JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Ah Pinkie so good to hear from you.  I though maybe you took off with my biker friends. (an inside joke y-all she knows)

Had a great lunch at the Center today, grilled halibut, wild rice pilaf, crunchy zucchini and bell peppers and a green salad. I noticed that Ruth's dementia has gotten worse just in the last two days. She was so depressed today and mad 'cause she couldn't use the phone to call her son. She would call him  over 10 times per day even while he was working.

Bible study tonight so I am outta here,

Hi everyone.

This has been an interesting day and an enjoyable one.  I had expected to need to go to a friends house to help her setup her computer after my friend Rod had gotten it where it would work again.  We hadn't returned the power cord so she couldn't even test it.  I was going to take it over and help her but she returned my call about noon and said she was going out to lunch so would stop by and pick up the power cord, which I had here.  This she did.  She called me while I was eating supper and said her mouse wasn't working so I told her I would come over and see if I could help her.  I finally got both her wireless keyboard and mouse working but have no idea exactly how.  That was a relief.

Our son was here for about 2 hours this afternoon and we had a nice visit.  His wife was at a doctor's appointment so we didn't get to see her.  He was going to replace the works in the faucets on our tub, which had started leaking.  He took it apart and found a little piece of plastic that had come from the hot water heater that was preventing the valve from completely closing.  He took it out and put the faucet back together and all seems to be fine.

Janet, I am so glad that Beth has finally faced her situation and realized it is not your responsibility nor desire that she be in the care home.  It is a shame they took so long to work with her but eveyrthing happens in God's time and obviously it was now.

Etta Sue, how is the sounds of your music through your phone?  I suppose with earphones it is probably like any other MP3 player.

Liz, I think we have your cool weather and you have our heat at the moment.  We had some more rain this afternoon and it is about 72.  However, the humidity is pretty high which makes it seem warmer.  Glad your family is back.

Jane, sorry your acquaintance is harrassing you. We don't have to accept that type of behavior and have the right to let that person know that it upsets you.  We don't have to be anyones drum to beat on.

Pinkie, good to see you are feeling up to posting.

Carol, I am spending a lot of time listening to Pandora since I get to select the type of music I want to hear and reading rather than having the TV on.  However, this evening our PBS station is having a program on Les Paul and then followed by one on Chet Atkins and I plan to watch them.  Les Paul is still performing at 92 years of age.  Of course, Chet Atkins is no longer with us but was a wonderful artist.

Marilyn, glad to read that something may be on the horizon for you shortly in terms of a caregiver job.  Glad you are getting a little break.  It is nice of you to take Ruth to the Senior Center for the meal.

Mistman, nice to see your posting and thanks for sharing that very moving poem.  I agree with you that our society has done nothing to promote brotherly bonds between men.

Karen, it was very nice to read of your successful launch of your book.  I am sure it is a lot of work to get a book published.  Hope it is a big seller and there will be more on the way if that is what you want to do.

Pat

I was away all day yesterday and missed y'all!

I must say that I was so happy and blessed to read your poem, Misty!  Please continue to share.  I may print that out (with your permission) and put it inside my Bible.

Pinkie, my dear friend.  It's so very good to see that you posted.  I'm praying for you daily here in Guelph!

Hi to everyone I've missed.  So good to hear about Beth, Janet.

Just a smile that I received from a friend in Georgia yesterday...

Georgia is so dry that:

The Baptists have started sprinkling.

The Methodists are using a wet wash cloth.

The Presbyterians are giving rain checks and,

The Catholics are trying to turn wine back into water

Al Moak

The Pacific Northwest is known for its raininess.  I wonder if the same groups (Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics) might experience a higher-than-usual rate of drowning during baptisms!
Our church here in McKinleyville uses a place called Moonstone Beach for its baptisms.  A very small river enters the ocean there, and along the tidewater portion of the stream there is a beach that is bounded on one side by the ocean, the other by the river.  So there's a nice sandy beach there to walk right down into the water.  The whole congregation gathers on the shore.

Good Morning I have had 2  :coffee: this morning, I usually only have 1  :coffee:.

I have just finished cleaning my kitchen. I am not working today but I am going to go to the Arcata Senior Center and to the Tai Chi class there which is a bit different than the one I have been going to for the last  almost 4 years. Most of the moves are different. there are many different "forms" as it is called.

Wonderful poem Misty, your intro is awesome.

