:) Quote of the Week
My basic principle is that
you don't make decisions
because they are easy;
you don't make them
because they are cheap;
you don't make them
because they're popular;
you make them
because they're right.

Morning Devotional...
Two Political Trials
Luke 23:1-12 NLT
Then the entire council took Jesus to Pilate, the Roman governor. They began to state their case: "This man has been leading our people astray by telling them not to pay their taxes to the Roman government and by claiming he is the Messiah, a king."
So Pilate asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
Jesus replied, "You have said it."
Pilate turned to the leading priests and to the crowd and said, "I find nothing wrong with this man!"
Then they became insistent. "But he is causing riots by his teaching wherever he goes—all over Judea, from Galilee to Jerusalem!"
"Oh, is he a Galilean?" Pilate asked. When they said that he was, Pilate sent him to Herod Antipas, because Galilee was under Herod's jurisdiction, and Herod happened to be in Jerusalem at the time.
Herod was delighted at the opportunity to see Jesus, because he had heard about him and had been hoping for a long time to see him perform a miracle. He asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer. Meanwhile, the leading priests and the teachers of religious law stood there shouting their accusations. Then Herod and his soldiers began mocking and ridiculing Jesus. Finally, they put a royal robe on him and sent him back to Pilate. (Herod and Pilate, who had been enemies before, became friends that day.)
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FStarblinking.gif&hash=27e115f9cd5672d07457eb7160f143473dc479d4)In what ways did your childhood and background prepare you to respond to Jesus?
Pilate was the Roman governor of Judea, where Jerusalem was located. He seemed to take the special pleasure in harassing the Jews. For example, Pilate had taken money from the Temple treasury and had used it to build an aqueduct. And he insulted the Jewish religion by bringing imperial images into the city. As Pilate well knew, such acts could backfire.
If the people were to lodge a formal complaint against his administration, Rome might remove him from his post. Pilate was already beginning to feel insecure in his position when the Jewish leaders brought Jesus to trial. Would he continue to badger the Jews and risk his political future, or would he give in to their demands and condemn a man who, he was quite sure was innocent?
That was the question facing Pilate that springtime Friday morning nearly two thousand years ago. Under the circumstances, how would you have responded?

What a wonderful day! Church to worship our Lord. Sunday School to study and learn more about our Lord. Lunch with my lady friends and give thanks for the food that we ate. Then off to see Ivalou.
Ivalou was visiting with her two daughters, Jo and Teresa from Ohio and granddaughter, Lauren. Lauren looks so great! Such a beautiful young lady and a beautiful attitude about her breast surgery! She is amazing along with her Grandma! Then another of Ivalou's granddaughters, Crystal, came in with g-granddaughter, Kailyn. She is the cutest little 10 month old red-headed little girl with the cutest turned up little nose. She showed us her repertoire from patty-cakes to giving you the raspberries (thanks to big brother, Connal).
Then another granddaughter, Melissa, came with husband, Steve, daughter, Alexis, and son, Eli. Then a couple from church came with communion for Ivalou. Then another two ladies from church came. We were accused of having a party!!! Glad Ivalou is in a private room now!! And we all kind of left at once while Ivalou was eating her dinner. We are all blessed with a wonderful family and a bunch of great friends.
I am having a big day tomorrow. I have to make some cookies for Photo Guild tomorrow evening. Kitty and I are in charge of the refreshments so we have to be there early, too. So I told Ivalou I would see her Tuesday! Also want to run the sweeper and move furniture in the living room!^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+

Etta Sue, you are really keeping on the go these days! Thanks for another good report on Iva Lou and Lauren. Praise God!
When my sister told me about the soap remedy, I didn't even have enough confidence in it to try it! ;) But they still say it works for them. Funny.
Beth called and asked me to wish Darrel a happy birthday for her, and also to please bring some of her long-sleeved shirts to her. We didn't ever get snow, but we have had a misty rain which is freezing on every surface constantly. My daughter Diane and husband Jeff have gone to Topeka for a few days, but Abby is staying with a cousin of Jeff's, since we are busy with the sale preparations.
According to the reports, our weather is to clear off by Tuesday and be nice for the weekend. I pray it is so!
I went into my studio and got those two Gs done for Gloria, now I won't have to worry about them.
I offered to take Darrel out to lunch today for his birthday, but he declined. So we came home and made chili, always good on a cold day!
Now isn't all of this just fascinating??
I believe that part of what causes something to work for you is the belief that it will. We know God has given us powerful minds and our thoughts, or beliefs, can make changes in our body. If something seems to work and you begin to believe it works, then for you....it works. Right? :)
I wouldn't spend much time, Al, (lol) poopoo-ing an idea that has no scientific proof, yet many believe it works.....because it works for them.
I've been having leg and calf cramps the last few nights. I did some reading and started taking my B complex, calcium w/d, magnesium and extra potassium at night. I take them anyway, but now take them at bedtime. I read that Icy Hot is good if you rub it on your calves. I did that, and then used one of those things you put in the microwave and heat...has rice in it, and covered with a flannel cover. Sort of like a heating pad, but used for neck pain. I stretched it out along behind my knee and down my calf. I didn't cramp at all that night. Last night I didn't use it, and the cramps were back. Maybe I'll get some soap and quinine water next.
I just went to the site Larry posted the link for and read a bunch of the testimonials about the soap remedy. Very interesting that most of them didn't think it could possibly help, but it helped a lot of them. Then I got to thinking.....we don't have to understand HOW a thing works to benefit from it. I don't understand how electricity works, but am glad that when I flip a switch I get light! Anyway, there is nothing wrong or evil about a bar of soap, so it is worth a try, and as far as I know, it cannot harm you. But I would still like to know WHY it helps some people! ;)
I couldn't believe how much info is on the net re soap. Even Ann Landers says it has worked for many people. Snopes says it is "undetermined". As most holistic or alternative things are not proven as in lab tests, so is the soap remedy. :) Here's what i found on Yahoo Answers:
Most leg cramp maladies can be associated with dehydration and depletion of potassium. Gator-ade has sodium chloride, which replenishes lost potassium, as well as rehydrates. Amazingly enough, most bar soaps also contain sodium chloride. During sleep, it is absorbed through the skin from the bar of soap.
