Hey yall

Quick prayer request - Terry is having a MRI of his head today.  Pray that this will show up what is wrong with him.  We went to a neurologist (sp) yesterday (finally!)  and he said he was surprised that no one (drs) has tried to help him .  He said he would not leave him with the symptoms he has.  I said Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone has a blessed day!

quick chuckle, my son told me on my birthday if I reversed the numbers that i was only 14!  That made me feel better

Liz - thanks for asking the question.  I certainly don't have all the answers, but I try.  As far as what is expected of us - God knows us perfectly, and He knows we're fallen sinners, unable to help ourselves at all.  We're guilty, and we shall remain guilty as far as our own merits are concerned.  We can never earn our way into God's favor.  Christ earned our way into His everlasting faavor.  He did it on the Cross, and no one can add anything to it or subtract anything from it..  He said, "Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out."  We can come because He made the way.  We cannot ever make it on our own.  We're expected merely to submit to His righteousness in our stead.  That is all that is expected of us, and even when that's done we have to thank Him for getting us there!

H everyone and happy birthday Colin and Sue and anyone else having a December birthday..

I started reading postings and then got called away to take some pictures of the three quilts Pat finished up to send to the great grandchildren for Christmas.  They are very cute.  When I have a chance to catch my breath I will try to post some of the photos.

Then I had to get the gift wrapping done so I can send them off the out-of-twon gifts this afternoon when I go by the UPS store.  I also wrapped the packages for our gift exchange with our kids.  Pat and I already have our Christmas gifts so they didn't have to be wrapped.

I think the Christmas luncheons are over for me and maybe one more for Pat, shopping is done, almost all of the Christmas cards and letters have been mailed and now it is time to relax.  Pat got a little probably 24 inch high Christmas tree at Wal-Mart yesterday and it is just rights.  She brought in the decorations but hasn't done any decorating yet as the quilts have been consuming her time for the last several days.

This afternoon I am going with my friend, Rod, to the grand opening of a new senior center about 20 miles from here.  We are going to have a SeniorNet Computer Learning Center there as a satellite of our Center.

We have a truly beautiful day here in Georgia again with temps up to about 70 degrees.  I was very pleased when my November gas bill came yesterday and it was only $67 and these warm days are certainly going to help on the December bill.  We had about a week of cold weather and that is is for now.  I heard them taking about how bad the weather is to be on the West Coast and some of the postings above indicate it has arrived.

I have a lot I need to work on so better not dally here today.

Pat, I moved one of the postings for one of the people you probably zapped.  I thought you might want to see it.  It is in the Moderators section.

Janet

Goodness, lots of posts since I was here yesterday!

I had a strange thing happen yesterday.  My right leg has been bothering me, so Kristi modified my exercises so as to not stress it; but yesterday, I did really stress it, I guess.  About an hour after coming home, I could barely walk!  I called her and she said to stay off it, keep it elevated, put ice on it for at least 20 minutes, take Ibuprofen, and if it got worse to call her.  I said "Yes, Dr. Kristi!"  ;)

I had to bake my friendship bread, then did lie down and put the ice on it, it did seem to help, but when I was up for a while the pain returned, and my leg kept trying to collapse.  We went to Diane's and then to the movies at Guymon with them, and every time I got out of the vehicle, Darrel had to help me to keep me from falling.   :ticked:  I have no patience with things like this!!  But I'm so happy it's better today.  Kristi called to check on me and I told her I thought it best not to stress it today, and she agreed.

Anyhow--- the movie we saw was "Facing the Giants" and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!  Wonderful movie, with NO sex, violence or bad language at all!!  Praise God!  I hope the church that made the movie makes a lot of $$$$ for God's Kingdom from it.

Liz, thanks for the little story, I like it!  Goodness, what a lot of water has fallen on your island while we here in Kansas are drying up.  Don't you wonder sometimes why the moisture can't be more equally distributed?  I hope your power stays on and you can all stay warm and dry.  (((hugs))

Carol, I'm sorry your hubby is having hearing problems.  Mine does, too, and doesn't like to wear his hearing aids because he has gotten used to not hearing a lot of background noise, and doesn't like to hear it any more.

Jane and Nita, I always have heard about all the rain in Oregon, but even Oregon can get too much at times, huh?

