Morning Devotional...

Is God really in charge today?

Lord, in the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. Even they will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. You will roll them up like an old coat. They will fade away like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will never grow old.

Hebrews 1:10-12 NLT
Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the Lord rescue you. The Egyptians that you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. You won't have to lift a finger in your defense!"
Exodus 14:13-14 NLT

Wars, starvation, disease, natural disasters — when we see all the pain in the world, it is easy to wonder if God is really in control. This passage assures us that however unpredictable, fearsome, and seemingly out of control the world is, Christ is Lord and King of all. Although we fully understand how he exercises his authority over daily events, we can trust fully that eternity is his and that we, adopted children of God, will exist in eternity long after the present trials are over.

A Shelter In the Time of Storm
(Click to hear music)

You have been a shelter from the storm.
Isaiah 25:4

Words: Vernon J. Charlesworth, circa 1880.

Music: Ira D. Sankey, circa 1885

The Lord's our Rock, in Him we hide,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
Secure whatever ill betide,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A weary land, a weary land;
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defense by night,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
No fears alarm, no foes afright,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

The raging storms may round us beat,
A Shelter in the time of storm
We'll never leave our safe retreat,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

O Rock divine, O Refuge dear,
A Shelter in the time of storm;
Be Thou our Helper ever near,
A Shelter in the time of storm.

Refrain

Barb has a hematoma and was given anti-biotics...the kind you don't stop taking abruptly...you have to wean off of them.  Her arm looks much better today.

We played cards last night with two other couples...from Noblesville and Lapel.  Nice visit with all of them, too.

We all went to the Methodist Church this morning.  No sermon.  That seemed different.  Since Valentine's Day is this week, at every chair was a paper Valentine...red, white or pink...and a crayon.  Later we were to write on God's Valentine and then we pinned it on a big Valentine Card (board).

Then us 8 people went to a cafe for breakfast...first time for many years that coffee was 25¢.  And refills were 25¢.  So my coffee was 50¢.  Great breakfast.

We are in for the day, I think.  Barb is going to cook tonight.  And it was cold this morning...38°!! And windy!  So not a day to get out and run around.

At church Kaye Don pointed out an eagle's nest and the eagle was sitting on a limb.  I got a picture with my Droid camera!

Carol

On sleeplessness:  I kept quiet when my sweet cousin told me that he was having trouble sleeping.  For years, he would tell me that he never had any problem and always "let the Lord take the load".    Yes, I believe in that but his telling me always made me wonder why I had difficult nights - I thought I didn't pray the right prayer or something was wrong.  It can happen to anyone and I believe it is because our brains are so active at times and that is nothing we can control.  So - at those wide-awake times, I sometimes get up and make lists of different things to do, read a book or knit for a while. Sometimes, a good idea comes in the quiet and there is a reason for this but the next day can be a bummer as far as being tired.  It does always work out though.

Washing clothes and cleaning on a Sunday - Don's cousin & wife are stopping by & we are not sure when they will call this week.  Mother never let us work on a Sunday  - I can feel her watching.  I should say that it was a rare Sunday when we did any work.

Larry:  Happy Birthday to you!  I agree on background noise in that we don't need to be entertained - we just want to talk and enjoy the quiet.

Ruth

About the sleepless nights I have many of them but when I wake up all I have is stress headache which I know is the dreaming but who or what I have no clue. My question how can you pray when you have no clue what the issue is?     There have been times when I do feel that it is Satan trying to make life difficult.

Dinner this evening is going to be roast chicken along with the trimmings.  Guests are welcome.

Yesterday we had snow, last evening we were gifted with much more in fact enough that Mel chose to use the snow blower.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet

Roast chicken? MMMMM!  I'll be over about 5:30, Ruth!  ;)

I think you all know I also have many sleepless nights.  I do pray, and try to rein in my straying thoughts, try to stop thinking of all those myriad things to do, etc.  Sometimes I can fall asleep, but usually not.  If I get up and make lists, do some things like paying bills, getting my mind organized for the next day, etc., sometimes I feel sleepy again and can go back to bed and sleep.  I think, just from reading the experiences of many of us here, that it becomes a much more common problem as we.....uh......mature!  ;)  I do wish us all sound sleeping!

Carol, I always feel guilty for working on Sundays, too.  Usually I try to  justify it by thinking, "Well, I did go to church this morning!"  But I don't suppose God is impressed by that!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LARRY

And may you have many more---at least as many as allowed before the Lord callus us all home!  Glad you had a good trip to Atlanta and a good visit with Stacey.

And speaking of sleeping, I am about to fall asleep on my keyboard, think I will go to my recliner and give in to the drowsiness............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, Yes, I agree - it very well could be that we "mature" folk have something in common in trying to get a good night's sleep. And, of course, with the world around us going at top speed, possibly our minds are frustrated by an inability to be as agile and energetic as we once were.

At any rate, I think it may be time to collect some valentines from grandchildren, so if I'm away for a coujple of days, y'all will know why. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Larry!

Love to everyone.

Happy Birthday Larry

I sure don't have as many sleepless night as I use too before I  got my CPAP machine. Oh and the horrible headaches  I had then. I still have a sleepless night now and then. If I am not using my machine I can really saw the logs, I wake myself up at times.

