JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

I am checking in really late.

My arm has really been giving trouble.  There doesn't seem to be much that I can do to kill the pain, and there is no sense  going to the doctor for stronger pain killers as they would be narcotics and I have a strong adverse reaction to them.  So I am just praying this will let up soon.

The girls had a wonderful time at camp.  New friends and lots of Boble as well as activities.  Still they were excites to come home.

Must go.  God Bless

Carol

We were sleeping so hard last night and I woke to a beep beep - I woke Don and got him out of bed to stand on a little foot stool & he took the smoke alarm apart, still a beep started again & we (in our groggy minds) realized it was the carbon monoxide alarm so we took the battery out.  Popped a breakfast casserole in the oven this morning, they are nice to make ahead of time & so - the entire area is taped and most edges painted.

Pat:  That was and probably still will be a tremendous amount of work and I am so sorry to read that you are having a down day and that happens after a big work time.  I do the same thing, and probably at best when things are so much work.  But that is not good news at all for Iain's wife's father.  Tough to bear that load.

JudyB:  Sorry about the pain in your arm and how it must be so difficult right now.   Maybe there is a salve of some kind to help & if that doesn't simmer down in a short while, maybe it needs to be looked into by the doc.

Hi everyone.  Have a few minutes before we leave for church.  I am going to try to sing in the choir this morning as my cough isn't constant and think my voice is back as the cold is now in my chest.  It is another hot and humid day here in Georgia and very dry.  After church we will probably go out to lunch with our church friends.  This is always enjoyable.  Then will come home and try to stay cool.

We had a call from our housekeeper this morning saying she won't be here for awhile as has had a couple of seizures (has had these before) and probably a nervous breakdown.  She has a lot of tough things going on in her life.  We aren't concerned about the house but certainly about her and hope she finds the help and relief she needs.

Pat, it sounds like you have about broken down your treadmill of online work with all you do.  I had to be thankful that I was no longer involved as a host or discussion leader on SeniorNet when I saw all the work involved with the move.  I remember a few other chances we went through over the years.

Carol, your talking about the man who had taken up the quilting when no longer able to do other work fits right in with a little audio tape we listened to yesterday called "Who Moved My Cheese".  It is a great little story that has some wonderful life lessons about adapting to change.  The book and audio has been around for a long time.

JudyB, hope the arm pain will soon so away.  Glad your girls had such a nice camping experience.

Sarah, unfortunately not all managers are willing to accept the responsibility tha goes with their jobs and look for someone else to blame rather than using problems as opportunities for training and learning.  It sounds like you have your head on squarely and will be fine.  Don't accept unwarranted criticsm and if it is deserved learn from it so that you won't have to repeat it.

Janet, progress is inevitible as we must change or we will die and that goes for towns and communities as well as people.  Wal-Mart and other stores of the type wouldn't flourish if the citizens didn't shop there because they gain something from it.  It may not be the way we want things to be but it will happen regardless.  It sounds like you enjoyed your card making at the library.

Karmat, the Magic School Bus sounds like a great thing.

Etta Sue, it is a good idea never to let these people who come to the door selling things get your business unless you know who they are.  Girl Scouts seeling cookies and the neighbor children are the exceptions in my book.

Marilyn, it sounds like you were a dynamo yesterday with all that you got done.

Hope this is a good day for everyone.

Good Morning. I am so grateful that today is a No Work for me day. Not housework , not regular going to work, no yard work, no shopping, just taking the dogs for their walks (providing that this drizzle doesn't turn into rain), and fixing myself something to eat and relaxing. Thank you Jesus that Sunday is a day of rest. I really prefer to get everything done during the week so Saturday can be the day of rest, since I am at church twice on Sunday doing all kinds of stuff there.

The wedding yesterday was not traditional in many ways The music was country songs not the wedding march or the usual songs sung at weddings. The Cake was a one layer Cheese cake for the Bridal party and  the other two cakes were white cake and carrot cake. The bride was given away by both her father and step father. Her dress was traditional and the bridesmaids wore dresses that each were different and all were red. he groomsmen wore all black with red ties and the groom in all black with a  grey tie, no suits just dress pants with shirt and tie.The brides colors were Red and Black. I helped in the kitchen as I usually do at all of the church functions or gatherings.

Carol I asked you a question on SN and now I can't find where it was.  I will eventually.

Pat Gyp is so cute I think Borders have such expressive faces.

Well I better go  use my curling iron and fix my hair for church.

Marilyn, that sure sounds like a different wedding for sure.  I pray that the married couple will be happy in their new life.

Judy, I'm so sorry about your arm.  Did John massage it for you?  He's so good at that.

It really is nice to read all of your posts.

I'd like to go for a wee walk today with my camera somewhere quiet and I just might do that.

Pat ~ I wish we lived closer and you could come down here.  Believe me, there is nothing to do her but watch the grass grow and as dry as it is, the grass isn't even growing!!

I read my morning devotions this morning and at the bottom of the page stated God makes ordinary into extraordinary.  Guess what our sermons were about?  God making the ordinary extraordinary!  Both sermons were superb!  Think about that.  He took a stuttering murderer to present the 10 commandments to the Israelites.  And when Goliath threatened the Israelites, who did God send...a small boy with stones and a sling to kill Goliath, the Palestine.

Then I couldn't decide where to have lunch.  I put gas in the car and next door was a Mexican restaurant.  Even though Kitty and I had a Supreme Nacho last evening, today I had a Hot and Spicy Burrito.  Totally different in flavor and soooo good.

I wish I would get over this not sleeping good the night before church.  I was late when I turned the light off...way past midnight.  And I woke this morning around 5am and really didn't back to a good sound sleep after that.  So I feel a nap coming on this afternoon.

JudyB, I can certainly sympathize with your having arm pain!  I had 5 different things wrong with my right arm, all at once.  Since the surgery to correct 2 of them, it is better, but still having considerable pain.  Like you, I do not want to rely on pain meds.  I am, however, still taking the Darvocet or in lieu of that, Ibuprofen.  Hope your arm feels better soon.

Thanks, Pat, I will go check SrNet out again.  I can't spend much time on the computer, too painful, also too much else demanding my time and attention that I feel is more profitable.

Larry, How did the singing go today?  Good to hear you are better.

Etta Sue, I'm still not sleeping well, either.  I was awake every hour last night, either from pain or need to go to the bathroom.  So a nap sounds very tempting to me, as well.

Our sermon today was on Finishing the Race.  It was good.  Our pastor and wife told us they are wanting to adopt a 3 year old boy from Ethiopia.  They showed a photo of him.  They have 3 young children of their own.

Marilyn, that wedding does sound different, but individualized to fit the couple.  I hope both are Christians and will center their life around Him.

Sarah, I thought about Elkhart, too, just didn't mention it.  I hope things smooth out for you.  That's a big responsibility for you along with your college work.  Are you still working as an EMT?  Are you a Junior in college this year?

Carol, glad it wasn't carbon monoxide and that you are both all right!
