JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi everyone.  A pretty quiet day.  This afternoon I went with Pat to return some socks at a specialty shoe store and then to the grocery store.

Etta Sue, glad you made it through Atlanta safely.  Good thing you were going through today and not tomorrow as the weather is suppose to not be very nice tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Marlo, thanks for that very nice postings and telling us of your special relationship with your FIL.  I don't think I ever heard of anyone having to be on dialysis for 20 hours a day.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you were very busy today.  Hope you had a great time.

Betty, you should have a lot of fun with the iPad and iPhone and sure you will see a lot of commonality with those two devices and the iPod Touches you are dealing with.  I have decided to get the iPad 3 when it comes out and am looking forward to it being announced in a few days.

Marilyn, you have certainly been busy with your webpage.

Janet

Hi, guys!  It's been a long and busy day here.  I was awake at 2 AM and couldn't get back to sleep; finally got up at 4:30, and my sister got up just a few minutes later.  She has already gone to bed, and I am heading that way myself as soon as I finish this.

We left pretty early to drive to Garden for Darrel's eye surgery.  It went well.  Shirley went with us and was allowed to watch the surgery with me.  We ate at Golden Corral, then did a couple of errands before going back to the clinic to have Darrel's eye pressure checked.  Perfect, they said, so we came on home.

My younger sister came out with her two little granddaughters and her dog, and we all went out and walked four miles.  Pretty well wore out the kids, the dogs, the grandmas, too!

Then we sat down and planned a family reunion for May.  Beth had been calling, so we (shirley, JoAnne and I) went in to see her.  Back home, ate supper, doing this, then........that's all, folks!

I won't make individual comments this evening, but I will pray for each of you!  :thumbsup:

Truly, it was a great day. Now, to rest in the secure knowlege of our Lord's everlasting love both day and night.

G'nite, friends,

Carol

It is later than I thought, just looked at the clock.  We have had visitors and usually a couple of days between - Don's cousin & wife are staying for five days but not at our place.  We have taken them around and walked through an art show today outdoors plus showed them where to shop for produce.  Whew - both of us had to take naps upon returning.  Next week, my cousin arrives.  I think we have to go home to rest.  So grateful that everyone doesn't come at once and we have strength to visit.

Alright Al!  Super news - the 24th.  You are almost there.

Marlo:  It sounds like a lot of pills.  Prayers for your healing and less medications.

I don't know how these artists make any income - they are on the streets & their pricing is much too dear for the average person.  Some people were buying jewelry but that is not appealing to me at all and at those prices, I will keep what mom had in her little box and my old favorites.

This is interesting.  Don's cousin & wife are Catholics but they want to come to church with us this Sunday.  We have been having some wonderful discussions as he wants to talk about his study of Paul.

Hi everyone.  We are expecting some heavy rain later today but this morning is just overcast.  Had a quiet day yesterday as planned but did go with Pat to return some socks to a specialty shoe store and then to the grocery store.  Nothing special planned for today.  I am just home from coffee at McDonald's and there were only three of us there today.

Janet, Pat finished your book yesterday and thought it was very good.  Wow, a four mile walk is a long ways.  Glad you were able to be with your two sisters.  Glad Darrel's eye surgery is now behind him.

Ruth Ann, nice to see you had a great day.  Those are indeed blessings.

Carol, nice to have relatives visit but not have the responsibilty of hosting them 24/7 for the time they are there.  Nice that they want to attend church with you all.

Carol

Larry:  Too bad that heavy rain could not have been a heavy snow in the mountains here - they are really below average this year.  No one snowmobiling so that economy is down in the pits.  Yes, this is easier especially since they are here for five days.  We really do not know them that well but they are so enjoyable that this has been a fun time.  His cousin is almost totally retired.

We always say there are angels surrounding us and it was proved yesterday.  We were walking in the art fair, which is closed off on the street with no food around, and Don began to feel like he needed something to eat.  I usually carry a bar and he should have something as well so I asked a young man if he knew where I could get something for Don (as he is diabetic).  The sweet young man went to the back of his kiosk and found an energy bar and wouldn't take any money for it.  Such a nice gesture.  Just thought you might like another piece of good news today.

Jeanne Lee

Carol, great that you were led to that particular young man - surely an angel sent by the Father.   :thumbsup:

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
(Click to hear music)

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

Words: Charles Wesley
Music: "Beecher," John Zundel

Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down;
Fix in us thy humble dwelling;
All thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation;
Enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit,
Into every troubled breast!
Let us all in Thee inherit;
Let us find that second rest.
Take away our bent to sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its Beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all Thy life receive;
Suddenly return and never,
Never more Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
Pray and praise Thee without ceasing,
Glory in Thy perfect love.

Finish, then, Thy new creation;
Pure and spotless let us be.
Let us see Thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in Thee;
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Janet

Carol, thank you for sharing the blessing of the young man who gave Don the energy bar.  Another reason to praise our always loving God, who knows our needs even before we do!  :thumbsup:

Larry, my sister, neice and I walked another four miles this morning, early!  And it was cold!  But so nice to be able to spend that time with them.  We had a good visit.  Then when we got home, Darrel had oatmeal ready for our breakfast, and my niece JoAnne  did my hair for me before they left.  Their visit blessed me!