Marilyn, my husband had a lot of bad headaches before getting his CPAP machine too ... And I had the sleepless nights from him not breathing right and snoring so much.

It's better now, but the odd time I still end up with a sleepless night. If the Lord doesn't put someone directly on my mind to pray for, I start going through the alphabet and praying for everyone whose name starts with that initial. That doesn't always put me back to sleep, but at least I have a focus for my prayers.

Judy, thank you for the devotional. It's good to remind ourselves that God is in control.
Betty

Enjoying God's handiwork!

Janet

Since posting on here, I had a nice nap!  :)  Darrel and I attended a nice Valentine's dance last night in Hugoton and were up much later than is usual for us, so now I'm caught up on those Zzzs again!  ;)

And tonight we are going to the Valentine's banquet the young people of our church are putting on for us.  It is almost time to go get dressed up for that!  It is a fund raiser for them, and they have done them before.  We had a good time when we attended before.

It is very cold here in Kansas today.  I just looked out the front door and window, and they  are covered with ice!  Looks like obscure glass!  I do hope the highways aren't the same.

Darrel just appeared all slicked up and looking sharp!  I'd better get going!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Carol

Just finished talking with two of the children & it is always so good to stay in touch and hear their voices.

Janet:  It looks like ice tomorrow at our home too.  I was in the computer looking up the story on the woman news anchor who was bitten in the face by a huge dog - on camera.  She is recovering in Denver.  I hope your roads are OK for your drive to the banquet.

We are trying to stay up later each night just to sleep better.  It seems to work.

Janet

The roads aren't icy, not yet, anyway.  I drove tonight because Darrel isn't seeing well enough to drive at night.  We hope once the other eye is done he will see a lot better.  The banquet was lovely, the kids are so sweet, and did a great job of serving.  One boy played songs on his violin for our entertainment.  Really a great bunch of kids!

It is 11:00 and I am sitting at the computer.  I find that the TV programs at night can cause the mind to spin.  As a result I read before turning out the light.  Now when John is home that is easier said than done.  Also the hymns on the radio also helps me focus my mind, John can't sleep with the radio going, I can't sleep without it.  I turn it off when the light goes off.  Betty I too pray but not by alphabet.  I start with family, praying for each one, then go on to friends both here on CP and outside CP, and finally friends on Facebook.  Sometimes it helps, other times It doesn't.  Turning the TY off does help.

Larry Happy Birthday!  Glad you had a good day with Stacey.

We are fortunate to have had just cold.  About 1/2 way between Pat and us they got 40cm of snow.  There are 2.54 cm's to an inch.  Tonight is another clear and cold night.  I was really hoping for cloud cover!

John leaves again tomorrow likely about noon.  Heading further north.  Thankfully his truck starts easily even in the cold weather.  There is a heater he uses that keeps the bunk area warm when the truck is turned off.

Could you keep our DIL in prayer over the next couple of weeks, She was in an accident 2 weeks ago, she was rear ended, and had a bad case of whiplash.  They can't make it financially without her pay, and insurance doesn't meet the need.  The car was totaled.

Have a good night folks and try to get some restful sleep!

Etta Sue

We went to Hungry Howie's for supper.  Another couple from Lapel came to the next door neighbors down here.  Both of these couples are from Lapel.  Hungry Howie's is a pizza, salad, soup and dessert bar.  Too much food.

Slept okay last night but left a blind up and too much light in the room.  My room at home is completely dark...not here!

Today I want to go swim suit shopping.  Hope I find at least once that the straps wont fall down.

I don't have any particular way for J night prayers.  I just ask the Lord to give me names - and He does.   :)

Judy, your DIL will be added to my regular list and no doubt will come up on my next J night.  Whiplash can be so serious and hard to heal.   :(

Etta Sue it sounds as though you are enjoying your mini vacation, in spite of having to make adjustments in your sleep pattern.   :thumbsup:

Good morning everyone,  this is Marlo.  Got home yesterday.  Thank you for the prayers I could feel everyone of them.

Happy Birthday Larry!!

JudyB my mail is behind but will be going out very soon!!

Sleeplessness-  I only sleep about 2 - 2 1/2 hours a night.  Mine comes from restless leg syndrome.  My body jerks so bad that I wake up 36 time an hour.  That is fully wake up.  I had a sleep study done to be diagnosed.

Thank you again for the prayers my heart is having issues so please continue to pray for my family.

Hi everyone.  Another chilly, below freezing morning, but very beautiful day.  After coffee this morning a friend and I went walking at the gym for a few rounds.  I was able to make 5 rounds and then rested and then anothr 5 rounds but felt that pushing the limit for today.  I then made a trip to the credit union and stopped at a couple of drug stores looking for sugar free chocolates for Pat for Valentines day as she said that was what she would like to have.  I did find one heart shaped box of candy for her.  I already have the valentine for her for tomorrow.  In a little while I will attend my Monday men's luncheon and this evening I have someplace I need to go for an hour or so.  The housekeepers just left.  I doubt that the yard people will be here today.

Judy, thanks for the devotional thoughts for the week.

Etta Sue, I don't think I have ever attended a church service where there wasn't a sermon.  That was inexpensive coffee and probably a big draw for the place.

