This juvenile hawk visited me last week and I wasn't able to get a good picture of him before he flew off. Well, today he once again landed in the tree in our back yard. He was no doubt in search of prey and our yard is certainly full of that...usually.
Of course, he had scared away the many finches, sparrows, mourning doves and juncos that frequent our yard by the droves. It was exciting to capture this bird of prey in the wild, yet so close to me, right in my yard. He's very young and quite small, but I believe I have properly identified him.
I hope he returns again, but I sure enjoy watching all of my little birds, too.

When I zoomed way in on the pattern on his chest, they look like little fall leaves. Our God is so amazing!
What a beauty. It loves watching your little birds, too! Yummy! ;D
What a beautiful bird. Even if it is a bird or prey!. You have done a fantastic job of focusing in on the detail of the head and shest. Indeed we have an awesome creator.
He is beautiful, you did a great job of capturing his patterns and colors.
Thanks, everyone!
I haven't seen him since I took these photos. :'( I would like him to come and visit me again.
Yes If it were me I would like that too!
Oh, guess what? He came back today and he was eating his prey in the corner of my yard on the ground. I will post some pictures when I get time. It was so cool! I am just a little sad about one of my little birds being his dinner. :'( Unfortunately, that IS natural!
Yes that is nature. What other than birds does he eat? Could you put food out for him? Perhaps use a mouse trap?
