... this is a Chipping sparrow but can't seem to match it up with anything in the book so far.  Anyone got any ideas?  ???

The closest I can come, with that broad white band around the eye, is an "immature" chipping sparrow.  A little hard to tell for sure because the color of your picture seems to be very light rather than the normal brown.

Thanks, Jeanne Lee.  This was shot in morning light at a weird angle.  I do think you're right.   :thumbsup:

I need to get the bird book out to be sure but I think you are right Jeanne.
