The forum has been upgraded to the latest version, and as you've probably figured out by now, there are a lot of changes. The biggest changes are in the profile area. Instead of having all your profile info spread out on one page when you edit it, it is now in "sections":
Account Settings: This is the important stuff like your email address, Real (display) Name, password and Secret Question/Answer (this is used if you forget your password).
Personal Settings: This is where you choose your gender, birthdate, time format (ie how you want dates and times displayed), time offset, website stuff and IM names/email addresses.
Forum Profile Settings: This is where you select your avatar (display picture), set your personal text and your signature.
Additional Preferences: This is new. Here is a basic explanation of everything...
- Theme - this is where you can choose a skin (currently only 2 available)
- Show board description inside board - if selected, you will see the board description at the top of the message index when you're browsing a section
- Show child board on every page inside boards... - If checked, you will see sub-boards regardless of what "page" of the message index you're on. This doesn't really apply right now because we don't have any sub-boards.
- Don't show other user's avatars / signatures - self explanitory
- Return to topics when posting by default - If checked, you will go back to the message index after you post instead of to the message you just posted
- Quick-reply - This adds a handy little box at the bottom of a topic so that you can quickly reply to topics. If set to "show, off by default", it will appear "collapsed" at the bottom of the message. If set to "show, on by default", it will appear in "expanded" form.
- Quick moderation - this really only applies to moderators. It adds handy images or checkboxes next to each topic allowing you to quickly move, lock, sticky or delete a topic.
Besides that, you can now "collapse" the categories to hide them if you don't want to view them at the moment. There are a lot of other nice changes throughout the forum, so look around, and if you have any questions, just ask me.
Thanks to all who did the work here. Its much appreciated.
You're welcome. I did most of the work :)
