JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus and the Kingdom of God
Luke 17:20-37  NLT

   One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, "When will the Kingdom of God come?"

   Jesus replied, "The Kingdom of God can't be detected by visible signs.  You won't be able to say, 'Here it is!' or 'It's over there!' For the Kingdom of God is already among you."

   Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see the day when the Son of Man returns, but you won't see it. People will tell you, 'Look, there is the Son of Man,' or 'Here he is,' but don't go out and follow them.  For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so it will be on the day when the Son of Man comes.  But first the Son of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected by this generation.

   "When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah's day.  In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.

   "And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building—until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.  Yes, it will be 'business as usual' right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.  On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home.  Remember what happened to Lot's wife!  If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.  That night two people will be asleep in one bed; one will be taken, the other left.  Two women will be grinding flour together at the mill; one will be taken, the other left."

   "Where will this happen, Lord?" the disciples asked.

   Jesus replied, "Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near."

What difference would it make in your life if Jesus returned today?

     Life will be going on as usual on the day Christ returns.  There will be no warning.

     Most people will be going about their everyday tasks, indifferent to the things of God.  They will be as surprised by Christ's return as the people in Noah's day were by the Flood. (Gen. 6-8) or the people of Lot's day by the destruction of Sodom (Gen. 19).  We don't know the time of Christ's return, but we do know that he is coming.  He may come today, tomorrow, or centuries in the future.

     Whenever he comes, we must be morally and spiritually ready.  Live as if Jesus were returning today.

Whew!  What an exciting evening!  I know we shouldn't be asking God to help us win a football game but I'll bet there were lots of prayers being asked.  But the COLTS WON!!  And yes, Janet, wasn't it refreshing to hear God being praised by the coaches and the players?

The teen minister said this morning that the Colts would win because the Colts are in the Bible.  It was a colt that Jesus rode into town.  The bears that are mentioned in the Bible didn't do anything for Jesus.  So Jesus owed the Colts!  It was funny then.... :-\

The 11 o'clock news showed people celebrating in downtown Indy on the circle.  Even the media was talking about how 'good' the people were!  Just gathering...no violence, no trespassing, no vandalism!  Now in another hour...who knows?

And sometime tomorrow there will be a parade in Indy...probably when the team comes back home.  And most of the school will be on a two-hour delay!!

Kitty came to my house this evening to help watch the game with me.  Her husband got home at half-time so she went home to finish watching the game.

Now to get the SuperBowl to come to Indy in 2011!!

Al Moak

Yep, it was fun to watch the game.  I went over to the house of one of the families of the church that was having a get-together with finger food and Super Bowl!  There were about 10 adults and many kids.  Enjoyed it.  Thought it was over before it hardly started, though, when the kickoff was returned for a touchdown right away.  But it didn't go that way.

Hey Pat ... sorry you're not "in the know" ... but this is always a traditional BIG GAME in the US.... the Super Bowl.   I'm happy to announce that I did indeed watch the game this time.  Simply because I knew the coaches from both teams are christians and good friends ... and the first African Americans to make it to the Super Bowl.

Very refreshing to hear them praising the Lord and acknowledging Hiim in all this.

Great game .... Go COLTS!!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Good Morning All,

I know everyone is still asleep and pray it is a blessed and restful one for one and all.
Awww :( sounds like I missed a great game, but I finally got a restful sleep last evening, I just let go and let God. Phew! :)

It has been stressful and i know it will get more so as the date approaches for his surgery. I thank you all for all your prayers they help more than you know. I love coming to this place to just read, pray and relax in the Christian fellowship. Thank You all! <3

Hello to all who post, I pray you all have a God filled and blessed day/evening/night where ever you are!

Still Trusting,

Morning y'all!

I said the same thing yesterday, about Jesus being for the Colts, cause he rode into town on one!

Now what will we do until August? No football :ticked:

Terry is in a terrible valley and really needs lots of prayers.  Thanks ahead for knowing that you will remember him.

