday but was tired. I went for a drink of water and she fell asleep in the wheelchair. Then the other lady in the room said something and woke her up! The nurse suggested we ask for a private room for Ivalou...there is no visiting with Ivalou with the other lady in the room. She won't push her nurse button...she yells 'Nurse! Come help me!' Then it is some frivolous thing. She will ask me to do things and I just tell her to call her nurse! So we ended up taking Ivalou to the dining room to get away. The nurse has put Ivalou on the list to get a private room!
I plan to go to the hospital this afternoon and then to church council this evening.(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253ECrosses.gif&hash=a20248754210521e37b5468eb257de739e5571d0)

Etta Sue How difficult for you and your sister. I am praying.
Al Amen to that!
Etta Sue, it does make it difficult when the roommate is so demanding. But isn't it sad that she feels such a need for attention. Maybe she doesn't understand how the call button works and thinks she has to call out in order for the nurse to come. Does she have many visitors or is she lonely?
It's alternating today among thin clouds, dark clouds and bright sunshine. The sun doesn't shine long enough between cloudy times for any warming up. But it's fall and to be expected... even though we never really got any summer. ;)
I've been here reading the posts every day. One thing I would like to say is that I think you all should call your sleepless nights by something other than a Janet night, that saying is getting old and worn out. Just say you couldn't sleep or that you had a difficult night. I don't know how Janet feels about this but if it was my name that kept coming up I would begin to resent it. Just my opinion. No offense intended.
If you've ever worked for a boss that reacts before getting the facts and thinking things through, you will love this story.......
Arcelor-Metal Steel, feeling it was time for a shake-up, hired a new CEO and he was determined to rid the company of all slackers.
On a tour of the facilities, the new CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall. The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business. He walked up to the guy at the wall and asked, 'How much money do you make a week?'
A little surprised, the young man looked at him and replied, 'I make about $400 a week. Why?'
The CEO then handed the guy $1,600 in cash and screamed, 'Here's four weeks' pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!' The guy left without saying a word to the CEO.
Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room and asked, 'Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here? '
From across the room came a voice, 'Pizza delivery guy from Domino's.'
:) Jeanne. Very funny story it is nice to see that we can have a good laugh at some good clean jokes.
We have a very dull afternoon and it is still not to cool. Well I must go out to get some medications at Wal-Mart talk to you all later. :coffee: Gord. :cp: :kettle:
Don
Al: Amen
Marilyn: I agree with you about the sleepless nights.
I had a wonderful nights rest and looking forward to more of the same, perhaps you can tell that my burdens have been lifted and I am also making some serious changes with one of the rooms in my home, it is now a computer room.
Mel has just returned home after spending most of the afternoon with our son so now I will get supper ready.
Marilyn, I am not in the least offended by the use of my name. nor do I resent it. Anyway, I guess maybe I have mentioned sleepless nights too often, you think? So.........whatever.
We had a busy day today. It was cool, damp and windy, and we couldn't work on the sale, so after lunch we went to Garden and did some errands and some shopping. I got a new pair of shoes--Keens--and we went to Sam's and Walmart. Then we ate a small supper at Wendy's and came home.
The auctioneer said the sale bills are printed and they would start getting them distributed today. I haven't seen one yet.
Somehow, I can't seem to think of anything to say tonight, so good night!
Janet, I don't think you've mentioned sleepless nights "too often" if they happen, they happen .... you're just letting us know about your life ... (which, by the way, seems very busy and emotionally as well as physically draining). I just took all the comments as a lighthearted teasing. We seem to do that sort of thing among friends.
As the kids say "it is what it is" ... ;)
I am so very blessed these days. My Father has given me some really amazing neighbors. I have been struggling with trying to keep my yard up ... and the park here decided (after someone complained) that they wouldn't pick up the yard trimmings any more, so I didn't have any place to put them even if I was able to trim the trees and bushes....
Well, my neighbor went to the office and "explained" my situation and asked them to give him an estimate for picking up a pile of stuff if he (and his wife) cut everything back and got it all cleaned up for winter .... They said to go ahead and make a pile and they'd let him know when it was ready for pickup.
Also, my neighbor told them that it's been cold here the last couple nights and he hasn't seen any smoke coming from my chimney (because I have been "saving" the wood I have for when it gets REALLY cold). They said to tell me to go ahead and have a fire whenever I needed one and they sent the maintenance men up with another big load of wood (no charge!).
My neighbors got out there this afternoon and cut and pruned and raked stuff until we were all tired and there's still more to be done, but when we get it all ready and cleared the management has said we can have all the mulch/wood chips we need and we're going to spread that all around in all the beds .... I'm gonna be all set for winter and anything else that comes along! God is sooooo GOOD --- all the time!
Jane "He will supply all your 'need' according to His riches in glory"! WOW.
Janet and Marilyn no offence was meant...I am sorry
Been a busy day. A lot of appointments have been made, and this is good. I have been having trouble with my eyes. That will be tended to in November.
Pray for John and I approaching this coming Saturday. A friend's 15yo daughter is pregnant and she is wanting help telling the step dad. He has threatened to kick her out if she gets pregnant. Pray that God's grace and mercy cover us. They are not Christians.
Got to run be back tomorrow.
I'll be praying with you Judy.
My diabetes is type 2, as well, but I was thrown into it by a very serious illness that damaged my liver, pancreas and spleen enough that my body doesn't handle the insulin produced efficiently - since Jan 1973.
Jame, your neighbors are definitely living out the adage to assist the "widows and orphans." May God be praised that things have worked out, and also that He provided them with the ability to be your ombudsman with the authorities.
Gotta go to sleep - y'all have a great day.
Hi everyone. After a rainy and chilly day here in Georgia yesterday, today is suppose to be sunny and I look forward to seeing the sun. Not much on my schedule today other than the normal routine.
Jane, it is wonderful that your neighors stepped in and cleaned up your yard and then your wood pile was replenished for the winter. Now you can be warm when it is chilly. There is a house two doors down that was foreclosed on several months ago and the yard and the greenery went unattended. The house has now sold and they were there this last weekend getting everything in order and the yard looks very nice now. Hope they move in soon.
Judy, hope you can get your eyes taken care of in Nov.
Good morning!
Jane, that is good news indeed! Praise the Lord for good neighbors; they must either know the Lord, or you are walking in the FOG (favor of God) and they don't even know why they are doing all this!! Either way, you are blessed. :) Thanks for your encouraging words; I was feeling like I couldn't even mention certain aspects of my life for fear of 'offending' another poster!
Judy, you sure don't owe me any apologies! I thought it rather nice to know people were thinking about me, even if for that reason. ;) May that whole family you mentioned be drawn into the family of God through this terrible experience. Too many people don't even seem to have a qualm about unwed pregnancies anymore. Sad.
Darrel did get one mower going again and mowed a lot of the stickers (sandburs) so that is a big help. We have a wonderful friend who is going to come help us for a whole day just before the sale, to get things put out on the flatbed trailers and ready. And a young man with the auctioneer will also be here to help arrange things the way the auctioneer likes them to be. I am praying about the weather, the crowds, etc.
About the sleeping problems (I'm going to be brave here and mention this!) I was listening to a doctor talking about it this morning; and he said we need to have our bedrooms as dark as possible. Light, especially from streetlights, robs our bodies of Serotonin and causes poor sleep. He said a yellowish light is okay, but not to have any white, red, blue or green light in the room. I looked around, and we have red and green lights from computer and clocks.......hmmmm. I will cover those and see if that helps. Probably won't make an immediate difference, but maybe with a little time it will. Our clock is especially bright, red light.
Larry, I wish I had your yard crew! Hope Pat is doing better and her foot is healing.
Oh Father, I pray You'll give Janet an overwhelming sense of confidence and peace, and of just leaving everything to You, and of knowing Your love so powerfully that she can just drift off into Your peace and sleep through our Lord Jesus.