Carol, thanks for the birthday wish.  Yesterday at our Valentine Senior's Banquet after church they played some background music at a very low setting that didn't interfere with conversation at the tables and it was very nice.

Janet, thanks for the birthday wish.  I am one of the fortunate ones who seldom every has difficulty sleeping and if I do I just put my earphones on and listen to some nice music.  However, Pat often has trouble sleeping.

Ruth Ann, our daughter had valentines and a little box of candy for each of us when we saw her on Saturday.

Marilyn, thanks for your birthday wishes and I saw the beautiful card you left for me on Seniors and Friends.  Pat used to sleep much better when she used the CPAP machine but hasn't used it now for quite a few years due to her eyes and teeth.

Judy, I understand the benefits of listening to music to relax a person.  I often fall asleep listening to it.  Thanks for the birthday wish.  So sorry to hear about the whiplash your dil experienced.  We felt so fortunate when we had the young lady run into the back of us as we didn't get whiplast.

Marlo, sure glad you are home from the hospital and thanks for the birthday wish.

Jeanne Lee

Marlo, I'm so glad you're home.  I hope you're feeling much better now.   :)

When my kids were little, my husband would buy me a large heart shaped box of candy and three small heart shaped for each of the youngsters to give me - which of course were returned to them as a thank you!   ;D

Janet

Today started out as a real Monday!  I was up, watching It's Supernatural! when the phone rang, about 7:15.  It was the Care Home, wanting me to come to work, as the homemaker on the 400 neighborhood failed to show up, wouldn't answer her phone, hadn't called....grrr.  I really didn't want to go, but said I would, and was dressed and there in about 15 minutes.  Then, about ten minutes later, the other gal called and said she would come in--so they gave me the choice to stay or have her come in and I could come home.  I chose to come home, but it really messed up my plans for the morning, and I feel like I'm really behind!  They called and asked me to work on Saturday, too--but I said "NO!"  And I went to my painting group instead!  :thumbsup:

Larry, I'm glad you had a nice birthday.  Like you, Darrel rarely has any trouble sleeping--day or night!  ;)  I'm not expecting a card or candy, since we went to a Valentine Dance and the next night a Valentine banquet!
(I really do love cards, though.)

Marlo, so glad you are home, and prayers for your heart issues continue!

I need to go to the bank and the post office, so will be back later.

Alas! and did my Saviour bleed
(Click title to hear music)

Alas! and did my Saviour bleed,
and did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
for such a worm as I?

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
and love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide,
and shut His glories in,
When Christ, the Mighty maker, died
for man, the creature's sins.

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine -
and bathed in its own blood -
While the firm mark of Wrath Divine
His soul in anguish stood.

Thus might I hide my blushing face
while his dear Cross appears;
Dissolved my heart in thankfulness,
and melt mine eyes to tears.

But drops of grief can ne'er repay
the debt of love I woe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away-
'til all that I can do.

That is one we sang as a choir and I still remember watching the choir director lead us.........  Those were good days.

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!"
His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?
The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?"
"That's easy, Daddy..." the young boy replied excitedly, "It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'"

Carol

Marlo:  Good to read your post.  Restless leg syndrome, I thought there is something that can be done for that diagnosis.

JudyB:  Yes, to a care prayer for your DIL.  It could take a long time to heal, I hope she is getting proper care.

Our church put out a lot of care packages for the troops before Christmas and we are still reading the TY letters.  The last one was from a full General.  His area received 1600 packages of the total, I don't know the total sent.  Each thank you is such a sweet thing to read and they often give thanks for the least expensive thing in the box.  They all share and mention the notes and signed cards.

Any news from Al?

Etta Sue

Well, we stayed home last night. Barb fixed what she called quesadillas but I would call them enchiladas but whatever, they were very good.  The neighbors brought over chip and Mexican dip and Valentine's cup cakes and ice cream.  Very good meal.

I woke up with a sore throat.  It got 80 degrees in here yesterday before they decided to turn on the A/C and then left it on all night.  And it got cold in the night...down to 60 degrees in here.  Too much degree fluctuation for me.  And I was told that I was sure sawing logs last night...don't you do that when sleeping?  I don't hear myself since I wear earplugs when on vacation so I can sleep.

I think Walmart is today and I would like to go to the pool again.  Right now the water is shut off in the park.  There is a water leak a few lots away.  So no shower this morning!

JudyB

All Creatures of Our God and King
(Click to hear music)

"Let heaven and earth praise Him,
the seas and all that move in them."

Psalm 69:34

Author: Francis of Assisi, 1182-1226
Tr. by William H. Draper, 1855-1933
Melody from GeistlicheKirchengesang, 1623

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam!

Refrain

O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in heaven along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!

Refrain

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light.

Refrain

Dear mother earth, who day by day
Unfoldest blessings on our way,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
The flowers and fruits that in thee grow,
Let them His glory also show.

Refrain

And all ye men of tender heart,
Forgiving others, take your part,
O sing ye! Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
Praise God and on Him cast your care!

Refrain

And thou most kind and gentle Death,
Waiting to hush our latest breath,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou leadest home the child of God,
And Christ our Lord the way hath trod.

Refrain

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

I received this in an email yesterday from Bonnie Atlee.

The Haircut

A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father
as to when they could discuss his use of the car.
His father said he'd make a deal with his son, "You bring your grades up
from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut.
Then we'll talk about the car."
The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer,
and they agreed on it.
After about six weeks his father said, "Son, you've brought your grades up
and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm
disappointed you haven't had your hair cut."
The boy said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've
noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the
Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair, and there's even strong evidence
that Jesus had long hair."

(You're going to love the Dad's reply!)

"Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just back home after a full morning and getting a bit to eat for lunch.  After coffee I went to visit my friend who has had the reinsurance of prostate cancer and has been house-bound for the last 3 or 4 weeks.  He is hoping to be able to come back to join us for coffee perhaps by the end of the week.  I then returned something at Walmart and made a quick stop at Sam's Club, which is just across a side street from Walmart.  Finally I attended a meeting.  We had snow during the night.  The only evidence of it this morning was a white strip on the roofs where the valleys are located.  Pat and I have an appointment late this afternoon and that will be it for the day.

Jeanne, that was a thoughtful thing with the three smaller boxes of candy for the children so they could give you something and give you the joy of giving it back to them.

Janet, proud of you for taking care of yourself in saying no if that was not what you wanted to do in terms of working on Saturday.

Judy, loved the little boys definition of the meaning of the Bible.

Carol, while not expected the thank you notes are always welcome.  I am sure those packages met a lot to the soldiers.

Etta Sue, hope the sore throat goes away so you can completely enjoy your trip.

Marilyn

Etta Sue what was that link to getting your glasses online.? I need another Pair I am tired of the Dollar store glasses.

Happy Valentines day everyone

I called Marbeth this morning at 9am and didn't get an answer but I did leave a message.

Marilyn, it was I, not Etta Sue, who got glasses online.  And the address is:  ZenniOptical.com.  Good luck!

We are just home from Garden City, where we spent the day.  Darrel had an early appointment at the eye doctor's, for the pre-op  on his left eye.  He will have the cataract removed from that eye on Friday.  We had a bunch of other things to do, so just took our time and got them done.  Now we are both tired and sleepy, so I expect it will be early to bed for us!

Etta Sue, I really like that Valentine's  Day graphic!  Nice!  Glad you're having a good time, but sorry about the scratchy throat, hope it goes away soon.

RUTH---your money order has arrived, thank you so much!

GORD--sorry I missed your call yesterday.  I was away longer than expected, so I didn't know whether or not to call you back, as thought you might be away yourself by then.

Larry, I wanted to go paint, as that is my stress reliever once a month, and I thought the gal should have been looking for a replacement before the last minute!  So I said no (was rather proud of me, too!)   ;)

While we were in Dr. Fry's office this morning, I sold another book!  There was another couple from Ulysses there, and they mentioned it, and I 'just happened' to have a couple copies in my lap at that moment!  :cool: ;)

Hope this is a good day for all of us.

Good morning everyone, Another cold one here today.  Thank you again for all our prayers.

Carol  they do treat RLS but there is no cure.  I am on Meripex they use that for Parkinson also.  I take 4 mg a day.  My Pharmasist says he has never filled one that high before.  He always owes me pills because he never has enough.

Judy I sent you a PM.

Janet I also sent you a PM.

With love and prayers

Betty

We have a snowy day here today, and I'm sitting in Physio before heading out on the road. Fortunately it's only a one and a half hour drive one way. We'll be working with a teacher to set up iPod Touches in her classroom. It should be interesting as we figure out how to have things work with our computer systems.

Judy, I'm praying for your DIL. I had a car accident two years ago where I was rear ended and pushed into guard rails - and that's why i'm still having physio - whiplash, back, and now shoulder. But I am getting better. The shoulder is being pretty stubborn but we haven't quit yet. I have a really good physiotherapist that I really like.

Marlo, it's good to see you back online

Have a good day everyone.
Betty

Enjoying God's handiwork!

Yesterday we went to Walmart...not one pair of capris in my size and not one pair of sandals without being thongs that were flats!  So I came back with Halls cough drops.  My sore throat is gone...must have been just breathing dry air.

Then I went to the pool for some exercise.  Then the neighbors down here who are neighbors at home also and us four went to Woody's BBQ restaurant.  I had a Sloppy Woody.  Delicious with baked sweet potato and cole slaw.

Later another couple came and we played Hand and Foot cards.  Fun day.

I got a call from a classmate saying another classmate had passed away yesterday morning.  She had suffered a lot in the past 4 months.

This morning the neighbors brought us breakfast.  We all had egg casserole, fried potatoes with onions, sausage links and orange rolls with coffee.  Yum!

Janet and I are going to the pool in a few minutes and then this evening about 4-5 couples are going to Troyer's Amish Buffet.  I know it's good...ate there last time here.  If they don't have it, you don't need it!

I have been knitting dish clothes while here.  I have made 5 so far and give them to the ladies.  I would like to make two more before leaving but I don't know if that will be done or not!  I can always give Barb hers when she gets back to Indiana.

Tell Me the Story of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

"There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all men." 1 Timothy 2:6

Words: Fanny Crosby, in The Quiver of Sacred Song, by William Kirkpatrick and John Sweney (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: John J. Hood, 1880).
Music: John R. Sweney

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth.
"Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth."

Refrain

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Fasting alone in the desert,
Tell of the days that are past.
How for our sins He was tempted,
Yet was triumphant at last.
Tell of the years of His labor,
Tell of the sorrow He bore.
He was despised and afflicted,
Homeless, rejected and poor.

Refrain

Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain.
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
Love paid the ransom for me.

Refrain

Janet

Etta Sue, it sounds as if you are having a wonderful time!  Good for you!

I'm trying to get the house all tidied up before my dear sister Shirley arrives.  I'm not sure what time she and her daughter might get here.

Do you remember the sweet 16 year old boy who has such a heart for Beth?  Well, yesterday, his parents came to see Beth, bringing her balloons and a rose.  The card said, "from Adonus and family"  (That is the way they spell his name.)  I am just astounded what a heart this boy has for Beth.  I plan to write about this on my website, will give more details there.

It's pretty windy here and pretty chilly, too.

Hi everyone.  We had a most glorious day yesterday as the weather was perfect.  Today is still to be reasonably warm but we have an 30 percent chance of rain.  I have to make the trip to Atlanta today to have my pacemaker checked and then have an afternoon appointment at the car dealership to see if they can find what is causing my problems with it initially starting without removing the key and opening the door and then putting the key back in and closing the door, which seems to reset things.  I hope I won't have to spend all afternoon to have it checked out.

Marlo, our daughter, who has neuropathy in her legs also has restless leg and so know it isn't a pleasant thing to have.

Betty, hope your project to set up the iPod Touches has gone well.  I had one of those for a couple of years that I really liked but when I got my smart phone is duplicated most of the apps so I gave the Touch to our daughter, who really loves it.  Sorry to hear of your continued pain from the whiplash.

Etta Sue, it seems that a change in climate usually messes up our sinuses or results in a cold.  Sounds like you had a good breakfast from a very nice neighbor.

Janet, it sounds like the young boy has good role models in his parents.  Glad they could bring some joy to Beth. Enjoy your visit with your family.

Al, as always good to see your posting as it is to see the postings from Marilyn and Jeanne.

Yesterday, Janet and I went to the pool.  Ivalou went with us to take a shower....more room there than Kaye Don's tiny shower.  Also there is a shower seat.

Then at 3:30 we went to the Amish Buffet in Sarasota.  There were 10 of us there.  Then back to Kathy and Jr's to play Hand and Foot...Women at one table and men at the other table.

I have one more dishcloth about done.  Then I am putting the bag of yarn in the car.

Today is our last day here.  Ivalou's protime was in the norm but we will stay tonight and leave early in the morning.  Kaye Don seems to think if we leave by 7am, we will be through Atlanta before rush hour so that is my plan!

I don't know what is in store for us today other than loading the car of whatever we won't need tonight.

Barb started a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle after we got here...it will be done today!!

Larry I have never heard of neuropathy what is that?  Does that involve pitted edema in the legs?  Thank you for all the support.

I have been fighting my different illnesses for some time now.  The RLS I am on the highest dose they every perscribe and it is no longer working.  The was a patch called Nu pro that I took for a while and it worked wonderfully and they stopped making it.  So back to the Meripex.  For my Migraines I take 400 mg of topamax a day 200 mg in the morning and 200 mg at night.  I am now taking an altitude sickness medicine because I keep building up fluid behind my eyes.  The is a few other things but that is just to name a few.
At first I was confused as to why.  Then I remember that the LORD says it is not our place to ask why, so I am now asking what he wants me to do with it.  Have have meet some amazing people in the doctors waiting room and I am able to give my testimony and if nothing else I am able to pray for that person and for their family and situation.  And when the LORD sees fit to take all this away or call me home I am ready either way.

Give of Your Best to the Master
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Howard B. Grose, 1851-1939
Musician:  Charlotte A. Barnard, 1830-1869

Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every
heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof,
even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
Numbers 18:29

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul's fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave.
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Clad in salvation's full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart.
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave.
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Naught else is worthy His love.
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin's ruin to save.
Give Him your heart's adoration;
Give Him the best that you have.

God willing, my discharge date has now been set for the 24th at 1PM.  So that's what we're aiming at.  I am a little apprehensive, inasmuch as I haven't lived at home in many months.  I'll have questions like how to get into and out of some chairs and the bed.  What to do when I have to get up and go to the bathsroom at night, etc. Please pray about these things.  Thank you all for your prayers - God is pleased to use them in accomplishing His blessed will.

Hi everyone.  I don't usually read the postings until morning but decided to stop in tonight before going to bed.  It was a busy day.  It rained, usually a light misty type rain that created a lot of road spray while driving, but didn't have any difficulty in going to Atlanta or getting back home.  My pacemaker/defib check took only about 10 minutes or so and I have enough voltage left in the battery for at least another three months and will be checked again in May at which time the device will probably need to be replaced as the battery will be in that range.  It was 0.01 volt from the elective replacement point but after that is reached there is a three month safety reserve so it doesn't stop working immediately.  From there I went to the car dealership and they found the problem was with the battery cable on one side that was not fitting as it should.  They fixed the problem and did not charge me even though it wasn't a problem with the car per se as they had not installed the new battery.  I am very much relieved to have that problem behind me and know it wasn't anything to do with the car.  I didn't get home until fairly late in the afternoon and was able to rest only a short time.