Janet what a blessing for you and for Beth too. Such a heart cleansing is going on everywhere.

Pat do you know which Trish posted about her mom in the shout box. Is this Paulette's daughter?

Liz sorry to hear that you are having such a heat wave there on the island. I know you are glad Wendy is back home.

Larry You are always so faithful to comment to everyone who has posted something.

Jane I am praying for you sister.

Would all y-all pray for direction for me and if the Lord speaks something specific to you please email me.?  I talked with my Pastor last evening and told him that I don't want any interference from my own thoughts or his  suggestions it has to be from the Lord.

Hi Al did you get my email with the poster I want you to  post at your church.

Good Morning....for a short time.  (As I was proof-reading this, it is past noon...so good afternoon)

Yesterday was great.  The food was so so with a big price on it.  I kept adding salt to get some flavor out of it.  We went to The Sanctuary...an art gallery of N A Noel paintings.  I am sure many of you have seen her paintings.  I loved all the angel ones.  Then the six of us ladies went to a fairly new shopping mall...an outdoor mall.  We only went in one store...a kitchen store.  If the item you needed wasn't there, then you certainly don't need it.

Please pray for John Jordan.  He was my delivery postman while I lived in Greenfield.  They found his truck parked downtown.  He would park his truck and walk his route.  They haven't found him.  Such a nice Christian man.

I am trying to decide if I am going to mow my lawn or not.  It is so dry again but we are having an Open House about a block from me tomorrow.  We had an exchange student my Senior year in high school from Germany.  Ute is visiting her 'sister', Jayne.  So Jayne sent out invitations to the Class of 1960 to surprise Ute!!  Now, you say...what is mowing my lawn to do with that?  Vanity, I guess.  I would like my yard to look nice for those in my class that will driving past my house.   ::)

Oh, yes!  Larry, I am certainly surprised how great the music sounds on my cell phone.  Just as good as my stereo system in the car or my living room.  And the songs I downloaded were from CD's that I uploaded to my computer and then downloaded to my cell phone.  Just great....except when I hit the play button on the cell phone by accident and it starts playing a Hawaiian song.   :-[

Hello all!  Glad we are back up and running.  Pinkie, so glad you were able to join us.  Marilyn, I'm sure God will give you the exact direction you need.

Just breezing through right now.  We are having VBS this week, and it seems like that throws all manners of schedules out of the window.

Janet

Pat, thanks for the grins.  I have shared that already.  :)

We had a mighty noisy thunder and lightning display last night, but nothing WET.  Other parts of Kansas are flooded, and we are baking in the hot sun, dry as tinder.

Etta Sue, we saw that play a few years ago, and I agree, it was great fun.  I looked at the artwork of Noel, thanks for the link.

I am still doing a lot of nothing.  I'm afraid if I learn how to be lazy, I might LIKE it!  :-\   Pain is much less, and I am grateful for that.

Hi, Karma!!

Hi everyone!

Just popping in while my girls are at the dentist.

Today I finished processing and burning the photos for our church from our constitution service (we're no longer a mission church, but a real live SBC church) BBQ and Baptism, week of VBS, plus "Fun in the Park", the community event that our church puts on (free to the public) each year to wind up our VBS week.  Whew!  I took over a thousand pictures during the week.  That's a lot of work.  I'm glad to be done with them.

I begin planning for school next week, also finishing records for this year for my oldest daughter's transcripts.

My girls and their cousins made a great music video to "Move It" that's quite funny.  Wish I could share it with you all.  Maybe if she posts it on You Tube, I can give you all the link.  One of my nieces is playing a gangster type and the other one a basketball player.  My youngest daughter is playing the Prep. (means rich, snotty, prissy, type)  They all are dancing their own style and interacting a little in their different characters.  It's really a hoot!  I'd love to know if it's just me, the proud mother and auntie, or if it's really as good and funny as I think it is.

103 degrees here today.  Yuck!  I hate the heat.  Gives me an excuse to hybernate in my air conditioned home, though and process photos since it's too hot to go out and shoot.  Don't really have the energy anyway.  Maybe a little still life on my dining room table, like I've done before.  Tee hee.  My husband occasionally comes home to find me under a "tent" I've rigged up and standing on top of our table.  Between my two creative daughters and my photography, he never knows quite what to expect upon his arrival each evening.  He's a brave man to come home. :)

Blessings to you all!

Etta Sue, how far are you from Greenfield now? I may be there in September to visit my best friend. She suggested possibly the three of us could meet while I'm there if you're not too far away.

Well, this is wedding weekend, so I'll be outta here from tonight through the weekend.

Would appreciate a bit of prayer for tomorrow. Must do a required report (state laws require it) at 4 a.m. tomorrow morning so I can get on the way. The rehearsal dinner is at 7, with rehearsal itself at 5, so with the drive to get there, then unload, cook, check in to the hotel, etc., it just possibly will be a very long day.

Fortunately the repair shop could fix the truck in record time today. At 7 this morning, they literally took a stethoscope to it to figure out what the "screaming" and "chirping" was, then obtained the parts while I worked. Told me to call on the way there when I could get away from work (about 2:30)  so they could clear a bay for me. Had me sit for the tiniest bit of time (less than 45 min) and then sent me on my way with a happy little white truck. I expect, since they're Isuzu certified, I'll be seeing them mroe often. XD

A prayer request, please. My son needed to go to the doctor he has been in such agony with his head this week. And literally made me turn around and go back this afternoon - he couldn't stand the ride, the light, and was sobbing with tears rolling down his face on the way home. He wants so badly to be able to be at the wedding, but for certain, God will need to intervene. I can't stay in Nashville to do the driving. So, if he's able to ride tomorrow, I can take him, but otherwise, he'll need to be capable of driving himself to Alabama Saturday morning - the wedding's at 1 pm Saturday.

Y'all have  a great weekend.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before picking up my next door neighbor and going to the Senior Center for Friday Men's Coffee.  We take turns driving and this is my week.  Then later this morning I see my internist for a physical.  After lunch I had another appointment with the dermantolist  as have a little place on the end of my nose that the doctor thought I needed to have it checked out.  I will probably have a sore nose in the morning.

Ruth Ann, sorry to read that you son is suffering so.  Having once been subject to very severe headaches, obviously not as bad as your son suffers, I can still empathise with him.  Hope you have a nice time at the wedding.

Kathleen, I can't image trying to work up 1000 pictures.  What a job.

Janet, from the flooding pictures we are seeing out of Kansas I wonder if dry is preferable to the flooding.  Nothing wrong with enjoying some idle time.

Karmat, our chuch is also having VBS this week.  They usually have about 200 children participate.

Etta Sue, sure hope they find your postman.  That is a strange story and hope nothing bad has happened to him.

Pat, I liked your funny about baptism.  I don't think anyone one drown with the Presbyterian baptism.  We have had water rationing for a long time.  :)
Al, you all still batpise in the traditional way in the river.  The church I grew up in had a baptismal font back of the choir.  The church, which was pretty small, often has a musty smell from being closed up and the standing water.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Marilyn, hope your new class gives you some new moves to work on.

Pat

Good Morning Everyone...

A busy day ahead for me.  I am off to photograph a Day Camp's "Olympics" here in Guelph.  Should be fun.

Yesterday I went into Toronto to visit my brother and stayed till evening so didn't get home to Guelph till really late last night but it was so good to see him and his wife.

I'm off now.  Will be back later today.

We met all our children and grands in Littleton for a joint summer birthday party last night - so much fun.  Don said again how blessed we are to have such a great family.

Larry:  I put together on station of Celtic music and want to add the Irish Tenors but the site can't find it - any ideas?  I may still have a very old Chet Atkins record, I took a player and a couple of records off to the room I rented while at U of Washington.

Liz:  Stay cool

Al:  Baptism by the river, a sweet tradition.

Ruth Ann:  My heart goes out to your son.

Janet:  Isn't it marvelous when something big changes, I mean Beth really knows your concern and care and how marvelous that she realizes --

Marilyn:  A doctor told me to not worry about my mother regressing with Alzheimer's Disease, she was just going back to be three-years-old again.  So, your friend will be alright, it looks like the prayers are answered for her care.  Carol

Etta Sue

They still haven't found the postman in Greenfield.  I watched the evening news and the late night news and nothing.  You can read more about him here and here if you want.  I have such fond memories of John...he was so friendly and seemed to care about everyone.

Ruth Ann ~ Your friend is in Greenfield?  I lived in Greenfield 32 years.  Now I am 25 miles away but I still attend church there.  Let me know when you are in Indiana and I will make it a point to meet up with you.

Janet ~ I knew you would enjoy the N A Noel website.

