Morning Devotional...

God In Our Midst

And He said, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Then he said to Him, "If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here."
Exodus 33:14-15

In what I have to say I may not be joined by any ground swell of public opinion, but I have a charge to make against the church. We are not consciously aware of God in our midst. We do not seem to sense the tragedy of having almost completely lost the awareness of His presence....

Revival and blessing come to the church when we stop looking at a picture of God and look at God Himself. Revival comes when, no longer satisfied just to know about a God in history, we meet the conditions of finding Him in living, personal experience....

Modern mankind can go everywhere, do everything and be completely curious about the universe. But only a rare person now and then is curious enough to want to know God.
Dr. Tozer in Men Who Met God, 121-122,127.

"Oh Lord, show me Your glory. I don't want to be satisfied with just a second-hand picture of You; I want to sense Your living presence with me today. I long to know You. Amen."

Marilyn:  So sorry for Keith that he is sad - losing a pet is more difficult than a lot of people realize.

Janet:  Our daughter is having a lot of pain from working on a rental house - she may be going for acupuncture.  It isn't easy

The new & tiny church meeting at school was terrific.  Everyone was so young, except one mom visiting from Washington.  Music was great, they sounded like ABBA influence, the pastor went over & beat the drums & said later that he is looking for a drummer.  Not a note he read - it did remind me of the church in Texas we helped from the beginning.  We will go again but still want to go to some other ones in the area.  Here is the most interesting thing.  This pastor knows our former pastor, at our former church where I was a deacon, who is moving to a suburb of Atlanta - Next, one of the younger gals yesterday went to Seattle Pacific U - right across from our family business - and she student taught at my very old elementary school.  Very small world.  They took up an extra collection for Haiti where the hurricanes are devastating.

Rainy & cool here, I think we might go to the community rec center for the first time to walk at least.  Need to get to the library & return books that I didn't even have time to read.  Another son & wife were here last night and we grilled little steaks for dinner.  This is so much fun.

Good morning, yesterday was an extremely busy day for me. It started about 5 am, cuz I needed to prepare some food for the after church dinner. I wanted to make a mcaroni salad and had looked through recipe book after recipe book, and found none that suited my fancy, so I made up my own recipe. It was a combination of macaroni, shredded carrots, a very few sliced olives, 3 hard boiled chopped eggs, parmesan cheese (lots of it), a bit of black pepper and seasoned with several dashes of Kraft Greek Vinagrette dressing and just a squeeze or two from the lime juice bottle. Lots of compliments, so I was glad it turned out OK.

Next was a prepared mix called Pecan Bars. They were easy to do, but took longer since I used my toaster oven, not the big one.

Then, Grandparents Day breakfast at church, both Sunday school and church, then the dinner on the ground. This was the back to school bash for the kids, so they carried the tables outside, where magically the kids showed up in their swimsuits and enjoyed inflatable jumping and water things that were rented for the day, and parents and loving church members could keep a close eye on them.

It's such a great thing to see our church beginning to grow again. Thank the Lord for answered prayers.

And last, I checked out the YMCA not too far from the church. They have a room where a person can exercise at their own pace. The Y near my home doesn't have it, so I'll plan to go at least twice a week to the one close to church, especially on days when I attend church activities.

My daughter in law's father is still holding on to life, but in grave condition. Would continue your prayers for Trent and the family.

A great time yesterday.  I really enjoyed having dinner with Tony and Charlene.  And the best treat was them coming in the house when we got back here.  Tony played with the cats on the floor with a piece of yarn I cut.  Charlene rocked in my slider rocker.  I showed them some sites on the laptop that achieved with StumbleUpon.  She wanted me to send her some of them.  They like my laptop and Tony even helped me find the flyout for my built-in WebCam...but I don't remember now how we did it.

StumbleUpon is neat.  Just go to www.stumbleupon.com .  You follow the instructions to download a bar, then tick your likes and then click the StumbleUpon button.  I have to limit myself to 5 clicks.  The sites that come up are randomly chose from the likes that you ticked.  If you don't like them, then click the 'I don't like' button and you won't get any similar to that again.  Neat!!

In a few minutes, I am going with Ivalou, Kaye Don and Barb out for breakfast.  Then this evening, Kitty, Cherie and I are going out to eat and to Photo Guild.  Fun day!!

Good Morning I went to Curves this morning at my usual time and whoever was supposed to opened didn't show up so at 6 I left. Have had my breakfast, gotten dressed all except for my shoes, put on a little bit of makeup so I am almost ready for my day. I will be going to my Tai chi class today, and to take the lady to walk her dogs.

Keith came online a few minutes ago to tell me that his kitty passed away at 10 last night. he feels so bad.

well I better put my shoes on now. TTYL

Hi everyone.

About 45 minutes ago I had a call from my daughter-in-law saying our son had been taken to the hospital.  He hadn't been feeling well over the weekend but went to work this morning.  They are very health conscious at his place of employment and had him see the nurse.  When she took his blood pressure it was too high so they sent him to the doctor and they did an EKG, which wasn't good, and the doctor sent him on to the hospital.  That is all I know at the moment.  I am trying to stay in the moment and not let my mind deal with what might be because it might not be either.  We will hear more when my DIL and granddaughter get to the hospital.  Right now all I can do is pray and would appreciate your including Scott in your prayers this morning as know pray helps in every situation.