Today at 11:30 I went to a ladies' meeting at the Celebration Baptist Church here in town.  They were having a noon luncheon and my friend Patty was speaking.  I have heard her story several times, but she is a good friend, and has been such an encouragement to me with my book that I like to support her every chance I have.  God blessed me by having the lady in charge of the meeting, who works in our chiropractor's office, stand up and speak a little about my book!  And later I sold four books!  What an unexpected blessing.  God is SO GOOD!

Then I came home to put drops in Darrel's eye, picked up the cards I had for my friend Pat, and went to visit Beth and read to her.  Then by Pat's to deliver her Valentines from our scrapbooking group and visit with her a bit----and now back home!  I must get my stuff together for the portrait class which starts on Monday!  Yikes!!

What good news I read here today!

Oh, Janet, I meant to respond that when I had my cataract surgeries it took me about 8-10 months before I coud safely drive at night. So Darrel has plenty of potential to regain that ability after a while. :)

So nice to learn about the nice young man who shared his bar with y'all, Carol. Do you know about the glucose tablets that he can use to bring up his blood sugar? I get a large bottle at WalMart, then put some into either a small prescription bottle or use one of my old "tube" shaped glucose tablet holders. I carry these at all times in my purse. It's been a while since I needed them, but I believe it's 3 of the little pure glucose tablets to equal 15 grams of sugar, normally what I need to bring up my b/s levels. The tubes are fairly expensive, given that I can get quite a number at WalMart and then just refresh my supply when needed.

Certainly hope Pat's week will be a good one, that Etta Sue and Ivalou got home safely, and that all the rest of us here have an evening filled with God's refreshment and blessings for the soul and body.

Well, must go - I need to decide whether it's going to laundry night or sit down and rest night. ;) Wonder which will win THAT battle!  ::)

Y'all have a great evening.

Etta Sue it was good fun following your trip!  Glad you are home safely!

JudyB

Janet and Carol If is good to have people visit. But always glad to have the house back to yourself.  Glad you enjoyed the time with guests.

Betty where is your Dad's surgery?  I can come to North Bay if you are there.

Ruth praying for you and your aunt.

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol

I need to sleep fast tonight.

Ruth Ann:  No, I have not heard of those tablets and will look for them the very next Walmart visit.  Again and again, I thank you for your advice.  Now, if I can only get Don to remember to carry something in his pocket.  I usually carry a bar for him in the purse but that one was not replaced so that is my fault as well.  We do well on keeping a container in the vehicle though.  We need to talk to his doctor next visit about why his symptoms bother him so fast.

JudyB:  Yes, we do love our friends and relatives and love catching up on everyone's lives.  I always go through an exhaustion period first and then my brain hopefully catches up for our normal life.   There are days I have to ask "What day is this?".

We drove out to Cave Creek and watched an Indian Festival with colorful dancing & lots of drums.  Ate the fried bread that is yummy and stopped for a coffee on the way back.  Gasoline is now $3.69 and I wonder just where this will go?

Janet

Carol, the last prediction on gasoline prices I heard was that it will hit $7.00 per gallon.  But who knows, really?  Only God.  I think the manipulation of gas prices is pure politics, just my opinion, of course.  All I know is that if we continue to live for Him, God will take care of us.  "I have been young and now I am old, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread."  What on earth do people have to cling to, if they don't know our Lord?

I have added to the blog on my website about Beth, if you are interested.  www.JanetDamon.com

It is cold and windy here this morning. Br-r-r-r-r!  That makes it so much harder to get Beth out and take her to church, but she wants to go.  We are having a business meeting following the morning service, so it will probably be long.............

Etta Sue, thank you for sharing your trip with us.  I enjoyed it!  :)

This afternoon I HAVE to get ready for my painting class!!  HAVE TO!!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Etta Sue

Gas prices on my trip was anywhere from $3.65.9 to $3.83.9.  The highest being in northern Florida...of course, where I had to fill up!

I was cool in my house last night.  I will have to get used to it.  Only 23 degrees this a.m.

I am ready for church.  Can't decide if I am staying for Sunday School and going out to eat or not.  Too much to do and tonight is Small Groups.  But what I have to do can wait...

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have had a rainy but not stormy night here in Georgia and it continues to rain this moning.  It is still warm.  Today we will attend church I am sure we will eat out after church and that will be the major activities of the day.

Carol, there are many fine people in this world.  Too bad the ones who aren't get the attention.

Janet, glad you had such a good time with your family and that your book sales continue.

Etta Sue, glad to see you are safely home after a good trip.

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, I'm so glad to see that you're home safe and sound.   :thumbsup:

Carol, often the only way I can discover what day of the week it is, is by checking my pill-minder!   ;D