Marlo, my daughter is a severe diabetic and the neuropathy is related to that.  Diabetic neuropathy is damage to nerves in the body that occurs due to high blood sugar levels from diabetes.  Rather than trying to explain it let me refer you to a webpage that provides a concise explanation of its many effects. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001713/ It has affected her legs and her stomach most noticeably but she also has had seven heart attacks and a condition in one of her feet related called Charcot Foot which has put her on crutches and a power chair to be able to get around.  There is a lot of pain involved in her legs and feet and it is beginning to appear in her hands.  I can certainly relate to the migraines as suffered them for many years but haven't now for probably the last 20 years or so.  Both of my children also experience them and my dad and grandfather had them until they reached a certain age.

Etta Sue, tomorrow is suppose to be a nice day here in the Atlanta area so hopefully you won't experience any major problems getting through Atlanta.  It seems that your visit has been very short but know you and Ivalou have enjoyed your trip.

Judy, it is nice not to have a lot of snow but it serves a necessary purpose to replenish the earth with vital water as you well know.

Al, I can understand your concern about having to get along with the assistance of a medical staff when you get home but sure you will get the aids and tools you need to manage.  I expect home will look mighty good to you.

Jeanne, that fretting just never accomplishes a thing other than getting us upset.  Each day we are living God's plan for our lives and he provides what we need to endure during those rough times that we all experience in various stages of life.

Hi, friends, I'm back online. The visit with my kids and granddaughters was a good one, but by the time I got back here late yesterday and then had a 6 pm appointment, I HAD to rest most of today.

Also, while I was gone, they apartment maintenance people did some work in my apartment and connected up the cable cord, but didn't plug in the electrical elements, so it was mighty quiet up here til they had time to come do it. The cord plug in is behind my piano and my short arms just wouldn't reach the outlet! ;)

I won't respond except to say it's so good to see our newest participant, to see Al (wonderful news, and yes, a matter of concern - I understand since I had my knee replacement and didn't have any help afterward), to know Marlo's back in circulation again, happy birthday to Larry a bit late, etc.  Y'all please forgive me if I didn't mention you.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

Larry, the ipod Touch project is coming along. The hardest part is working around the regulations and restrictions we have to have on them because of our computer system. But the students were pretty excited about getting them. I have an iPad and an iPhone through work, so am learning to use them. Our schools have PCs so this is part of our difficulty. We have some good computer techs to work with, so I'm sure our glitches will get worked out.

It's mostly my shoulder that still isn't cleared up. My physiotherapist is trying to figure out what we need to do. There is improvement but it has been very slow. I have a lot more movement than I used to have.

Judy, we were up to Burk's Falls last night. We had to go to the funeral home (my husband's aunt) and so we stopped in to see Dad. He is having his surgery today. One of these days we'll be up there long enough to be able to arrange a visit with you.

Praying for everyone. Have a good and Godly day.

Good morning, friends,

My goodness, how much better the world seems to me this morning - most likely because of the long rest yesterday. ;)

It will be busy, so thought I'd speak to y'all before going out and about.

I suppose I may put on Etta Sue's "social butterfy" wings for a few hours. My former manager wants to meet with me about a work project for him, then 2 ladies and I will travel out to a lovely restaurant on the lake to celebrate a friend's birthday. At last count, I think about 12-14 will be there. What fun we should have!

Betty, my prayers this morning are for our Lord's will be done in your father's surgery and that He would bless and guide those who are participating in the surgery itself and in his recovery.

Y'all have a good day with our Lord.

Jeanne Lee in the Bible the LORD states 365 times "Fear Not" once for each day.  Al, we all are praying and I pray for m dear brothers and sisters in Christ everyday.

Larry the you for explaining and for the site, I have never heard of that I will add you children and their families to my prayers as well.  My father in law is a severe diabetic he is on dialysis's for 20 hours a day.  He has had a kidney transplant went into rejection and now is not healthy enough for a transplant.  He has also gone blind and almost lost all of his hearing.  This man is very special to me he has been more of a father to me in the last 25 years than my own has my whole life.  He even walked me down the isle .  I will never forget what He said to me before he walked me down down the isle.  HE said youngin' when we get down here and this is all said and down there are no in-laws in this family.  You will be my daughter weather you like it or not.  Then He took my hand placed it in his arm and walked me down, the isle.

I got to here him say that again about a year ago when his kidney shut down My husband and his two sisters went to see if they were a match for a donor.  I was there I went to him and took this hand and placed it in my arm and said I wont try to.  He said because there are no in-laws in this family you are my daughter.  We were all texted and I was a match.  Three days later we got his test results saying he was not healthy enough.  We looked at each other and "Do not Fear"  and each day we call each other and before we hang up once of us says it to the other.

