Title: Grey Heron Flyby
Post by: mybcjazz on April 21, 2010, 07:38:59 PM
This big bird flew right by me recently as I waited along to Imazu River, well, for birds to fly by!   ;)

Tell me Kevin do you ever do anything to tweak your pictures?  Just wondering.  some do some don't.

I do use the "digital darkroom".  My main editing program is Aperture 3.0, produced by Apple, for editing with Macs.  It's not as versatile as Photoshop, but I just do some basic, exposure, level, and highlight adjustments.  And at the end, when necessary, add a tiny bit of edge sharpening.

However, Canon "L" lenses are very sharp, and almost all my bird photos are shot with one of my two "L" lenses, so not a whole lot of sharpening is necessary.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Be careful where you are when one of these gorgeous creatures flies by.  I watched one take off and about 10 feet away from me he dumped.  Bird droppings on the car from robins and sparrow or even crows are one thing, but from a bird this size....   ;D

Judy, it's funny now, but at the time I could only offer a little prayer of praise that he wasn't any closer.

Very good. BIFs are great fun. You did well. Herons tend to be spooky.
