Title: Another Visitor to my backyard
Post by: shutterbugmom on December 28, 2008, 12:04:13 AM
I was blessed with another winged visitor to my yard today.  A Northern Flicker.  He wasn't there long...just long enough to drink from our pond fountain and then he was gone.

I just happened to be sitting by the window that is next to our pond and I saw him arrive.  I am wondering if he's the same one I saw eating berries, hanging from our vines yesterday.  It was too dark and too late when I saw him then, he was gone in a flash...just like today.

I haven't been feeling too well lately, so I suppose God's been bringing me the birds to photograph.  I just haven't been feeling up to going into the field and also we've been busy with Christmas events.  Thank you, Lord, for another close encounter.  What a blessing it has been to have these little winged creatures visit me.

h My what a wonderful series of pictures.  They are beautiful.

I thank God for giving you such a keen eye and skill that you use to His glory.

Thank you Kathleen for being observant.

Thanks, Judy.

I'm glad you like them.  It's fun to be able to share these visits with you all.  It would certainly be no fun keeping them to myself.

This one I saw, but the Sharp-shinned hawk my hubby noticed and the Kestrel my daughter spotted.  I owe a lot to them, especially in the field because with my eyesight, I often don't see them.  They are my spotters.  I thank God for them.

Lovely images, Kathleen.  As you said, nice to have them sent right to you.

Thanks, Becky!

I must be getting spoiled because I was sad to only have my mourning doves, finches and sparrows visit yesterday and today.  :(

Amazing to have these visitors to your back yard!  I only get the "usual" ones but how lovely to see them!

I'm so happy to view this one of yours, Kathleen.

Yes, I never tire of watching my "usual" birds.  They are all wonderful.  I try not to take even the most common bird for granted.   :)

Amen!

I think of that little chorus, "God sees the little sparrow fall..."

How true.

The second one would be good for the mini challenge. I think it has enough action in it.
