Title: Birds Along the Katy Trail
Post by: buddywoods on April 04, 2015, 05:17:43 PM
Here are some photos of birds I saw along the Katy Trail this morning.

Two wood ducks in a tree.

I think this might be a juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.  I'm not sure.

Northern Flicker

I saw two Bald Eagles flying around.  Not sure why they are still here in Missouri.  Maybe they have a nest, I am by the Missouri River.

I have no idea what this bird is.  I couldn't find in in my Missouri bird book.

What a wonderful variety, Buddy.  It must be a beautiful trail to walk.

Yes, it is a nice trail to walk or ride bikes on.  The trail runs about 240 miles.  A large part of the trail runs by the Missouri River.

Very nice photos, Buddy!  I took the liberty of asking my friends on the forum at Whatbird.com for help identifying your mystery bird.  I was guessing a flycatcher, but was only close...turns out to be an Eastern Phoebe.