Pat ~ Hey, I understand you.  I told myself that when my husband passed away and I had control of the remote that I wasn't going to watch any sports on TV except Ice Skating, Gymnastics and the Olympics.  Last night was the first, from beginning to ending, football game I have watched since 1991!!!  But, Pat, you missed a really good game.  It made my heart smile to realize both teams were coached by Christian men.  Coach Dungy (Colts) tells his team at the beginning of the season..."Do you hear me?  This is the loudest I will talk this whole season so listen good."  Can you imagine any coach not yelling from time to time?  Even Little League coaches yell at those little kids.  (And that just 'ain't' right!)  But you could tell by the Colts players that they respected Coach Dungy and many of the players are Christians also.  Every time I heard anyone say 'God' or 'Jesus', I thought....wonder how many more people are accepting Christ because of these sports-people?  Makes me wonder if anyone last evening was thinking.....maybe there is something to this Jesus fellow!  Refreshing to watch a football game and no fighting also!

Praise God.  What a testimony!

karmat

Etta, I pulled for the Colts last night just for you. :)  We didn't watch any of the game , but Bernard got a halftime report and a end game report on his cell phone.  Go Colts!

We're going shopping today for kristi's 2nd birthday -- it's on Thursday.  Should be fun.  The mall with a 5 yo and 2 yo is always interesting . . ..

Hopefully, I'll be back later.

Hi everyone.

It was 28 degrees when I went to coffee this morning and it really wasn't that warm in the cafe but the conversation was warm and friendly, as always.  I just saw that where my sister lives in Northern Iowa it was minus 17 degrees.  Makes me cold just to think of it.

I did watch the Super Bowl last evening but during halftime switched over to the Food Network and watched Paula Dean do some cooking rather than suffer through the halftime show.  I thought most of the commercials that I saw were bad and there seemed to be a violent streak in many of them.  However, I did get a chuckle from the beard combover commercial.  I enjoyed the game and I do admire both coaches.  I feel sorry for the Chicago quarterback as the media has been very cruel to him throughout the season and know that now that will escalate even though his team made it to the final game.

The housekeeper is here this morning and the yard people are also here, although there is not much for them to do outside.  Basically they use a blower to get any leaves picked up.  They only come once a month this time of the year.

Samantha, thanks for your action this morning in alerting us to the problem poster.  I see it is pretty chilly over your way. I will be praying for Terry.

Jeannine, glad you were able to get some restful sleep last night during the game.  It is only a game and there will be many more to watch.

Our church took up a Souper Bowl collectiion after church with the proceeds going to the Atlanta Food Bank to help feed the needy.  Our young people have done this for several years and they also go once a month to the food bank to help out.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional.  There is a lot of things to think about in that scripture you used.

Ruth Ann, that makes sense on your surgery.  We will be praying for 100% success.

Janet, Darrell will improve with practice.

Marilyn, I hope that your blood pressure rise was due to the excitement of the event and not a permanent condition.  It sounds like your dogs don't enjoy someone else using their space or that they are anxious for your grandkids to get up so they can play with them.

Our son and his wife are planning on being in town for a doctors visit today so hope we will be seeing them this afternoon before they head back home.

Guess I had better move on to some other projects.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hi Everyone...

What a job you all are doing clicking on that "Report to Moderator" button when you see distasteful porn posts!

What an onslaught it's been for a few months now and yet they still keep coming.  Thanks so much!  It sure helps us get to them much faster when you click on the button.

Re the football game, I am pulling all your legs as you probably know.  It's just that I don't understand American football so have never watched it.  Give me soccer any day!  HAHAHA!

Guess I better get out of here and go and keep on banning.

Hello everyone, long time "no see".  I've been busy but thought of everyone often.

Pat your new wheels sure look spiffy!

Marilyn, not that I am a good example of it, but I have found that drinking water and journalling everything that I eat is important to weight loss.  It makes me accountable to myself for everything that goes into my body.  If I have to write it down, I quite often don't eat it!

I didn't watch much of the football game, but my Mom did turn it on for a little bit.  It has been a while since the Colts won and I know many here were "rooting" for them.

Pat, go ahead and plan a road trip.  I don't think that passports are required for entry into the U.S. until sometime in the year 2008.

There will be a "new" vehicle in my driveway tonight too.  The 1988 Lincoln TownCar is being replaced with a 1994 Silverado pick-up truck.  There is also a new addition to my family, a 3yr old black lab/husky named Noelle.  A very well-mannered and smart and loving animal.  Hopefully will be able to post some photos soon.  Now must get back to work.

Gord Brown

 ;D Good afternoon to you all it is nice to be able to read all the postings and to catch up .

