In an attempt to keep unwanted critters from my main bird feeders I recently built this. The wrens and chickadees use it also, but I built it for the squirrels. Seems to be working, they act as though they love it!

How cute! Great idea!
Thanks ladies. I thought someone might get a kick from it. I've wanted to build one since first seeing it. Glad I did as it's fun watching the squirrels use it.
What a fun idea! cozy warm in the winter, too!
Strange...
I don't see a photo in your post, Jim.
Me either! It was there last time I came in! It's dropped into cyberspace! :D
That is strange...I do see it!
I have asked John to build me one of these. It would be fun to have!
It's there for me now. ::)
Great idea, look like the squirrel is happy with your idea!
I like this so much! I could use two of them, Jim!
Pat I guess John will be busy!
Sorry about being so intermittent with my replies. I've really been wrestling with my blood sugar the last few weeks. Really
glad you like the feeder though. It is a delight watching the squirrels use it. I've also seen wrens and chickadees inside mine. They are quite easy to build. My most difficult task was finding a 1 gallon glass jar. Apart from that it only requires 1 six foot length of a 1x6 board. If anyone is interested here's a link to the instructions.

JIm I understand the problem with blood sugar. Do you walk? I know that helped John's mother and helps John keepthe blood sugar at acceptable levels. Before I knew the relationship about walking and sugar levels a man we drovew with quit the company because they didn't give him enough time to walk. I didn't know how important this was to diabetic problems.
Thanks for the plans, Jim.
I'm really sorry about your blood sugar though. Hope you get that under control. I'll be praying for you with regard to this. :)
Thanks Judy and Pat. The sugar levels seem to be coming down slowly now (upper 200's-lower 300's) so at least they are getting to a manageable point. If I can keep up the exercise and diet all should go well. Of course like each of us, I have a very powerful friend who leads the battle.
Good!
