Morning Devotional...

WALKING IN THE OLD PATHS
Jeremiah 6:16
By the late Jack Scott

The Old Guide Book

In the years of long ago when I was a child, I often heard my mother sing a hymn that somehow I understood was very dear to her. Sometimes I would find her sitting alone singing it with tears on her cheeks. As the years rolled by its importance to her seemed to increase.

Some would have thought it a very strange choice had they heard her quietly sing it. Most people who knew her would have been surprised to hear her sing at all, for she never sang in public. Not even with the congregation. While others sang, she would follow in her hymn book intently with her eyes and I suspect with her heart. Her lips would not move, nor her tongue utter a single syllable. Those who knew our circumstances (although they were probably few in number) would have been astonished at the words:

When upon life's billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings-- Name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Over the years we had accumulated few of this world's goods and it was a constant struggle for her to feed and clothe the family.

What then were the blessings that a very poor Irish woman could sing about? They certainly had no value on the stock market and could not be accumulated in the local branch of the Belfast Savings Bank. The "passbook" in which the blessings she sang about were listed was an old black leather covered Guide Book. On the spine in faded gold letters were two words which made up the title, "Holy Bible". The pages were more worn than the cover. Once white, they had long since yellowed with wear and age and tear drops.

My mother probably never heard of John Locke, philosopher and writer, but she would have agreed with the truth of his statement when he said, "It has God for its Author, salvation for its end, without any mixture of error, for its matter: it is all pure, sincere, nothing too much and nothing wanting."

Theologians refer to the Bible as God's Special Revelation to Man. The wonders of creation testify to us of God's unsurpassed wisdom and power, but the Holy Scriptures tell us so much more about God, and it helps us to understand ourselves if only we are willing to accept its teachings. In it we see that God is holy, just and righteous and at the same time, gracious, loving and merciful.

Woodrow Wilson, twenty-eighth president of the United States, spoke truly when he said, "The Bible is the one supreme source of revelation of the meaning of life."

Paul, the apostle, reminds us in 2 Timothy 3:16 and 17 that: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

It is true that ungodly men have attacked the word of God and tried to destroy it down through the ages.  Many have used or attempted to use "facts" of science to disprove its truth. In 1861 the French Academy of Science published a booklet listing over fifty supposed "facts" to contradict the Bible. Atheists of the day rubbed their hands in glee as they ridiculed the Christian faith. Today all of the claimed "facts" are rejected by men of science.

In the early and mid-nineteenth century, archeologists said that they were confident that their findings would discredit the accuracy of the Bible. A few years ago, I heard a lecture by a professor of the Department of Archeology at the University of Toronto in which he said that the Bible is now considered by many archeologists to be the most reliable guidebook to finding remains of old cities etc. in the middle-east.

Yes, the Bible is an old guide book. In fact it is the only truly reliable guide book on the path of life.

An ancient writer said: "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105 NKJV)

Despite the attacks of Satan and puny men, "We rest upon the impregnable rock of Scripture". (Winston Churchill)

THE BIBLE STANDS
(Click title for music)

The Bible stands like a rock undaunted
'Mid the raging storms of time;
Its pages burn with the truth eternal,
And they glow with a light sublime.

Chorus:
The Bible stands tho the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble,
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation,
For the bible stands.

The Bible stands like a mountain tow'ring
Far above the works of men;
Its truth by none ever was refuted,
And destroy it they never can.

The Bible stands, and it will forever
When the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given;
All its precepts I will obey.

The Bible stands ev'ry test we give it
For its Author is divine;
By grace alone I expect to live it
And to prove it and make it mine.

There are many "great and exceeding precious promises" (2 Peter 1:4) found in the Old Guide Book we call the Bible. There are countless multitudes of blessings in this grand old book. One outshines all the others and accepting it is the condition for receiving and enjoying all the other blessings. It is described many times over. We shall look at only a few instances where it is mentioned.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:16, 37)

What love God expressed to us in the coming of His Eternal Son in the body of human flesh! True God and true Man to suffer the penalty of sin upon the cross. What a blessing to know that those who repent of their rebellion and sin and trust Him as Lord and Saviour possess eternal life.

Paul in his Epistle to the Ephesians 2:4-10 gives us a great summary of this wonderful blessing. "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

You can enter into this the greatest blessing that can ever be known to mankind. Why not do so now by faith in Jesus Christ?

"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of Salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2b).

