Title: Toronado Aftermath
Post by: Suzanne on January 15, 2005, 08:36:25 AM
Very early Thursday morning while I was at work, our ER doctor came through the lab and told me they had heard over the police scanner that a small town just south of where I live had been "wiped off the map" by a tornado, that all emergency services from the surrounding areas had been called to help, and that we would be needing all the lab and x-ray people we could call in. In other words we went in to "Disaster Mode". Although we have "Disaster Drills" about once a year, they are usually during the day and all of the department directors are usually in the hospital. I think this was the first actual disaster in a very long time. The tornado didn't wipe out the town as first suspected, however it did quite a bit of damage. I think there were 3 people killed (very sad).
They had trouble even getting emergency services to the areas because of so many downed trees and power lines. I did go and look at one of the areas that was hit later Thursday morning, but I forgot to take my camera. So I borrowed the photos below.
Needless to say this has been a stressful week ???. If I get out this weekend I will try to get more photos.

It never ceases to amaze me what power there is in nature.  Yes, weather is wreaking havoc all over the planet-----one of the sign of the end times.

Thanks, Suzanne.
