JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Tells about the Wedding Feasts
Matthew 22:1-14 NLT

Jesus also told them other parables. He said,  "The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son.  When the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify those who were invited. But they all refused to come!

"So he sent other servants to tell them, 'The feast has been prepared. The bulls and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the banquet!'  But the guests he had invited ignored them and went their own way, one to his farm, another to his business.  Others seized his messengers and insulted them and killed them.

"The king was furious, and he sent out his army to destroy the murderers and burn their town.  And he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren't worthy of the honor.  Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.'  So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests.

"But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn't wearing the proper clothes for a wedding.  'Friend,' he asked, 'how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?' But the man had no reply.  Then the king said to his aides, 'Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

"For many are called, but few are chosen."

At what point in your life did you realize that you were invited?  How did you respond?

In this culture, two invitations were expected when banquets were given.  The first invitation asked the guests to attend; the second announced that all was ready.  Here the king (God) invited his guests three times--and each time they refused to come.

God wants us to join him at his banquet that will last for eternity.  That's why he sends us invitations again and again.

   Have you accepted his invitation?

Not a thing on my calendar until Friday morning.  Perhaps I will get some cleaning done.

I was at the same time pained and very privileged to be able to visit with a lady from our church who is in hospice. The room is very nice - it will be a good place for her as long as she is with us. I don't believe she'll be here more than just a few more days.

While a deeply devoted Christian, she has always been very fearful, likely caused by her extremely poor vision (she was educated at the school for the blind and wears glasses thicker than I've ever seen before, then still must use one of those tiny half-circle magnifying glasses when she could read.

As we prepared to leave, I asked if she'd like for the 4 of us to sing a hymn for her, and we ended up singing Amazing Grace.

Then, after we had prayer the other 3 drifted out, and with her lips barely able to move, she whispered to me "I just hope I will be at peace. I know I'm ready to go, but I hope I will be at peace."

So I replied that she should have no fear, she will not die alone, and won't cross to the other side alone - the angels will be with her and such rejoicing there should be on the other side. I talked about her finding complete healing in Heaven, no pain, no suffering, no fear, no times of loneliness or of not being able to see.

As I talked, her face relaxed, she closed her eyes, and then squeezed my hand once more as I left.

Please pray for Marie, this 80-year-old saint, as she passes through this valley of the shadow of death.

Thanks for sharing this, Ruth Ann.  We definitely will be praying for this dear lady.

Just over in the glory land
(Click to hear music)

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

This is a 'work in progress' about death:

Death is a friend not yet met,
a feast beyond compare,
a place to meet and greet
the origin of care.
Death has the smell of roses
sweet aroma
not decay;
to be met with eyes
bright as children's
waking early Christmas day.

Yesterday is an anchor, tomorrow is an adventure, today we choose.

Good morning from a mild and breezy N. Ireland. Snowdrops are in bloom. Also some daffodils and even camellias. As I live in a colder area of the country, some of my plants are not so far advanced but it is so nice to see spring stirring herself. I think I will go down the road a little later and video some snowdrops although I have been suffering from the cold all week.
Pat I do love that song you posted and Etta Sue the devotional was very thougt provoking. I am not much a one for going to wedding parties but I certainly dont intend to miss the one God is laying on.
Dear Marilyn...I was teasing you a little about romance. I am so glad you have found someone who is a good friend. It will be up to you and Michael whether you want to develop the friendship further. May God bless the both of you.
Keith I think I understand what you mean in your poem. Although the Bible calls death the last enemy, for the Christian it is like as you say a friend not yet met because it will usher us into the presence of the King in Heaven. Now that is a joyous thing to look forward to and so we can embrace death when it comes with a quiet joy and contentment in our hearts.
Hi everyone else.

Hi there Colin!   Sounds like nice weather for January!  It's still too cold here for those flowers.  Do you have any photos of your camellias?

Thanks wordsculptor for the "work in progress"   Will look forward to the next.

Good Morning everyone. Good devotional Etta Sue. Iwas as a very low point in my life when I was iinvited to the Banquet. I've never been the same again.

