Morning Devotional...
Paul Meets Jesus
Acts 9:1-19a NLT
Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord's followers. So he went to the high priest. He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains.
As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?"
"Who are you, lord?" Saul asked.
And the voice replied, "I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone's voice but saw no one! Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink.
Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, "Ananias!"
"Yes, Lord!" he replied.
The Lord said, "Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again."
"But Lord," exclaimed Ananias, "I've heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name."
But the Lord said, "Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name's sake."
So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." Instantly something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized. Afterward he ate some food and regained his strength.

As Paul traveled to Damascus, pursuing Christians, he was confronted by the risen Christ and brought face-to-face with the truth of the gospel.
Sometimes God breaks into a life in a spectacular manner, and sometimes conversion is a quiet experience. Beware of people who insist that you must have a particular type of conversion experience.
The right way to come to faith in Jesus is whatever way God brings you.

Yesterday was a productive day for me. I did some laundry. Then I took my pruners out and cut down some lilacs that had died. Needed to do this before all the leaves fell so I would know which ones were dead. Then I decided to prune the big Maple behind my kitchen...the one the tree trimmer was to top. I aired up the tires to my cart and loaded the cart to the brim with limbs and off to the woods. I decided to mow since the grass was getting tall.
The big tree that fell soon after FROGGS is gone! Well, some of the trunk is left but it is all cut up ready for a fireplace. Jeff, my nephew, has really worked hard back there. I unloaded my limbs and mowed coming back to the house.
I got the mail and decided I would mow the outer edges of the lane too and it would be all set for winter.
Someone gave me some old sweet corn. I like to dry it and then shell it. I put a few grains in my popcorn. The sweet corn puffs up...doesn't pop open but makes a crunchy corn kernels...not hard like Corn Nuts, though. So I found some containers and went to the deck. I wore some old work gloves with the plastic dots on the palm side...made great shelling gloves! I ended up with probably 4 quarts of corn. Mom called it Parched Corn when cooked!
So then after a shower, I had popcorn and parched corn.
Great day! Oh, yes! When I came back in the house I had a message from Ivalou that she was going to her son's house. No way would I have gone back to the woods if I had known no one was home up here by the house!! ---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

Hi everyone. Another overcast day and in viewing the weather this morning it looks like there is a possibility of some rain sometime today. Nothing unusual about yesterday. I really enjoyed the Georgia/Tennessee football game yesterday. It was a close game with a lot of scoring and fortunately Georgia came out on top. About nine pm last night Pat started having muscle spasms in her lower back and they kept her up most of the night. I used the heavy duty massager we have and that seemed to help for a little while. This morning she used the heat pad and that has also helped. Hopefully this won't be such a miserable day for her as the night was. I think she sat too long at the dining room table working a big 1000 piece zigsaw puzzle yesterday. I did figure out how to be able to get library audio books on her Kindle Fire and she can download them directly to the Fire. I probably will not attend church today as think I need to stay home and see if Pat needs anything that will help her.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week. I imagine you will miss having your brother there close-by. It seems like only a few weeks ago that they made their return to their home near you. I don't think I ever heard of using old sweet corn with popcorn.
Marilyn, nice to read that your cold is doing better. I don't think I would care to get raw garlic although have heard it is good for you.
Thanks for the devotional this morning, Etta Sue.
It's dark, damp and dreary this morning here, too, Larry, but I think you'll be a bit warmer this afternoon than we will. :)
We had a terrific service today and especially meaningful since we missed three weeks being away. Fall has come to this area and it is crisp and cool as normal in the morning with warmth just when we need it - no air conditioning and no heat on right now.
The t.v. still tells us that tomorrow is "terrible traffic" day with downtown having the debates and the only freeway through the city being closed for six hours. Plus, we also know of a lot of construction we ran into on Saturday so everyone might as well stay home. Thankfully, the Broncos playing today - check those scores. We have not seen winning numbers in such a long time.
Today's sermon was on win or lose as that is a big part of life for sure.
Etta Sue: Thank you for devotions. Glad you are enjoying your popped corn.
Hi, friends,
Not too much to say. I've dealt with a bad headache today, so stayed in with a very quiet apartment. I'm thankful I live at the end of the hallway with no one occupying the apartment across the hall. So, it really WAS quiet. :)
Now to sign off for the evening. May our Lord bless us this day is my prayer.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann I pray you will feel better.
I am feeling better today. Back to work at the clinic tomorrow.
Well, this is it. The driving test today. May our God enable me to pssd it this time!
My prayers are with you, Al. :)

