Title: New Gallery!
Post by: Oldiesmann on June 12, 2008, 05:29:28 PM
I am pleased to announce the debut of our new gallery software! The new gallery can be accessed by clicking the Gallery link in the menu. Simply enter your forum password and click the button to continue.

The new gallery software will bring us a lot more functionality and flexibility, including the ability to display a random image in a block on the forum and a much easier way to post photos from the gallery in the forum.

If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know!

Oldiesmann - When I click on "gallery," I then have to click on the owl in order to get to the member's albums.  I wonder if this ought not to be a bit more transparent.  It doesn't seem very transparent to me to have to click on an owl!  How about something nice and straightforward?

Should be clearer now. I modified the template to make the album title link to the album as well :)

I have a question regarding the new gallery software.  Do all of the photos go into one album?  I couldn't see where to create more than one.  Maybe it's just my eyes, but I'd appreciate some help on this.  Is there a tutorial for this new software?

If you've already created your album (by clicking the "Your Album" link in the upper right-hand corner), you can add another one inside that album by clicking "Add Album" in the sidebar.

Unfortunately I am not aware of any documentation for the software that's aimed at a regular user. The documentation on Gallery2's website is mostly geared towards administrators and developers.

I can't figure out how to resize all of my images. How do you do that? I need them smaller, because I've already used 8 out of my 10 allowed mega bytes.

You have to have 5 posts before you can create a gallery.  This can include commenting on other pictures as well as posting in Thoughts for the week.  Click on the button at the top of the page "Forum" and it will take you to the various areas!  Hope to see comments in thoughts!  Also I will add you on my Facebook.

Title: Gallery problems also
Post by: JimB on December 05, 2012, 12:10:57 AM
I am having problems accessing my gallery.  I have the 5 post minimum and am wondering if perhaps I need 5 + 1 to access it.  I will post here again if it works or not just so no one is wondering.

Thanks all,

Jim

Well, that did not seem to resolve the issue.  I am getting an error 'Security Violation   The action you attempted is not permitted'.

I can see the album if I am not logged in and am just a 'guest'.  But, if I try to go there when I am logged in I get this error.  I verified the URL for both circumstances and the URL is identical so I am not sure what may be happening.

Any help will be appreciated.

I hope everyone is doing well.

God Bless,

Jim

I'm sorry, Jim.  There seems to be some sort of glitch with our gallery and everyone seems to get the same result you're experiencing.  Our webmaster, Oldiesmann, has been working on the problem but so far has not found a solution.  For the time being, you can use a remote site such as Photobucket, or use the Attach feature.

I know I have not been around very long, but if you ever want me to look into something and are willing to give me the necessary access, I would be more than willing to help.  I have been in the technical field with computers for quite a few years and have a knack for solving issues.

Let me know either way.