Janet ~ I am so happy that you aren't offended. I sure didn't say it to offend anyone...that isn't in me! I mentioned my sleepless night by your name as a sign of love...to let you know that you are not alone in sleepless nights. My last sleepless night, I found out that Ivalou was awake also. I told her that I wish I had known...we could have had a slumber party! And I, too, have heard about lights in a room causing sleeplessness. Maybe we all need sleep masks!
Well, Ivalou was moved to a private room last evening. We were in the dining room waiting for Ivalou's dinner when a nurse came in and said a private room was available and that when she was done eating, she would be wheeled to her new room. So the nurse, Marge Zeller and I moved her things to her new room...#3913. My family all love the number 13...so maybe our Mom had a hand in this move. Her mother was born on Friday, the 13th and Mom and Dad were married on grandma's birthday on a Friday, the 13th. Anyway, she can have the blinds open now...the other lady wanted them shut tight because she is afraid of heights! What you see when you look out the window was the rooftop of the second floor!! Lots of room for visitors and the bathroom is larger also. I just know she slept better last night!
I am going to SAMs lunch today. Senior Adult Ministry with church members. Then I will go see Ivalou. She is improving so much. Yesterday she said she had some feeling in the side of her face. She ate really good last night...licked the platter clean...well, almost. She is on a regular diet now...was on a dysaphasia diet...chopped up meat. Nothing fried. And she didn't even get her bib or face dirty! And she stood alone by herself twice yesterday and walked for the therapist! She is coming along great! Thank you, God! o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