Glad to hear that you both are doing some of the research. I don't know why it works for some people and not others, or some times works and other times doesn't. Night before last my legs were fine all night and when I got up yesterday morning. However this morning my legs started bothering me around 4 am I think the numbness was from the neuropathy, At least I didn't get any leg cramps.
Pat: Thanks for the idea to use fabric softener, other things I tried failed the best seemed to be the windex but I will try your idea another time if there is one.
A cool but sunny day we sure needed a jacket. For us this was just a relaxing day Mel & I had our own Thanksgiving dinner then tomorrow we will be having dinner with our daughter and family.
Last evening was not a good night for sleeping, if only I could wipe the slate clean.
Time to shut down God Bless Ruth
:) Good evening to all. I am happy to say that I only get a cramp once in a blue moon and thank the Lord for that. :)
Etta Sue: It is amazing that you havesuch a great familyand it is so nice that they are all coming to see Ivalou. She sounds like she is regaining some strength. May the Lord give you the strength to be helpful to your sister.Gord. <3
Janet: Hope you and Darrel are doing well and had a great Sunday. :coffee:
Nita. What you said is so true regarding what God has given to us especially when you try a new product and you feel that it works. Don't quit when you feel it is doing something for you. Gord. :)
Al: How are your nights going for you. are you still in the lazy boy or have you graduated back to your bed. :)
Larry: Hope you and Pat are well. I s your daughter getting more strength back I do hope so. :coffee:
Paul and Pat.: How are things at the house coming along ? Don't work to hard.
Well to all others on C.P. have a wonderful week and May the Lord be with you all and may he give you lots of op pertunities to witness for him. God bless and have a great night. <3 :cp:
:)ETTA SUE.I FORGOT TO SAY TO YOU THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT DEVOTIONAL. <3
Good talking to you Gord. Have a great night and give my love to Noreen.
It's been 21 days since Smokey was diagnosed with cancer so I thought I'd let you all know how he is doing.
We've been taking him on walks as often as we can, going to some of the local parks. He has got his appetite back, and he is almost like he was back in August when all this started. Prednisone sure has helped. We didn't think he would make it to his 9th birthday which was October 1st. We are spoiling him terribly, and enjoying the good days we are having!
I am resting after making cookies before cleaning the house.
I hope attached to this is a photo I took yesterday. It is Ivalou in the wheelchair. On the left with the red-headed little girl is Ivalou's granddaughter and g-granddaughter, Crystal and Kailyn. Crystal is Ivalou's son, Jeff's daughter. Next to Crystal is Ivalou's daughter, Jo. Next to her is Ivalou's granddaughter, Lauren, that had the double-mastectomy two-weeks ago tomorrow. Then next is Teresa, Ivalou's oldest daughter and Lauren's mother.
Lauren looks so good and she is taking all the information in from all the surgeons and specialists. She sees the oncologist sometime this week and will know then when chemo may start. She has to be healed from the surgery first. But right now she knows she will have strong chemo for 6 months and chemo tablets monthly after that for 5 years! She is the youngest person that the surgeon has operated on for breast cancer...also the plastic surgeon.
Ivalou keeps continuing to improve daily. She said she was really tired from all the therapy but knows that is what is getting her better. Bless her heart, when I left yesterday, she waved bye to me with her right hand. Then said, 'Did you see what I just did?' I shook my head, no. Then she waved again. Little things that we take for granted is a milestone for others who think it has been taken away from them.
God is good!

Etta Sue, what a wonderful photo!
Got this in an email this morning:
Psychology Course
During a phone conversation, my nephew mentioned that he was taking a psychology course at the university.
"Oh, great," I said. "Now you'll be analyzing everyone in the family."
"No, no," he replied. "I don't take abnormal psychology until next semester."
*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

Etta Sue Thank you for the devotional. That picture ...how many generations is it?
Good one Janet
Etta Sue: Lovely picture of all. Thanks for devotions - I believe that Pilate made a political move in condemning Jesus and for the reason that he did not want any more flack from the Jewish who were critical and jealous of Jesus.
Gord: Thanks for the note on Colin. It is very sweet that Colin is taking such good care of his mother.
Janet: Chickadees used to be outside the kitchen of our house in Seattle - love them. It was nice of you to paint the initial for Beth's friend too. Good luck with the weather & hope it doesn't hinder the sale.
Jeanne: LOL on your soap comment.
Pat: Happy Thanksgiving to all in Canada! You can really celebrate twice now. ::)
Al: Great posting. I will be looking for your answer to Gord's question too.
It was 18* F when I went to church yesterday at the early service. Don did not go and we still have not heard if they will put hearing aids in the chapel area. Like every place else, the money keeps dwindling - they really cut back more and more to balance their budget though.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian Folk
Etta Sue: Thanks for sharing the lovely picture.
Later in the afternoon we will be going to our daughters for dinner, on our way over there we will be picking up our Aunt then dipping south and picking up our granddaughter to go as well.
I baked a pumpkin crumble pie to take something new, it is the regular pumpin filling with a crumble made with oatmeal, sugar, butter and pecans, it was suggested to serve it whipped cream I think the latter will be left off.
Ruth
Ruth, that pumpkin pie sounds so delicious!
I bet that pie would be good with chopped walnuts too.

I am so glad you are having a good time with Smokey. The last days can be so precious. Praying for you and the family in the days to come.
Hi everyone. Please send a boat!! We have once again had a tremendous amount of rain in a short time and certain areas are flooding again and a number of counties are under a flood watch. By the time I went to coffee this morning we had had 1.4 inches of rain in our area and it continued to rain hard all morning. It has now slacked off but suppose to drizzle tonight. More rain possible tomorrow and I heard the weatherman on the radio this morning say that we can have a repeat of this again on both Wednesday and Thursday. I sure hope that changes before Thursday.