Pat has gone to meet a friend for lunch and didn't turn her cell phone on so doesn't know.  I am meeting some men friends for lunch at 1 pm but I gave my DIL my cell number so can stay in touch.

Liz, I liked your funny.

Etta Sue, glad you received just a warm welcome into your new church.

Marilyn, sorry to read about Keith's cat.  It is a sad day when we lose a pet.

Ruth Ann, your macaroni salad sounds good.  This is the way new recipes are created.

Carol, it is indeed a small world.  It is nice there are links to your past already in the new church you visited.

Janet, we must get the same newsletter as I just read the same article regarding Iran.  Glad you have a not-too-hard day at work yesterday.

Hi Melody.

LARRY!!!  We're praying.  I'm sure that Paul will be reading here and will be praying as well.

Too bad, Marilyn, about the kitty...

Sorry about Keith's cat, Marilyn.  Pets do become a part of our families.

Larry, I will be praying for Scott.  Your family doesn't need more challenges!  But God knows all about it, and He is good, all the time.

I seem to be sort of at loose ends today.  I couldn't sleep last night, finally took an ambien about 2, then slept late this morning, throwing the whole morning out of whack.  Maybe I will get it together pretty soon.

It is cool and cloudy here again today.  We are enjoying it, but thinking of those in the path of the hurricanes.

Thank you all for the prayers.  We have spoken a couple of times with our granddaughter and DIL since I posted this morning.  The blood tests confirm he did have a heart attack on Saturday in the lower part of his heart.  They have admitted him to the hospital and will do a cath tomorrow to see if he needs a stent and I am sure they will look at the rest of his heart as well for any other blockages.  He is resting comfortably, except for the headache the nitro drip always brings on.

Pat, I also echo your message to Larry. I'm SO sorry to hear of this new concern and also of Scott's heart attack. I'll be going to prayer as quickly as I get off the computer.

Y'all, here's a PRAISE REPORT! Trent (my daughter in law's father) accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour this morning in the presence of all 4 of their children and his wife (their mother). Oh, how thankful I've been all day, and I've wondered if Heaven could send us a video of the rejoicing that took place around the Throne when this lifelong unbeliever came into the fold.

He was sent home with hospice care today, so the entire family would appreciate continued prayers for Trent and the family.

Imagine how this will bolster little Kassie's faith...she has faithfully prayed for "Pappa" and for her father, both of whom were not Christians. I remember how I came to believe in the power of prayer and of God's answer to prayer when a favorite uncle and his wife (my great aunt) were saved from a life of drunken debauchery into the glorious Light of belief in our Lord. Especially since she's now 13 and headed into the perilous teenage years, this must be a red letter day to help strengthen her faith.

Marilyn, it's truly sad for Keith that he's lost his beloved furry companion.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

I see that Ruth Ann has posted what I came to say:

                            HAPPY  BIRTHDAY  ETTA SUE

Was reading on Sr. Net and made the discovery.

Nice warm weather on the island right now.  In fact, today was actually HOT.  Fall is turning out to be better than Summer....

My daughter and I paid a visit to the Dr. today.  She for a presc. refill and to book an appt. for a Physical.  Me to see about the SuperBug that lasts and lasts....I asked about the vac. for Shingles, since reading that it was needed for people over 60.  Also because I know someone who has it and it's not nice.  Seems here in BC one can only get the vac. if compromised immune system exists.  Also not covered by our glorious medical plan.  Interesting, since the paper today stated that everyone over 60 should be vaccinated ::)

Stopped and prayed for all the requests as I was reading the posts.  So sorry to read about your son, Larry.  Also sad about Beth and know that you will do all the research possible, Janet.  There is always hope with so much new research being conducted.

I really enjoyed the video you posted, Marilyn.  Also, sorry to hear about Keith's fur pal.  It really hurts to lose a pet.

The devotional was so on track.  Thanks Pat.  It seems to me that instead of CHANGE or REFORM, what our countries need to do is REPENT!

This was today's Daily Bread:

Beware of the temptation that success brings. There is grave danger in getting what we want.  — Philip Yancey

I blindly ask for what I crave,
With haughty heart and will so stout;
He oft denies me what I seek,
But gives me grace to do without. —Anon.

There is no failure more disastrous than the success that leaves God out.

I hope they don't mind me posting that.... :-\

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless

Liz

Happy Birthday Etta Sue or is it belated now! I have been so busy decorating so have had not much time on the computer and have been rejoicing at the good news here and saddened to hear the not so good. First I would like to give thanks to Almighty God for His salvation for Trent. Now that is a thing for rejoicing over! I am so sorry to hear of your son's problems Larry. I find you once again being kind and thoughtful in the midst of another trial for you and your dear wife. Marilyn I am sorry about Keith's cat.
To all the rest I have read your posts and thinking about you all. Take care and God bless.

IN MY HEART A MELODY

In my heart a melody
A song of sweet refrain
To give it sound, try I might
But lips they part in vain

They can't form the words
My tongue can't give it voice
Yet my heart lifts it to God
For it has no other choice

But sing to Him inaudible
To praise His holy name
Washed it was by His blood
And on it He has a claim

It is His, bought at price
He made it His very own
All it wants in worship's song
Is to praise His name alone

Sweet melody of praise
So hard for failing tongue
To phrase its words aloud
This song that must be sung

Of love and joy and happiness
Of freedom and of peace
This melody within my heart
Only God hears its release

In my heart sweet melody
Lips can't give it song
But praise is lifted to Him
In my heart all day long

Colin Moffett

Guess I was thinking about someone's name in here and came up with this poem.  <3

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday, Etta Sue.

