Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

These little guys are fun to shoot. Had to ask The Lord for skill to capture them.[attachimg=#]

mybcjazz,
I'm happy you like the swallows on wing shots. They are a fun. I can tell you my camera settings.

I shot in AV mode, ISO 800, which made my shutter about 4000 or 5000. Then you point the camera at a swallow and try to focus. I have a 7D that has center point expansion and was using evalutive metering. I also shoot a 100-400L hand held. I use rear button focus, I believe that helps.
I think I could have used a lower ISO, maybe 640. Isuppose some one who is better with manual might try that. I think the main thing is very high shutter speed. They are in and out of the view finder so fast.
The thing that made the difference is a quick pray, "Lord please slow these down, at least in my sight so I can get them". All of a sudden something that seemed very difficult worked.
I suppose you might say " on a wing and a pray". Try these little speed balls, they are fun. For every keeper you might get several deletes.

Godd Bless and have a great day,

                                                                                                                          Jack

You know I don't understand all of that.  But I do understand they are amazing pictures.  Well done!

Oh, that 7D is a focusing marvel!  I've watched Canon's promotional video on the 7D.  And I was saving for one of those, but my 40D is still working so well, I just couldn't justify another camera body.  But I do miss having a 50mm 1.4 from my film days, an all-purpose lens, that would stay on the camera, and be great for indoor, people picts.  So instead of that 7D, the EF 35 1.4L (at 56mm on the 40) just might fit nicely into my current arsenal.

Thanks for all the data.  As soon as the camera is back from having its sensor cleaned, I'll be out prayin' for the swallows to slow down and to fly where there are few power lines!

Great Shots of the Swallows. The Detail is very good. Something to be said for this because theses Swallows are very quick. Did you use a Tripod or just a real fast Shutter Speed? Thanks for sharing and may the Lord bless & keep you.

These are outstanding. Focus, clarity, sharpness, absolutely good work. :groupwave:

Wow, now I'm blushing. Thanks for your kind words.

Fotobirder

Thanks for the explanation. I knew you had to use a fast Shutter speed. I can get the bigger Birds but the smaller ones are much harder now. To see that is. LOL.

Thanks for sharing the info

Hey Steve, I can't even get the big ones! You should have seen me chasing a robin around the backyard this morning with my camera. When I finally gave up, I noticed a lady across the lake watching me. I promptly went in the house.

:roflBig: TOO funny!  I am glad I live in the boonies so that if I do something like that no one sees me!   :roflBig:
