The Birth of
Christian Photographers Website!
April 9, 2003 was the day we opened the doors to our own site with our own domain name--Christian Photographers. And it will be 8 years this April 9, 2011. I bought the domain name and Michael (Oldiesmann) helped set up the forums and we started with the first "New Every Morning" that day.
Lots and lots of water has gone under the proverbial bridge since then and I must thank my son for his wonderful webhosting since we started. When anyone has sent in a donation (which have really been few and far between), I've sent it on to him but the rest of the time, he's hosted our site at no cost.
Sadly, this is going to end. He is going on to other ventures in his business and cannot continue the free webhosting.
Either we must end our site or we must move to a new webhoster.
I can't afford to pay the webhosting that will be involved each month by myself so I'm coming to the membership of Christian Photographers now wondering if any are willing to help so that our site can continue to be the beacon it is on the World Wide Web.
Would members be willing to help with the webhosting costs? Even a one time donation of as little as $5.00 would help in the long run. But we'd have to be sure that we were going to get enough to pay the webhosting and the renewal of our domain name each year. We've been looking into various webhosters with the bandwidth and size that we'd need being a photography site and we would have to have at least $100.00 to $150.00 per year--maybe a little more and maybe a little less.
So, the question for all of us to answer is,
"Do we close our doors this April 9 which would be 8 years from when we started?" or continue?
Members who would be willing to donate will do so anonymously and will not be known by anyone except myself and one other Administrator. We aren't a charitable site so receipts cannot be issued. We've been running the website
Seniors and Friends (http://seniorsandfriends.org) since we started there with donations and it's worked out up until now.
I know you are all happy to have this place to meet. We have a "Donate" button that goes right to PayPal and this helps with the monthly webhosting costs, etc. The button is over on the
LEFT in the
LEFT SIDEBAR. When anyone donates, just make sure you put "For Christian Photographers" on your donation.
If you need any information regarding paying by PayPal, I'm sure someone will be able to answer your questions. Just click the button over on the left.
But...First of all, would you answer the little poll above? You will have to be logged in order to vote and the poll is right above this topic. The results of this poll will give me an idea of how we stand and will let Michael and I know if we can continue to search out a good webhoster for our site.
When we started this website, we had a Purpose (as seen
here (http://www.christianphotographers.com/files/purpose.html))and it was this:
PURPOSEThe Christian Photographer's website has several purposes:
- To glorify and magnify God through His creation.
- To lead the lost to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
- To share requests and pray for one another.
- To encourage and inspire those who need it.
- To share tips and techniques for taking better photographs.
- To enjoy fellowship with believers in all countries.