Well today started with a visit to the Physio Therapy office. As I told you that I have found out that I have a bulging disc but the physio therapist says that she hope that they will be able to get the disc to go back in and they should get rid of the pain which I have all the time.  If anyone has hed this it is so hard to get a comfartable position
The Lord is the best physician and he can fix it in his time and I have to trust him.

Hi Al.  It was quite a game EH. This is the first one that I have watched and only because my son-in-law lives around the corner and he wanted to watch it on the big t.v. so thats what we did.

Pat.  You only need two photo I.D.'S at the border.  Thanks for saying high. HA HA.

Well must go for now.  Gord.

Good on you Pat...now you are talking girl...soccer..proper football! Who are these Colts anyway. Have you not heard of Manchester United the greatest football team on this earth. And boy...the excitement of FA Cup Final day in May! Then there was George Best..the greatest player who ever kicked a ball and who came from my own beautiful country..N.Ireland. They still talk of how he played Scotland of the pitch single handedly one day in Belfast...that right Gordon Brown!! Yes soccer...now that is a game of skill!

Hi all...see you all later!

I am finally back on line It seems the cable company didn't bill me last month so my bill didn't get paid. I did get to read this morning but as soon as I started to post off went the Internet and I didn't know what it was until this afternoon.

had a great time with the grand yesterday I took them home just before the game started. Hey Etta Sue I did find the Ice skating nationals on ABC so I was back and forth for the first  hour of the game trying to watch both. Then I had to go back to church  at halftime and didn't get back home until the last few minutes of the game.

The kids enjoyed church and it was fun for them. Savannah  took her Girl Scout cookie sign up sheet with us and after church several people signed up for cookies. When we got home the dogs took the kids for a walk and we stopped as some of the neighbors homes and they ordered some too. We  got orders for about 35 boxes.

Be back later.

After my devotions this morning I read this poem and have had it on my mind ever since.

I thought I'd share it with you all.

The Lord called me to follow
By Corrie Bramsen

The Lord called me to follow,
I answered, "I'll obey!
Send me where You want me, Lord,
In my life have Your way.

I'll gladly take my cross, Lord,
And go where You may lead;
I'm here, I'm Your disciple, Lord,
Now You can count on me!

God granted my desire—
Gave me a heavy cross;
Not just a beam to carry,
This one involved some loss.

And I cried out in anguish,
"Dear God, it isn't right!
It shouldn't have to hurt so
For me to fight Your fight!"

He sent another trial
That conflicted with my will;
I whined, "I'm carrying this for You;
Why make me climb this hill?!"

A third time God sent something;
Again I cried, "No fair!
I'll bear my cross with joy, Lord,
But dear God, not the nails!"

Then in a gentle whisper,
A Fatherly rebuke,
God said, "My precious child,
I did all this for you.

I suffered all the anguish
That separation brings.
I climbed the hill of Calvary.
They pierced My hands and feet.

And if you want to know Me,
There's more to it than power;
There's fellowship of suffering;
There is Golgotha's hour.

To know My resurrection,
You must know Me first in death.
There is so much more to living
Than just drawing your next breath.

So take your cross, Disciple,
And all that it includes;
But know through each dark hour,
I bore it first for you!"

What a thought provoking poem, Pat.

I think I'm growing to like ice hockey much better than football. And, even though I didn't care for the halftime show, at least everyone stayed clothed. I felt sorry for them, but they really worked at it, even in the pouring down rain.

And, yes, since I have 2 friends (Etta Sue and also my best friend and her family) living in Indiana, I hoped Manning and his team would win. The hug between the coaches after the game really warmed my heart. People who compete in sports CAN do it with sportsmanship and honor. Last night proved it.

I let the people at my work know about my carpal tunnel syndrome, and when my neurologist (and the surgeon he recommended) were checked out on the list of approved work comp providers, they are part of the group. So, it's likely I won't have to endure another of those painful shock tests. How thankful I am for that.

I must leave for a bit, but hope to come back tonight and go to the photo gallery for a while. Have wanted to do so for quite a while.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Nice devotional, Etta Sue.  Also, nice poem Pat.

I was cheering for your Colts, Etta Sue.  Watched most of the game, all of the last quarter.  Mostly into Cdn. football, tho' was a big Dallas fan when Troy A. was playing.  Loved going to football games when young in Calgary.  They were outdoors then and we brought blankets and thermos of coffee, etc.  Times have surely changed.....of course that was when dinosaures roamed the earth! ;)

Same old same old around here, except Amanda phoned and had to go to Emer. at the hospital, hurt her foot and it may be bad....fortunately her girlfriend shares the driving and can take over the car.  They go to school together in Victoria.  No telling how long they are going to be at the hospital....so we wait....all stressed :-\

Here is a little poem from one of our local papers...think it is safe to post without getting sued...

A VALENTINE'S FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Cabbage always has a heart; green beans string along.
You're such a cute tomato, will you peas to me belong?
You've been the apple of my eye, you know how much I care;
So lettuce get together, we'd make a perfect pear.
Now, something's sure to turnip to prove you can't be beet;
So, if you carrot all for me, let's let our tulips meet.
Don't squash my hopes and dreams now, bee my honey, dear;
Or tears will fill potato's eyes, while sweet corn lends an ear.
I'll cauliflower shop and say, your dreams are parsley mine,
I'll work and share my celery, so be my valentine.

                                   ::)

Well....remember, I'm not the author.

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Hi All, superbowl was fantastic, we shared it with some fellow christians from church and had just a great time. I'm terribly sorry for everybodys weather perdicament. It was a strong 74 degrees and sunny all day here. I wish I could pack it up and send you some sunshine. So how is everybody?. My wife says to say hi to everybody for her. She is a wellnes coordinator. She basically shows people how to live longer and better through nutrition . If you're interested shoot me  an e-mail. I wont discuss it in open formus so you won't think that is why we are here. Well the bears lost and I'm not as sad as I thought I would be.  I'm very happy for Peyton Manning. Besides I have some memorabilia that just doubled in price that I will sell now on e-bay or a sports club somewhere. Anybody like Peyton Manning???  Anyway Hope all is weel and I would like to know if there is somebody who could help me post some pictures at this site. I'll be around in the morning West Coast time but have a basketball game to shoot in Ramona. I should link you to some of my work.

Thank you Jeannine and Samantha for the birthday wishes. Yes it is today and I am 67 years old and healthy Praise God.

Nick where in California are you located. I am in McKinleyville 18 miles north of Eureka. I am assuming that you are in California.

I missed going to Curves yesterday, I went at my usual time and  it wasn't open, someone didn't show for work. I called later and stopped in for a few minutes but really didn't get my workout on.. So I am going today.

The family will be over this evening  so I won't be going to the weekly Univera business meeting.  Some of our people are in Phoenix at Pastor Tommy Barnett's church for Pastor's school. So it might be a much smaller group meeting.

I'd better get dressed and out the door to Curves.

C y-all later.

I will be honest with you.  I have seen and heard more about the Colts in last week or two than I have all the 24 years they have been Indianapolis Colts!

Yesterday afternoon it was telecasted when the Colts got off the plane at the airport, then a sky cam followed them to the Colts Complex.  The Colts changed clothes putting on heavy hooded sweatshirts/jacket with their jerseys over them.  Then back on the buses.  The sky cam followed them to the Convention Center where the Colts got on floats and Chevy vehicles and started a parade in downtown Indy.  Now remember it was only 4°F above zero!!  The sky cam showed very sparse people along the route but as soon as the parade started, the fans came out.  Bet they didn't even feel the cold then.  The parade ended at the RCA Dome where over 52,000 Colts fans had assembled.  There were speeches from the owner, the President of the Colts, Coach Dungy and Peyton Manning.  And some of the foot ball players as well.  The most touching was the player that was in an auto wreck on his way to a game.  Even he will get a Superbowl ring!

The last time the RCA Dome was that full was when Billy Graham was in Indy!!

Today......well, my day started late.  Hey, I am retired.  I can sleep in if I want, right?  Well, it was almost 10am when I got up.  I was reading my devotions when the phone rang.  Ivalou.  She was taking Aaron to get some groceries before the snow that is predicted this afternoon gets here and wanted to know if I needed anything.  Within the next half hour, it was snowing.  Then it was snowing sideways and big flakes.  Next thing I knew the ground was white.  But within an hour, the snowplow went passed my house twice.  I called Ivalou's and left a message for her to call me when she gets back.  She just called.  Said that all Aaron and she did was eat out.  They decided to come on back home while they thought they could.  So it looks like we are home for the duration!

Everyone have a God Blessed Day!!