I took my other car in for an oil change this morning (in all the rain) and picked up a prescription for Pat. Today my men's group went to a Cajun place and we all had jambalaya and it was very good. I brought about half of mine home so will have another meal from it. The housekeeper was here today but I think the lawn people will probably not come today, which is fine with me.
The man who pressure washed my house last week called this morning saying he had lost the check I had given him. Unfortunately I had left the payee blank because I didn't know how he would want it made it. He is pretty certain he lost it just up the street from the house. I am hoping the rain washed it into the storm drainage system but will call the bank first thing in the morning to put a stop payment on it. Better to pay the $25 or $30 fee than have it cashed by someone else if it were found. I will mail the man who washed my house another check tomorrow. He worked hard and these things happen.
Etta Sue, that was really a nice pictures of Ivalou's family. So glad she is doing so well.
Have read all the other postings but won't try to comment on them today.
Larry I am surprised they charge that much for a stop payment on a check. We put a stop payment on a regular withdrawal and there was no charge. Sounds like highway robbery to me!
Sorry to hear about the rain. A lot of people are affected by that. I will be praying.
Pat Happy Thanksgiving Have a good day . Love you sis!
The rest of us Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving!
Ruth would that be a typical crisp topping just adding pecans? Enjoy your time with family.
OK I am challenging all of us here to get some exercise. I put in 20 minutes skipping, walking and stepping up onto stairs. I know I need encouragement to keep going and would like to encourage others!
Judy, around here it's a $50 charge to stop payment on a check. And in some banks it's only good for six months - after that if you want to renew it for another six months you pay another $50. :ticked:
I hope all you and all of our Canadian friends are having a great Thanksgiving.
Again Jeanne that is a rip off!
He's indescribable. He's incomprehensible. He's invincible. He's irresistible. Well you can't get him out of your mind. You can't get him off your hand. You can't outlive Him and can't live without Him. The Pharisees couldn't stand Him, but they couldn't stop him. Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him. Herod couldn't kill Him. Death couldn't handle Him, and the grave couldn't hold Him...do you know Him???
It also costs $25 to put a stop payment on a check here. It has been that much for several years. Sorry about the lost check, Larry, and hope the check wasn't picked up by someone who would try to cash it.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OUR CANADIAN FRIENDS!!
Ruth, that pumpkin pie does sound yummy! I'm not crazy about pumpkin pie, but that sounds better than just the plain one. I know pumpkin is good for us. And....you don't need to wipe the slate clean. Just ask the Lord to do it for you. Hugs (((((()))))))
Judy, I have heard that black preacher (can't think of his name just now) read that several times. Powerful!
I hope you aren't still getting rain, Larry. We are still getting misty rain, not a problem except for delaying our sale preparations. That doesn't start to compare with flooding and damage, so I am thanking God for that.
I got more done today for the sale in spite of the moisture. Moved more paintings from the dome, and sorted through more boxes we had moved earlier. Then I did a little painting.
Gloria was SO thrilled with her Gs!! Goodness, I have never seen such a big smile on her face! And she already had two little nails in the wall outside her room to hang them on! She said they were so pretty she might just have to stay out in the hall all day just looking at them. That made me glad I took the time to do them for her. :)
Etta Sue, Iva Lou looks just wonderful! And so does Lauren! Thanks for posting that lovely photo.
It is so sad to hear about Smokey and only 9 years old. I know Judy also lost Jake to cancer at a young age. I will also be praying for your family and Smokey.

KARMA
:hb2: :hb2: :hb2:
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee. It is an overcast day but not suppose to rain very much, if at all today. However, tomorrow and again on Thursday they are saying we may have another 2 to 3 iinches each day. Things are really soggy in the Atlanta area.
Stacey has a doctor's appointment at Grady today and has to get medicine so sure glad it isn't raining. Unfortunately, on Thursday she has to be there at 7 am for a epidural shot in her back from the pain and we will take her. Sure hope it isn't poring rain at the time as have to use the transport chair. However, we will deal with that when the time comes.
I am staying in the rest of the day as not feeling very good. My heart seems to be acting up a bit, something I haven't had for quite awhile. So will just take it easy today.
Happy Birthday Karma. Happy Thanksgiving (perhaps belated) to those of you from Canada.
Judy, I agree with you that the charge to stop a check seems excessive. If just called and put the stop payment on the check and it will cost $30. However, better to spend that than risk being out another $175, which is what the check was made out for. Jeanne, sure glad the fee isn't $50. It seems like the banks, as well as the airlines, are finding more and more ways of separating us from our money. This problem could have been avoided had I just filled in the man's name--live and learn.
Janet, it sounds like you are going to have a huge sale. Do they get big crowds at auctions in your area? I used to love to attend auctions and look over what was for sale. We don't have that opportunity here but not sure I would go anyway as we don't need anything else to clutter our house. I have decided to start getting rid of things that are in my shed. I don't even remember all that is out there.
Larry, the answer to that is simply not to "shed" too much.

I thought I would be quick online today but it has turned out to take a long time to get caught up. Computers are wonderful but sometimes takes up so much time!
Thanks to you all for commenting on the picture of Ivalou and her girls! She does have a beautiful family...inside and out! I need to get busy and get to the hospital! I didn't go yesterday and I miss seeing Ivalou's progress!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

My early morning dental appointment was cancelled because she had a high fever for the 2nd. day - I hope we can get together tomorrow as they booked me again.
Tea anyone? Today is: African Redbush Peach. It is caffeine free & so good.
Our Rockies baseball team lost to the Phillies last night - it was a mighty stretch. I am into sports a lot more and how do you escape when all the boys are interested in sports? Do love close & clean games.