Al, hope you have many more driving days ahead of you!
After reading the devotion I posted, I remembered when I accepted Christ. It was late in my life...I was 55 when I was baptized. I was like a sponge...couldn't get enough of Christ and the Bible. I went to Alabama to visit a friend and one of her young friends was there. I was telling her that I had joined Weigh Down Workshop....a biblical based program to lose weight. I was telling her that the more I got into the program, the more I was growing closer to Christ than losing the weight. She looked at me and said 'Seems like to me that you are using Christ the wrong way! He isn't a weight losing tool!' I was stunned. My reply was, 'I didn't think there is a wrong way to come to Christ!'
That will always be in my mind and I hope I never tell anyone anything that might bring doubts to their mind about their journey with Christ.
Today I am taking Hawaii back to the dealership. She is fine...just that when they worked on the AC, they ordered a shield that is a safety shield that goes between the AC unit and the motor so someone who may work on the car in the future can't get into the AC unit. I didn't know that was needed and took a few days of telephoning back and forth to realize it was indeed for Hawaii!
Then this evening is Church Council meeting. Oh, how I wish they would say that the commissioner in Hamilton County has okayed the drainage permit so that we may start our new church building. What he said we needed to build a new church is un-called for! He said we needed to purchase 4.5 more acres and put in a 3-acre pond for drainage....that's for the whole community of Clarksville...and at the expense of the church. That is way more than the cost of our new church!! Please pray with me that the permit that is proposed by the church is permitted!!
Other than me stating that I am sore from my tree trimming Saturday, I am super fine today! I should be...I think I slept 15 out of the last 24 hours!!
Now I can officially say that ¾ of 2012 is behind us!! ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Hi, friends, I'm much better today. Thank you for your prayers.
Al, my prayers go with you today.
My son will be taking a very important exam for his new job today or tomorrow, so I've been praying that our Lord will give him wisdom and power as he takes this exam.
It's time for me to take little Josie car in for some TLC, also. I'm certain her brakes need care, and also an alignment.
Well, I must go, so may our gracious and loving Lord grant us this day to live close to Him and serve others.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. We have a very rainy day after an rainy night and the possibility of strong winds and tornados later this afternoon in the area as we are under a watch until 9 pm. I am happy to be able to write that Pat's back spasms seem to have passed and she got to feeling better yesterday and seems ok today. I spent the morning working on getting the bills paid and records up-to-date. Today was my Monday men's luncheon and went are to Wild Wings.
Jeanne and Carol, it sounds like fall is hitting areas with the cooler temps.
Carol, Denver had a good game yesterday. I watched the early part of it but changed games when it was obvious they were winning big. The Falcon's had a close call but were able to end of a winner again. I wonder why those debates couldn't be held in D.C. or somewhere that it wouldn't cause such havoc to the traffic?
Ruth Ann, where Stace was living there were always doors slamming and she trouble with people playing music too loud or having arguments during the night. She is much happier where she is now living. Glad to read that the headache is gone today.
Marilyn, glad you are feeling better.
Al, I scanned down to see if you had posted about passing your driving exam. I hope no news is good news.
Etta Sue, it looks like if the part was a needed on the car it should have come as original equipment. Hope you got your car fixed. It sounds like your church may have to take the case to court as it sounds like one person is trying to call all the shots.
Praise our God! I just got back from the driving test - and I passed! Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory!
Hurray! I'm glad to hear it, Al. I've been praying for you.
We've been away on a camping trip to the Atlantic provinces. It was a wonderful trip, and we really enjoyed looking at God's creation. Now to settle into retirement.
Great news, Al!
Hi everyone. It is a beautiful sunny morning after a very rainy night with some extremely heavy rain. Fortunately we didn't lose power during the night. As soon as Pat is ready we are going to go back to Steak and Shake for breakfast. Now that I don't go to coffee on Tuesdays and Thursdays if give us the opportunity to go out for breakfast. I won't have what I had last time as it was too much to eat although it was very tasty. I may attend a meeting this morning but that will probably be it for today.
Al, that is indeed good news about the driving test and now you have wheels again and won't have to depend on someone else.
Betty, your camping trip sounds like a nice way to start your retirement life.
Great news, indeed, Al! I know you are pleased these continuing tests are done and over with.
Praise the Lord, Al, just great news....
Be careful out there now---

Praise the Lord, Al! Even if you only drive short trips, it gives you independence to not rely on others.
Ivalou's blood work was fine for the potassium...right in the norm. Her mammogram was great. Her bone density is fine. But she needs to see a specialist about her rotor cuff tear. She is on Coumadin so that is a problem but I also know that things are so much better and easier today than even a few years ago! It would be wonderful if she didn't have that sudden pain in her arm that causes her to almost cry! The nurse's office was to call her back to tell her when her appointment will be. I haven't heard.
Yesterday I did get Hawaii fixed. It seems when they replaced the AC condenser that they broke a bolt or something on the old shield so that's why they had to get a new one.
And yes, the church has hired a lawyer to go to Mr. Ward and see if he can get him to change his mind! He has had dealings with Mr. Ward before and won all of them!! That is encouraging. But when that will happen, I don't know! Hamilton County is a rich county with lots and lots of new buildings, house, businesses and churches. We have been told if we had purchased land 2 miles east in Madison County, we would already be in a new church building!! God will either open the door or close it permanently!
It is rainy and hazy and cloudy and overcast today! A great day to stay put inside these walls. And that, I will do!....until I put out the trash this evening and get the mail! »ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏïS«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

Al: What wonderful news for you and Marbeth.
Larry: So glad that your Pat is feeling better. Ruth Ann: Your headache is gone! Keep us posted about your son -- we all wish him the very best on his test.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank every one of you who prayed about the driving test. Our Father heard you and sent His blessing!
Feeling a little bit better today, but this cold is sure hanging on.
Congratulations Al
Well, here I am again. It's been a good and very busy day.
My son's test is scheduled for 10:30 Eastern time tomorrow morning. Please pray for strength, understanding, and peace as he takes this important test.
Love to all,
Ruth Ann
Praying Ruthann
Hi everyone. It is dark outside but think it will be another nice day. Pat finished up her therapy yesterday when both she and the therapist agreed that she really wasn't making any more progress. She had 16 therapy treatments. Today should be a light schedule. I will go to coffee at McDonald's shortly and may go to Bible study after that. I have no idea yet whether Pat will be up to going or not. Then the rest of the day I will rest and hopefully stay home. We do plan to watch the debate tonight.
Etta Sue, glad you got your car repaired and it makes more sense now that they were replacing a broken part and not putting in something new. Hope the lawyer for your church is successful and you don't have to move to another county.
Ruth Ann, we will be waiting to hear good results from your son's test today.
Hope this is a good day for all who pass by this way today.

I was woke by the phone this morning. It was my Urology office calling saying that the doctor will be out of the office Oct 17 and did I want to reschedule my appointment? I know she has no idea what I see him about. She said she would reschedule me for Nov 30. I hung up and thought a couple of more weeks will be okay....then realized that is six weeks later!! So I called my office in Noblesville...the extension I had was for the nurse. I left a message telling her my problem and for her to have the receptionist call me. Then I found the receptionist number. I called her. She is new and said that Dr. Knapp was scheduled solid and no way could I get in before the 30th of November! Then the nurse called me...new nurse...Wanda, the one I think forgot the numbing solution the last time doesn't work there anymore!! Wonder why? So explained to Linda what and why I needed to see a doctor that does Botox earlier than Nov 30. She said she would see what she could do and would call me back...yeah, right! Famous last words. :-\
But within 10 minutes she did call back and they are squeezing me in Oct. 26th! :D What a nurse! <3 Now it is only a week later instead of 6 weeks later! :cheer: I think I will schedule for 6 months this next time instead of 7 months! My bladder is telling me 6 months is enough!
Today my plans are to go to the pool. Then get some cat food at Pet Supply, then to Walmart. This evening I need to make a salad to take to a funeral dinner tomorrow afternoon.
Don't forget to watch the debates this evening!!:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I'll be out of the apartment, but am taping the debate to watch later this evening.
My son passed his test. Thank you all for praying and praise and adoration of our Lord for answers to prayer.
Much love to all,
Ruth Ann
Great news about tests being passed !
Yes, we are sure to watch the debates. It still amazes me that so many people interviewed on the street just do not know anything and apparently do not care. We had a phone call from our neighbor who is battling cancer and he felt good and wanted to go out for a mexican dinner. So, we dropped everything and said, sure! He is eating well and feeling well but had to go back on the stronger chemo probably forever.
Larry: Sorry that Pat isn't making progress after so many appointments. Perhaps there are exercises she can do right at home? Our weather is changing right now and it is chilly outdoors but the house is still too hot - tomorrow is another situation and perhaps the heat will be turned on in the morning.
Etta Sue: Great that you have your schedule the way you need it now.
Tomorrow's a very busy day, so don't know if I'll get back in for a day or two, but will check in as soon as I can.
Love y'all,
Ruth Ann

I am not one to watch the news...too much doom and gloom...but I did watch the debate! I think Mitt came out with great answers and ideas and Obama was befuddled with surprise of how articulate Mitt is! Keep up the great, fantastic work Mitt!
I accomplished all I set out to do yesterday...now to start today!
First, Ivalou and I are getting our haircut. Then we will get us a fast lunch probably at Hardee's. Then we want to go to a funeral visitation. I will bring Ivalou home, get my salad from the fridge and go to the church to work the funeral late lunch/early dinner. These dinners always bring a smile to my heart. Such a needed occasion for the family to un-wind.
Then it will be home to un-wind myself.
Tomorrow Kitty and I want to go to Riley Days at Greenfield, IN. It's festival time in Indiana. If it is raining, then we will find something to do..we are just planning a day together! <: )) ))><<~~> <: )) ))><<~~< <: )) ))><<~~<

Hi everyone. Another sunny morning here in Georgia. My main activity for today will be leaving shortly to make a trip across Northern Atlanta to see my Urologist for a followup visit related to the prostate cancer. Last evening Pat and I joined friends for a nice dinner and conversation at a local restaurant.
Ruth Ann, congrats to your son and sure it is a relief to him and you. Does he have more exams to do or is he finished with this phase of the training?
Carol, we watched the debates last evening. It is amazing how many people seem to have no interest in what is happening to their country and one day, perhaps soon, will wake up with few freedoms.
Etta Sue, agree with your comments on the debates. So nice of you to help with the funeral dinners. Sounds like you have a full day today.
The furnace is on because it is 34 degrees outside but the house only went down to 61 degrees. Good house even though the windows are not the best. We have lots of windows - the better to watch the deer in back this morning who were in turn watching the neighborhood tailgaters (drivers).
Etta Sue: I so admire you for speaking you piece on the debates.
Larry: Don said that it would be interesting to have a real manager again and he mentions Eisenhower as the last real manager. A person who could prioritize and delegate - it would be a different government for a while at least. Have a safe drive and good checkup today!
We had such a good bible study yesterday and perhaps it seemed better because I missed the entire month of Sept. We count our blessings on finding this church, neighborhood and friends after leaving Ft. Collins and moving so many times in our lives - this is my favorite place.
Today my son actually got the CDL license in his hands. And, since he's been sick with an upper respiratory infection through the entire rigorous training period, the main trainer approached him and will lend his vehicle and keys so he can get treatment tomorrow at Veterans hospital in Dayton.
Oh, how I praise the Lord for His tender loving care over all his children (big or small).
My training sessions went well toda, so now I'm well versed in the new Medicare changes for the upcoming enrollment period (Oct. 15 through Dec. 7). Did y'all see that Medicare has not only authorized payment of regular flu shots for us, but for those of us with age-related conditions, we are allowed to get a 4 times stronger flu shot this year, again, at no cost to us. How very thankful I am for that change! And some of the presenters had not read that yet, so it was such a joy to actually be able to contribute this small, but important, piece of information in my small group session.
Now, to rest --- tra-lah-lah-lah, it's off to BED I go!
G'nite, folks,
Ruth Ann
Whew! I have just finished reading all the posts from the past almost three weeks! Glad to read the good news from Al, to know Carol and Don are safely home again, that Stacey is home from the hospital, that Pat got some relief for her back, that Marilyn's cold is better, that Ruth Ann is still our sweet encourager, that Larry is still our model for living fully in today, to hear from Janice....and whatever else I am forgetting at this moment!
We got home Tuesday evening and I have been playing 'catch up' since then. I needed to get more interviews done, as they printed the last story they had, so I got two done today. Tomorrow I will type them up and get them to the News. Which reminds me, whose was the last one I posted in here? I need to post some more for you. It's a fun project, as each person has such a different story from anyone else.
We had a nice trip, and the trees were changing colors, something I have always wanted to see. Even though they weren't at their peak color yet, they were so beautiful, and I thought of Jeanne every day, as I know she lives where she sees that magnificent sight each year.
I will tell you more about the trip in the days to come, but I'd better get myself to bed now, before my face hits the keyboard!
Love to all of you----Oh! Jane! Good to "hear" from you, too!
Janet

Ivalou and I got our hair cut and set. We had a lunch at Hardee's. Then to the funeral home. I saw people I hadn't seen for over 50 years. My, they look old!! :D
Then it was home to take Ivalou and get my salad and off to church. Then it was wait until the funeral party came. So nice to link people to people...parents to kids and g-kids. After clean up at church, I came home and mowed the grass!!
I was certainly ready for bed!
Then again, I woke about an hour before the alarm and just cat napped the rest of the time. I am squeaky clean and ready to leave for Kitty's in a few minutes. We plan to go to Riley Day's at Greenfield...James Whitcomb Riley lived in Greenfield years ago...remember 'Li'l Orphant Annie'? His birthday is October 8th so the Riley Days are always near that. But it looks like rain so if it is raining by the time we get to Greenfield we are going on south to Columbus for lunch and then to an outlet mall so Kitty can see if she can get some new shoes. She has to wear special shoes that takes her inserts $$$$$.
That's it for today!
Again, it cloudy and looks like rain and cold!(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253ECrosses.gif&hash=a20248754210521e37b5468eb257de739e5571d0)

Hi everyone. Yesterday was a very busy day as had an appointment with my urologist in the morning and then stopped at Aldi's on the way home for our monthly larger stock up of groceries and produce. By the time I got home I was beat. I did finish watching the "Phantom of the Opera" on Netflix and it was great. At the end they brought out the men who have played the Phantom part on the London stage and they all sang with Andrew Lloyd Weber. The costumes and production were unbelievable as was the singing. Just back from coffee at the senior center and plan on attending my ROMEO's men's luncheon at noon and maybe watch the Braves in their playoff game this evening.
Carol, it is always great when we find the church that is for us. One of the first things we do when we move is check out local churches. I see it is really cold out your way today. It is fun to watch the dear. I haven't seen any in our yard for a long time but am not where I could see them even if they were in the yard. Sometimes I do see tracks.
Ruth Ann, is your son going to be based in Dayton for his job? Hope the infection can be quickly eradicated. Your training sounds interesting. We got our new Medicaid book in the mail a couple of days ago.
Janet, glad to see you home and to see you had a nice trip. I have been missing seeing postings from you these last several days.
Etta Sue, hope you and Kitty enjoy your day at Riley Days and that the rain stays away until the event is over.
Good morning, friends,
It's so good when we awaken fom a refreshing night's sleep, isn't it. Now, to the activities of today... :)
Well, I relaxed my left wrist for a jiffy and all I had typed went away.
My son will aparently be based in his truck cab. :)
The gentleman who moved in to the motel room last night is finishing his 6 month commitment with the company, and in the last 6 months, he has only missed being in 2 states. So my son will be seeing new and different parts of the country for awhile. :)
Larry, if you look on the back of your Medicare book for this year, you'll see the name of the volunteer organization I work with - it's called SHIP. There are more than 450,000 of the volunteers who, with coordination by our SHIP coordinators, help others choose the best plans for them, given health conditions and medications plus finances. It's such a worthy opportunity to serve without pay. I'm so thankful we can each find our ways to contribute, some (like Marilyn) work with pets, others (like you and Etta Sue) have contributed to both community organizations and the church with your own talents, and so many of our members - God gives us a way to serve. It's so satisfying to do so - and I think of the phrase "if you helped them, you did it unto Me."
Y'all have a great day with our Lord. I'll be mighty busy the next 2-3 days, so will check in as opportunity rises.
Love and adoration to our wonderful Lord, and love and gratitude for this website and the opportunity to share our lives and to help bear the loads of others,
Ruth Ann
Afternoon folks it is sunny 61*F here today however, we can expect, snow by Tuesday. I know that is a 4 letter word, especially for those of us who don't like cold.
We have beauty beyond what a camera can catch, reds, oranges, yellow, rusty oak, and deep green of our evergreen trees as a contrast. It is absolutely beautiful. The leaves will have dropped by Monday......sad to see them go. The wind has already started to set up.
We have 3 large trees to cut down, cut to length and split, then get thrown into the basement. This will be a heavy work weekend.
To my Canadian friends :ppie: enjoy the pumpkin pie! To my American friens have a great weekend!
We got up to 70 today with lots of sunshine and it looks like that will be it for quite a while. We aren't expecting snow yet, like Judy, but the frost warnings are out for next week, after some low temps and rain over the weekend.
The news programs are saying the colors, especially in the Adirondack mountains, are great this year, but in my immediate vicinity they seem very dull. Even the yellows are kind of "rusty" looking, and I haven't seen any really bright reds at all so far.
Good evening--or good morning, depending on when you turn on and tune in!
I managed to stay busy again today. I have three more interviews ready to type, and permission for several more, so will continue to be busy for a while.
We have frost warning for tonight or tomorrow night, too.
Larry, thanks for noticing that I'm back! ;)
Janet, welcome back. You were missed!
Hello, Janice, and thanks!
I'm up because I couldn't sleep, my stomach is having fits. Ugh. Computer is a way to get through the long sleepless nights. Maybe soon I can sleep some, at least I really hope so!
Hi everyone. Another Saturday morning and it looks like it is going to be a nice one. I will go to coffee at McDonald's but may not stay very long as the two guys that always join me on Saturday are either out of town or have another commitment. However, their may be someone there to talk with. I have a meeting to attend this morning and then will enjoy the football games. I was sorry to see the Atlanta Braves lose their game last night and to see how badly the fans behaved with what they thought was a bad call-no excuse for throwing things on the field. Today Georgia has to play South Carolina and that is always a tough game for them.
Yesterday morning I saw an ad for Fry's that they had a new Lenovo laptop for just a little over $200 that had 4 GB of memory and 320 GB of hard disk space and it had Windows 7 professional and a free upgrade when Windows 8 is released later this year. I am now the owner of one of these. The old laptop I was using is very slow and unreliable and is the one Pat had given up when she got her new laptop. I spent the evening loading the programs I want on it and getting it set up. I still have more to do but not too much.
Ruth Ann, you are so right that each of us has opportunities to serve others in some capacity and often we don't even realize it. Even a smile to a stranger may be service as that may make someone's day brighter. It sure sounds like your son is going to be seeing the country. Does his truck have sleeping quarters or will he be staying in motels along the way?
Judy, your country sounds so beautiful. None of our trees have started to shed their leaves yet although looking very drab. The yards are still green as we had that large rain a few days ago. Don't envy you all with that heavy work involving the cut down trees. I hope you are not going to jeopardize your repaired shoulders.
Jeanne, I guess it is time for frost up north. I think we are to have cooler temps into the 40s at night perhaps starting tomorrow. Your trees must look a lot like ours in being rather drab.
Janet, hope you were able to go back to sleep and your stomach calmed down.

