He is at least 2 years old. They moult their brown feathers not long before their 2nd birthday. They can be a real nuisance, but they also can be great pets! We had one when I was young, We eventually let him go and the following spring he came back, I found him sitting nose to nose withour cat. She knew him. He stayed with us till autumn then went south. He didn't come back.... :'(
This is a great capture, the colouring is so beautiful. Wonderful!
Nice shot. JudyB, cool story.
Great photo. And he does look very well mannered. What fun, Judy. It's especially amazing that the cat and bird recognized each other! :o

hehehe, that might be why the starling didn't come back. Wonder if the cat had a smile on his face..
That cat was amazing. We had a budgie once wear its self out flying from window to window and fall onto the floor. The cat picked the bird up in her mouth and too it to Mum. She (the cat) was trying to meow the whole way. The bird lived a long time after that. She never killed a bird!

Interesting how animals are frequently that way isn't it? But definitely the exception to the rule.