JudyB: Walking is the easiest and best way to keep up exercise but I know it is tough to get in a habit because family duties intrude. You have to care for yourself too so I hope you will remember how good it is for your heart and cholesterol count to get that heartbeat up. I find that time just perfect for those long prayers (which are becoming longer and longer as I live). :)
Carol, I would love a cup of that tea! It's still chilly and very damp here in our corner of Kansas.
Larry, sorry you aren't feeling up to par, hope you feel lots better by tomorrow. Also hope Stacey is doing better.
I went to help with Ladies' Tea at the care home. Beth is being cranky and stubborn, which tells me she isn't feeling well. And she is down because John hasn't been calling as often.
Gloria had a whole group of ladies outside her door, showing off her initials I did for her. She told me they (the initials) might help her get over her problem. I asked what problem and she said she had been wanting to move to Garden City, because she is bored with this place. I asked her if she really wanted to leave family and friends and church and go live among strangers, and she said that's what Aunt Sharon told her.
I sure hope our Pat gets something figured out about internet access at the new house. Being without would be awful, once we are used to keeping in touch this way.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KARMA!!!
And, happy birthday from me, too, Karma. I'm so glad y'all can come here to post more often.
Last comment about restless legs. When my bloodwork came back with a pretty good case of anemia, first question from the doctor was "do you have a problem with restless legs at night?" I answered that I do, and he commented that the iron will help with the anemia, and that when I'm anemic, I'm more likely to experience restless leg syndrome.
Now, since a take a very small dose of gabapentin for neuropathy, I don't stay awake to check whether my legs are restless or not!!
;D
Well, Larry, you sent the rains our way. We have 100% rain for tonight, and thus far, the forecasters are absolutely correct. :)
Y'all have a great evening. I think I'm gonna have a cuppa tea.
The sky became very dark after lunch and then down came the rain and yes sleet/hail small stuff. That all cleared up and I went to the local Zellers and purchased a new blanket for our bed also some pretties for the shower curtain rod.
About the pumpkin pie it was good but we felt that it was too sweet so will not do that again, we enjoyed the plain pumpkin with whipped cream best.
We also had a lovely dinner at our daughters - turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, turnip, corn on the cob, cranberries, buns, pumpkin pie and if something was missed please forgive me.
I did not sleep very well last night it must have been a sign that things were not to happy - yes we did get a call this morning.
Time to go, Dancing with the Stars is coming on . Ruth
Ruth how is your brother.
This has been a cool day. Not really rainy but definitely damp and trying to rain. It has also been windy. All the beautiful trees of Saturday are now gone. Just some poplar left on the trees.
Rough night last night again, I lay down and start to think and there goes any idea of sleep. So I got up, and did some work that i had been putting off doing. The girls noticed right away.
I hope to sleep early tonight. Need to grab the book kass has read and let reading put me to sleep.
Night all
This is specially in answer to Gord and Carol. Thanks so much for your interest in my leg problems. I'm still mostly using the recliner, but I've set out on a program to get back to using the bed. I go (some nights) to bed early and stay as long as possible. In this way I'm getting used to using the bed again. It's getting gradually better and better, so I'm hoping that I'll soon be able to use the bed exclusively. Please pray.
Al I am praying. I have been praying.
:)Hi to all.
Al: Thanks for your reply I havebeen wondering how things were going with your health. I am glad to here that you are able to use your bed once in a while. I will remember you in prayer and do be encouraged that in the Lords time things will get better. <3
To all others on C.P. I have read all your posts and thank you for them.
Etta Sue: Thanks for the beautiful picture your sister looks like you.
Karma. HAPPY BITHDAY :hb3: :hb2:
Well I must get to sleep.
Larry: Please do look after yourself and hope that things go well for your daughter. <3
God Bless to all Gord. <3 :cp:
Good morning! I hear rain still dripping, dripping.. But I shouldn't complain; after all, Larry and Ruth Ann are getting drenched! Well, their areas are, anyway. God is in control!
I don't know what today has in store. But do we ever, really?
Right, Janet. We never know what the day will hold - but we do know Who holds the day! ;)
At 6:30 this morning my outdoor thermometer registered... are you ready for this? 20 degrees farenheit!
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FBellyDancer.gif&hash=9450ec53f8a2c3562565e967c5274d249d7a4f33)
I always smile when I am told that Ivalou and I look alike. Ivalou and Kaye Don took after Mom....I took after Dad. Ivalou, Kaye Don and Mom were 'no doubt about it' red heads. Dad and I were dark headed...almost black. But I do agree, the older I get the more I look like Mom so perhaps Ivalou and I do look alike.
This morning is family meeting at rehab. So I am off in a few minutes.
Kitty and I plan to go swimming this afternoon.(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

I don't see Larry this morning - hope he's ok. Lotsa rain here yesterday and probably today. Not cold, though.
Hi everyone and Al thanks for your concern. My computer needed to be rebooted this morning so didn't have time to post before leaving for coffee. I felt fine when I got up this morning but not so great now. I am concerned because we are planning on leaving next week for a couple of weeks and if I am not feeling better by then I guess we will have to postpone it as don't want to strike out feeling like this. However, we will cross that bridge when we get there.
I think we have escaped the bullet on the heavy rain that was predicted for last night and today. It has gone south of us and now they are saying only another quarter inch today and hopefully we will have a window with no rain early tomorrow morning. We have to get our daughter to Grady by 7 pm as she is scheduled to have the epidural at 7:30. We will have to use the transport chair for her and I am afraid that Pat is going to have to push it. However, I know that the Lord will provide for us as he always does so won't worry about that today and then deal with what tomorrow brings tomorrow.
Al, glad to read that you are being able to get some rest in bed. Hope the improvement continues.
I am making a Dominican dish for Kassie for a school project...It doesn't matter who makes it it is just an add on to her presentation.
We have cool weather, but no snow yet. That is still a 4 letter word here in this house.
Tonight is gound school, Kass is going and she has a test tonight.
Got to run
JudyB
A four letter word, Judy? Hmmm.....would that be COLD? ;) And what kind of dish would Dominican be?