Today is the surprise Open House for Ute.  Jayne lives about a block away and it is sunny so I will walk there since she has a single lane driveway.  I have my old annual and my roster sheet of classmates.  I want to get email addresses is possible of the men so I can invite their wives to our 60 Chix luncheons.

Marilyn

Good Morning. I am ready to go so I have lots of time to compose a post.

I am going to Tai Chi at 8:30, then out to gt Ruth, take her to the lab for a TB test and on to the Senior Center. Her son is to meet us there with my paycheck.

At 2:00pm I have an appointment to go to Blue Lake to teach another caregiver how to  show her how to cleanup her computer and to use word. She is not compter literate at all. The only thing she knows is how to get her email.

I have called Gilbert to see if they will be home but havenot been able to reach them, I wanted to stop by there too, while I am in Blue Lake.

The Lord bless each of you today!  And may our dear and merciful Lord bless our undeserving nation as well and deliver us from traiterous congressmen and senators who are aiding our enemies in Iraq by trying to limit our president's prerogatives under the constitution.  May our God also aid the inspectors in Indiana who are trying to find the missing postman.

We made a major move in the last couple of days by changing from one credit union to another one, paying off our mortage (by borrowing from ourselves), etc.  Big stuff for us. So now, today, have to go do our grocery shopping over in Eureka.

Hello from a rainy western NC.

Bible school is going well.  this is the first time I have taught a class.  Usually, I do the music, but I told them last year I didn't want to do that anymore.  I'm loving teaching.  I've got a class of 2, 3, and 4 year olds.  :)  It's fun to watch them learn at that age.  We have about 50 kids at our VBS.  That doesn't sound like a lot until you consider we've only got 12 - 14 kids that come to our church regularly. (It is a very small church).  we are learning about the Armor of God.

Hope everyone has had a good week and is ready for the weekend!!

Take care

Good Morning all,

Sorry have been scarce, I have been reading and praying. It was a little hard being a left handed typer..lol. But I have been praying with each post I read.

Well, the stitches are out. The doctor had told me they found an unusual amount of arthritis for my age. When I saw him this past thursday they told me that it may never be any better. But we are waiting another month and doing some light physical therapy. So we shall have to wait and see.

With all the time on my "hands" I have been able to update the website Colin and I have been working on. It is a joy to work on the website and a joy to work with Colin. If you would like to check out the latest additions and improvements you can go to  Colin's Faith Inspirations.

May you all have a God filled and blessed day!

Good Morning  It is 5:37 am here on the West coast. I have been out of bed for about 45 minutes awake for just over an hour. All is so quiet and I just heard the first car go by outside. It is starting to get lighter, the dogs have been fed and Happy is here next to me where he spends his time when in the house and Bebe is outside. Usually it is the other way around.

I went to Blue Lake to help my friend clean up her computer and make a letterhead for her to use. She will do well, she knows more about the computer than I thought. I showed her this website  and hope she will sign on.

I missed Gilbert and the family while I was in Blue Lake, He had to go to town and wasn't home.

Today is Fay's (remember her?) 98th birthday, I will be spending this afternoon with her celebrating her birthday. We are all going to the Oriental Buffet to eat.

Hi Jeannine I have been to the website looking around. I guys have done a terrific job.

Carol I got out the material to make a baby quilt, I'd like to make a few just to have on hand any time there is a baby shower. Or one of my grandkids decided to have a baby. Any way the thought is there now I have to find my "getroundtuit".  8)

I guess I will go take a shower and wash my hair, before I do the laundry.

Oldest son & family are in the car all day - driving to NW Montana - it is almost 1,000 miles and they always go non-stop - prayers for travel safety.

Trish:  Prayers for your mom!!!

Janet:  STOP - Take care of Thyself.

Jeannine:  Very nice to see your post.  How are you feeling today?

All I did yesterday was reach for something in a high cabinet on the corner and felt something stretch in one foot - yup, have a little pain where it should not be.  Sometimes... :ticked:

My sleep hasn't been very good for several weeks, another little glitch that happens too often.  Dear Don ordered a noise machine & we had it set on Rain last night - it must have reminded me of growing up in Seattle because I did sleep a bunch longer & also was able to get back to sleep when waking too early.  Sleep, blessed sleep.

Well, I can't exercise this morning - I have to get to some fabric cutting.  Marilyn, I will encourage you to "GetToIt" if you will do the same for me.  Nice that you are visiting Fay.