Nothing new here on our son.  We decided yesterday not to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to Augusta as his wife and daughter are with our son.  This morning Pat is having second thoughts but I just do not feel that the trip is necessary as it would be one more thing our son would worry about and he doesn't need that.  He wasn't sure whether he was going to have the cath at 10 this morning or have it this afternoon.  We will be standing by the phone as our DIL or granddaughter will keep us informed.

Colin, another wonderful poem.  Good to see your posting and thanks for sharing that with us.

LIz, I had the shingles shot probably a year ago when I was seeing the doctor and happened to mention it to him.  Fortunately our insurance does cover the cost.  Glad you are finally being able to enjoy some warm weather.

Ruth Ann, that is certainly a reason for celebration regarding Trent.

Thank you all again for the prayers.  Perhaps some reconciliation will come from all of this.

Trent left to be in Glory this morning. Oh, how thankful for the knowledge that he's now rejoicing, out of pain, and getting to know his Saviour and Lord face to face today.

Visitation is tonight, since almost everyone is right there in Georgia. I'll be leaving about noon to go down there.

Please pray for a safe journey for me and for my knee to hold up to the strain.

Awww, Ruth Ann, what a wonderful time he's having in Glory right now.  I'm so happy that you were able to share with us all that wonderful news of his salvation.

I'm sorry for the family that have to say "Farewell" as it is a sad time in many ways but so wonderful to know where he is.

Yes, we'll be praying for you as you travel to the funeral.

What a lovely poem, Colin!

My post disappeared into cyberspace.

I am off to the Chiropractor at 9:30 then I have to take those other dogs for their walk then the cable man will be here around noon. I had my satellite dish shut off and going back to cable. I am getting a deal with a better price and the option to choose the channels I will get. Leaving off all those shopping networks and infomercial channels, plus I will be able to get the regular networks, which I have not had on the dish. After all this I will walk Happy and Bebe.

Tomorrow will be a busy day too, Here I am not working and still so busy. The dogs are going to the groomer tomorrow morning, then I go to Tai Chi practice, from there go walk those other dogs. come home finish packing, pick up the dogs, take them for their walks; whew I am already tired.

Keith is so devastated over the loss of his kitty. She was his only companion for the last 3 years. She would come running to him when he came home from work. She spent so much time in his lap. At first she wouldn't let me pet her but sh gradually warmed up to me just a enough to let me pet her while he held her. I will miss her too

Hi Pat you were posting while I was typing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ETTA SUE!!!

And many more!   You are such a blessing to all of here on Christian Photographers.

I have stuff to do today--how different is that?  ;)  So will make this short.

Ruth Ann, how wonderful that Trent gave his heart to the Lord, even if at the very last minute.  How much consolation that must be to his family, knowing that now they will see Trent again.  I rejoice with them in that knowledge.  Please take good care of our Ruth Ann while away for the funeral.

Larry, God promised not to allow us to have more than we can handle with His grace.  But I am so sorry about Scott's heart problems.  Is this a heritability thing in your family, by any chance?  Both of your kids are so blessed to have such loving and caring parents.  My prayers are with you all.

I will try to come back later and chat a bit, just now we need to go!

So sorry about the pain and suffering that my cyberfriends endure.   It is so helpful to know that pray helps and that we all can pray for our friend's needs and concerns.  Sorry to hear about Scott, Trent and Keith's kitty.

And thank you all for the birthday greetings.  I had a busy two-day celebration for my birthday.  Lots of hugs and surprises.

Today I went with the senior church group out to eat for lunch.  I found out SAM means Senior Adult Ministry.  Someone mentioned that Seniors are adults. ::)  But we are SAM's.  I used to go with Mom to this group so I have attended for many years.

I am now doing laundry.

Tomorrow is Red Hats and we are going to an outlet mall about 2 hours away.  Tiring but fun.

This has been a full, busy, but I think profitable day.  Darrel and I worked for about two hours on sponsoring tasks.  I went to the care home and spent some time with Beth, then went to the ladies' tea with Mom so I could do her little craft project.  Back to Beth's room for a while, prayed with her; went and talked to her nurse, got a few suggestions on things that might [prove helpful to Beth in the future.

Then I went to weight watchers, down 1.8 this week, which was disappointing, because I hoped I'd done better.  But at least it's a loss, right?

Now it's time for some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.

:)   Good Morning to all.  I have been busy again as we have had things to do to help my daughter as she is trying to find a job.  Her maternity leave is almost finished and she needs a job. So we have gone over to baby sit so she can go out and also spend time on the computer.  Also one of our bridal party died very suddenly last Wednesday and that was a real shock to many of us including his family. He was married twice and both the families were there at the funeral and it made things awkward but the most wonderful thing is that we found out that he had rededicated hi life to Christ.  It has been hard as he and I had been renewing our friendship in the last couple of years and he had only told me once that he had gone to a Christian business mens meeting. It is good to know that he is now in heaven. Praise his name for answered prayer

I have read through a lot of the post's and there is so much going on in so many of the lives of our C.P. brothers and sister's and we all need to pray for each other so much.