Today was wear pink day at our senior center, in honor of breast cancer awareness month. When the nurse was talking about it, and introducing her program on food safety, she left out the word 'cancer.' That got a chuckle. :)
It does look as if it may clear off by tomorrow, and we are really hoping it does! We are down to the wire now!!
Larry, sorry you are feeling kind of bum, hope you are bright as a new penny tomorrow.
Nothing much of note happening here.
No Janet it is the white stuff! Also the dish was like a biscuit....made from cornmeal and egg and milk. It was rather bland, not something I would try again.
Elizabeth has to look up an Italian recipe tonight for school. As I remember I never had to do anything like this for english.
At Heather's tonight, their schedules conflict.
Bye for now
Al: Sounds like a good plan to me - easing into the bed slowly, I mean. You and Marbeth are in my prayers.
Are you still preaching? I have not seen anything from you about preaching in a while.
I did make it to women's bible study this morning. Did not feel well last night after a neighbor gave me ice cream and a sweet baked roll at 9 PM - my fragile stomach did not do well. I was just sitting up for hours before bedtime. Then, decided to take a shower this morning and that revived me enough to drive through a thick fog to hear the message. It was worth it, of course and part of the discussion was on predestination - I really am interested in it but no one else seemed to want to talk about it. Predestination, that is! From there, on to the dentist and she can only find things that need to be fixed. All much too pricey.
Back in time to go to the neighborhood stitching group & we spent an extra hour at friend's house because she is southern & so hospitable. :)
Janet: I am sorry that Beth is under stress and not feeling well.
Marilyn: Thanks for the email on that interesting woman.
Carol - will be preaching again on the 25th on Matt. 6:19-21, with heavy cross reference to Prov. 2:1-6. All about seeking the right treasure.
Re/predestination. If God didn't destine each of His people to the Kingdom, how would they get there? They are, after all "dead in trespasses and sin." So they're unable to desire the Kingdom on their own.
Judy: Italian---------pasta and a bottle of wine
It had been a lovely day all day and now the evening has set in and I expect that we are to have frost.
I went out this afternoon and took several pictures of an old bridge not to far away, I love bridges and the sound of running water - very peaceful.
I forget how to download pictures but will concentrate on that at a later date.
I understand that the sewer construction leading to the new subdivision is complete except for the road being paved that will be good because then I will be able to clean windows.
Have a great evening. Ruth
:) Good evening to all.
Larry: I am Glad to here that the rain has stopped it must be terrible to be where you can get Major flooding. I do hope that you and Pat will please take it easy as you do not sound very good. Do you have to go to your daughters to help her or is there someone else that could do that for you. Again listen to your body and we will be remembering you in prayer.
Al: Did what I talked to you about on the email work for you?
Tomorrow is food bank day at the mission and it so sad to see so many young couples coming in. Also the program that we have been praying about called Redeemed Lives which is to help men who have gone to the dryout clinics and also hopefully dedicated their lives to Christ we have one young man who has come in. We are into the second full week and this Friday afternoon I will be his afternoon supervisor so please pray that the Lord will give me the proper words to say and to also listen to what he wants to talk about. Praise God for this op pertunity <3
Paul and Pat: How are you both doing. Hope all is well are you still in the States? God bless sis.
To all others God richly bless you. :cp: <3
Ruth a recipe....and fake wine.
I have put a prayer request in the Prayer and Praise. There is a 9 year old who has had a stroke. Am I nutz ? Are strokes on the rise?
Kass has her headaches back. I am still waiting for a referral to a specialist.
Heading to bed soon. Night all
I love these some of these chuckles I get. Al will probably really appreciate this one. ;)
Parking Solution
A pastor of a two-church parish had to drive every Sunday morning about 4 miles from the 9:30 service at one church to the 11 o'clock at the other. He would often find the parking lot of the second church full, and be forced to park down the road and race to the church on foot.
The problem was finally solved when he selected a parking spot near the side door of the church and posted a sign that read, "You Park - You Preach."
*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*
cybersalt.org/cleanlaugh
Thanks for that one, Jeanne. I copied it out and will take it to the pastor of our church here, too.

Ivalou got straight A's again in the conference meeting. She has at least two more weeks in rehab. They are saying that she probably won't be walking without assistance when coming home so one of the therapists is to meet me Saturday to access Ivalou's home for a ramp and such. Ivalou's son, Jeff, is a carpenter so he wants to be here also.
Kitty and I went swimming after I went to the hospital. I swam 26 laps this time. It is getting much easier. We are trying to swim for an hour. I also walked 4 laps which is hard to do when I get in the deeper end...tippy toes! Just wish I could learn to put my head in the water...I used to use nose clips but can't find any anywhere!
Today is the hospital, WalMart and then Bible Study this evening. ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

I have been here reading several times per day I just haven't had anything to say. Today is exercise and walking the dogs like I do every day rain or shine. We walked in the rain on Tuesday and I dried them off when we got into the house. I have had to put Grubby in the garage and dry him off too. He just gets in his little bed and goes to sleep, As you know cats don't like to be wet. He is coming in the house now and then but always head straight for the slider to the deck so go back outside. We are trying to get him used to being in the house. He still need to be neutered and have some shots.
Al: Thank you - I will check out the passages you are using in the sermon. Also, I have believed in predestination to a large degree and then free will has something to do with how we live our lives too.
I finished making a 2nd prayer shawl and it washed so nice and soft. This has been so easy to keep around and somebody really can use this comfort.
Hi everyone. We arose around 4:30 this morning and were on the road to Atlanta at 5:30 and picked up our daughter and took her to Grady Hospital. I parked in the parking garage and stayed in the car. Pat had put the transport chair in the car and she got it out and then wheeled Stacey to her appointment. Unfortunately, my cell phone would not work in the garage so was left pretty much in the dark.
