TODAY'S INSIGHT
Have You Ever Seen An Angel?
The angel of the LORD guards all who fear him, and he rescues them (Psalm 34:7, NLT).
Dear friends:
Have you ever seen an angel? Dr. S.W. Mitchell thought he had. Dr. Mitchell was a well-known neurologist in Philadelphia.
After one very tiring day, he retired early. He was later suddenly awakened by a persistent knocking at the door. It was a little girl, poorly dressed and deeply upset. She told him that her mother was very sick and needed his help. Even though it was a bitterly cold, snowy night, and he was bone tired, Mitchell dressed and followed the girl. He found the mother desperately ill with pneumonia.
After treating her, Dr. Mitchell complimented the sick woman on her daughter's persistence and courage. The woman gave him a strange look and said, "My daughter died a month ago. Her shoes and coat are in the closet there." Dr. Mitchell went to the closet and opened the door. The coat was warm and dry and could not possibly have been out in the wintry night.
Have you ever seen an angel? John G. Paton also believes he has. While he was a missionary in the New Hebrides Islands, hostile natives surrounded his mission headquarters one night, intent on burning the Patons out and killing them. Paton and his wife prayed, terror-stricken, all that night. At dawn, they were amazed to see the attackers just turn and leave. A year later, the chief of that very tribe was converted to Christ. Paton then asked him what had kept him and his men from burning down the house and killing them that night.
The chief asked Paton a return question: "Who were all those men you had with you there?" Paton told him that just he and his wife were there, but the chief insisted they had seen hundreds of men standing guard -- big men in shining garments with drawn swords.
Have you ever seen an angel? We usually cannot see them, but God promises, "He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11, NIV).
God also promises: "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and He delivers them" (Psalm 34:7, NIV).
We must not worship angels, and we must keep our attention on the Lord Jesus Christ, but it is comforting to know that that they are there!
(Above incidents taken from The Pastor's Story File, March 1987.)
Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns,
Bill Bright

Interesting topic. Yes I believe I have seen angels, and remember the scripture in Hebrews which say to be careful to entertain strangers as some have entertained angels unawares.
The wax is working its way off the fur. I was talking to Pat last night and she suggested gently brushing. I will try the heat/ice too though, that was suggested by friends at church as well. Thankyou for the suggestions here as well. inquisitive .....YES. I may have sold a pup as well. YOu should hear them barking at each other and fighting.. Soooo noisy. I will be glad to see them go.
We didn''t have a sermon today. There were actors, and though they were good, it wasn't the same as having a sermon.... It was good for the children though even the most unruly were attentive. I guess I am old fashioned when I say I look forward to a sermon to dwell on and "chew on" for the following week.
Janet I hope you are not working with Beth alone. I hope you have some help lifting. Whatever you do make sure you don't wreck your arm again. I am prayinf sis.
Ruth Yes we will have the wood in soon. Also John is getting 2 - 3 loads of slab wood. Last year it was cherry and he managed to keep some it for future projects. I don't know what this yeears slab wood will be, we get it from a mill in Trout Creek.
It is after 11, and I am tired. Kassie has headed to the shower, late but her logic is sound. There will be 3 other showers in the morning, and her having one now will save the well.
Gord. Keep laughing. Enjoy your trip and take the time to memorize Phil. 4:8-9. I am praying for you both.
Night all

I'm sorry but the "Lock this Topic" button must have been clicked on and no one has been able to post except a moderator.
It's fixed now.
Thanks Keith for alerting us to this fact!
I've no 'experience' of angels, sadly they do not arrive when beckoned. If they did I'd be pressing the 'room service' button right now with all my might. I have a son who is hurting emotionally and is trying to make way for a relationship to heal but is being misunderstood by those outside the situation. My wife and I are devastated by the situation and the prospects of it which (outside intervention by Father God) seem hopeless. An angel guard for our grandson is our prayer. The knock-on effects of the situation include the agravation of my wife's chronic health problem by a combination of the stress and the lack of sleep.
Wish I had something more uplifting to post !
God Morning It has started to rain again Hallelujah. We sure need the rain.
Good prayer meeting last eveing at the Methodist church parking lot. Most all of the Pastors in McKinleyville and one each from Eureka and Arcata were in attendance. It was all about a racial issue that took place her just over a week ago. Bbout 100 people were there, and the press.
A grandmother (hispanic) and two grands (mixed race) were at the park and a white man holding his child in his arms, hurled racial epithets at the children. The grandmother gathered up the children and went home. Later when her son came home and saw how upset she was he asked what happened. She told him and rather than take action against the man he wrote about it in a blog then sent a letter to all the newspapers. That came to the attention of the local Catholic Preist who brought it to the rest of the Pastors.

