This mama flamingo was taking care of her egg. Gee, I hope it's not the male who watches over the eggs. Anyone know???

DId the egg hatch while you were there?
No, the egg did not hatch while we were there, unfortunately. That would've been the ultimate. I would've stayed with the birds all day if I didn't have seven family members with me..."patiently" waiting for me to take my pictures quickly so we could all move on.
This is the Eurasian Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber roseus)
L 46" WS 60" WT 6.3lb. more or less (wow, my laptop weighs more than that!)
Sometime maybe go in the spring alone and watch and wait for the hatchlings! That would be so much fun!
