Maybe it's my monitor, but I don't see any green! :(
I'd have called it a "red heron", but there already was one of those, so I guess they went with the color of the wings, which are shades of green.
A super shot Barbarian, love the light in it. Don't you just wish the light in all your shots were like this? Just wish you had captured the whole bird.

Beautiful Barbarian. Wonderful shot. How close were you to take the picture!
I can really see the green. It's beautiful!!! :o
I too think that it would be nicer to see the whole bird.
Great job, though!

There was a huge Japanese garden, with several large ponds, and the bird had dropped into a little glade with Japanese pines and dark green ground cover, giving a very interesting light. He rested on a branch out over the water just a few yards away, and seemed pretty confident that I wouldn't try to go out there after him.
Mrs. Barbarian got him, too:

Another good one! And the Mrs. got more of the surrounding area.
Well Done. I do enjoy your photography!
I like the one Mrs Barbarian got also. Nice shot.
Looks like a nice place.

Mrs. B. has some very beautiful shots of this very large garden. I'll ask her to post them tomorrow.
Good we would love to see them. I do enjoy her work too!
That first one is a beauty Barbarian. Excellent light showing the green sheen and the eye contact is awesome.
Great picture. :)