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Well, Larry.  If I were a nervous person I would have caused a 100 car pile up on I-75 through Atlanta this afternoon.  We thought leaving Bradenton by 6:30am, we would avoid the afternoon rush hour....NOT!  And it didn't help that just north of downtown I had to go to the bathroom so bad!  I turned off on, I think, Moore Mill Road and went west...found a Wendy's about 4 miles from I-75.  TomTom recalculated and I was hoping it would find a way to Cartersville by way of back/side roads.  Nope...sent me right to I-285 and then I-75 north.  We were 32 miles away from the motel at Wendy's and 99.4% of that distance was bumper to bumper...stop...go...stop...go and cars changing lanes like they were ants in a farm!  Whew!  I made it!

KDon and Barb found their card and gift card that we hid under the runner on the dining room table.  She wrote on FB about it and said she found it when cleaning off the table to play cards tonight!

We are in the same motel as going down.  At least we don't have to get up early tomorrow since we know we have a bed when we get home!

It was foggy north of Tampa and sprinkled some on us but this afternoon was bright and sunny!

We had a very nice time in Florida with Barb, K Don and others from home.  Too short of a visit but I imagine Jane will be glad not to have to feed my fur girls!!

Hi everyone.  A pretty quiet day.  This afternoon I went with Pat to return some socks at a specialty shoe store and then to the grocery store.

Etta Sue, glad you made it through Atlanta safely.  Good thing you were going through today and not tomorrow as the weather is suppose to not be very nice tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Marlo, thanks for that very nice postings and telling us of your special relationship with your FIL.  I don't think I ever heard of anyone having to be on dialysis for 20 hours a day.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you were very busy today.  Hope you had a great time.

Betty, you should have a lot of fun with the iPad and iPhone and sure you will see a lot of commonality with those two devices and the iPod Touches you are dealing with.  I have decided to get the iPad 3 when it comes out and am looking forward to it being announced in a few days.

Marilyn, you have certainly been busy with your webpage.

Janet

Hi, guys!  It's been a long and busy day here.  I was awake at 2 AM and couldn't get back to sleep; finally got up at 4:30, and my sister got up just a few minutes later.  She has already gone to bed, and I am heading that way myself as soon as I finish this.

We left pretty early to drive to Garden for Darrel's eye surgery.  It went well.  Shirley went with us and was allowed to watch the surgery with me.  We ate at Golden Corral, then did a couple of errands before going back to the clinic to have Darrel's eye pressure checked.  Perfect, they said, so we came on home.

My younger sister came out with her two little granddaughters and her dog, and we all went out and walked four miles.  Pretty well wore out the kids, the dogs, the grandmas, too!

Then we sat down and planned a family reunion for May.  Beth had been calling, so we (shirley, JoAnne and I) went in to see her.  Back home, ate supper, doing this, then........that's all, folks!

I won't make individual comments this evening, but I will pray for each of you!  :thumbsup:

Carol

It is later than I thought, just looked at the clock.  We have had visitors and usually a couple of days between - Don's cousin & wife are staying for five days but not at our place.  We have taken them around and walked through an art show today outdoors plus showed them where to shop for produce.  Whew - both of us had to take naps upon returning.  Next week, my cousin arrives.  I think we have to go home to rest.  So grateful that everyone doesn't come at once and we have strength to visit.

Alright Al!  Super news - the 24th.  You are almost there.

Marlo:  It sounds like a lot of pills.  Prayers for your healing and less medications.

I don't know how these artists make any income - they are on the streets & their pricing is much too dear for the average person.  Some people were buying jewelry but that is not appealing to me at all and at those prices, I will keep what mom had in her little box and my old favorites.

This is interesting.  Don's cousin & wife are Catholics but they want to come to church with us this Sunday.  We have been having some wonderful discussions as he wants to talk about his study of Paul.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are expecting some heavy rain later today but this morning is just overcast.  Had a quiet day yesterday as planned but did go with Pat to return some socks to a specialty shoe store and then to the grocery store.  Nothing special planned for today.  I am just home from coffee at McDonald's and there were only three of us there today.

Janet, Pat finished your book yesterday and thought it was very good.  Wow, a four mile walk is a long ways.  Glad you were able to be with your two sisters.  Glad Darrel's eye surgery is now behind him.

Ruth Ann, nice to see you had a great day.  Those are indeed blessings.

Carol, nice to have relatives visit but not have the responsibilty of hosting them 24/7 for the time they are there.  Nice that they want to attend church with you all.

Carol

Larry:  Too bad that heavy rain could not have been a heavy snow in the mountains here - they are really below average this year.  No one snowmobiling so that economy is down in the pits.  Yes, this is easier especially since they are here for five days.  We really do not know them that well but they are so enjoyable that this has been a fun time.  His cousin is almost totally retired.

We always say there are angels surrounding us and it was proved yesterday.  We were walking in the art fair, which is closed off on the street with no food around, and Don began to feel like he needed something to eat.  I usually carry a bar and he should have something as well so I asked a young man if he knew where I could get something for Don (as he is diabetic).  The sweet young man went to the back of his kiosk and found an energy bar and wouldn't take any money for it.  Such a nice gesture.  Just thought you might like another piece of good news today.

Jeanne Lee

Carol, great that you were led to that particular young man - surely an angel sent by the Father.   :thumbsup:

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
(Click to hear music)

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

Words: Charles Wesley
Music: "Beecher," John Zundel

Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down;
Fix in us thy humble dwelling;
All thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation;
Enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit,
Into every troubled breast!
Let us all in Thee inherit;
Let us find that second rest.
Take away our bent to sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its Beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all Thy life receive;
Suddenly return and never,
Never more Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
Pray and praise Thee without ceasing,
Glory in Thy perfect love.