Well, yesterday I had read that neither Kitty nor Bob could put together an artist easel that Kitty purchased. Then my phone rang. It was Kitty saying that the TV just said that rain was on it's way and perhaps hail. And maybe we shouldn't be out in it and to leave later. So I told her that I just read her email and why don't I come to her house to see if I could put her easel together.
So I went to Kitty's. Well, I determined that she had identical uprights instead of a left and a right one. So we boxed up the easel and headed to Hobby Lobby to exchange it. It was raining big time, I drove since Kitty doesn't like driving in the rain.
It was kind of suppose to be my birthday outing. So after the exchange, we went to Don Pablos. We both have reward cards and the waitress came back with mine and said that I get $10 off of my meal for my birthday!! (it was only good for 3 more days) So my lunch was very reasonable!!
Then we decided we had enough of running in and out of rain and went to her house. Within a half hour, we had the easel put together!! Her painting teacher told her she needed to paint in natural light instead of the basement even with certain kinds of light bulbs. So she has decided to paint in her dining room since it is only used as a dining room at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Later last night she sent me a photo of a photo of her granddaughter, Katie, and the beginning of a painting of Katie! I know Kitty will really enjoy painting upstairs and not in the basement!
And I got two messages on my answering machine when I got home yesterday. I didn't understand the message...just that it was from Chuck and hoping I was Etta Sue. Then the second message was his phone number. I called back and sure enough it was my husband's son, Chuck. I haven't heard from Chuck since his Dad's funeral day 21 years ago. Seems that he is bringing his wife, Julie, to Indiana to show her where he used to live and go to school and wants to see me and where his Dad is buried. He didn't even know I didn't live in Greenfield anymore!! So I expect I will see him within a couple of weeks but I am not holding my breath until I see him...if you know what I mean....
It is a beautiful sunny bright day today after lightening, thunder and rain during the night. Wish it would get dry enough for the farmers to pick the corn that surrounds our three houses so we can see out! That day will come soon.o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

I got two more stories ready for the paper, and another one partly done. The lady is 95 and somewhat confused. So I need someone from her family to help me sort things out. For starters, she told me she was born during the Civil War! And she was quite insistent about it! ;) Such a sweet little lady, though, and fun to talk with, even if things don't quite jibe. But I'd like to have the story at least sound plausible. :)
It has been cool and drizzly here today. I spent most of the afternoon at the care home. I am wanting to get at least two weeks ahead again. And I will put some more of them in here for you to read, as well. People are really enjoying the stories, so that makes it worth my time.
Darrel and I just went out and brought in three of the tomato plants in big pots, so the frost won't get them if it comes tonight. I thought it frosted last night, but the tomatoes are fine, and quite a few nice sized ones still on the vines, so I'd like to keep them.
I have been sort of at loose ends all day, except for the time spent at the care home. Guess I need to start reading another good book, also catching up on my Bible reading. One of the gals took my bag containing my one year Bible by mistake when we got home from the trip.
Etta Sue, you're a real helper! Thanks for all you do to help folks. God will reward you!
Heavy day cutting wood between rain and snow showers. Not as much as we wanted dome but more than if we had quit. Thank you to Elizabeth and her boyfriend!