Etta Sue.  Happy belated birthday and may the Lord give you many more. <3

Colin:  Thanks for your last poems the are great.  How are things in that beautiful country

Larry:  I hope that you and Pat are looking after yourself do take it easy and let  the Lord lead in when and what you should do.  God bless. :coffee:

Al:  Do you know  where these people are going to take over the ministry  that you mentioned in one of your postings and what is the name of the church.  I have friends that had to leave a church in those beautiful islands so if you can find out let me know. Thanks.

Pat: I am so sorry to here about Paul's brother if you have not left yet and you read this please be careful on the way down.  I did get to talk to Grace and we had a lovely conversation and brought back a lot of memories she sent me the funeral bulliten which was excellent. Say hi to Paul God bless Big sis Luv ya.

Judy B.  Hi how are things. I missed what you posted re John and his job or his trucking company so if you get time send me an email. How are the girls doing and say hi to Heather.  God Bless sis.  Gord. <3

Well to all other on C.P. I hope that your week goes better thanwhat last week was for some of you and always remember that the Lord has told us to lay all our problems at his feet and in his time he wiil answer our prayers and again I and my wife Noreen continue to ask you to keep us in your prayers to do with our medical problems mostly Noreen's back and some kind of answers from our Government medical insurance known as  O.H.I.P.  God bless and good day.  Gord and Noreen. <3

Larry:  Sending my prayers to you and Pat as well as your son Scott.  Take care of yourselves.

Melody:  How neat - a poem with your name on it.

Liz:  We had to pay for our Shingles shots too.  A good friend told us to get the shot even if we had to beg, borrow or steal to pay for it.  We nearly did.  I could see us having that come on when far away from a hospital or doctor or traveling.

Janet:  Suggestions for Beth from her nurse - that sounds good.

Gord:  I just saw you are posting now - my best to you and Noreen.  So sorry about her back problems and you just lost a dear friend as well.  Peace be with you and Noreen.

Ruth Ann:  I am glad to learn that the family has peace and comfort of the Good News!

I found my paraffin wax hand dip thingy and brought it over to DIL as she is having wrist pain.  It may ease some pain.  Shampooed carpet again today in the basement area and we bought paint to work on the closet first then the room for my sewing.  My own sewing room & it will be so nice and clean - I am so looking forward to this quiet spot.

Good Morning everyone.  We have had our first frost.   As most of you kow I really don't like winter and all the cold....the first frost ushers in that.....Well God did give us both.

Had a good day yesterday.  A day off is always welcomed.  I did a lot of sorting and throwing.  If it hasn't been used out it went.

Pat drive safely, and know you are prayed for.

I have a lot to accomplish today so if there is time I will be back.

Can't stay long....have to leave in a little over a half hour and I am not ready yet.  I am not looking forward to this outting.  Lots of walking and I am not into Outlet Malls...give me WalMart!  But maybe something will call my name.  It is the fellowship that is important.

Then this evening I have to make a potato salad for the 60Chix tomorrow.  We are going to one of the classmates homes for lunch and helping by each of us bringing a salad.

Beautiful fall weather today.  Bright and sunny...only 52 degrees now but is to get to 75 degrees.  Great weather.  Everything is turning for fall.  That's what happens after my birthday...

Good Morning, Busy day ahead. I have pulled the car  around to the front door so the dogs can  go straight from the front door to the open car door for their trip to the groomer. Lots to do today.

My trip to the Chiropractor yesterday was a great success. My lower back was so far out than one leg was ¼" shorter than the other. Even one of the metacarpal in my right foot was out and was the cause of the toe cramping pain that caused me a sleepless night. I feel so much better and had a great workout this morning at Curves.

Willa had the stitches taken out of her eye yesterday so was able to go back to Curves today.

Gotta get busy.

Good morning!  Another cool and cloudy day here, guess we are getting remnants of those hurricanes.  No moisture falling, but a lot of it in the atmosphere.  It looks as if Darrel's brother will get lots more rain on their already saturated place, as they are only 60 miles from Brownsville.

Gord, nice to read your post today.  May God bless and keep you and Noreen.

No news here, just checking in to greet you all.

Just finished cleaning up after painting the big closet - it has taken almost a gallon of paint.  I told you it was big - and the paint is so thick.  Wonderful for coverage but we will have to buy another expensive gallon for the room itself as one gallon more isn't enough.  I did the cutting-in and Don is rolling.

Sipping coffee  :coffee: with cream.

Etta Sue:  We just get exhausted going to the super Wal-Mart here but parking is angle in the front area and I like that so much, easier to see if someone is behind.  We read that IKEA is coming to the Denver area - my favorite store.  It has all the words in Swedish under the English.  LOL - not seen in many places.

Another lovely day here on the island.  Hope it lasts into Oct. when the outside of the house is due to be painted.  That is, if the painter shows..... ::)

Went to the library this morning as my daughter had to have another treatment.  She is in so much pain.  All the stress from their business isn't helping.  The employee with a broken leg may not even be able to come back to work.  The man who was supposed to start full time work, phoned this morning and said that his wife didn't think he should take the job.  The woman, who was to be part-time, didn't show or phone....What a world!

About the vaccinations for Shingles, I can't get one even tho' willing to pay.  Must have a compromised immune system before it is allowed.  Now does that make sense?  Dr. said if it is caught within the first three days, then vac. if given.  That is not her rule, it is the Pharmacare rule.  Since I am going to be 76 this month, one would think my system if already compromised..... :ticked:

Time to go and do some work.  Hard to stay cheery these days, so much seems to be going wrong.  Envy those who have a church to go to for comfort.  Guess this is the next best thing.  Keep the nice poems coming, Colin.  They are appreciated.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone.