Finish, then, Thy new creation;
Pure and spotless let us be.
Let us see Thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in Thee;
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise.
[/color]

Janet

Carol, thank you for sharing the blessing of the young man who gave Don the energy bar.  Another reason to praise our always loving God, who knows our needs even before we do!  :thumbsup:

Larry, my sister, neice and I walked another four miles this morning, early!  And it was cold!  But so nice to be able to spend that time with them.  We had a good visit.  Then when we got home, Darrel had oatmeal ready for our breakfast, and my niece JoAnne  did my hair for me before they left.  Their visit blessed me!

Today at 11:30 I went to a ladies' meeting at the Celebration Baptist Church here in town.  They were having a noon luncheon and my friend Patty was speaking.  I have heard her story several times, but she is a good friend, and has been such an encouragement to me with my book that I like to support her every chance I have.  God blessed me by having the lady in charge of the meeting, who works in our chiropractor's office, stand up and speak a little about my book!  And later I sold four books!  What an unexpected blessing.  God is SO GOOD!

Then I came home to put drops in Darrel's eye, picked up the cards I had for my friend Pat, and went to visit Beth and read to her.  Then by Pat's to deliver her Valentines from our scrapbooking group and visit with her a bit----and now back home!  I must get my stuff together for the portrait class which starts on Monday!  Yikes!!

What good news I read here today!

Oh, Janet, I meant to respond that when I had my cataract surgeries it took me about 8-10 months before I coud safely drive at night. So Darrel has plenty of potential to regain that ability after a while. :)

So nice to learn about the nice young man who shared his bar with y'all, Carol. Do you know about the glucose tablets that he can use to bring up his blood sugar? I get a large bottle at WalMart, then put some into either a small prescription bottle or use one of my old "tube" shaped glucose tablet holders. I carry these at all times in my purse. It's been a while since I needed them, but I believe it's 3 of the little pure glucose tablets to equal 15 grams of sugar, normally what I need to bring up my b/s levels. The tubes are fairly expensive, given that I can get quite a number at WalMart and then just refresh my supply when needed.

Certainly hope Pat's week will be a good one, that Etta Sue and Ivalou got home safely, and that all the rest of us here have an evening filled with God's refreshment and blessings for the soul and body.

Well, must go - I need to decide whether it's going to laundry night or sit down and rest night. ;) Wonder which will win THAT battle!  ::)

Y'all have a great evening.

Carol

I need to sleep fast tonight.

Ruth Ann:  No, I have not heard of those tablets and will look for them the very next Walmart visit.  Again and again, I thank you for your advice.  Now, if I can only get Don to remember to carry something in his pocket.  I usually carry a bar for him in the purse but that one was not replaced so that is my fault as well.  We do well on keeping a container in the vehicle though.  We need to talk to his doctor next visit about why his symptoms bother him so fast.

JudyB:  Yes, we do love our friends and relatives and love catching up on everyone's lives.  I always go through an exhaustion period first and then my brain hopefully catches up for our normal life.   There are days I have to ask "What day is this?".

We drove out to Cave Creek and watched an Indian Festival with colorful dancing & lots of drums.  Ate the fried bread that is yummy and stopped for a coffee on the way back.  Gasoline is now $3.69 and I wonder just where this will go?

Janet

Carol, the last prediction on gasoline prices I heard was that it will hit $7.00 per gallon.  But who knows, really?  Only God.  I think the manipulation of gas prices is pure politics, just my opinion, of course.  All I know is that if we continue to live for Him, God will take care of us.  "I have been young and now I am old, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread."  What on earth do people have to cling to, if they don't know our Lord?

I have added to the blog on my website about Beth, if you are interested.  www.JanetDamon.com

It is cold and windy here this morning. Br-r-r-r-r!  That makes it so much harder to get Beth out and take her to church, but she wants to go.  We are having a business meeting following the morning service, so it will probably be long.............

Etta Sue, thank you for sharing your trip with us.  I enjoyed it!  :)

This afternoon I HAVE to get ready for my painting class!!  HAVE TO!!

Gas prices on my trip was anywhere from $3.65.9 to $3.83.9.  The highest being in northern Florida...of course, where I had to fill up!

I was cool in my house last night.  I will have to get used to it.  Only 23 degrees this a.m.

I am ready for church.  Can't decide if I am staying for Sunday School and going out to eat or not.  Too much to do and tonight is Small Groups.  But what I have to do can wait...

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have had a rainy but not stormy night here in Georgia and it continues to rain this moning.  It is still warm.  Today we will attend church I am sure we will eat out after church and that will be the major activities of the day.

Carol, there are many fine people in this world.  Too bad the ones who aren't get the attention.

Janet, glad you had such a good time with your family and that your book sales continue.

Etta Sue, glad to see you are safely home after a good trip.

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, I'm so glad to see that you're home safe and sound.   :thumbsup:

Carol, often the only way I can discover what day of the week it is, is by checking my pill-minder!   ;D