WOW and I was going to mention Don had a restless leg last night and he had to get up and watch t.v. for a while so that did the trick. I am so happy that he is meeting an old friend today for coffee because I have been so concerned about his losing touch with friends over this hearing loss. The children have already told me that they think he is going into a shell and avoiding too many things and he does like quiet.
Don: Thank you for devotions - that was very nice and meaningful. I so admire those who can put together a devotion.
JudyB: Prayers for the girl and her family situation.
Larry: It is sunny here.
Jane: Wonderful neighbors you have and they are keeping an eye on you and your place. Many blessings.
Etta Sue: IvaLou is progressing so nicely and it is great to hear from you. Take care of yourself too!!
I went to the church knitting group yesterday and our "leader" was there to talk about really feeling close to God and we all chatted about how sometimes we don't "feel" that close and yet we really are never far. My shawl will go to a man because it is so wide and I am calling it the "Forever Shawl" because it is taking me forever. Never again will make a prayer shawl with such small needles. Today, we will watch a g-daughter play Volleyball and meet with daughter & family for a quick supper before they go home.
Right down the road at Fort Carson, there have now been almost 300 soldiers killed in this war and many more wounded. It is a heavy toll on the families and the community. I know that I don't even have to ask you to pray for the troops.
Etta Sue that is great news about Ivalou. I am so glad to hear of her progress.
I was not offended by those who were calling their sleepless nights "Janet Nights", I just offered my own personal opinion that it was getting to be too much by other people using that phrase, it was used quite a few times in yesterdays postings. So lets move forward and forget about that. I didn't want to offend anyone. If someone was offended by what I said then so be it; it was not my intention
I have been trying to get the Kodak Easy share program downloaded to my Netbook and it keeps timing out. We are in a place where our DSL is on low speed and can't be upgraded to high speed. what a bummer!!!!!!!!
I gave Happy a bath int he bathtub this morning, that was a chore as he wanted to get out quickly and I had to hold on to him so I got pretty wet too. But he was still a good dog and let me wash him real good.
Jane: It you lived closer to us you would have been given a trees worth of wood, as we are have 2 pines and a maple cut down sometime next week.
Janet: About the bedroom we have been hearing that any form of distraction should be removed from the bedroom, my clock has a red light and for a long time I turn it away from my face I have thought it to be a mind thing but I also know that stress does interfere as well. Just this week a lot of stress was removed and yes I had a much better rest.
Carol: About Don's restless legs I had that for several years but I noticed that when I started taking calcium it has gone away. I do get the very odd day though.
My paint job is done and now I have started to remove a paper border in the computer room, I have been doing a slow removal which is working it was self pasted and if it is done right all I will have to do is wash the walls.
In a few minutes I am going to check my computer pictures as there are some I want to remove.
Marilyn: DSL is a pain but it is also better than dial up.
Have a great evening everyone and God Bless
Ruth
Etta Sue, I am loving all the great reports about Ivalou!! What a mighty God we serve! Her attitude is very commendable, as well. And I took the use of my name in reference to those nights as affectionate, so GMTA!
Al, a heartfelt thanks for that lovely prayer for me, and I add my hearty AMEN.
Ruth Ann, so glad you had a good trip. Someday, I surely want to meet you! Now please rest and recouperate for a while. :)
Ruth, glad your stress has been lessened. I'll bet your house is very attractive, seems you are always doing things to improve it.
Larry, how is Stacey? I pray she is improving rapidly.
I got quite a lot accomplished today, and Darrel and I moved some really heavy stuff. That hurt my right hand, which has been giving me quite a bit of trouble. I'm thinking we need to learn how to slow down! (Maybe after the auction?)
Carol, Don's hearing problem is just so sad. I feel so badly for him. And it just shouldn't have happened! I do pray he can get some help, and that it will get better. My hearing aids both just quit working about two weeks ago. I don't wear them faithfully, but am noticing more and more situations where I need them, and now they are shot. Makes me so :ticked: because they are extremely expensive, and when they found out I have had them about four years, they said the warranty is only good for three years. Grrr. Now I have to decide what to do, where to get some replaced, etc. They will "rebuild" them for $390, and guarantee them for one year. Phooey. Anyway, I can understand some of Don's frustration, and hope he doesn't become depressed and reclusive. That wouldn't be good.
Oops! Time to shut up!
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee and a quick stop at Kroger's for a couple of items. I plan to stay in today until evening, when I have a business meeting to attend. Yesterday morning my keyboard failed on my desktop. The b, n and m keys wouldn't type. So I discarded the keyboard and fortunately had another USB keyboard in storage so am back in business without having to purchase a new one.
We had heavy rain again in the early morning hours. While at coffee we saw a rainbow and a little blue sky and I think it is to clear off around 10 am. We didn't see the sun yesterday.
Janet, Stacey is better but not totally recovered. It is going to take her awhile to try to regain her strength. At least we can now understand her on the phone as her voice isn't so husky. Just going up the street to the grocery store seems to wear her out. Hopefully each day she is getting better. On the 15th she is to go to the pain clinic and have a shot put into her back. She has to be there at 7 am and we will go down early and take her to the hospital so she won't have to ride the bus and be by herself. She is hopeful that will aid the pain in her back.
Marilyn, could you take your Netbook to the local library, which will probably have a highspeed internet, and download the Kodak program?
Carol, sure hope that Don isn't withdrawing. Would hearing aids assist him? My best friend did great damage to his hearing by hammering to remove some shelving when he moved here about 5 years ago and now wears hearing aids in each ear. He purchased his off the Internet from the prescription he got the the hearing specialist and has been very pleased with them. You can't even tell he is wearing them unless you look closely as they sit behind the ear with a little clear tube into the ear. He can also adjust them on the computer to tweak them. If you would like more information on where he got them I can get that for you, just let me know. They were much less expensive than buying them locally.
Etta Sue, very encouraging to see the progress that Ivalou is making.
Hey there, everybody! I have been to see my chiropractor, now back home and ready to start my day.
Larry, would you please send me that information on the hearing aids? I will appreciate it so much.
Nothing new here, anyway not of interest to anyone but us. See you later!
Hello all: During the night we had a blast of wind as well as rain even now it is getting very windy. Just a plain cloudy day. Bright and early this morning the both of us went for coffee at Tim's we usually take a summer break then it becomes a weekly thing starting in the fall.
Janet: The changing of the room was my way of getting rid of stress/ closing doors sounds harsh but I do have trouble saying no and this is a way of doing it. The painting that was done should of happened many years ago, and myself not being an interior decorator was slow to realize the change would be so much better. All of this is costing time but not money.
Now back to work Ruth
Janet we would love to see some of the pics you have painted!
Ruth it would be nice to see the finished product. Perhaps you could post a picture?