This is a joyous day in that our son is home from the hospital and doing well.  We spoke with him a little earlier this afternoon and he told us he plans on having the other stent put in week after next and is said he will definitely quit smoking and make other lifestyle changes.

It was very pleasant this morning in that we were able to go to our Bible study with the pastor this morning and then went with friends to Dunkin' Donut and I didn't have a donut, just a cup of coffee with raspberry flavoring.  There were 8 women and 5 men in the group and of course the men sat at one table and the ladies at another.  The ladies were having such a good time that the men could hardly hear themselves talk.  :)

Pat and I decided to eat our big meal of the day at the buffet we like.  I like it because of their nice salad bar and I can easily control what I eat.  We will go to the church about 6:30 this evening to continue the discussion of the book "The Shack" (which I finished reading last evening) and then I have choir practice.  So it will have been a full but enjoyable day.

Carol, that must really be a large closet.  It has been years since I was in an IKEA store.  There was one in the Washington, D.C. area when we lived there.  A couple of years ago they opened one is Atlanta but I haven't been to it and have no plans to do so as we don't need one more piece of furniture.

Marilyn, glad you found relief from the chiropractic treatment.  Pat went earlier this week and was commenting today about how much better her knee was feeling after he adjusted it.

Etta Sue, hope you enjoyed your trip to the mall with the Red Hatters.

Judy, hard to think it is time for frost.  It must have gotten into the high 80s here today but we are seeing signs of fall with some leaves beginning to fall.

Gord, hope your daughter doesn't have a difficult time finding a new job.  I know that is a stressful time for a person.

Janet, it sounds like you are doing great with your Weight Watchers program.  I think one of the big benefits of the program is making us aware of what we are eating and the quantities.  I have not been hungry one time and still have been able to lose weight.  I know we also reach plateau's where we won't see a loss for a given week.

Melody, thanks for your continued prayers and thanks to the rest of you.  I think these prayers have been answered and it is comforting to know that others are praying also.

Pat and Paul, you have been in my thoughts and prayers today.

Ruth Ann, I hope your journey was uneventful and that your knee held up well and the trip wasn't too tiring.

Liz, sorry to read of the continued trials your family and you are experiencing.  Sorry also to read that your doctors are not allowed to give the shingles shot as a preventative.  You would think people would jump at the opportunity for employment rather than take the attitudes we seem to be seeing in the workplace today.

Liz, sorry you couldn't get the shingles shot.  Darrel and I have decided not to even get the flu shot this year.  Dr. Blaylock says they cause many more problems than what they help.  We could change our minds, but I don't think so.  I did get the pneumonia shot about three years ago, supposed to last for at least 10 years.  I have had pneumonia twice; not fun. I hope your kids find reliable help soon and that the painters show up on schedule.

Tomorrow I will go to eat lunch with my Youth Friends for the first time this school term.  So I need to find something for them to do.

Larry, what great news!  I rejoice with you that your son is home from the hospital and will be making the changes needed to improve his health.

Carol, you two are really working hard!  How much longer before you get things all spiffied up to your specifications?  ;)  Bet it will be a real showplace!

I'm going to shut down here and watch the prophecy programs I enjoy on Wed. night.

:)  Good evening to all. Had a very busy day today as I had to go and help my daughter to go to different places to do with finding a new job. She is about to finish her pregnancy leave and she has to go back to work.   The job that she had is just to far  her to continue to go to. The day started out before 8-00a.m. and my wife and I finally got home just past 6-30 so we had supper and then went and watched some t.v.  So its time to go to sleep as we have to baby sit again tomorrow and I have to be at the food bank by 9-00a.m. so good night to all.

Hi everyone.  I am up and awaiting time to go to coffee so decided to go ahead and post for today.  This will be another busy day as we have to take our daughter to Grady Hospital for an appointment with her cardiologist this afternoon.  We will get down to her apartment early so we can take her to the grocery store.  She can ride the electric cart in the store and do her own shopping.  Then I will take her to Grady while her mother does her laundry at the apartments.  They have a large laundry room with many machines and dryers available.  Stacey checked and if I have her Grady card in hand and ID of my own I will be able to pick up her medication refills that she has called in while she waits to see the doctor.  Hopefully that will speed up the process and we can get her home before 4 pm so we can get on the road back to our house.

Janet, I read yesterday that you are going to have to have a doctors prescription in order to get the flu shot this fall and that it is to be limited to people with weakened immune systems or at risk persons.  I am pretty certain my doctor will want me to have it because of my weak heart.  Pat hasn't taken a flu shot for years. Hope you have a great time with your young friend at her school.

Gord, these daughters keep us busy don't they?  :)  I know you enjoy the time you get to spend your grandchild.  Just hope it isn't too much on your wife (or you) to do this two days in a row.

Hope everyone has a joyous day.  We need to keep the folks along the Gulf Coast who are now fleeing the impending hurricane in our prayers.  I can't even imagine the turmoil this brings into lives in having to leave your home knowing it might not even be there when you are able to return or if it is may be severely damaged.

Larry - so glad your son is ok for now.  Hope the stent implantation goes well and corrects the problem.  i also hope Stacey's situation goes easier and more successfully.