I had the joy of talking to our dear Mieka yesterday!!  That really made my day!  :)

Pat, I'm sorry about the stinkers posting inappropriate stuff on our beloved CP.  Thanks, Jane and others who have been spotting those and alerting Pat.  Personally, I haven't seen any of them, so glad others are here more often and are watchful.  We need those  C:-) post police!!

:hbirthday: :grouphug: :hbirthday: to our COLIN!!  We are so happy you have joined us and brighten our days with your poetry and humor!  God bless you, our brother!

I am taking my painting class to lunch today as a little Christmas treat, so need to be about getting myself ready to go!!

Talk to you later!

I read all about the wind...it can do such damage! I am bothered with wind too...but the doctor gives me tablets for it! ;D I should not joke because strong wind is terrifying. Be safe everyone and I will try to drop in later.

Greetings from "the west coast" ... Pacific Northwest, to be exact.

The winds have subsided but not until doing their thing around the neighborhood.  There are two homes in this park with trees on them.

I found this out when the maintenance crew came by my place to shut off the water that was rushing from the faucet at the back of the house.

I went out early this morning and noticed a little wind damage to some incidental stuff.  As I reached to try to push it back into place, I heard water running!  That sound always gives me concern ever since my past experiences with broken pipes under the house.  I noticed it was the faucet where the hose attaches so tried to turn it off.  Nothing.  In fact, the water just began to run harder.  I called my neighbor who came over and worked for a long time emptying the water out of the box where the meter is so he could turn off the water to the house.  All the while the water was rushing out into the yard and down the street.  I was thinking I will have an enormous water bill by the time this is over.

Well, nothing seemed to help and, even after he'd gotten to the shut off valve, water was still all over the place.  About that time the park manager and a maintenance man came by.  Bob (my neighbor) told them he couldn't shut the water off to the house.  They looked and determined that the water was indeed shut off in the house but this water pipe was not on the meter ... meaning: any water running from that faucet was being charged to the park and not me!  Well!  You can guess they were quick to come back and cut and cap the water pipe so there would be no more "free" water here!  I never even knew that.  Oh well .....

I am grateful that the problem was solved (to some extent) and it wasn't raining all the time they were working around outside here.  Only minutes after their work was (temporarily) done it began raining ... then hailing ... and it is really cold here!

They have to go cut some trees off houses now, so their day is going to be a busy one.

I couldn't sleep last night (again) so got up about 1 a.m. and noticed the television was back online (it had been off for most of the evening) so I made some scrambled eggs and a cup of coffee and sat up for a while.  Back up at 6 a.m. though.

At the moment the sun is shining and the sky is blue ... funny weather here on the South Coast of Oregon, for sure.

This is far too lengthy so I'll skip all the other stuff I was gonna tell all y'all ... maybe another time.

I want to acknowledge all the December birthdays ... and today, especially ...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Today is also the 33rd anniversary of the birth of my #1 grandson, Tim.  Yup, it's been 33 years since I first became a grandma!

Janet, it sure seems like you had one "eventful" day yesterday.  How nice that you got to visit with our Mieka!  Sorry about the leg, but I know you will take care of it today and it will be "good as new" before you know it.

BC~I am praying for Terry ... and Etta Sue, you know I am keeping you in my prayers, as well.   <3

Gotta go, so I'll just leave all the rest of y'all with a

I drove to the quilting group meeting & no one was there - good grief, two days this week quilters haven't shown & they didn't let me know - that is what I get for being out of town.  But -  I needed groceries anyway.  Came home and threw a pork roast in the oven on low & froze portions of soup so I can give them away to the children who want my soup.

Everyone in the stormy area Take care.  I hope that you have one of those new combination crank radio/light things - I have the crank lights in both vehicles & we carry an emergency bag on every road trip. (Now, watch me forget it when needed most.

Marilyn:  I have been searching for good sales on cotton fabric & Hobby Lobby had some for $2 per yard.  Making personal quilts for your grandchildren, I know they will treasure the quilts.

Etta Sue:  Good luck with your tests.

JudyB:  I am a morning person and get really sleepy early in the evening - not exactly a party girl.  I hope that your big job is over - sounds like you had a lot to do in one day.

Jane:  Now I see the button.  Thanks.

I would like once again to thank you all for your kind good wishes on my this my birthday. You have made my day so special. I never had a birthday like this one before. I just had a really quiet day and played a lot of games on the Wii with Gregory. This is one really brilliant console for playing sports games on. It is really good fun. I loved the birthday card with the bears. Brilliant! No need to send the firebrigade Pat for I had no birthday cake and no candles...never ever had one for any of my birthdays. I got mentioned on Radio Star which was very nice. I had a brill day in my own quiet way and I am so glad I could share it with you all. God bless!