Another red letter day for Ivalou. Today was the meeting with the doctor, social worker, head nurse, Ivalou and family. Kaye Don was there with me. ALL of them had nothing but praise about Ivalou. Said she is a hard worker and does everything they tell her to do. She surpassed the goals they set last Wednesday for the week! They are still saying 2-3 more weeks but that means she will be better when she does come home. Today in speech therapy it was all educational in telling us signs of strokes and how strokes heal and mend. Ivalou is encouraged to hear that more than likely she will gain feeling back in her right arm and leg.
I also stayed for PT and OT today. They really gave her a workout. She walked with assistance 28 feet with a half-walker. I had never seen a half-walker until this past week. She had assistance since she still wants to lock her right knee. Kaye Don also walked ahead of her backwards with a large mirror so Ivalou could see her right leg and where she was placing it. Amazing how the therapists train muscles and the mind to work!
I stopped at Arby's on the way home. When I got up this morning, I was either going to clean house or mow the lawn this afternoon. Since it is sunny, I mowed. Now it is time for relaxation and hopefully an early bedtime.
Oh, yes! Tony had his colonoscopy yesterday and they repaired two polyps and he has a hemorrhoid. Today he had the endoscopy but I haven't heard anything yet.
Inky and Ali are enjoying their 'Mommy' home early today!~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@

Another sleepless night here tonight. Too much going on in my mind . So here I sit, This is better than the TV.
There are new photos posted. Taks a look and leave a comment to encourage the photographer,
My wee dog has followed me from the bedroom and is sleeping beside me. She knows when I can't sleep.
I am off to check out more pictures,
Night all
Hi Judy
I'm still up! Paul and I have been trashing things as tomorrow (today) is garbage day!
Trash & Recycle Day here today. We can also haul all our recycles to a dumpster by a school as every two weeks isn't enough sometimes. The big laundry basket gets to be overflowing & Mr. Racoon likes to peek around the trash.
I was on the treadmill indoors today because: Don was snoring at 4:30 AM and would stop and start (this is not normal, thank heaven). I just gave up and started coffee, and listening to a talk radio program that is a very liberal Dem but he actually goes out and gets the facts on what is happening - I wish everyone would listen to this program & open their eyes. "nuf said.
Ruth: We both take calcium so that doesn't help and this goes off and on so it is hard to pinpoint the cause. We do all the right things and he has never slept well in his life. It is fun to freshen up a room, isn't it?
Janet: Don has hearing aids and he does wear them but they do begin to hurt at the end of any day. . Sorry for your problem now.
Larry: Thanks, we will keep Don's spirits up. He does that himself about 95% of the time.
Janet & Larry: Please send on the hearing info to my email - I forgot who has the information.
I am really enjoying the bible study - the lesson or lecture if you will, is terrific -

Not much has happened since I posted. Tony got a good report from his colonoscopy and his endoscopy. They repaired two polyps in his colon and he says he feels better than he has felt all summer. And he has the okay to ride his Harley this weekend!
Today is the Class of 1960 luncheon. It is rainy and cloudy today. I will go see Ivalou after lunch! >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^<