I have to go pour out my money today!  4 new tires (or used ones if they have them).  Ouch!

I certainly pray that God's people will be protected from the approaching hurricane and that they will be able to testify to our Lord in all the situation.

I just about dropped shopping yesterday.  I really didn't find anything that called my name at the Outlet Mall...just walked a lot and going into stores looked for a lapdesk for my laptop.

We left the mall and were going to a Pottery Barn and next to it was an Office Max.  The driver drove there and we went in while the others stayed in the van.  I found a lapdesk.  Works great with a non-skid top and a micro filled pillow below.  Light weight also.

Then to the Pottery Barn and still I didn't purchase anything there.  We left at 9:30am and didn't get back home until after 6:30pm.  I did get two hotpads crocheted while in the van going and coming.  I am crocheting hotpads for our church funeral dinners.

Today is 60 Chix.  Different today.  Instead of going to a restaurant to eat, we are going to a classmates home and each of us is to bring a salad.  Kitty and Alfa are coming here and riding with me to Margaret's.

Remembering 9-11.  It still seems like it could not have happened.

Don is taking the car to a wash & cleaning the inside.  I must do a little baking although it irks me to no end that the last five pounds I sweated away has come back  - and we walk an hour every day.  Using zuchinni to make a cake that will be added to the groceries for our annual family gathering.

Liz:  It is my belief that people who had chicken pox are more prone to catch shingles.  A dormant virus in our system.  Wonder what else is dormant?  Isn't that creepy?

Larry:  We are spreading out the work so it isn't too terrible.  Forcing ourselves to continue opening boxes and it is looking better.  It sounds like you have a system going - Pat can do the laundry at the same time you care for Stacey and it would be terrific if you could also pick up her meds.  As for your son - tell him that the lungs begin healing quite quickly.  Be strong.

Janet:  The young friends group is really interesting.  So many times they are ignored by us oldies - we try to cheer on the young ones when they are walking to school & sometimes get a blank stare but most are really nice.  It is tough to be young these days.

We are trying to get a normal life here with finding a new church home, meeting more people and on with our hobbies.  Don has his workroom almost ready and I am chomping at the bit to get the sewing area painted and carpet cleaned.  A welcome lady came over yesterday and told us about all the volunteer things we could do in this area - sure - we are going to take it easy in that regard as we want to find the right thing to help with after all.

Larry:  This closet is double the normal size and it is almost the size of what a bedroom we had for the babies in our first house, where only a crib and rocker fit in there.  cozy.  It is the only closet on the entire basement floor so everything will go in there.

Take care, see you next week.

Eric, happy birthday. I hope it has been a great one and that the new year will be good to you.

I listened to a man who was on the 81st floor of the second tower and he was on the phone when he glanced out the window and saw the airplane coming straight at him. He shouted a prayer, dropped the phone, and jumped under his desk. The wing itself provided a means for him to slide out of the rubble and into an area where a man with a flashlight appeared to guide himself and this guy to the stairs, etc. What a MOVING descripion. He was on Dr. Dobson's radio program, Focus on the Family. You may wish to go online and see if you can hear it through a link on the website. You will definitely be compelled to listen to his story from end to end.

I was driving back to Nashville from Trent's funeral when I was able to tune in to a station that carried that Dr. Dobson broadcast.

The funeral was well done and coming to both visitations as well as the service itself were more than 400 people.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Ruth Ann, I also caught part of that program on Focus on the Family today.  Very compelling!  Glad you are home safe.

Boy, Sarah Palin is finding out how downright cruel and nasty the media can be, isn't she?  I pray for her every day, that she stands true and tough under the onslaughts of the enemy.  What a woman!

I did it!!  I SWAM A WHOLE MILE THIS MORNING!!!  :) ;)  Go me!!  And I wasn't all that tired, either.  After running on the treadmill yesterday (intervals) I felt that I had pulled a muscle in my leg, but just went on about my day, and it feel all right today.  I'm so thankful for that.

Our big Home Products Dinner is coming up next Tuesday evening.  This is a big deal here--everything served at the dinner is grown right here in Grant County.  Lots of work, many organizations pitch in to help; picking, shucking, and cutting the corn off the cobs, picking strawberries and making jam, etc., etc.  You get the picture.  The dinner is attended by upwards of 2500 people.  I will go early so I can pick Beth up and take her.  She always enjoys it so much.

It really made my heart smile when my two youth friends saw me at school, smiled huge smiles, and hurried over to give me hugs.  It's a rewarding thing to do, and only takes an hour a week to make a difference in the life of a child.

Last week, an 11 year old boy here in town took his mom's car, which they had for only two months, at 12:00 at night, picked up an 11 year old friend and went joy riding!!  The cops were chasing them (stupid in my opinion) and got to speeds of 100 mph.  Of course the little boy lost control, and rolled the car multiple times.  The amazing thing is, both boys had on their seat belts, and neither was seriously injured!!  They must have praying parents or grandparents, or God has something special for them to accomplish with their lives!

I want to listen to the Presidential Forum, see you later!

Hi everyone.  I am awaiting for my neighbor to pick me up to go to the senior center for the Friday men's coffee.

We had another long day yesterday and a typical one at Grady Hospital.  I won't go into details and it worked out but this always involves long periods of time.  Guess I have I to be somewhere.  :)  We left at 10 am and returned home about 7:30, but did stop at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

Today begins the fall session of SeniorNet Computer Learning Center meetings and the PC user group meeting.  I am also gathering things to give to the Atlanta Mission, who will be by tomorrow to do a pickup.  I am getting rid of my old CRT monitors and some other items.

