Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

This is Duchaney Falls.  If you look in the distance you will see a bridge.  I think of it as "The Bridge Over Troubled Waters".  It is a long climb to that bridge, and also a lot of fun.  The next picture I am standing on the bridge looking down and further upstream.

Notice the ledge in the lower left corner?  It makes a lovely area to sit and rest after the climb from the roadway.  We love to go to Duchaney Falls to get away from the bustle of the city, and enjoy some wilderness outside the city.....about 10 minutes away!

"DSCN2295 Resting Ledge"

Another view of the spring runoff.  Our water tends to be brown up here due to the high iron content.

This gives an idea as to the distance we had to hike to get to the bridge at the top!

Pat you and Paul will have to come up and plan to stay a few days.  I will take you here.  BUT the water won't be so wild, it is already settling down.

This is the South River, just past the Hydro Dam.  Spring runoff can get pretty wild.

This is looking under the road toward the dam.

"DSCN2301 Resized"

A closer view of the dam.

"DSCN2306resized"

The thing about this river and dam, is that in the summer there is only a trickle of water escaping from it.  The river as seen in the first picture is not much more than a stream, that cattle can drink from.  It is a tributary from this same river that flows by our houce, that in the spring we become concerned about.  Now these pictures of the dam and river were taken around the 30th of April..

Lovely pictures, Judy.  It looks like a wonderful spot to visit.

Don

Spring run off really makes this river come alive huh. I'll bet this is a very peaceful place once the spring run off is gone.

Great series Judy!

Don I will put in some comparison shots come summer.

LaughingPeppers

Nice shots, Judy. Great compositions. I like the second one the most.

Thank you Gary , Mario and Pat.  They were working on the dam today, not to sure doing what.  We live with in 10 minutes of water in just about every direction.  Great for swimming and fishing in the summer!

Barbarian

Sorry I missed these earlier.    They are beautiful shots.    I wish we had a little more water.    There hasn't been rain for so long in North Texas; we're on a record drought.

I feel like wading into that water, just to feel the rush of it on me.

JudyB

Come on up Barbarian, you would be more than welcome.  It is wonderful to be able to wade in this water.  It is unusual to see the dam still on maximum run off.  The Hydro workers haven't raised the barriers yet.

I need to get back up there and see what it is like now.  Will do that soon!

I love the sound of rushing waters from the river.  Looks like a peaceful place to relax.  Beautiful pictures.

Judy, the few that came up for me are beautiful!  I do love the water!  I don't know why most of the photos wouldn't show.

I see it didn't stop on Christmas day. How much snow did you get?

We have been having fantastic weather here, only had a few nights so far to get below freezing. We have been getting rain but we need that.

We have also been under Tornado watches, strange for this time of year but this is a strange world we live in today so I guess you could say it is normal. A tornado touched down at Christa's home a few days ago, only a block from her home, Thank God they were spared and it missed them.

My daffodils are coming up already, I'll try to get a shot of them and send you a little Spring. Never seen them this early before.

That would be great to see Don...we will be in the deep freeze for another 3 months, and April is traditionally quite cold as well.

Jeanne Lee

Don, the snow did stop on Christmas day - it had already stopped when I took that first picture.  It started again Wednesday night and continued until late Thursday afternoon for a total of about 9 inches.  Since then we've had another 5 inches last night, so now we're well over a foot deep.

These are the latest, from this morning

And just as a relief from all that white, this was delivered from church this morning.

How nice, Jeanne!  The poinsettia, I mean--but the snow is lovely, too!  We never (or at least rarely) see snow pile up like that, without wind.