Good afternoon. Yes, Janet, I believe I have encountered angels. Something prevented me from having a terrible accident a few years back when a speeding car went through a red light. I was so calm through it all, even turned into the opposing traffic's turn lane to avoid getting hit. I didn't do it. An angel did. Once I got to my destination and thought about what could have happened, that's when I started shaking and thanked God for sending His angel to help me.
My meds for my cold is helping some. Some....not all. I am hoping I feel much better by Friday when Ivalou and I are leaving for a mini-vacation. We plan to go north to Amish country in northern Indiana and then end up in northwest Indiana to a dairy farm where they have 3,000 Holstein cows that are milked on a carousel! We are both looking forward to 'getting away' before ol' man winter sets in.
Yesterday was cold. Today it is to get to 81°. The kind of weather that you don't know whether to have heat on, the a/c on or just open up the windows. Hmmm! ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Hi, friends,
I'm here tonight, too. It was a good weekend but a bit of a stressful work week. After church yesterday I felt like cooking, so made several dishes (each will serve several, and since there are only 2 of us, we'll have them to warm in the microwave for several days).
I'm so thankful I was able to stand and be creative with my little cooking session. Cooking used to be a hobby, but then things like feet and legs that wouldn't let me stand any more than 5 minutes at a time kept me from doing much for 2-3 years.
Y'all have a good evening.
Prayers for all those in need and/or hurting.
Ruth Ann, so good to see you again. How nice that you were able to do some cooking. And I'll bet you're a really good cook, too!
Pat and I took Beth to Dodge City for those Botox injections today. Her appointment was for 11:30, We got in about 12 or so. He gave her four shots in each calf, and said it might be as much as 2 or 3 weeks before we see much difference, or it could help right away. She tolerated it really well, then wanted to go shopping.....and we didn't get home until after 7 this evening. Mom (me) is exhausted.
See you nice people tomorrow!
Today was the usual day of work but in between I went to Bolton looking for a jacket to go with my black slacks & skirts, should be easy, I went to three stores and not a thing, although one did have a style but for the price I would have had to iron it when I got home and for the money it was a piece of junk. I think I just might put the sewing machine to work.
I then went to Shoppers Drug Mart and at the cash a lady was stressed because she realised that her keys were locked in her veh. no problem I will take you home to get a set, she lived in town and was thankful but I was glad that a few minutes solved her problem.
I then stopped at my Aunts place planned as well to pay a small bill and I also left a dish of Apple Crisp for her to have.
I got a call from Sue and she must of had a flu bug over the weekend athough a lot better she still feels that more rest is needed.
The day is coming to an end so will say nite nite. Ruth
Nice day here on the island. Was supposed to rain...didn't! I went to Victoria for a few hours to do some badly needed shopping. Ouch, my poor wallet :( Oh well, I always buy classic clothes that stay in style for ages, so that helps. Lead a quiet life but need a few special things to make me feel 'special'.
I loved your devotional, Janet. Don't know about having seen an angel, but have felt the presence and protection of something....Simply chug along, believing and trusting.
Amanda got her car back today. Her Dad paid the nearly $300.00 rather than go thro' ICBC and have her insurance go higher. With the new IPod, etc. and repairs, it was nearly $800.00 to cover the cost of that miserable thief.....Always believe that what goes around, comes around, so whoever is doing these terrible things, will one day have to pay a very stiff price. :ticked:
Gave Misty a worm medication tablet tonight. Wasn't that party! She spit it out about three times before I perfected the act. Treats help to take away the after effects and her feeling betrayed. ;)
That was an interesting article, Marilyn. Wish people could be kind to each other, like in that email you sent about the Polar Bear and the Husky. That was lovelyl Amanda saved it on her computer and will probably do a drawing. She does lovely Polar Bears and dogs.
Tired and time to go. Anyone watching Dancing With The Stars? It is hard to pick a winner....they are all getting so good!
Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.
Liz
LOST IN THE DARNDEST PLACES:
An elderly Floridian called 911 on her cell phone to report that her car has
been broken into. She is hysterical as she explains her situation to the
dispatcher: "They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal
and even the accelerator!" she cried.
The dispatcher said, "Stay calm. An officer is on the way."
A few minutes later, the officer radios in. "Disregard." He says. "She got
in the back-seat by mistake."
________________________________________________________________________ :) :) :)
Liz I needed that chuckle tonight.
It has been a stressful evening. My whole digestive system was upset, we had small group so before going I picked up Alka Seltzer and Imodium. With a hot tea chaser I was feeling better in about 1/2 hour.
I am tired tonight, it has been a long busy weekend. Our new pet seems to be working in to the family well. I am getting training help off the puter, and will start correcting some bad habits 2 of the others have.
Ruth I know time is an issue but what about sewing a jacket. Not that hard to do and you will get the quality you want. You are a skilled seamstress you know!
I had some clothing given to me last week. Boy what a blessing that has been. I don't have the time to sew the way I would like, nor the money to buy new. Also our pastor has 2 girls that are just enough older than our girls that they can hand down their clothes to us. Always decent and good quality clothing. Again a need has been met. So a great big thank you to God for the gift!