Pat:  Did you have a nice time taking pictures at the sports event?

Carol

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

My doctor appointments yesterday went very well and the little spot on my noise is non-cancerous and didn't need to be removed, although the doctor offered to remove it.  I declined as no sense encountering pain that isn't necessary and it isn't bothering me.  It was a full day and I was tired last evening but didn't have to go out so all was well.

Today I have a meeting to attend this morning and my wife has gone to a special demo and luncheon at the sewing machine store where she bought her sewing machine.  A friend has gone with her.

Not much else new here other than we had a nice little rain earlier this morning while I was at coffee and it is suppose to rain more before the day is over.  The yard is still looking very green and it is so enjoyable.

Carol, I can't even comprehend the idea of riding for 1000 non-stop.  They must have several drivers and a place to sleep.  It sounds like your sound machine is just what you needed.

Marilyn, living to 98 is really quite a feat.  Hope you enjoy your day with Fay.

Jeannine, glad to see your posting.  Guess we just need to take things as they come and not anticipate tomorrow but enjoy today.  I hope the doctor is wrong and that you soon will be feeling better.  I will check out your website.

Janet, take it easy.  You sure don't need to go backward in your recovery.

Karmat, that is a fun age that you have in VBS, although 2 year old kids can be a bit of a challenge, as I am sure you are very aware.  :)

Al, paying off your mortgage is a wonderful feeling.  We were able to do that several years and I sure would not want to have house payments again.  Thanks for the prayer.

Etta Sue, sure doesn't sound very good for your postman.  Hope you had a good time at the reception.

Time to leave.

Al Moak

I think I may have left a somewhat false impression: our mortage isn't paid off yet.  We're waiting for the money to arrive via check, hopefully this week sometime, then we'll take it over to the Credit Union and use it to pay off the mortage.  So it's as good as paid, but it isn't really done yet.  Then we son't owe anything to anybody!  That'll be quite diffewrent.

Jane Walker

Boy!  I sure don't know what it is about me posting here!  This time I was in the middle of a reply to Al and the power went off!   :ticked:  (that was at 8:26 'cause the clock on my stove is still flashing! ) D'ya think maybe I'm not s'posed to "say" anything here?

Anyway, Al, I was just commenting on what a great feeling it is to be debt free!  I finally reached that status and now only have the "usual" monthly expenses.

Enjoy!

Yesterday I invited my neighbor to join us as we sang at the nursing home.  She said she really enjoyed it and wants me to invite her again.

The problem phone caller is taking a rest for a few days.  She called Thursday night and said she would be calling again "in a week or so" .... I think I can be rested and prepared for that --  I hope!   :-\

I need to get out and do "something" in the yard today before it gets too hot for me.  I really don't do well in the heat -- I wilt!   :D

Of course, y'all might think we here on the coast are pansies anyway ... our "heat" is in the 70's!  I mentioned that to my daughter who called from Spokane last week.  She said "It's hot here!"  I told her we were hot, too,  it had been in the low 70's for a few days.  She nearly screamed ..... "Mom!  It was 103ยบ here today!"  I guess everything is relative after all.   8)

Joy tells me it's pretty warm in Sacramento these days, too, but they don't mind it because they're used to the very humid heat of Mexico!  See what I mean?

Well, I'm going to post this before it gets zapped again.  Sorry I haven't addressed each of you but I surely have read your messages and prayed for each one as I read.

I know the Lord will make a way where there seems to be no way .... y'all take care now, y'hear?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Etta Sue

Our get together for Ute yesterday was a success.  Not as many as I thought would be there but really a nice crowd.  One classmate came from Tulsa, OK, with his wife...the first time being with any of us since graduation 47 years ago!  So happy he could come.  He said he would be back for our 50th Reunion.

Ivalou and I went to Chili's for dinner after I got home from Jayne's.  I love their chips and salsa!!

I don't know where Kitty is.  I haven't heard from her since Wednesday morning.  Their oldest cat wasn't feeling well and Kitty was trying to get a vet appointment and she had a doctor appointment that afternoon.  Then they were to go to Ohio to get their grandson.  This weekend in Lapel is Lapel Village Days...the whole town is a garage sale and today is the parade and such.  Alex loves Village Days.  I called Kitty this morning and left a Voice Mail.

I haven't heard the news today but as of last night, the postman in Greenfield is still missing.   :(