Good morning from Oregon I arrived safely and a foggy trip up the coast, There was more fog than sun  for the first 150 miles ad lonng as  was right next to the ocean the fog was  such that I could see some. I finally got out of the fog north of Port Orford which  is about 56 miles from my destination. All in all  it was pretty tense at times especially when some  car would get on my rear bumper and stay there when there was no way he could pass me when I was going the speed limit. I would rather be safe than an idiot .

Good Morning everyone.

The weather is overcast and there is a threat of rain.  THe cloud cover made for a warmer night.  That is a good thing.

John got home last night.  when I go to bed Cimi usually sleeps beside me.  Well wouldn't you know, last night she took exception to John being home and crawled inbetween us.  She thinks she is the only one who deservs that spot during the week! This is never a problem on the weekend, she stays either beside me or at my feet.

This has been a tiring week.  We have had classes every night, and home at 10 is a little late on a consistent basis.  Oh well next week will be better.

Well must go, I need to eat my lunch and then get back to work.

God Bless

:)  Good afternoon to all.   This has been a very busy week as I already told you that I have been trying to help my daughter to get a new job and also be her  taxi driver. Well she did get some calls for second interviews and she accepted one and she got the job but it is not what she wants.  The job that she gave up was in the supervisory position and also very good money and where we live you cannot make the same money.  So she has to start at the bottom again but with her qualifications I am sure that she can move up the ladder if the positions open up so please pray for Stephanie that the Lord will help her when she starts in Oct.1st.  It will be also be so hard to have to leave her baby which she is so attached to. <3

Carol:  It is very hard to get adjusted to a new place and all the other places that go with it when you move.  We found it very hard and we moved almost 3ys. ago and we are finally feeling that we are comfortable at church.

Larry:  Hope that all is going better with your kids it sure has been a battle.  Have a wonderful weekend.

To everyone else on C.P.  have a wonderful weekend and keep giving all your prayer needs to the Lord and his time he will answer if it is his will. God Bless.  Gord and Noreen :coffee:

Good evening, friends,

I've battled a headache all day, so took something to ease the pain and spent part of the afternoon in bed with something over my eyes to help block the light.

It's a bit better, but to be safe, I think I'll sign off until tomorrow afternoon.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

I am late but it has been a busy fulfilling day.  Kitty took me to a town about 40 miles away for my birthday lunch.  We both had half a rack of ribs, potato salad, apple salad and Texas toast.  We went back to her house and I helped her with her new toy...something to put VHS on DVD.  They have a camcorder and she was putting a St. Louis vacation on DVD.  Neat.

Then she brought me home and Ivalou and I took our baked items to church.  The church is having a bake sale at the Farmer's Market in Noblesville tomorrow morning.  Last year they made over $700.

Then Ivalou and I went to Bob Evans for dinner...I got a salad there.  So I am stuffed and filled.

Hi everyone.  I have been watching a bit of the hurricane news from the coast.  What a terrible mess and now people, who ignored the warning to evacuate are calling for rescue.  They said millions of people are without power.  This is a huge storm.

We also saw huge price increases in gas yesterday and the afternoon before.  I have a friend who owns a fuel distribution company and he said they have been on an allocation system, allowing them to get only a reduced amount of gas that they normally would.  Our son told us they were having stations running out of gas in Augusta.  Both of my cars are basically full of gas so I will be fine for awhile.

When I got home yesterday from my meetings my wife said my son had called and then I spoke to him from the doctor's office later.  He was on his way back into the hospital as was having problems yesterday and the cardiologist decided they needed to go ahead and put in the second stent today.  I have no idea what time it will be done but probably sometime this morning.  He was going to have to have this done in a few days so will speed up the process and there is a possibility the other one that was put in Tuesday could have blocked but I am sure they will check that out today.

Sarah, you are going to be old before your time with that schedule.  Sure hope you find some time in your schedule to do some fun things for Sarah.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you ate well yesterday.  I sure wish they had a Bob Evans close to us as I really like eating there.

Ruth Ann, hope the headache is gone today.  It has now been years since I have suffered with a migraine but I still remember that they are miserable.

Gord, glad to read your daughter found employment even though it was not what she would have liked.  She sounds like a very capable person and I hope she has opportunity for advancement.

Hi Samantha and Janet.

Marilyn, it sounds like a not very pleasant drive north for you.  Glad you made it safely.  I hate tail-gaters also.

Judy, animals can become very possessive.  Glad John was able to get home and that your long days at your work will not be continuing this week.

It was cloudy, now sunny.  It is overcast.  We are suppose to have thunderstorms sometime today.  But the best part is I don't have to get out in it.  I have no where I have to go today!!!!  Hurray!!!  I think I am tuckered out from going!!!  Busy, busy week!

Not much to say since I posted last evening.  I just hope and pray that everyone has a blessed day today and all your prayers are answered.  God Bless You All.

The Wheathearts Chapter of the Decorative Painting Society invited my chapter, Western Kansas Prairie Painters to their painting party today.  It was in Hutchinson, Ks. (about 3 1/2 hours from here.)  My friend Winona invited me to come to her house and spend the night, which I did, saving me about 30 miles (and 30 minutes).  Even so, we got up at 4:15 this morning to go.  We met two other members about an hour and 40 minutes from Winona's and traveled together from there.  It was a fun meeting, with several different projects being taught by several different teachers, and we each got to do every project.  They also held a raffle, and I won one prize.  Then they had a whole table full of painted items which we played a game for, and I won three of them!  There were so many that everyone got one, two or three items.