Jack Scott loved his Lord! He passed away on January 10, 2001 after a lengthy illness.
He is missed greatly by his family.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast but warm Monday morning here in South Carolina. I have fixed Pat's scrambled eggs with bacon crumbles, green onion, yellow peppers and two types of cheese to go along with the strawberries for her breakfast.

I am looking forward to a fairly quiet day.  I do plan on attending my Monday noon meeting and then Pat will see the Chiropractor at 3:45 this afternoon.  While she is there I will make quick trip on down the street to Aldi's for just a few items.  I plan on making her sausage muffins after we get home but can have most of the ingredients about ready.  I will need to fry up a pound of sausage that is used in the recipe.  We are out of cream or could go ahead and get them baked this morning. We haven't discussed it yet but am planning on a nice salad dinner this evening with shrimp on top as the main ingredient.

Yesterday was a very down day for me.  I did make it to Sunday School and Church but must admit I sat in Church with my eyes closed (not asleep) listening.  The service was about 15 minutes late in getting out and I had to get something for our main meal yesterday so it was late when I got home. I ate and them laid down for about 2 hours.  Around 8:15 I told Pat I was going to have to go to bed and did so and was asleep shortly thereafter and slept well throughout the night.

Judith, it is your eyes that find the beautiful sights to photograph and the camera is only a tool for your use.  It is what you do with them that counts.  Do you live close to your 8 grandchildren?  We have only one grandchild and she always lived away so only got to see here about once a year when we would travel back to where both my wife and I grew up.  We have four great grandchildren but they live in upstate New York and can only see them in pictures.

Carol, the sure signs of winter when the snow begins to appear on the mountains.  I hope there is a lot of snow this winter to help your water situation.

Colin, Happy Ruby Wedding Anniversary.  I watched the YouTube video and it was very nice. I see your poetry talents haven't lessened in these last few years.  It was good to have pictures to put with names. I did not know you were a grandpa.  Does your grandchild live close enough to you so you can see the child often?

Liz, this is indeed a red letter day with a nice posting from Colin and now to see your posting.  You have been missed.  Happy Birthday a little late but not less sincere in the greeting.  My your cat has certainly had a long life and it must be due to all the loving care you all have provided her.  How is your granddaughter doing now and is she still involved with art?

Pat, thanks for sharing the next writings from the Old Paths.  I am going to copy this and put in my devotional folder and may use it as a devotional in our Sunday School class.  While I only spoke with Jack once I still feel I knew him for a long time and I can relate a little of his background and about our friendship before I would read his writing as the devotional.

Please pray right now for our Jeanne.

One half hour ago, the ambulance was called to take her to the hospital.

I will keep you posted as I have news.

Oh dear, I hope Jeanne will be alright.  Have been, and will continue to pray for her and that God may provide her comfort and peace throughout.

Pat, there are several very good messages in your devotional.  I need to comeback and re-read it and meditate on those messages later, when I have fewer distractions to deal with.  Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Larry, I have tried the "eyes closed, but stay awake" thing in church, but only am successful at the first half.  As with most things you share, I am in awe of you!  With all the food prep and cooking you've been doing lately, I am curious if cooking is something you've picked up lately out of necessity, or if you've always been active in the kitchen.  I actually enjoy cooking, particularly Mexican dishes and outdoor grilling, but can't claim to do so on a regular basis.

Carol, a couple weeks ago you commented on a couple photos I've posted here.  If I remember correctly, you had some history in the Twin Cities areas where I took the shot across the Mississippi River.  The Twin Cities area always surprises me because I normally hate big cities and really dislike heavy traffic, yet there is something about the history of that area that always puts me more at ease than I experience is other large metro areas.  The agricultural and railroad heritage of Minneapolis/St Paul established it as a vital link in western expansion and industry, which even today continues to play an enormous role across the northern plains and to the coast.  And because I've been involved in agriculture all my life and have been an aficionado of most things railroad, I guess I give that region a bit more slack than other cities.  The photo I shared included the Gold Medal Flour mill, the Mississippi River and the former Great Northern Railroad bridge, all things tied to nourishing and providing for millions of people!  The other photo you mentioned, Cold & Lonely, was shot in central South Dakota at the end of a windy winter day.  Oh what a frigid day that was!

Colin, Liz & Judith, it is so nice to have you active with us, please come back often!

I got back from my cousin's wedding in South Dakota late yesterday.  What a busy couple days it was, but the ceremony and key-participants were God-honoring and He was at the center!  I had the opportunity to take some test photos on Friday evening during the rehearsal, and was not very happy with how they turned out.  I was trying to not use flash because I wanted to minimize distraction, but realized that the bride would not be very happy with the photos if I didn't use it.  So I changed my gear line up a bit in preparation for Saturday.  Started shooting the wedding party, family, etc. at 2:00 pm, which ran right up the 5:00 pm ceremony and then the cake cutting, bouquet toss, dances, etc. at the reception....I finally begged out at 9:00 pm after 7 hours of shooting.  Now I have just over 1200 images to work through and select to share with the bride.  While that is going to be a big project, I am just happy that there are a lot of very nice photos captured, as this is something I've never done before and was very nervous about.  Putting all that aside, it is just wonderful to see young adults who love the Lord come together!  I will leave you with a shot of Kristin and Brandon...

And thank you for using my photo for your Thoughts for the week. May our Lord bless you for sharing and may He use you and His Word to minister to many hearts.

SHUT OUT!

The marriage supper of the Lamb
The holy feast of the great I AM
Come ye fed of the living bread
To the bountiful goodness of the table spread
Now eat your fill of all sweet things
In the presence of angels with folded wings
Closed now shut the banquet door
The hall is full no room for more!

Shut out now all who cursed His name
Who wanted to live in sin and shame
Alas for them it is too late
To ask for admission through Heaven's gate
The wedding feast, hear the laughter peal
But you're shut out from the Bridegroom's meal
Prepared by Him for the church His bride
Saved sinners all in and you're outside

Wail o wail with dread you're numb
From oft that table not for you a crumb
In life you were offered the Living bread
But you choose fancy goods of the world instead
Turn away from here with gnashing of teeth
To the darkness of hell and flames beneath
Hope I give while living oh do not doubt
Come to the Saviour and you wont be shut out!

So sorry to hear about Jeanne. I hope she makes a good recovery. Larry I live two miles from my grandson but dont see him too often.

Pat, I certainly will be and am, praying for our Jeanne!  May our merciful God raise her up and allow her to enjoy more years with us on this earth.  She is such a blessing!

We left on Friday to go up to "The Little Apple" Manhattan, Kansas, for Family Weekend at Kansas State University where our Abby is a freshman.  Diane texted us to pack our rain gear, as there was an 85% chance of rain.  We did, thankfully!  On Saturday evening, before time for the big game, the clouds opened and there was such a downpour!!  Wow!  The streets were running like rivers!  Darrel didn't want to go to the Tailgate Party nor the game, so we went back to the hotel.  We hoped to watch the game on TV, but no!  It wasn't televised in Manhattan.  :ticked:  I texted to the kids some, they were getting wet.  Anyway, during half-time, the game was called because of lightning in the area.  I think maybe KU would have won, though, as the score at the half had KU 30 points ahead of Missouri!  ;)

It is so nice to see you posting again, Liz!  I have missed you!  I'm amazed that Squeek is still with you, that is a long life for a cat!  Proves how much TLC she has received from you!  Yes, my hair wanted to be white, and I decided to let it be white!  I like it, and it's sure easier and less expensive than coloring it!  Anyway, I'm old enough now to have white hair!  ;)

Ken, thanks so much for posting that photo of me at the Home Products Dinner.  What a surprise!  These days of internet amaze me.  I was trying not to get hot corn on that boy's hand, thus the crazy expression on my face!  But I did enjoy the experience, even though I paid for it later.  I really enjoy attending things where I get to see so many of the people of our county and surrounding area.

On the way home yesterday, just at sunset, we had a flat tire.  It was shredded!  Took Jeff and a kind man from Ulysses who stopped to help nearly 30 minutes to find the jack and other tools, let the spare down from under the Denali, change it and put everything back.  We had to unload all our stuff from the back to get to some of the things needed.  In the meantime, a cop car stopped, and a young Sheriff's Deputy offered his help, loaning the guys a flashlight so they could see under the car better.  The spare was low, so he quickly drove back to the small town we had just passed, to see if their tire shop was open so we could use their air compressor to put more air in the tire.  He came back and followed us to the town, then passed us to lead the way to the tire shop.

In just a few miles, Jeff said he wondered if the lug nuts got the final tightening after the jack was let down.  He stopped to check and gave them another quarter turn.  When we got into Dodge City we stopped for the last restroom break before home.  Just as we were about to walk out, another Sheriff's deputy came in and asked us if we were in the red Denali out front.  We said yes, and he said he'd had a call from someone, worrying whether the lug nuts had been fully tightened!  God was surely taking care of us!  I felt so grateful and expressed that to the family (and of course to the two officers!)  I said our police have been so maligned and mistreated this year, and here were two examples of them living their motto:  "To Protect and Serve".  I have been thanking our Father ever since, and wrote it in my prayer journal as I do not want to forget their kindness and God's provision.

I'm planning to stay up to watch the debate tonight, even though  I know there will be things that upset me.  I am just praying for both candidates' character to be shown clearly to the voters.  It's time for truth, and for it to be seen without obfuscation!

I pray all of you are having a good day.  Larry, I didn't mean to skip greeting you!  You know you are special to me--as well as to the others here!  Thank you for taking care of yourself.

Colin,

Your poem is very sobering but so full of truth. A long time ago (1994) I wrote a poem called, "The Quiet Little Town." I would like to share it with you and the others here.

THE QUIET LITTLE TOWN

I came upon a 'town' today,
I walked around, but didn't stay.
I noticed things were different here,
Than other towns most everywhere.
The grass was neatly cut all 'round,
And pretty flowers did abound.
Some bushes and some trees grew, too,
It made a very pretty view.

One thing I noted, I must say,
Was all the quietness today.
No rock and roll, no zooming cars,
No honking horns, no noisy bars,
No screaming kids, no shouts around,
No factories . . . no, not a sound.
So quiet was it everywhere,
As quiet as a silent prayer.

One other thing, I noted, too,
There were no churches in my view.
I heard none give a witness true
That, "Jesus shed His blood for you!"
No witness and no tracts were given
To tell you how to get to Heaven.

I go from place to place and then,
I wonder 'bout each one again.
Did he know Christ, oh, was she saved?
Did they know God?  His Son He gave
To give each soul eternally
A life that is from sin set free?
I wonder 'bout the people here,
And did they know the Saviour dear?

I'm sure not everyone knew Him.
I'm sure they all weren't free from sin.
For those who did not want The Lord,
They'll never hear another word,
For God won't bother them again
Until the judgment comes for them.
A word of witness can't be said To them,
because, my friend . . . . they are DEAD!

THE QUIET LITTLE TOWN, YOU SEE, IS THE CEMETERY.

"It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" Heb. 9:27

Colin

Lovely poem Judith. I was wondering about the town until I came to the last lines then I read it all over again!

Ken:  thank you for remembering the old Minneapolis/St.Paul.  Our youngest son was born in St. Paul and we lived also for about 9 years in a town of 500 north of the cities.  Now, you would not believe the change.  The old wildlife refuge near our house is now full of houses - amazing how that happened.  We do have a lot of Minnesota background with Don being from Duluth - right now a grandson is at a college (Gustavus Adolphus) in St. Peter.  A lot of my family was/is in agriculture and raising horses - no one has dairy anymore.  Love the picture of the South Dakota newlyweds.  May they be blessed with a long a happy marriage.

Janet:  Sorry about you having to miss the game - that tire incident worked out well.  It sounds like some fine people live in Kansas.  Oh, you live there too!   ;)

Very nice poetry from Colin and Judith.  Thank you for posting.

Pat:  Please tell Jeanne that we send our prayers for her health.

I haven't heard from Jeanne again.  I think she typed her message on her phone to me.

I'm so very, very happy that you, Liz, have posted to us.  I can't believe Squeak's age although one cat we owned we never really knew her age but she was with us for 21 years as an adult cat.  She had been thrown out of a car window into the ditch and Ian saw it happen as he stepped off the kindergarten bus.

Thanks for the poems, Colin and Judith! What a treat!  I hope that we have many more from both of you.

I've been having a rough day today so won't post more right now but will come back later hopefully.

Yes, it's Judith's birthday!   <3 <3  Even if you're late saying it, please wish Judith a happy one!

Hi, friends,

It's truly wonderful to hear from both old and new friends as I came to read today.

I got to eat with friends after church Sunday, and it was remarkable how one formerly angry aggressive boy to have matured so beautifully.

Thank y'all for the wonderful messages.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  It is another very pleasant morning in my part of the world.

Today is our first Adult Fellowship luncheon and program at the Church starting at 11:30.  The entertainment is from a group of Seniors who are singers in another Methodist Church over in Augusta, Georgia.  Then we will have a lunch of loaded potato soup, salad with baked chicken on it, corn bread, and a dessert.  Fortunately I had put in my notifications sometime ago that I had agreed to bring the devotional as I had totally forgotten and wouldn't have remember if I hadn't set it up to email myself a reminder (I use this system of reminders a lot).  I did have something appropriate in my Devotions folder when I have been accumulating Devotional thoughts that I might want to use in the future.

Later this afternoon Pat has her second Chiropractic treatment for the week, unless it gets cancelled as the Chiropractor and his wife are expecting twins to be born any day now.  That is going to be it for today except for fixing something for Pat's dinner tonight.  I am sure I won't care for a meal this evening as I am always full from the luncheons or evening meals at the Church.

Pat, I was so saddened to learn that Jeanne has had to return to the hospital and am praying for her. Certainly sorry that you had a rough day yesterday and surely hope you are having a better day today.

Ken,  the cooking is something I have not done in all of the 54 years we have been married as my wife is a great cook.  However, it has become a necessity and as I was growing up I did learn a bit about cooking although after all these years the knowledge has certainly faded.  For a number of years now when Pat cooks I do the cleaning up as she never has liked that chore and I didn't mind.  My problem is not so much that I don't like to try my hand at cooking but that I have such limited energy that I get worn out very easily.  So I do a little and then rest for a little while and begin again in the kitchen.  My wife told someone several weeks ago that I was doing the cooking and that she had lost 14 pounds.  She didn't mean this as a criticism as she had been following a strict diet that has caused the weight loss but it makes a funny story.  Her timing on doing the diet couldn't have been worse than when I had to start cooking since it limits a lot of what I might put together as a meal.  Such is life!  What a long day taking photos at the wedding.  They look like a lovely couple and hope they have a long life together.

Colin, thanks or the poem.  At least you will get to see your grandson on occasion and perhaps as he gets a little older he will be able to spend more time with his grandparents.

Janet, sounds like you and Darrel made the right call to retire to the motel rather than get out in the rainy weather and then the crowds when the game was called.  What a nice patrolman willing to go out of his way to help with the flat tire and then the concern expressed about the lug nuts not being tightened.  I take it you were not in your Lincoln.  We also watched the debate last evening and it certainly wasn't boring.  Lester Holt seemed to lose control of the evening early on and could hardly get his questions asked.  I never take offense when I am not mentioned in a posting so don't give it another thought.

Judith, an interesting and thought provoking poem.  Thanks for sharing it.  Happy Birthday and hope it is a very nice and enjoyable day for you.

Marilyn, it sounds like you were up to your elbows in apples but you will enjoy the the outcome of all of your work though out the year.

Judith

Larry,

I did have a wonderful Birthday. THANK YOU!

Larry, the cooking situation at your house is reversed at ours.  Darrel does most of the cooking, and I do the cleaning up.  He likes to cook, and I like to let him!  ;)  Of course, I still cook too, but he does most of it.  No, we weren't in our Lincoln because we took one of Abby's girlfriends, and Diane's sewing machine, and they thought there wouldn't be enough room in it.  The trunk doesn't hold much because the batteries are in the trunk for the electrical power for the hybrid car (Lincoln.)  We were in their GMC Denali, so had lots more room.

On Friday night, we went to the movie "The Magnificent Seven" after getting Gabby over to Abby's dorm.  They were going to a party that night.  The movie was good, a real western shoot 'em up!  They told us they had gone to see "Sully" and that it is really good.  It is to be here in Ulysses this weekend, so we plan to go.  It's about Capt. Sully landing the plane on the Hudson River.

We need to pick more tomatoes tomorrow, and can a few pints.  They are much too good to allow any to go to waste!  We will add some of the nice sweet peppers and some onions, too, if I remember to get some in the morning.

Is there any further word from Jeanne?  Pat, how are you?

I was up later than usual, then really overdid it at the gym this morning.  So this gal is going to bed!

Janet you sure had a biased view of Hillary and I didn't see any of what you described. I'm not a fan of Hillary and not voting for her but I thought she stayed on message very well and knew what she was talking about. As for trump he didn't even answer the questions but when off on his tangents every time. I am not voting for him either I think he doesn't have the right temperament to be the Potus, and is a  Bully who denigrates women and most of the time has no idea what he is talking about , lies and denies his own words that he  either tweeted or spoke. Those are kind words compared to what I really thing of him and her for that matter.

Hi everyone.  I got off to an early start today as got up about 5:30 this morning.  I had gone to bed early as was feeling very weary and had a good 8 hours or more of sleep.  Today should be a pretty light day with just the dinner at church this evening and then our weekly visiting with our son afterwards.