Judy, sorry about your 'Janet night'. (I couldn't resist, sorry.)
I slept pretty well, until around 5 this morning. I know lots of people get up that early, but it surely hasn't been my habit. However, I did get a nap in my recliner before Darrel got up.
Ruth, we have lived in this house for about 12 or 15 years now, and it is getting in need of some repairs and redoing. Maybe later....just now, we have our hands full with the approaching sale. Glad you got yours done. About closing doors, we hade a mistake in designing this house, have a door between the living room and our bedroom. We needed the rest of the space on that wall for the big entertainment center, so we just closed the door (not permanently) and put the entertainment center in front of it. The door doesn't even show from the living room side. Works for us!
Carol, I try to stay current on the world events, especially those here in the U.S. It does get discouraging, though. If I didn't have the assurance that God is in control, it would really be unsettling. Bad enough as it is! We really need to be gathering in the harvest.
I just saw on TV that China's one child policy, and their practice of aborting girls is having the effect of such a gender imbalance that 30 million Chinese men will not be able to find wives. Be sure your sins will find you out!!
Darrel says time to go, so I'd better go!
Tis OK Janet. I believe you coined the phrase anyway, a couple of weeks back. There is a lot going on. John being off has set our finances back the 9 weeks he was off. Then there are the typical teen issues. But the thing that has caused me the most sleeplessness is this situation JOhn and I have to deal with on Saturday. This 15 yo is a total rebel, and she really needs a maturity boost. I am concerned for the step father. I just pray that we are able to help him work through the issues.
Pat I didn't come back to Thoughts didn't see your reply till today.
John was home for about an hour, we had a cupps, and a grilled cheese, then he was gone again. He will be back tomorrow evening....I hope.
Bye foe now
Judy
Pat's son posted this on facebook. It is the funniest video and will give you a smile for the day!
Home alone...

These people were always finding water all over their pool deck and
furniture, every time they came home, after being away for a few hours. They thought the neighbourhood kids were watching for them to leave, and using the pool. However, they could never catch them doing it. So, they set up their video cam and left. This is what they found out.