We finally have drier weather this week, but there is to be rain again by Friday.
Tomorrow Heather has a Doctors appointment and she doesn't have transportation. So I have to head out and take her and return her home when done. I really don't mind we have a lot of laughs when we are together. It is so nice to have a "friend" who I can talk to and laugh with who doesn't gossip. And we do laugh, a lot!
Well Iam off to bed, need some restand sleepiness is my companion right now.
God Bless
We have a cool but sunny day. Perfect for hanging laundry out to dry.
Judy: Sewing is perfect but the body shape is the problem, I need someone to take correct measurements.
Janet: I have enjoyed your devotional very much and although uncertain about an angel I have felt the presence many times.
I am reading a book on good and bad foods when it comes to sugar and carbs. It is explaining how the right foods change how you feel.
I have a load of laundry to do so while doing that I read some more.
Have a great day. Ruth
Ruth Perhaps Sue could help you.
I am up very sleepy. I was talking to someone online and we were comparing things on line. Boy how time flies when you are having fun.
We are studying Romans in small group. My what interesting discussions we are having. Important discussions as many are sorting out what the Bible really says. One point that was made was that there is no degree of sin. No one sin is worse than the other. We are all guilty in God's eyes. This was all in chapter one!!
Well I have to get up and go. Be back later, Love to all.
Liz - that lady in the back seat - sounds like something I might do! I'm a little surprised by your weather report - I didn't know you actually had days without rain there. We had some rain, supposed to continue to have it through next weekend. Not cold, though. Just wet. But thanks be to our Father Who waters and refreshes His earth, our home.
Marbeth goes to her quilting bunch today, and I go over to the local coffee house while she's doing that. I get to drink my jasmine green tea and study a bit.
Good Morning I believe in angels but I don't know for sure that I have ever met one. I do know that there have been times that I could only thank God for the avoidance of an accident. Especially one time when I accidentally ran a red light and the cross traffic didn't move.
It is dark and dreary here this morning an rain is expected. I am enjoying my second :coffee:.
QuoteWatch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the body is weak. Matt.26:41
Prayer: "Lord help me to be watchful and pray always, so that I might not be tempted by the things of the world. Strengthen me when my flesh is weak by your Holy Spirit, to recognize the temptations and to avoid them. In Jesus name Amen"
That is the scripture I chose to memorize this week and the prayer that I have prayed to go with that scripture. In Women's Bible study we are to memorize, analyze, and write a prayer for it. We are to do two per week along with reading 1 chapter of John per week, write down the characteristics of Jesus and how we can apply them to our lives the write a prayer using what we have learned in that chapter.

Good morning. This cold has about gotten me down. All I want to do is sleep....which is good, I guess.
But today is Euchre. I am so glad that after I am up for awhile, I feel fine with the meds in me. After Euchre is a music program that Ivalou's grandson is in at his school. He plays a saxophone in the band.
That's it for today. A rainy, dreary day in Indiana.a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Hi everyone. Have had a busy morning and just now finished my lunch and it will soon be 2 pm. If I am not careful I will miss my afternoon rest period.
We had a wonderful day yesterday as we met our son and daughter-in-law for a late lunch or early dinner. The first thing they said to us after greetings was that they were homeless. It turns out they had just come from the lawyer's office where they had completed the sale of their property here in Georgia. They have had it on the market for over a year and, of course, now live in South Carolina so aren't homeless at all. They were greatly relieved. They said they didn't get what they had hoped for it but considering the market were satisfied and very relieved to be out from under the monthly mortgage. We were also celebrating his birthday and their wedding anniversary, both of which occur towards the end of the month and we will be away at that time.
We then went down to our daughter's apartment and I put her computer back together and got it operating. We then took her to the grocery store and stocked her pantry. She has pretty well settled into her new place and said she loves it. It is small but very cozy and didn't seem crowded. It was late when we got home.
We are leaving early tomorrow for our trip to Missouri. I am taking my laptop so will be able to check in every day or so. The last time we were in MIssouri I set up a new computer for my sister-in-law and this year I get to figure out what she has done to it and get her back online.
We have quite a few things to get done this afternoon so will sign off for now. However, Janet, thanks for the devotional. I don't know that I have seen an angel but if I did I probably just didn't recognize it. The one thing I am certain of is that God has provided many miracles in my life this last year and I believe I am more in tune with the miracles and blessings he has provided. Glad to see everyone posting.
There is a game in the photos section to choose a photo from the link that the last person has posted from that person's album. Then post a link for someone elses album. You can get HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=6157.msg112344#new) and play the game.
Marilyn, I, too, want to memorize both the verse and the prayer that you gave us earlier. Thanks. I really need that right about now.