The Adult Fellowship at the Church yesterday was most enjoyable and there was a very nice crowd to enjoy the singing group that provided our program.  The group's director was very outgoing and they sang a series of the old secular songs that I used to play all the time as I was growing up and then a sacred set of the choruses of the old familiar hymns.  The attendees were invited to sign along.  The musical group is made up of older folks who just enjoy singing and from several different churches.  I didn't bring the devotional as had forgotten that I was just on standby as someone had called the coordinator indicating they would like to do a particular devotional.  This was a 1982 piece published in the Guideposts Magazine written by a former pastor of our church, who is long retired, and he and his wife attend our church now and were at the Fellowship yesterday.

A friend came over to visit with Pat yesterday afternoon bringing a homemade pie to bake and a big container of cut up fruit.  I will bake the pie this morning and we will enjoy the fruit for a day or so as it will go quickly.

Marilyn, I don't think I have ever known anyone totally afraid of dogs.  I hope your tuneup with the Chiropractor went well and you are all set for another month or whatever time frame you have between appointments.

Janet, as I cook I clean up and put things away that are no longer needed such as refrigerated items.   I know there are many men who enjoy cooking and I can't say I don't like doing it.  I realize I had better learn how to do the basic cooking as I think Pat will need help in the kitchen from now on.  I had forgotten that your Lincoln was a hybrid.  Do you like the hybrid feature of the vehicle?  I haven't been to a motion picture theater for many years.  Doesn't Tom Hanks play the role of Sully in the movie?

Finally, it is my morning to get to bible study - looking forward to the lecture then the study.  A friend who just had a pacemaker may be able to go to coffee or lunch afterward.

Quilting group was so much fun last night.  One quilter had their contest-winner picture in a quilt magazine so that was fun to view.  My friend just a few houses away had this meeting and I was delayed because another neighbor was out walking with her relative and we just had to talk.    ;D

Janet:  We want to see the movie "Sully" as well.  Take care.

Good day everyone. this morning I peeled another batch of apple that I put in the crock pot without any sugar or cinnamon this time. I still have about 10 more lbs of apples to do something with.

I took Freckles for her morning walk and Keith surprised me and went with us for a change. I had told him about something I saw on TV about active people who walk and exercise being more mobile ion later years, I think that is why he decided to go with us.I did get permission to take Freckles to class, the lady who is afraid of dogs said as long as I kept her on the leash she is OK with that. She told me she has been bitten 13 times, I think I should ask her what the circumstance were that the dogs bit her.

Hi, friends,

It's good to get to keep up with all the goings on here in our quiet place. :)

I'm dealing with seasonal allergies, so haven't gone out today.

Also, I learned this morning that my son who lives in the Philippines has pneumonia. I'm concerned, since he hasn't been in good health for 2 months now.

Y'all take care.

God bless us all.

Ruth Ann

I spoke to Jeanne's son and he says that Jeanne is still in the Emergency Ward where all the necessary machinery is located close by and that her vital statistics were sort of out of whack.

He will let me know if there's any change.

Larry, how am I?  Still about the same.  It's very difficult getting off prednisone.

Hi everyone on this Thursday morning.  I got out early and did the morning outside chores.  This is a busy day for me so will try to be brief with comments today.  Yesterday I stayed home until time to go to the church for the Wednesday evening meal.  Scott called late yesterday afternoon to say he was not up to going and was fighting a migraine headache he had had for two days.  I sure hope he is better this morning.  So I went by myself.  Since I was on the list for two meals I paid for both and brought one home.  It was "breakfast in the evening" last night so I am enjoying a full breakfast this morning and sure won't need to have any lunch, which will work out well as I won't get home until around 1 pm and I will be ready for some rest so won't have to fool with lunch.

Carol, a nice honor to have a quilt picture published in a quilt magazine.

Marilyn, I can understand why the lady would be afraid of dogs after such an experience.

Ruth Ann, I hope your son is getting good treatment for the pneumonia.

Pat, thanks for the update on Jeanne.  I hope she is in a regular hospital bed and not on one of those beds they usually have in the ER that are very uncomfortable.  Sure hope she improves quickly.  Pat I was sure hopeful that you were beginning to feel much better by now.  Sometimes progress seems very slow.

Carol

A bumper sticker here says, "BE KIND" - It is alright to remind ourselves on this once in a while.

Ruth Ann:  How is your son doing with his pneumonia?  Praying for his return to complete health.