Good afternoon: It is a most wonderful day lots of sun and a little breeze.
I have my transformation almost done, all that is left is getting the last of the paste off the walls, has anyone heard of using Windex? I will be giving it a try but I think hot soapy water is the answer.
Just yesterday I made a call to a place in California ordering 3 pieces of cutlery, while chatting with them, they also buy back items as well.
Judy: No need for a picture really it is just the same color minus the border which does give a larger look, with the bed gone I have been able to bring in a couple of chairs and under each chair I have placed a braided mat that my grandmother had done perhaps 50 yrs ago at least with care it goes to show how long they can last.
Carol: It proves that what works for one does not work for the next person.
Pat: It can be fun throwing stuff in the garbage.
Our landfill is open 5 days a week and available for all residents. 30 gallon trash bags cost $3 each. Recyclables, separated into newpapers, glass, magazines, plastic (limited as to type), cans and corrugated cardboard can be placed in the specific bins at no charge. Garbage/trash pickup can be hired at the rate of about $15 a month for two trash bags a week, the lowest rate, which is a good bit more than I pay taking it myself and they don't take recyclables so I'd have to go to the landfill, anyway.
Today I have to power wash my trailer. I scrubbed and scoured until it looked fine to me, but the park management is insisting on power wash. :ticked: To hire it done would be way over my budget so I went to the local hardware store and found I could purchase a relatively small unit for about 1/2 the cost of hiring someone and I can pay it off in three months. Now to see if the park management will be satisfied. A huge more powerful machine is available to rent for even less, but I'd never be able to handle it.
Thanks for the hint, Jeanne. Friends need a way to get rid of their trash (minimal), and have to pay for garbage pickup. I'll tell them about going to the landfill, there's a "convenience center" only about 5-6 miles from where they live.
Gotta go, but wanted to wish all of you a wonderful day with our Lord.
Hello everyone. No time to stop for long. Everything is going well here and I am keeping busy. I pray God will bless you one and all..
We are excited because grandson's hockey game will be on the web cam tonight at 6:15 our time. Don knows how to hook up the laptop with the t.v. set so we hope this will work.
I bought a strange tall lamp at Goodwill for the cabin and not one shade fits it so Don drove me and the floor lamp to a specialty shop where I was able to order a shade for $15. It is called a Bridge lamp and the shade screws onto the lamp itself. It is so heavy that it has to have been very expensive but a thrift shop is a terrific place to find the perfect fit sometimes. We sat and had a cup of coffee afterward with a large group of girls who were not too wound up today.
Jeanne: Take care - power washing is a difficult job. I have helped on decks but not had to lift the hose to the exterior of a house. You are building muscles.
Has everyone seen the signs on the road that our money (TARP) is going towards that road repair? Each sign costs between $1,000 and $2,000 - the signs are MANDATORY.
JudyB: It takes a lot of time to recoup the money lost while John was off work and this time of the year with the cold settling in and so forth, I wish you well. Are you doing any sewing? Knitting?
Carol, no sewing or knitting. I have collected info and recipes to add to Melaura's cook book that I gave her 2 years ago. I am putting them onto the puter so I can add the pages to her binder. I am thinking of doing a cookbook up for each of the girls, but too do that I have to get the one from Melaura and surprisingly she is resistant to parting with it!. That is my big project for now.
Also this is getting rid of a lot of paper garbage.
Hi, all. Maycie is napping and I'm checking in. Actually I've been "here" all morning, but not really. I came in and was going to post, but didn't get to. I just left the window open till now. :) So........if you saw me and thought I was lurking....I wusunt.
Speaking of Janet nights.......I DIDN'T have one.lol I went to bed at 9, and slept soundly till 4 am. I was wide awake, so just got up and started my day. At 7 AM, it was just barely light. Fall is certainly here.
Judy, I didn't look at the video, but think it was the same one that was on our Fox news last night. The water slide? I'll go back and look at yours now. edit: Yes, it's the same one. That is the cutest thing. He certainly knows what he likes.
I couldn't get the video. :(
Carol, a doctor recommended quinine to me for restless leg syndrome. And later, our heart doctor recommended the diet tonic water, 4 ounces at bedtime. It seems to work for me, and very cheap if Don wants to try it.
We have been having rain, and it is now very cold. Killing frost expected tonight, so we picked our tomatoes. Sigh.......I am not ready to give them up.
I wish you all a good evening.
I take the 4 oz of Tonic water at bedtime and now I have also placed a bar of soap under the fitted bottom sheet at the foot of the bed. That is an old stand by that I forgot about. I do not have RLS but I do get cramps in my calves and feet at night.
My sister and brother-in-law swear by the soap in the bed. Sounds hokey to me, but whatever works, works. They try everything that comes down the pike. The tonic water does contain quinine, and much cheaper than a prescription.
It is still overcast here, looks cold, but I haven't stuck my head out yet! I'm sure I will find something to do no matter what the weather. We are praying the wet weather gets finished and good weather returns next week in time for the sale.
Judy, I would love to show you my paintings, but I do not remember how to post photos. If I knew how, I would love to change my photo here.
I need and want to read some more Scriptures, seem to need an extra dose today!
I can believe the quinine water (tonic) might work, and it sounds like a good idea, but the bar of soap? I suggest for those who want to try something like that that they try it with and without the bar of soap. I suspect it will be the same either way. Last I heard, soap does not radiate anything. It's inert, doesn't do anything to what's around it, except possibly for a nice odor. Just a suggestion.
:) I have to wonder what a bar of soap can do for restless legs. Certainly will try the tonic water though. He keeps water or rather lemon in water by the bed & sips it at night usually.
JudyB: You made me think of my idea before we moved and that was to put all my family recipes onto a site that can store & print. Now to find that site again. What a lovely idea. I know we used to do this for brides and I was happy to receive favorite recipes 47 years ago as a bride. Loved the homemade bread recipes that said only "add flour" and I was able to figure it out only because mom and I made bread every week.
We did watch our grandson play hockey in Faribault, Minnesota last night via a streaming web cam. They won 3 to 1. He was playing quite slack, we thought. Not a lot of energy in the entire game from anyone but 8th graders play as well as high school students in Don's time. It is amazing.
Temperatures are half of normal now. It is Winter.
Have a blessed day all.
By the way - I don't mean to pooh pooh anybodie's ideas in here. My above post is purely IMHO.
HAHA! I tried the soap last night and didn't get any RLS. However... I don't get it every night so I guess that's not really a test. ;)
Yesterday I did get about 90% of the power washing done. Now I only need to figure out how to get enough pressure above my reach for the peak and soffit over the door. Of course, I could probably use a step ladder to get up high enough, but I don't do ladders very well these days. Maybe I can catch my neighbor tomorrow when he's home from work.
Hi everyone. This has been a very busy two days and I didn't even get here to read messages yesterday. Pat had three doctor appointments or tests yesterday. She did see the foot doctor and while there is still infection he felt it was much better and that the body could go ahead and heal without taking further antibiotics. However, he gave her a prescription for some high powered ones that cost at COSTCO over $100 or 7 pills. I will get it filled at Kaiser for $25.
We went out to lunch with Stacey yesterday and she is looking pretty good and feeling better each day. Hopefully the new medication will stop the vomiting and nausea.
Today I got the oil changed in one of the cars, stopped a Fry's to check on something and get some camera batteries, and then came home and finished getting things ready for the pressure washer person. He got here a little before noon and has been working about 2 hours. It has probably been three years since that was done because of the drought we had and it was really needed. Our screened in porch was particularly bad. Maybe we will be able to use it a few times before it turns cold and again next spring.
Janet and Carol, I wrote to my friend about the hearing aids and will send you the info he provides me as to the website and anything else he shares as soon as I get it.
Speaking of the quinine water Pat bought a small bottle and has never opened it but has it sitting on the kitchen counter. Since she bought it her legs haven't bothered her. We have laughed about this several times. I did a quick search on the bar of soap and there were almost 9,000 hits in the seach engine. Numerous people attested to it helping or eliminating the leg cramps. Here is one of the sites I looked at: http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2005/12/07/soap-under-the/ (http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2005/12/07/soap-under-the/)
According to that article It seem like it has to be Ivory soap. Thanks for posting that article Larry, I sure felt like some here were laughing at me for talking about the bar of soap.
I have baked a cake this morning and vacuumed the whole house, mopped the kitchen floor, washed up the plastics and a pot from last night, and polished the stainless steel sinks with Bar Keepers Friend cleanser, I use that cleanser on my stainless steel cookware to keep them nice and shiny, then frosted the cake after the floor was dry. Swept the long deck off the kitchen and dining room and part of the family room, changed my clothes, put on a little makeup, then took the dogs for their walks. Next I will fix lunch for Keith and . That just about does it for today, I will take the dogs for another walk this afternoon but it won't be as long as this morning.