I was under the weather this morning, but finally took some medication for headache. Didn't have a headache, but most everything else hurt! :) It wasn't long until I felt much better.
About sewing, my sewing machine and I can't seem to understand each other - of COURSE it's the sewing machine's fault.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Good evening. We are finally back home. I had my appointment with Dr. Rane about my hand, she says it's doing fine, but not to abuse it. So I did. :-\ :-[ :( We stopped in their town and had lunch with Diane, Toni and our new great granddaughter Alexis. After lots of discussion I offered to help give a baby shower for them----which led to buying invitations and then filling out and addressing 75 of them by hand. By then my hand was complaining quite loudly. I know, I know........shouldn't have done that; not too smart. But I guess I just don't have any "quitting sense." :clobber:
Abby sure is enjoying being an auntie! She is good with the baby, and holds her a lot. Alexis is still so tiny! She is only three weeks old today, so I guess she should still be tiny.
Tomorrow is another trip---to Amarillo, Texas, this time, for Darrel to see his heart doctor, and I will also be doing a treadmill test. I am not looking forward to riding another 800 miles in the car.
I need to take a pain pill and get ready for bed. Bye!
Wow Janet 800 miles. How long does it take for you to drive that far? Moving here 817 miles from southern California took us 18 hours that was with rest stops ever two hours to get out walk around and walkthe dogs a bit.
Isn't there any doctors closer than that to treat y-all? That would be like me going to the Doctor in Los Angeles.
Looks like everyone has had one of those days. I took Heather to the Doctor and she is willing to look at taking us on as patients. That is one good thing done. Took Heather home and then took Kass to the walk in clinic. Told the doctor what was going on and he ordered me and her to the hospital to be checked out. We went there and the results are conflicting. So more tests have been ordered. we have to go in to N.Bay on Thursday and will finish the tests then. My trip ended with me home at 8:45 P.M. Then I had phone calls to return. What a day.
the weather is lovely. Sunny and bright. we were walking around with short sleeved shirts and no coats till this evening. I know winter is coming, but this is really nice, not needing coats.
I am really tired tonight so Night all and have a good night everyone.
Hello - Just checking in from Prague, Czech Republic. Beautiful buildings, tough to communicate and get around so we have walked and walked. We just loved Scotland and now wish that we had put in more time there. Today, catching a taxi to the rail station and going into Berlin.
Someone was mentioning seeing angels, we know something has been around and saved our selves so many times but have not seen angels.
We will return in two weeks and get caught up with all your news. I hope everyone is doing well.
The Denver Rockies are going to play in baseball World Series for the very first time. They won historic 21 out of 22 games so the fans are exploding with joy. We will catch the last games when we get back - really feeling out of touch here.
Carol
Good Morning I woke up at 4:20 to the sound of sleet hitting the window and what sounded like a great downpour that lasted for about 10 minutes. It has stopped raining at the moment. I went to bed at 8PM the phone rang 3 times before I could get it and no one was there. I sure dislike those kind of calls.
Thank you Liz for verifying that the email I sent you was true. No we do not want that in this country. I know I have heard for years about the Canadian/ English health system being so good, and I have also heard horror stories about the system. A friend sometimes sends me links to BBC news articles that many American should read before they vote in someone who wants that kind of system. OK I am off my soap box now.
Our flu shots will be available here in McK soon. The Senior Center will be doing them on two occasions. Medicare pays for them there. We can also get them from our doctors and at some pharmacies for a cost.
Well I am rambling on this morning I guess I really didn't have much to say.
Good to hear from you Carol I read your post on SN last night.
Good morning all. I'm just checking in.
Etta Sue, I have been either sharing your cold, or have my own. I know what you're saying about it getting you down. It just makes me tired all the time. I've gotten over it twice, and felt great, and by night, it was back. I'm taking extra C, drinking Cold Care herbal tea, and aspirin. I think I sound worse than I feel. I forget how bad I sound until someone on the phone will tell me "You sound awful". :) My sis had it bad when she moved, and I think she left it behind for me.
Rain, rain, rain. I love it.
Tyson(the dog)woke me up just before 5 this morning. Once he'd gotten me up and seeing what was going on, he went back to bed. Maybe I was snoring. lol I know it's hard to breathe with this cold.
I'm heading for another cup of tea and my recliner. blessings, Nita
I didn't hear the sleet Marilyn was talking about, though Marbeth did. But maybe I heard it without realizing it, because I got up (for the day) about a half hour after that. We're about 2 inches ahead of "normal" for this time of year. Thank You, Father.
Etta Sue and Nita - don't send your colds over this way - ok? We have no need of them here. Gotta go do our weekly shopping gig at Winco Foods today, then stop by the Co-Op, then we're done. We save 20 percent and up at Winco, so it's worth the extra miles to do it.
I agree with Marilyn - and Liz - on the Canadian health care situation - we don't want that here. Socialized medicine should be repudiated by all Americans. It sounds good at first, but everywhere it's been tried it's failed miserably. And this isn't a soapbox - it's just the truth.