It began to get chillier and chillier as the morning progressed. Around eleven I decided to go to the main entrance of the hospital to see if my phone would work there and also take some jackets for them both, as neither had taken a jacket into the hospital. Just as I was getting ready to call here they came. Stacey got along fine with the epidural shot she had in her back and we took her back to her apartment and then came on home. We stopped at the new cafe for lunch so Pat won't have to worry about supper tonight. She has been sleeping all afternoon and I also had a long nap as we were both tired from the short night. Fortunately it wasn't raining this morning, just a fine mist in the air.
Nothing else planned for today other than to take it easy. I did call my doctor's office to see if he could perhaps increase or change some of my heart medicine. I didn't have a very good day yesterday but happy to say today has been better. We don't want to cancel our trip next week but if I am not feeling better probably will.
Larry I am praying that the doctor finds the right combination of drugs for you so that you start to feel better. I have been praying for your daughter as well. Good that you had a rest this afternoon.
Etta Sue would a walker be what Ivalou could use to help her walk? Mother has one and it has done wonders for her mobility.
Good Evening:
The errands for the day started by going south to a Zellers Store to return a blanket I had purchased, the fabric just did not fold around you while sleeping, on my way down I stopped at the Brick furniture store looked but did not purchase then on my way home from Zellers I stopped at a grocery store then continued on up the road and before going home I up the mail
then got Tim's coffee for the both of us.
Larry: I trust that you will be able to go on your vacation. We all need a rest from time to time.
Ruth
Hi everyone. The sun is out this morning, which is a welcome change from the last few rainy and cloudy days. I do seem to be feeling a lot better today so think maybe I had one of the events I have had before where I just do not feel good for several days and then it seems to pass.
We only had five men show up at coffee at the senior center this morning. I think this is the least I can remember that we have ever had. One of the men called the house and asked Pat why I wasn't at McDonald's this morning. He had forgotten it was Friday. He had e-mailed me last night saying he didn't think he would be at coffee today so wasn't expecting him.
I have a light schedule today and looking forward to it. I do need to get a new pair of shoes but just haven't been up to shopping the last few days. We might do that later today.
Hope everyone has a good day.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FPoweredbyGod.gif&hash=fa3b4a0365fbe0639b524524e9c3098cc5fe4eac)
Ivalou uses a walker...a hemi walker (http://www.allegromedical.com/browse/browseProducts.do?searchPhrase=hemi+walker).
She tried the regular walker but since she has no touch feeling in her right hand or right leg, she couldn't use it. She uses her right side but it isn't as controlled as the left. Therefore the regular walker didn't move they way she wanted it to move. With the hemi walker, she moves the walker with her left hand, then the right foot, then the left foot. She walked over 100 feet yesterday with a therapist on each side of her.
When I got to the hospital, Teresa and Lauren were there while Ivalou was having lunch. They didn't stay the night. Lauren had another doctor appointment this morning. She has had many this week and starts her aggressive chemo next Tuesday! (She asked the doctor to not use adjectives...just say 'chemo') She will go every two weeks for the chemo into her chemo port. I am not going to say for how long. I want to say either 6 months or 2 years! Big difference. But after that she will have to take a pill form chemo every day for 5 years!! She said she wishes she didn't have to do it but the alternative is a lot worse! She isn't done living!
So I took Ivalou's clean clothes to her room and put them away and I left to go to WalMart and home! Even then, I thought...what can I eat for supper? :-\
I will be headed to the hospital when I get caught up online. Not much else to do...cloudy, dreary, gloomy, and cold!!!

Hi, friends, BRRRRR! It's in the 40's this afternoon, and I'm not ready for cold weather yet. Gotta get out 'n see about the house once again, and a few other things. The gas tank is getting a bit "thirsty" so probably will gas up while out.
The trees here are beginning to turn lovely shades of red, yellow, orange, and brown. The care that our Lord took in fashioning this earth so that we can enjoy and praise Him through viewing the countryside around us amazes me.
A friends we were with a couple of weeks ago told this story:
"An atheist told God that, through all the research discoveries, that he could ALSO create man. So, the challenge was on. The atheist stooped to pick up a handful of dirt and God stopped him. 'Son, go make your OWN dirt!"
'Nuff said, IMHO.
:)
For several years now I've been paying the basic price for my cable TV and getting the channels of Standard, the next level up. Yesterday a knock on my door and two young men informed me I would need to either upgrade from Basic to Standard and pay the extra, or stay with the Basic payment and get only those channels. I dithered a few moments and decided to do the upgrade.
After they left I started thinking - no way could I afford the cost of the upgrade which would be double what I've been paying. So I called the office to cancel and found that I could upgrade even further (and get even more channels I don't really want) with the latest "promotion". This would make my payments only slightly higher than I've been paying but would include not only the digital channels but also a faster internet connection.
The digital lineup includes a couple of good gospel networks. It would, however, require a converter with a one-time installation charge of $30. I asked whether this was something that I could do myself, and was told yes and then there wouldn't be an installation charge.
So I'm off this afternoon to go over the mountain to Glens Falls to pick up a converter box and see if I can hook things up myself and thereby get more and pay less.
Well, I'm back home and well satisfied with the afternoon's accomplishments. I got the converter and even though the instructions were extremely minimal I got everything hooked up. I had been under the impression the account would have to be activated, but as soon as I turned everything on all the new channels worked just great. And now I can get Trinity Broadcast Network again! Hooray! :cheer: :cheer:
Good for you, Jeanne! :cheer:
I still have only the very basic "rabbit ears" indoor antennae here ... get NBC, ABC, FOX and 3ABN ... That's okay ... it's actually more than I got with the so-called mandatory converter box for DTV!
I had a big surprise yesterday evening ... I'm still shaking my head in amazement ... My daughter, Joy, called and asked if I had any plans for Thanksgiving and I told her I never have plans. She already knew that, but felt she needed to ask for her husband's sake.
She says John is "feeling love for all God's people" and wants to bring Thanksgiving to me. Instead of spending the holiday at the cabin with his Dad and all the uncles, aunts, cousins, and sisters and their families. "bumping around in the kitchen pretending" ... he wants to do something nice for me! How's that for a son-in-law?