We had a fairly nice showing for our class lunch yesterday. Seemed they were enjoying chatting and didn't want to leave. That was nice.
Today I went to church and uploaded some images on the church computer. Then I went to Bath and Body to get some Room Spray...love their room spray and it is on sale right now.
Near there is a new Taco Bell. Seems that my county is wild about Round-abouts! To get to this Taco Bell there is a round-about with 5 roads! It isn't complete and there are still some barriers in places. Quite confusing unless you know what is going on. Where Kitty and I go swimming, there are over 50 round-abouts in that town!
I got a card from the USPS yesterday saying I had a certified letter. So I stopped at the P.O. in Noblesville and got it. I cancelled my home security September the 2nd. And even called October 1st to make sure it is cancelled and I wouldn't be billed for October. I wasn't told I would be getting a certified letter. Now this letter sounds like it isn't cancelled until I send back a form. Why did they take this long to send a certified letter? Now I have to check my bank account online to see if they deducted the payment on October 2nd. Always something!!
Then I went to the hospital. Kaye Don came in so I left and I am doing laundry for Ivalou and me.
Rainy, dark and dreary day in Indiana.

What's RLS?
Pat RLS is Restless Legs Syndrome.

Thanks Marilyn!
People get a real kick out of it.
Al, that's a real groaner! ;)
I hadn't heard that the soap helped restless leg syndrome, but that it helps leg cramps. My sis says she keeps a bar in the bed for a few weeks, then switches it out for a new one and puts the first one in the shower. Cheap remedy, if it works! Never occurred to me to look it up online, though! ;)
I visited the care home this afternoon, that always leaves me feeling tired and if I'm not on guard, a little depressed, because of Beth's condition. :'(
Pat RLS is what mom had. The sensation of bugs running up and down the legs. It is absolutely terrible. It is worse if you are tired. Also If you can get to sleep before it starts it is not quite so bad.. I use the quinine...that is the only thing that helps me.
:snowman:
Larry: Thanks for sending along that information. It sure sounds like it is still best for us to find someone local if that is what the doctor's message in late November will be when Don sees him. I am glad that just looking at the quinine water will stop Pat's RLS ;) Let us hope that Stacey continues to get over that nausea & vomiting episode.
P. Al: Love your sense of humor.
Jeanne: Good one!
Janet: :grouphug:

I called Kaye Don and told him about the tonic water and the Ivory soap. Barb has RLS. He said nothing has helped her yet so he was going to get some tonic water and Ivory soap!
I am waiting on Jo, my niece, to come and pick up Ivalou's clean clothes. I am going swimming with Kitty later and not visiting Ivalou today. Will let Jo visit and Teresa and Lauren (another niece and g-niece...Lauren is the one that had the double-mastectomy Sep 29) if they come today also. Hope to see them all this evening!
Sun is shining. It has been rainy and cloudy all week. The sun looks so pretty! @_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@

