Herons act so regal but can be quite funny.

Ohhh well taken.  You can see the individual feathers.  And the eyes are so clear!

I so agree that they can be quite humorous at times.  I really like your captures.  That first one is just tops!  :)

Nice portrait...do they all have that long feather coming from the top of the head or is this a specific breed?

What a contrast between the two pictures.  I never would have thought they were of the same bird!   :D

They are cool birds. I read that there are over 50 types. I don't know what all of them look like, but all the Great Blue Herons have this plummage. It can be spectacular when they are in the breeding time ( really fluffy).

They are awesome to get close to. most are pretty spooky. Thanks.