I am away for a pin now to burst Pats balloons. I know she is out of puff blowing them up! ;)

You have all written wonderful and interesting posts. Take care everyone and goodnight!

Happy Birthday, Colin and Sue. Colin is your's over yet?  I know I'm late for Sue's birthday.   I want them both to have been happy ones. :)

Colin, if you've never had a birthday cake, then I'm glad made one for you this year.  Thank you for all of your poetry and your silly jokes. haha

As Jane said, our storm is over.  The only damage I had was part of my roofing blew off.  Just a chunk.  And it may be repairable using the roofing materials again, as they are laying out in the yard.  If it rains before that, then my sister, Sue, will have a wet head.  I think it's right above her bed.

I'm out of words and need a nap, so will be back later.  God bless,  Nita

I had a nice day today.  I went and picked up the three ladies who paint regularly with me, took them to lunch at Alejandro's and then brought them out here to our house for a little visit.  They enjoyed the "little outing" and that was the whole purpose of it.

Nita, I hope you get your roof repaired soon, wouldn't want your sister to have a wet head!  From the TV reports, those storms were really fierce!

Colin, I didn't bake you a cake, but did bake you a loaf of friendship bread.  Hope you like it.  :)

I'm thinking maybe Darrel and I will watch a movie on DVD tonight.  Beth loaned us her copy of CARZ.....or is it CARS?  Anyway......

See you later, alligator!

Hi everyone!  <3

Loved reading through your posts! :)

Not sure what to say since I'm just new here, but when I come onto these boards I can sense His peace and I can see that His love is here too.

Today, is Saturday here in Australia, were ahead of most of you by about a day. My kids are now in school holidays which go now until January 30, 2007. I have six sons from 12 years to 2 years - yes, its a busy and noisy household! :)

Tomorrow some of my boys are shepherds in our church's Christmas play so we are busy getting their costumes orgainised.

I very much enjoyed Etta Sue's devotional at the beginning. (I've been a Christian since 1979 and served the Lord as a missionary in Papua and New Guinea and in India for 10 years, where I met my husband, George.) I love how real Jesus is, how He expressed His heart and emotions and that we can be real with Him. He is never ashamed of our weaknessess but encourages us to bring them to Him so His power can be made perfect through them.

Bless you all and may your week be magnificently blessed by Him,

Love, :)

I found this on SN.

REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Female reindeer retain their antlers untill after they give birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, (Prancer too) had to be a girl.

We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost !

Hi, friends,

I've certainly enjoyed reading the posts since I was last able to be here. I was sick yesterday and stayed home from work. Felt a bit better and went in today.

Now, I can hardly believe it - with my5 days of vacation, the 2 weekends, and then Christmas Day and the day afterward off, all together, it will be 11 days before I go back to work. What a vacation!

Also, I believe your good wife has a birthday the next day following yours, Colin. Am I correct? If so, hope hers is also a good one. Sorry I missed getting here for your birthday wishes, but am glad it was a good day.

Sue, I hope your was a great day, too. About reversing the numbers of our age to make us feel good - mine reversed would be the same - 66 - and I CERTAINLY don't want to turn them upside down. :D

I'll be on the road altogether between 6 and 7 hours tomorrow - Rome, GA is more than 3 hours away from Nashville.

My grandson's graduation is tomorrow. What a great time it will be to be with him and the entire rest of the family!

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Hi, Inspired Gal. :)   I think this is the first time I've seen you here.  I see you've posted 8 times, so I'll just get myself around to see what you've had to say.

You must be very busy with your family of sons. :)  Your service to the Lord for 10 years as a missionary must give you much understanding that those, like me, who have never been anywhere, could never have.   I'm looking forward to getting to know a new sister.

ok...I'm heading to the gallery and elsewhere.  Blessings y'all.  Nita

COLIN

Colin came home from school
Beaming with pride and joy
Mammy we learnt to count today
Am I not a smart wee boy?

All the other boys only counted to five
But I counted right up to ten
Is that because I'm from Portglenone
He asked her again an again

Yes Colin; that is right, she said
As she combed his thick hair down
You counted so well today
Because you are from Portglenone town

Oh Mammy we did the alphabet
An I got on powerful well
All the other boys only got to D
But I said right up to L

Is that because I'm from Portglenone
With big eyes he did implore
Yes it's because you're from Portglenone Colin
His Mammy answered him once more

Oh Mammy we went swimming today
And when I took of my vest
All the other boys were smooth
But I had a hairy chest

They all said it was powerful
And would not leave me alone
Oh Mammy tell me now
Is it because I am from Portglenone

Oh no Colin no; said his Mammy
I cannot spin you another line
It's not because you're from Portglenone
It's because you are twenty nine!

I am not actually 29 either! ^-^ :uglystupid:

Hi everyone.  I want to post early this morning as have a very busy day ahead.  After coffee, I will go to the church at 10 am to practice the Cantata for the last time before we perform it.  It is to be a 2 hour practice.  I will come home for a bite of lunch and then at 1:30 we have a memorial service for a member of our church who passed away a week ago Wednesday evening at the church.

Yesterday, I went with my friend Rod to the new County Community Building that contains a wing dedicated to seniors.  This is the nicest facility I have ever seen including a large area that is divided by a large stone two-sided fireplace with a room with three pool tables on one side and a big TV and easy chairs on the other with dark paneling around the lower part of the wall.  We have a separate and very nice room for the SeniorNet Computer Learning Center that will be a satellite of our center.  There are special rooms for various classes and activities and a very nice kitchen.  The other wings of the facility are for non-seniors with meeting rooms, a kitchen, and administrative offices.  It is quite a ways away from where we live so probably won't be going there very often but want to take Pat by to see it.

I had somewhere I wanted to go last evening but hadn't felt very good all day so decided I had pushed myself as hard as I needed to yesterday.  Sure hoping I will feel better today.

We are suppose to have warm weather clear up until a day or so before Christmas.  It was 70 degrees here again yesterday and sunny.

Sure glad to read that our folks on the west coast of the USA came through those terrible storms in that area yesterday.  Marilyn, I take it that your tent garage survived the wind and rain.  Jane, glad to see it wasn't your pipes that had broken but rather those of the park.  Nita, hope your sister does get wet the next time it rains.  Liz, hope you all came through the storms ok as well.

Ruth Ann, hope your trip to Rome, GA is delightful and with all the time off you should be free to spend a lot of time with your son who is visiting from away.  Do a lot of resting.

InspiredGal, welcome to CP.  I can't imagine the energy level of a household with 6 boys.  You must be exhausted at the end of each day but I bet you all have a lot of fun.  What are their ages?

Janet, maybe the leg problem is a signal for you to slow down just a bit as you all keep a mighty hectic schedule.  However, do hope your knee is feeling much better today.  We have not seen the movie you indicated but may try to do so sometime during the holiday period.

Colin, I have not seen one of the new game boxes demonstrated but they sound quite nice.  The last time I was in MicroCenter, where they sell computers and related items, the man who checked out ahead of me had one of the XBox games and his charge was over $500.  I am thinking he may have purchased a warranty as well or extra games as thought the devices were in the $300 range.  It is nice you can enjoy playing the games.  Loved your poem and got quite a chuckle.

Carol, I will have to tell my wife about that fabric you mentioned as that sounds like a very good price.  Some of the quilting fabrics, while beautiful, sure are expensive anymore.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Larry we didn't get the wind and rain here that they got in Oregon and Washington. Thanks for your concern. The sun was so beautiful all day yesterday and the sunrise this morning is fantastic. Well I just looked out the east window again and  the sunrise is no longer visible, I tell you the truth it really was there when I went out to get the paper.  Everything is frozen out there this morning. I just hope the ice is off the bridge by the time I have to cross it on my way to work.

As soon as Curves opens I am outta here for my workout then  back home to change and go to work at Ruth's.

I think this winter I am going to  learn a little more about knitting, perhaps I will do something on big circular needles. Anybody got any suggestion of something easy?

Morning all,

Terry's MRI was a bust.  He is slightly claustrophobic.  While he was in the machine they stopped it because they said it showed metal around his right eye.  So they took him to have an xray.  The metal is in the skin around the eye, left overs from high school metal trades (over 20 yrs ago!)  They said it would be alright to continue, but after that he could not stay in the machine.  So he is going on Monday to an open MRI.  Please continue to remember him in prayer.  Also he is preaching on Wednesday night at church and Thursday night on the local christian tv station (our preacher is going on vacation to see his children and asked Terry to take his spot.  God is so good!)