New recipe HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=6373.new#new)
I have had the misfortune of being in need of hospilation in both the USA and of course in Canada. In the USA we received immediate service, there were no 5 - 9 hour waits and the hospital staff was pleasant to deal with. The first time was a teaching hospital in Rochester, there were people waiting but all were dealt with quickly. In Sault Lake City the hospital was immaculate, far superior to any I have seen here in Canada and the treatment was fast.
In Canada we as a family, avoid the hospitals at all cost. We have gone in for true emergencies and been told we have a minimum 5 hour wait. It doesn't seem to matter what the ailment. If you are taken in by ambulance, you get into the area where the staff is, but often the treatment isn't any quicker.
We have no doctor and no one is taking patients. There are thousands of families who have no doctor and no prospects of getting one. Walk in clinics have waiting lines hours long. Our cousin in CA was not pleased with his doctor, so he changed doctors. We cannot do that here in Ontario.
NO the USA does not want our system ! Many just think they do.
OK Al I will get off my soapbox.
We have a damp overcast day. Such a change from yesterday. The furnace is running and the house is warm.
I must go, the girls need to get the rest of their school work done.
Have a good day everyone

I had a rough night trying to sleep. About the time it was time for my meds, I would get a coughing jag! My stomach hurts from coughing. And wonder why I get fall colds? Could it be the change in temps? On day the high of 60 something, the next it is 89°. One day the a/c is on, the next the heat is on, the next you have windows open. Some days all three the SAME day! But a cold lasts for me around 10 days. I am on the down side now.
I did get an email today about stopping babie's/children's coughs. Put Vicks salve on the bottoms of their feet and put socks on them. The cough stops in 5 minutes. The person who sent this out, said she tried it on herself and slept all night long without coughing. Guess what I am going to do tonight? Can't hurt if it doesn't work and if it does!!!
Euchre was fun yesterday. A great bunch of ladies. We are finally learning each other after almost two years!
After Euchre we went to the Junior High School for their Fall Band Concert. Ivalou's Parker, 13 years old, playes saxophone. And we were surprised when the High School Band came in and gave a performance! Great program.
Then we were hungry and went to Steak and Shake...open 24 hours. >^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

ES and Nita there is an over the counter medication you can get called ColdFX, we have used it here and have found it is one of the few that actually work. Give it a try. I am sorry you both are having a rough time of it.
We have had a choppy week of it this week with school. They are ahead in history and behind in Math
So we will skip history for a bit and play catch up with math. Everything else seems to be on track. I do so enjoy teaching them.
I must go yet again. they are busy at work so I had a bit of time for the internet.
Has anyone chercked out "Pick of The Clicks" in the photography challenge lately.
It would be great if you did and if you haven't why don't you?
Please pray for the Lund family my patient passed away last night.
Speaking of Dr's we have had the same one kinda sorta for many years - the first one retired the business was sold to another and we stayed then he transfered his practice to the present Dr. and here we stay but I must say when Mel & I retire we are giving serious thought to looking for a new Dr. why do we stay it is because of our required medicals for the job. The present does have good referalls for spec. but I think that is all he does right. I was going to say more but sometimes it is best to stop.
Al: I am reading your studies in Mark and so enjoy them I hope that you do not mind as I am also printing them for reading when I have waiting time between school runs. I have about 1/2 hr. so it is a good time for quiet reading.
The middle of October and I watered flowers instead of pulling them for the gargage the snapdragons are looking so healthy and beautiful.
I hope ya-all have a good evening. Ruth
Hello everyone...
I've been scarce again... Life is just so busy sometimes.
Doctors? Hospitals? I've had nothing but good times with them. I have no complaints. And over the years with Jack's illnesses and his frequent need of hospitals all over the place, he was always treated quickly and with just so much love and concern and care from the many doctors he had to see and the hospitals he was admitted to so I'm happy to say I've never had a bad experience.
Both Mum and Dad also had wonderful care in Richmond Hill hospital over the years and we wouldn't have wanted or wished for it any differently.
I'm off to Virginia on Monday morning so I won't be around for a week. I'm planning on leaving about 5 am Monday morning.
I went up to see Judy last week for a day with a friend of mine and just south of where she lives in a village called Burks Falls, my friend who was travelling with me said, (as we went under an overpass on the highway,) "I wonder when these folks get snow!" And just as I finished going under the overpass, we were greeted with the biggest snow squalls.
I couldn't see anything and had to put my defroster on and the wipers to keep the window clear and this was for several miles to the town of Sundridge. Then lovely blue skies and Judy!
Oops! Marilyn, I meant to type 400, not 800 miles. Still a long trip and back in one day. Darrel's heart doctor is there, that's why we go. You know how it is when you get a good doctor that you trust.
Darrel had another nuclear stress test with treadmill today. Lying with his arm up over his head for 18 minutes while the "pictures" were taken has aggravated the surgery site in his shoulder. He is very glad to be back home, and so am I!
The doctor said I didn't need the test since I had one about 6 months ago here in town, and they found nothing wrong.
I also do NOT want socialized medicine. We have wonderful health care, and it would only jeopardize that. No "Hillary care" for us!!
Etta Sue and Nita, Zicam worked for us the last time colds tried to grab us! Hope both of you are feeling much better now, and that you get rid of those for good.
Yes, Pat, life is busy, but we miss you around here. Tell Paul hello for me.
I'm tired, had a short night and a long day, so I'm headed to bed. I wish you all pleasant dreams.
Ruth - I am so very glad that you're able to get something from my Mark studies. Please, by all means, use 'em any way you wish. May our Father bless them to you!
Good Morning. As you all noticed yesterday I posted that my patient Cliff had passed away. So that put me out of a job other than the two little two hour jobs on Monday and Tuesday.
Well I called the Caregiver Registry to put me back on the list and a couple of hours later a lady called who needs someone to take her to Winco , Staples and Michael's (all in the same little mall in Eureka) and to do a little vacuuming for her. She will only need someone 1-2 times per month but all those little jobs mean a lot to me. God closes one door and opens another. Praise the Lord.
Also I got a call yesterday from Food for People and the Brown Bag program hat I signed up for last year when I had no job has finally had an opening. Hallelujah God is so good. I will pick the Brown bag up today along with my Senior Food Box. I donate what I am not going to use to the Food closet at church, so some one else will also benefit.
We have an Evangelist tonight and tomorrow night who has a healing ministry. I sure wish I could get Gilbert and Sarah to go. They both really need a healling.
Marilyn, good you have a bit more work.
I have to take Beth to the hospital today for an ultrasound of her bowels and bladder. Something every day this week with doctors! But I am thankful we don't have those long waits for service that you in Canada experience. So God is good, even when we have to do things we would rather not have to do.
I just dropped by to see if there was anything new and exciting happening in here. ;)

Cough! Cough! Sniff! Sniff! :idiot: My cold is still here but better. And I got a good night's sleep. The Vicks on the bottom of my feet with socks on helped me to not cough! Who'd a thunk it??
Well, Ivalou and I are off to northern Indiana tomorrow so I won't be posting until maybe Sunday evening or Monday morning. We are both looking forward to getting away. Getting away from what, we don't know but the scenery will be different!
We had a storm this morning around 7am. The wind was blowing the rain and it was really pelting my south windows. When I got up at 8am it was a bright, sunny day. Lots of limbs and twigs in the grass and lots of leaves everywhere. Now it is cloudy and gloomy. I turned on the a/c again because it was hot in the house and I didn't want to open windows. But now it is getting cool again. No wonder I have a cold! Oh, what a wind and rain day here on the island. All sorts of weather warnings and it's is not a nice day :(
Know that you are prayed for, Marilyn. It must be hard meeting your budget with work always changing. Good thing that God doesn't and he is watching over you. I admire your concern for others and how hard you work. Continuing to pray for Gilbert and his family....
Guess Pat has had a better experience with the health care in Ont. It has hit an all time low here in BC. My doctor is a good and caring one, but hands are tied by the lack of specialists and long waiting lists. The reg. spec. that my daughter sees twice a year for special shots to help the neck, has a waiting list of over two years. The only reason she was able to see him was thro' her lawyer when they were disp. all the ICBC dr.'s. This specialist is the only one on the island who is qualified to give the shots.....amoung other things. We have MRI machines not being used because of gov. not paying for the dr.'s to operate them or do other operations, beds closed creating a shortage, dr.'s leaving the province, etc. Not a pretty picture. The last time I was in a hospital, got out without the infections that have taken over most of them. Get the picture. The BC gov. has sold out to outside contractors and cleaning in hospitals, food, etc. is now being done by for profit co.'s from all over the world. If you folks have something that is working, hang in there. We do have better care than some countries, but it is fast fading....Sr. abuse and neglect in care homes has hit the papers on a regular basis now and is a political hot issue!!
So that is my story and I am sticking to it. Could write a novel of true stories, but what would that prove. No system is perfect and the wealthy are usually the folks who get the most care, etc. Happens in all places. I do believe that my province is the worst of the lot at the moment....
Happy Birthday to O.B.J......did you ever get the plumbing problem resolved? I must go and check on some of the other places in CP. Always seem to be busy and time flies by. :)
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz

I've got that delight to look forward to next Tuesday ! Today's 'adventure' was an intravenous dye followed by an hours worth of X-rays. I did get a giggle from the nurse when she asked if I was allergic to anything and I replied with "Yes, NEEDLES !". The 'biggy' is early next month when I have to have a cystoscopy ! You know you're getting older when the high points of life involve hospitals ! My, isn't life fun when the bits start fouling up !