They served us a lovely chef salad for lunch, had also offered us tickets to the State Fair, but the other gals didn't want to stay and do that  :( so we came on home.  It was a long day, but lots of fun, and I hadn't gotten to go to any of our meeting in several months, so it was good to see my friends again.

Well........the Florida trip, which I thought was off, is back on again.  I will be going with Abby and her parents.  This means that I will be home exactly three days total in the month of October!!  We have a European trip, and I also have a week long painting class.  So I hope my stamina holds out!!

Larry, I hope your son's stent did not plug and the other is installed successfully.  Prayers continue.

Etta Sue, you do get to go eat out a lot, and it all sounds so good!!  I can't do that until I lose quite a few more pounds, which I am finding harder than I expected.

Sarah, for Pete's sake, SLOW DOWN!  Don't burn out before you are 25!  Hope all is going well with you.

See you good folks later.

I had a lovely relaxing day yesterday.  I got caught up online and then watch TV until I was caught up with my recorded shows.  All this with about a half a dozen power naps.  Inky and I did take a nap in the afternoon.  She never lays on my lap but when I cover with an afghan, here she comes.  So we both reclined and napped.

In the late afternoon, I went out for the mail and noticed my yard needed mowing.  I came in and changed clothes.  When I went back outside, Ivalou had her shed door open and was going to mow also.  So both of our yards are mowed once again and I even did some weed eating as well.

Then it was back in the house.  I showered and then popped some popcorn and settled in to watch some more TV.  I kept nodding off and finally decided to go to bed.  I slept great until about 15 minutes before the alarm was to go off.  So I got up.  Now I am ready for Ivalou to blow the horn for me and to go to church.

Overcast day in Indiana with showers this afternoon.  Tailwinds of Hurricane Ike.  I can't get over how fallish it is looking out!!

Hi everyone.  We will head to church in about an hour.

It turns out that our son didn't have the stent put in yesterday.  When he got to the cath lab, and after they had given him the numbing shot, the doctor questioned the blood test results which showed a low number and postponed doing any further work thinking there is probably internal bleeding occurring.  So he was to see a specialist and probably have and endoscopy or colonoscopy or both before anything else was done on the heart. When we talked with our son last evening he said they was apparently a problem with the the first blood test, which apparently were the results the doctor was seeing, and he has had two more tests that are basically normal.  So now he doubts the additional testing will be needed but still hasn't seen the specialist and perhaps tomorrow they will put in the other stent.  The doctor told him the first stent was fine but I wonder how he could know that with the cath.  Oh well, guess time will tell.

Janet, you are going to have one busy month but it should be a great change of pace for you after the hectic summer you have had.  Glad you had such a nice time with your painting group and it sure sounds like you had a super fun day.

Melody, I am sure your prayer will be fine if you just speak from your heart to God.  Enjoy the wedding.

Etta Sue, I remember when I used to mow my lawn it was always so good to have the job done.

Thanks on Jeannine's behalf. The longer I don't hear from Jeannine the more worried I get cos she would ring me instantly if Michael was ok. Thanks again for praying.

I join my prayers with everyone else for Michael, his parents, and his medical caregivers. May God strengthen and provide wisdom, healing, and comfort as only He can do.

I am sorry to say that Jeannine has called me to say that God has called Michael home. I know most of you know about Michael and I did get the chance to talk to him once or twice. He was a beautiful boy and my heart is now aching for Jeannine and her husband Frank. Please keep praying for them. Thank you

Oh Father, I pray You'll be ever so close to Jeannine and Frank just now.  I pray You'll somehow give them to know that Your purposes are perfect and that all tears will one day be wiped away in the first-hand knowledge of the God Who does all things well.  Oh Father, I pray You'll manifest Your presence to them through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I am also praying for Jeannine and frank How sorry I am to hear of their loss.

I am home from my trip north, we had a busy weekend. We DID go get Keith a new kitty. He is 5 months old and we named him Fritzy, he seems to like me the best but now that I am back home he can bond with Keith. He is a rescue from the shelter and cost us $75, but has had all his shots and is neutered.

The shelter had  some kitties on display in the mall, and we were told at one of the pet shops that they would be there  so we went to the mall and the rest is history. We bombed the house with bug foggers before we left to go shopping , To make sure there were no fleas in the house. Then we had to kill four hours.
So first we when to his office and  picked some blackberries  out by the fence along the driveway, went to the $$ store to get some trash bags, went back to the office and picked up leaves from where his son had trimmed the hedge.

Then we went to the  pets shops and on to the Mall and got the cat, back to the office to kill more time, after 3 hours we went back to the house and put the cat in the garage in his crate, we had the crate in the car in anticipation of getting a new cat.

The man across the street had invited us over for the birthday party of his 93 yr old aunt so we went across the street for a little while, back to air out the house. I took  a lot of photos, I still have to upload them to my computer and will get some posted.

Jeannine, my heart aches for your terrible loss.  May Jesus hold you close in His loving arms and give you strength during this difficult time.

I worked today for my sister who is having problems with her knee.

Colin, thank you for letting us know.