Thanks, Carol, I needed a hug. :)
Another misty-moisty morning here in SW Kansas. Sure is interferring with our sale preparations, but the outlook is for better weather next week. The sale is a week from today! :o
Larry, I do hope Stacey is continuing to improve. And Pat, too. I saw that Atlanta has had more rain! Goodness, from the desert to the swamp, wish there was a compromise on your weather.
I also saw that North Platte, Nebraska has 17 inches of snow on the ground!! WOW! That is very near where my sister lives. Brrrr.
I think I will get the laundry caught up and some other indoor chores, since we can't do much in the rain.
Etta Sue, my sister says it doesn't matter what brand of bar soap you use. Still sounds pretty strange to me........
We have a lovely day today and later on we will be headed to not so local fair it seems to have what we enjoy the ladies bldg, horse & tractor pull for both of us with a lovely rest near by for our dinner.
Marilyn: My you are a busy lady.
Larry: Good to hear that Stacey is some better.
Al: The bar of soap was a new one for me something I would have tried many years ago and even the tonic water but for now calcium tablets are working.
Ruth I am glad to hear the calcium tablets are working for you. Last night I didn't get any cramps in my legs so I guess the bar of soap is working. Although there are some nights that I don't get them; no foot cramps either, pain in my calves. I did take may pain pills yesterday, I had skipped them for a couple of days to see if it made any difference. The pain pills are for the pain in my ball of my foot and the arthritis n my hands. That steroid shot I had in the thumb joint of my left hand sure did the trick, the only time that hand gets painful is when it gets too cold.
Pat how is Geordie doing? I think about him frequently and wonder how he is.
Hi everyone. We had a most enjoyable afternoon. We meet our son and our daughter-in-law in Madison, Georgia at the Cracker Barrel for a late dinner. We had a nice visit. This location is about halfway for each of us and only an hour from our house. We have decided to do this a few times a year. His birthday later this month and we expect to be away at that time so today worked out well.
I think our rain is over for a few days and it will be cooler here.
I'm just catching up on all the posts. I noticed some of us has bad nights in recent times. Me too. Was there a full moon? Ha Ha
Oct 7 was one of my worst nights. The pain in my new knee kept waking me up, medication did not help at all. I moved from bed to La-Z-Boy to couch and back to bed. Next day I catnapped most of the day.
Last night was my best sleeping night since before my knee operation. Woooo Woo-ooooo.
Larry: thanks for the link to the RLS page. My wife has it, but not all the time. I'm printing a couple of pages of replies for her to read.
Planning on going to church tomorrow. Have not been since first Sunday in September.
Today was the coffee meeting with The parents of Elizabeth's friend. This is not an easy situation, a pregnant 15 yo and determined to keep the baby. Those parents are in for a real roller coaster ride. They don't have the faith in a good God that er have. I do feel sorry for them. We are trying to give as much support as we can. Please continue to pray for John Elizabeth and I as we try to help. A bonus is that their young daughter 7, goes to a local Bible believing church, kids club. The mom helps out and is getting the 15 yo to put in her volunteer hours in helping as well.
We had family here for dinner. What a good time we had. Every topic imaginable was discussed.
Well we are both tired and heading to bed.
:) It is very late or very early but I just wanted to let you all know that I talked to Colin in Ireland by phone the other day and he has need of our prayer as he has been doing a caregiver for his sick mum. I told him that we miss his great writtings and hoped to see him back on our web site. I also thimk that he has been sick too. Good night. God bless you all. Gord. <3
Another Lord's Day, another opportunity to go and worship Him with other members of the Body of Christ.
Our 40% chance of snow yesterday and last night hasn't brought any of the white stuff, but it is still cold and wet. Yesterday we went to the grocery store and noticed all the cars that hadn't been in a garage were sheathed in ice. I am so thnkful to have a garage to keep the car in--for a lot of years mine set outside. Scraping ice on those cold mornings wasn't a lot of fun.
I got several things done yesterday. Laundry, cleaning, phone calls, and I even did some painting! I painted chickadees on a little wooden sled, and it turned out nice. Then I base coated two wooden Gs for Beth's friend Gloria G. at the care home. She has been wanting me to do that since she saw the big wooden B I made for outside Beth's door. And I even watched a movie while I was doing that. So it was a good day. Oh, yes, I finished reading a strange old book last night, too. It was published in 1940, is so old and crackly the pages break if you aren't careful. I kept thinking it would get more interesting, and it did, but still a really strange book. The title is Tiger Tiger....don't ask me why! Anyway, I don't recommend it even if you found it, I think it was a waste of time. >:(
James Merritt is preaching an interesting sermon on Angels and Demons. I am listening! :)
Hi everyone. It is a sunny day here in Georgia but just heard the forecast for tomorrow and suppose to be more heavy rain in our area. I noticed the first trees beginning to show red leaves at the top yesterday so know fall is on the way. Everything is still very green here with all the moisture.
Pat and I will go to church this morning. This will be her first time back since her foot surgery. She is now able to wear her show all day but is still fighting the infection on the top of her foot.
Gord, good to get the report from Colin. Sorry to read that his mum is sick and that he has to care for her. However, we do what we have to do when those times come.
I actually slept in later this morning since I didn't have to leave the house early.
Judy, hope your meeting went well. It sounds like the young lady needs a lot of support.
Janet, glad the snow missed you. We had tentatively planned a trip that would include a stop in Northern Michigan but have decided it is getting too late in the year so will just go to Missouri and Iowa instead on this trip. It will be awhile before we go.
News Flash!!! Soap at the foot of the bed doesn't stop RLS! :ticked:

Hi Ruth!
I've found Downey fabric softener just marvelous for the wallpaper glue, etc. I put about 1/2 cup into a spray bottle and then fill with boiling water and it's amazing. That's how I remove it.
Well, my computer isn't working. I'm on Paul's. Hoping that the fellow in Guelph, will be able to help via the telephone. Just got his phone number to call him. Great to have good neighbours who you trust with the key to your house!
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians!!!
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving
Thanks Marilyn!

1. To attack the character or reputation of; speak ill of; defame.
2. To disparage; belittle: The critics have denigrated our efforts.
I definitely do not wish to denigrate any individual who believes that a bar of soap in the bed will relieve symptoms of RLS or cramps or any other malady. However, while holding very tightly to the principle of non-denigration as it applies to any individual, it does strike me as highly unlikely that a bar of soap can relieve such symptoms. For such an approach to relief to be even slightly credible its explanation would have to include credible reasons for its success. None have been advanced. The suggestion of such a remedy, therefore, is preposterous and ludicrous. I will be the first (or at least second or third) to welcome any information to the contrary.
Yeah, Al .... What you just said. ???
Yea Al What you said...Didn't work for me, Last night was another painful sleepless night.
I know it is kind of early but this gal is tired...tired...tired. Busy day but a great day with family and friends.
So with that being said, a new Thought for the Week is here (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=9069.msg139549#msg139549).