No, honest, I'm not pulling anyones leg, it's all happenin'.
Not really to much to report, the day started out foggy then finished up being really nice and warm.
I did go to the hairdressor for my 6 wk pampering I feel beautiful again.
I came across a recipe for bread pudding it makes enough for 6 baked in muffin cups. It is heart healthy and I will make it again.
Will check in again soon. Ruth
I'm glad you're not pulling anyone's leg, W.S., because if you were I'd probably have to go to the doctor.
Al you are too funny.
You know it is amazing how God works. I was talking to our small group about a serious concern that I have. They prayed and have continued to pray. I was talking to Heather on MSN tonight and it seems there is an answer to prayer that has happened, (with no help from me!) and yet again I see God working. This is a really big PRAISE THE LORD.
Each of us here has needs and concerns/worries. We do not/can not talk about them yet they are as real as those which are mentioned. So many times we get our hands dirty so to speak, and take the control away from God because we don't see anything happening. I am a "I gotta do something!" kind of person and it has been a difficult lesson for me to learn. In keeping my hands out of the pot prayers on a situation that is nearly 4 years old are finally being answered. You see I have learned that with God there are not time restraints, with us the days drag on, and on, yet with Him, He is working in the hearts and minds of all those around us. Ultimately that is all that counts...that and waiting for His timing!
There are times I cannot get over the goodness of God.
I am very tired, going to bed and will be back tomorrow.
God Bless

I'll gladly give up my place in the queue Al.
Me too, Al, me too!
I am finished taking people to doctors........for this week, that is. Darrel is to have a colonoscopy on Monday, so will be starting another round. But for this week, it's done!! :)
Judy, I can really understand where you're coming from on the issue of "I've gotta do something!" because I am the same way. I need to practice letting go and letting God, also being still and knowing He is God. Don't you think a lot of our feeling we need to do something comes from being mothers? We are the nurturers and caregivers, and at times it's hard to know when to just let go; especially when there are still those things we have to do. I'm glad you got an answer to a long-standing prayer. God is truly good.
I have a whole afternoon to do what I want! One thing I will do is sort out what I want to work on tomorrow in our scrap booking get-together. Hmmm.......should I start on the new baby album, continue working on Abby's, or work on the family one? So many pictures, so little time. ???
I have had much better sleep the past few nights, and I'm so thankful, and feel like a new me! :) Praise to God.
Etta Sue and Nita, how are those ol' colds? All gone, I hope!
Talk to you later!
Busy, busy!
It's very windy here today. And twisters in Michigan.
Very sad news here today. A man phoned the police to say he had just killed someone and when they got to the home, they found that he had killed his 8 year old daughter. The family went to a Bible Chapel in the area that I've been to many times and the man and his wife were involved in missionary work. How tragic!
Liz, I've heard of folks here in Ontario having similar problems to you with your health system in BC but it's just so good that we've never experienced it. I thank the Lord for that since Jack was so ill for so long.
Janet & WordSculptor - no, no, you keep the queue. I want none of it. I'm right on the edge of quite a bunch of medical problems, so I don't need anything added.
Pat - I hope the man didn't kill his daughter deliberately? Oh the guilt and pain from such a thing - it's more than most of us could bear.
Well I finally made it here. Pat how terrible for that man. Like Al said I hope it wasn't deliberate.
I am going next week something for an interview with a patients case Manager and husband. The patient is a 52 yr old woman with ALS (Lou Gehrig's). She has 3 children the youngest is 10. The Case Mgr. tells me that she can do nothing from the neck down, can't speak and has a feeding tube. Seh said they are moving toward hospice care. I would only be working maybe 15 hrs per week possibly an over night now and then. It all remains to be seen, they want me to check it out and see if I can handle it.
We'll see.
I bought ribbons, embroidery hoops and bells at Michaels to make some more Glory Rings.
TTYL
It sounds as if it was deliberate. Apparently, some of the news stations are saying that he suffers from Bi-Polar disorder.
He's been charged with First Degree Murder.
Pat: The death of that fellows child is so sad, but bi -polar is also a terrible illness, many folk seem to be troubled with that probllem. It can be mild or dreadful an ex school bus drivers sister and brother have the problem. (Pat I think you might know them but names I will not say here.)
I have had heart breaking issues that only I can pray about as I am so alone, in past when I have shared it went to deaf ears or I regretted sharing. It is wonderful that God is there to listen and at times carry me along the long slow road of waiting.
It was a warm and windy day, hubby and I did get leaves raked and bagged for Mondays pickup.
Al: Do not let the medical problems catch you.
Time to go get some dessert Bread Pudding with ice cream.