They'll bring all the groceries and do the cooking ... even help me with some chores .... I'm (nearly) speechless. :-[

I quit one cable provider and went to another with a better offer. The old company called me and asked why I was leaving since I had been a customer for nearly 10 years. I told them that they were offering a special promotion but only to new customers. As an existing customer I was not eligible. Glad I left as my internet connection and channels are far better than the old company. I get about 8 christian channels.
Congrats Jeanne! It looks like you got the best deal. We have a t.v. in the basement with only 6 stations - three are in Spanish. One is the local news & another the travel channel - the other is a sales promotion all the time. Very boring on the treadmill or sewing downstairs. That is why I like a radio.
Jane: Thanksgiving will be super for you - it is so nice that they want to do some work for you - accept and rejoice!
The cost of the balloon fiasco that went off without a boy in it is over $2 million. It is really odd and I hope they find the truth as to whether this was a ploy for publicity or not. Otherwise, I would hope that they would send a bill to this very different family.
Don and I signed a bunch of bandannas with messages of thanks and love that the church will send to troops. A Psalm was printed on it and I apologize but I have already forgotten which one - we are sending about 1,400 packages to troops and will box things this Sunday afternoon. Probably many more than that this year.
Jane, what a wonderful surprise! That will certainly make Thanksgiving real for you.
Carol, that's a terrific project. Sounds as though your Sunday afternoon will be busy.
:) Good evening to all C.P. people and families. :) Last night my wife and I were able to go to a rally which was held in Buffalo New York. to here Dr. David Jeremiah. and it was a fantastic night and the praise time was unbelievable which was led by the praise team leader from Jerry Falwell's church.
There had to have been at least 9000 to 10,000 plus people and the singing was fantastic what a privilege to be there and to feel the power of the Holy Spirit. :)
The pastor gave an invitation at the end and we sang Amazing Grace and many people went forward so please pray that they will make a solid commitment to the Lord and find a good church so that they can be dispelled.
May the Lord give you all a wonderful weekend and I hope that you are all blessed like my wife and I last night. God bless. Gord and Noreen. <3
Gord, how wonderful you were able to go to Dr. Jeremiah's rally! I can get him on the radio every weekday from 12:00 to 12:30 and on TV Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. And I get a short devotional by him in my email every day. I think he's a wonderful preacher and would love to see him in person.
Good Morning, Yesterday I went to the local Beauty school and had my nails done in a very pretty blue color. I also got 2 inches trimmed off my hair, it is still looooong and straight. I can curl it with the curling iron and it doesn't last more than ½ an hour. Total cost $6.00. The nails are usually $10. and Hair cuts 4 but they are having a special if you get one other thing done the nails are free no matter what you have done to them.
Gord how wonderful that you could go the see David Jeremiah, I love to hear and see him preach, he is such a wonderful teacher.
I had my post almost done earlier and my computer decided to shut down! >:(
Anyway, today is SALE DAY, so prayers would really be appreciated. It started at 10, and I watched for a while, but was starting to get upset at things going so cheap....and I promised myself I wouldn't let it bother me. So now here I am, and am heating water for a cup of cappaccino. Maybe other items will sell well and make up the difference--I hope.
Anyway, see you later, tea kettle is talking to me, or screaming at me, anyway. :)
I love David Jeremiah, too, watch him every Sunday morning, and just got his new book Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World. Haven't had time to read it yet, though.
Hi everyone. It is a very chilly and light rain day here in Georgia. After coffee this morning Pat and I went to Kaiser so I could get my flu shot and she went on to the shoe store for a new pair of shoes. This was the first day that Kaiser has had flu shots for their members and there was a huge crowd. I have to give them credit for keeping things under control. The line started upstairs and you gradually moved forward and then down the stairs to another line on the bottom floor. It took me around an hour to actually get my shot and it really didn't hurt at all. I wouldn't have gone today but we plan to be on the road on Tuesday when they next have the shots available. I didn't want to wait for another two weeks to get the shot.
I am watching the Georgia/Vanderbilt football game as I am writing. Georgia is not having a great year so far.
Janet, I understand what you are saying about needing to get away from the auction as I felt the same way when my folks things sold. However, we had to get rid of the things. I had to chuckle at the title of the David Jeremiah book you have as it seems you have been experiencing a bit of a chaotic world over the last many months. Hope that after today you can pursue a quieter schedule for awhile.
Marilyn, it sounds like the beauty school is the place to go and the price is right. Hope you were happy with the results. I don't know about that blue polish. :)
Gord, that sounds like a wonderful event you attended.
Jeanne, glad you are happy with your new cable arrangements and that you were able to do the installation yourself and save the fee. Hope you enjoy the new channels.
Carol, that sounds like a tremendous project that your church has undertaken to send the packages to the soldiers. Our choir did a project like that about a year ago but think we only had 14 or 15 boxes.
Ed, it has never seemed fair when companies make better offers to non-customers than they do to their customers.
Jane, that was a wonderful surprise and it is nice they have given you several weeks of enjoyment to anticipate Thanksgiving.
Ruth Ann, we are seeing changes in our trees as well although the lawns are still very green.
Etta Sue, it is so nice to read each day of the continued improvement by Ivalou. Glad they had a walker that she can handle. I just did a Google search to see what they looked like.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Ivalou worked so hard yesterday. I think she is determined to be walking when she comes home. I just want her to come home and still improve. I don't think that is asking too much of God.
Today in Dayton, Ohio, is the 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' walk. Lauren mentioned on Facebook to not forget your Dayton Daily News Pink Edition paper since she is in it. I got the bright idea ::) to check it out online. Here is the link to the Dayton Daily News (http://www.daytondailynews.com/lifestyle/pink/readers-share-personal-breast-cancer-stories-and-advice-351640.html).
Lauren's photo is the first photo. She is a beautiful girl. When she was thinking out loud about how she was going to pay for all this medical care, she said, 'I know! I will write a book!' After reading what she wrote, I think she could make a great selling book!
