When I came back from the hospital this afternoon I got off the bus at the bottom of Pole Lane, and tried for one or two shots looking back up the road, and yes the trees are definately beginning to turn.

You are fortunate to have good weather still. Most of our trees are bare, and the only colour is the odd poplar. Day after thanksgiving we had wind and down the leaves came!
Good shot!
This should linger on until nearly the end of November, with the oaks, end of December. If you look on a world map there is no part of England on the same latitude as the USA, in favt the very tip of Cornwall is further nort than the Canadian/US border, you yourself maybe on a level with Lancashire, so if you flew into Manchester you'de be travelling straight across, hehehehehe.
We have as much color on the ground now as in the trees. We had a couple of days of wind and rain that brought most of the leaves down. And now the raking! :(