Ruth
I have two nephews (they are brothers) who have been diagnosed as being bi-polar, but one takes his meds, the other one doesn't. The one who doesn't is like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. I do NOT like to be around him at all. He has done things in the past that I have trouble with, and never has accepted blame for anything, always blaming someone or something else for his actions. It's sad, because when he is good, he is sooo good, but when he is bad, it is so awful. Will be praying for that man and his family.
Not a lot has changed around my house. Terry is still not well. Last night his heart was beating so hard in his chest he was sick to his stomach. He woke me up around 3 am, still won't go the the Dr. but complains about how bad he feels. Please remember to pray for him. Thanks :)
Have been reading all the posts and praying for the needs.
Later,
Samantha :)
Samantha, I'm so sorry about Terry and not going to the doctor. I'm reminded of how ill Jack was during his last few years before being promoted to glory and I remember many times his heart beating like that but I just whisked him off to the emergency.
So glad I did.
I'll be praying for him and for you too, Samantha!
I've been humming this and singing this today so thought we could all share!

There's Just Something About That Name (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/somethingname.mid)
(Click to here music)
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
There's just something about that name
Master, Saviour, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all Heaven and Earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms
Will all pass away
But there's something about that Name.

Thanks Pat!
Pat that is so sad. I am praying. Manytimes I have had friends share troubles and have not told anyone, except the Lord. It is so good to know that He really does know and care.
Just listening to the radio as I write this. The words go something like this.
"Don't give up
Someone really cares.
Don't give up
someone really loves you
Don't give up
Someone really loves you
And that someone is the Lord."
What comforting words.
I had an experience tonight. I took Kass out to stay in North Bay as she has Gliding with Air Cadets tomorrow morning at 7:45 in the morning. I am not a morning person, so tonight was the best for me. When I got home I realized I had not given her the permission slip or her Health Card. So Elizabeth and I left and arrived about 1:30 and detoured around construction and headed down the street Heather lives on. I was annoyed as a taxi was tailgaiting. I couldn't see his headlights he was soo close. I was thinking about calling the police, but decided it really wasn't worth it. When I left Heather's there were two police cars waiting for me. They stopped me because he said I was driving drunk! He reported me because I wasn't travelling as fast as he wanted to! What frustration.
We got home at about 2:45 and Elizabeth has gone to bed, she enjoyed her time alone with Mom. so did I. She is such a joy.
I am off to bed Have a good night everyone.

I am going to scrapbooking today until about 2, then home, change, go to Garden to help with the Walk to Emmaus. Our pilgrims backed out and we are so disappointed about that, but maybe it wasn't God's timing for them.
Ruth, I am still praying for the concerns you have. <3 I'm sorry yuou feel so alone, and I understand. (((hugs)))
Almost time to go to the library to work on those scrapbooks. I decided to start two for Alexis, one for Diane and one for me. I will give Toni the stuff and she can do her own, she is very creative.
I know several people here who got on SS Disability because of Bi-Polar disorder. It makes me furious because if they would take their meds they could function and work, instead of the rest of us having to take care of them. :ticked:
Samantha, I do hope you can get Terry to a doctor. What is he afraid of? Doesn't he realize that you love and need him? What a difficult situation for you.
I'm going now!~ :)
Good Morning. I have been so overwhelmed regarding last night's service. The Lord spoke to me so specifically through the Evangelist as I was prayed for, letting me know that my prayers were heard and the miracle I have asked for has been done.
At almost 4AM the I could hear the sleet (small hail) hitting the window, it woke me up. Then I could hear distant thunder beginning to roll, and I immediately called out for Happy (he is afraid of thunder). There was a huge boomer and I leapt from my bed, Happy was right there ready to scoot under. I wrapped my arms around him and spoke to him soothingly then let him go under the bed. The thunder went on for a short while then the sky opened up and it poured. he rain has stopped now some 4 hours later but he still has not wanted to go outside, he is sleeping on the sofa.
I am going to Blue Lake today for a little Birthday get together for the Sister who talked tome about the Glory Rings and loaned me her book so I could make my own.
Please pray for my Grand daughter Savannah she has the flu.
Satan has convinced one of the Sisters at my church that she is bi-polar.
Bi-polar disorder often does need medication, but it needs something else that it doesn't usually get - couselling. Back in the old days it used to be called manic-depressive schizophrenia, and it was just one more of the schizo.-class disorders. However, though many disagree, it is not purely an organic disorder. It is greatly agravated by feelings of guilt, and those feelings are often present because there IS guilt. It needs to be confessed and repented of, and new behavior begun and continued. Thus the need for good, solid Christian counselling. Meds can help, certainly, as they at least get the person to the point of receptivity to the counselling, but leaving off the counselling is a terrible mistake. I've seen the results of the good, solid Christian counselling, and it is beautiful to behold.
Amen Al!
Thanks for that.
Due to my trip to Virgiinia, I am opening the new Thoughts for the Week today. I may not be on the computer much before I leave.
Hopefully, you will all understand.
Have a wonderful week.