I am staying home today. Michelle, Ivalou's Physical Therapist, is going to come to Ivalou's home and access it for a wheelchair ramp or not. I will call Ivalou's son, Jeff, so he can be here also. He builds homes and has his own contracting company so I am sure he can build a ramp! Or two if needed.
I made some Party Mix today. Ivalou said yesterday that that sounded so good. The house smells sooo good and I ate one Wheat Chex and my mouth is party mixey! I put twice the amount of goop over the cereal, nuts and pretzels. I like that goop! I will take Ivalou some Party Mix tomorrow...if any is left!>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Etta Sue, I agree that Lauren is beautiful, and she did a great job in writing her story. She certainly has a well-wisher here!
Larry, thanks for the kind words. I am trying not to even think about the sale; after all, it was about getting rid of stuff, and we accomplished that. So whatever money is left after expenses, I will consider a blessing. And yes, I, too, hope we can live a little 'slower' now for a while and get rested up again. Glad you got your shot, and hope you will have a wonderful trip.
Jane, what a wonderful Thanksgiving you are going to have this year! And as someone mentioned, you have the time from now until then to savor and anticipate it! What fun!
Time to make coffee!
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FCatEyesTurning.gif&hash=3de96464605c7665f06a8e968eb3d4796b03a211)
Everyone must have been out raking leaves yesterday. Not many posters!!
Too cold here to rake leaves. It is 32° right now!!! The grass has a white overcast that is probably crunchy! Not looking forward to winter at all!
Jeff and Michelle, the therapist, came last evening. Jeff has two ramps to build by Thursday or Friday. And also some doors to remove so it will be easier for Ivalou to get through with her wheelchair. I told Jeff that Ivalou is determined to work hard so she won't have to have the wheel chair so all of this building may be in vain.
I made some Party Mix and have some for Ivalou. She will like that.
So today it is church, out to eat and then the hospital. Lauren is here with Jo, her husband, and two of her kids. I am anxious to hear what Lauren has to say about her walk yesterday. I did hear that they had a large photo of her in the Pink Edition of the paper that was not online! Hi everyone. We finally have a pretty sunny but cool day. We have a frost advisory for Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Should be nice and crispy.
Janet, you ended with the same attitude that I did in that we had to get rid of the items in the sale and I was thankful that the people came and bought as they did. There was one lady who stayed until the end (and we had an evening sale inside a building) and she basically bought everything left over with the intent of sending it to needy people in Mexico, I believe, or where ever her church was helping people.
Etta Sue, it sounds like things are coming together so that Ivalou will be all set when she returns home. Glad to see your party mix survived the evening. :) I am sure that will taste mighty good to Ivalou.
I am ready for church and sure we will be going out to dinner as see no preparations in evidence in the kitchen. Hope this is a great day for everyone.
Jane, wonderful news about your Thanksgiving day.
God works in mysterious ways, just love it and enjoy it.
Your Christlike manner just shines through at times for most to see and you never know who you are touching.
They see it and want to be with a peaceful, loving, family member at this time
You are Special in HIS eyes and I just "know" your family knows as well as your friends know.
By the way, just was told that my son is doing all the cooking at his house for Thanksgiving , too.
Can't beat that!!!
I tried earlier and had to do a system restore on the laptop. There is something happening every time MicroSoft has an update and it isn't nice to this computer.
Gord: What a massive crowd - you must been in some stadium or civic center for that group. The whole city could probably hear your singing. Glad that you were able to enjoy it.
Joyce: Hi! It is so nice to not have to cook the T-day dinner and super that your son is doing this year's meal. We all bring something or I have it here at our house. It always works out well.
Well, I am going to check to see if they need our help in packing today at church - I forgot to take my mild sleeping pill last night and was so groggy from lack of sleep that there was no way we could get to early service. It is almost 80* here in the mile high city and there is a race going on that they expected it to be really cold like it has been for a couple of weeks - no, a surprise warm spell.
:) Good day to all. Wel I did not get to church today. When I got out of bed to get ready to go my nose started to bleed very bad and I did verything to stop it. We have a special phone number to call to get advice and they told me to go to the hospiyal right away because it would not stop. I am home now but have this special tube up my left nostril and it has to stay in till Tuesday. When I go back to get it out if it starts to bleed again I will have top see a surgeon right away .. Please pray that this will not happen.
God Bless to all. Gord. :) :cp:
Gord, that sounds like something to be concerned about, for sure. I will be praying.
I have been trying to post here all morning :-\ Each time I hit the "reply" button, I would get the "page not found" message! >:(
Finally, I checked my available memory and found it to be at only 70% .... Oops! I just rebooted and here I am at last! That's what happens when you're running a dinosaur of a pc like I have!
I want to thank Jeanne, Larry, Joyce and Janet for the comments about my "Thanksgiving surprise". Joy and John are at the family cabin this weekend (in Sonora Calif), and she wanted to get an answer from me before they met with the others so they could have a good reason for declining their (John's family) Thanksgiving plans.
She said she will be calling me this evening to talk further about it. You have to realize they are coming up here from the Sacramento area of California. That's quite a trip to bring me dinner! ;) I'll certainly enjoy it, though.
Another thing about it is that I won't need to be driving to California any time soon. I'll have to get them to bring me the stuff I left there after I wrecked the Toyota in May, though. I couldn't carry all that stuff (from the trunk and interior of the car) on the plane. :-\
Also, I now have plenty of time in which to clean my house and get ready for visitors. I move slowly these daze, y'know. :-[
Etta Sue, I am really impressed with Ivalou's improvement and her attitude ... speaking of attitude, Lauren's is wonderful as well! Y'all have a pretty remarkable family. You are blessed, indeed.
Gotta go ..... time for lunch at my house.
I have gone over and tidied up the kitchen, brewed fresh coffee and tea, made cinnamon rolls and crumpets, so come on over here to start a whole fresh, new week! (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=9067.0/url)