There is sleet all over the roads this morning I just got back from Curves and changed my clothes. Not much on my personal agenda today I do have to stop at the store on the way home to get some veggies.

Colin I know you were teasing, it's ok. I think some were concerned that I was getting into something  too fast. Micheal and I have been talking to each other for about a month several times per week on Yahoo Messenger plus the emails. He seems like a very strong Christian and very  nice.

Etta Sue---good devotional thoughts.  What a banquet that will be, and the least of it will be the food!

Ruth Ann, I can't think of anyone who would be kinder or more understanding as death approaches than you.  May you be richly blessed for your caring and giving.

Wordsculpter, good poem, do show us the finished product!

Samantha, praising God with you!

I went to Pat's and we got over half the Valentine kits done.  We cut out, etc, all the components for the care home residents, put them into baggies for them so all they need to do is put them together as they like.  Of course, some will need help even with that part, but I think they will enjoy making their own Valentine for someone special.

Pat, our car gets pretty messy when we travel sometimes, too.  When are you heading home?

I have two more pics to re-resize that the Pastor took of me yesterday. Right now they are too big.

Ruth Ann you are the sweetest most compassionate person that I know, even your voice exudes peace and tranquility. So nice of you to spend that time with  your friend and almost talk/sing her right into heaven.

I have spent the last two on Yahoo Messenger with my friend. Now I have put on a pot of soup with everything but the sink.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been a busy day with a doctor's appointment this morning and then taking our daughter back to her apartment.  We had gotten a microwave for her birthday and she had brought her laundry out to do over the weekend so we had a fully loaded car.  Fortunately there is a grocery cart at her apartment that helps us get things to her floor.  We stopped at a Sonny's Bar-B-Que and had a chicken luncheon that was very good and very filling.  As it was late we sure don't need supper tonight.  I came home and took a nap but am still tired as it was an exhausting morning.

Janet, I will e-mail you as soon as I finish here.

Marilyn, I really like your new photo.  I was glad to read your comment about your new friend in Texas.  I am afraid we may become very protective of the people we care about such as our friends here on CP.  However, I know you are a mature person who will act carefully.  I know of several very successful relationships that have occurred via Internet meetings.  Isn't it unusual for you and Al to have snow in your area?

Pat, know the days have gone by quickly.  I would have loved to be able to attend that concert.  I remember looking at the website for that group.  Hope the weather coorperates for your trip home.

Ruth Ann, you are a very loving and caring person.  I am sure you and the others brought a ray of sunshine to the lady during this difficult time for her.

Colin, we haven't seen any real signs of spring here in our area.  However, it shouldn't be long.

Samantha, I am very glad to read of things turning around for you.

wordsculptor, I liked your work in progress.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional for this week.  We also are warming up down this way.  It was 61 degrees when we came by the bank temperature sign about 3 pm.

Marilyn

Larry snow is unusual for this area. I hear there was quite a bit at my son's house in Blue Lake.

Hi, Ron, it's great to see your face here in CP. I'm a very poor photographer, but this is a wonderful group with which to associate. We're glad you're going to be part of us.

Y'all have a good rest of the day - I think I'll most likely spend the rest of it here in Nashville, TN catching some "beauty" sleep.

G'nite, friends.

Howdy all y'all ...  :D

We had snow here the past couple days, too!  In fact, schools were closed today :o

My daughter, in Spokane, called earlier this evening and said she couldn't go to work today because of the 18 inches of snow that fell in 24 hours.  She couldn't get her car dug out and had to ask a neighbor to help.  He came with his machine and helped her out.  She says there's more snow in the forecast and she isn't looking forward to trying to get to work tomorrow.   :-\

Lotsa changes going on around here ... I can't stay 'cause I've been at the computer far too long as it is.  Trying to help my daughter get a resume together so she can look into another job.  She's also selling (giving away) her house and looking for an apartment to rent.  Oh, yeah, she traded her Honda CVR for an '08 Toyota .... like I said lotsa changes .......
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Good morning cold and rain here this morning. When I went to Curves this morning it was not open, Come to find out the attendant's power was out yesterday, when she reset two alarm clocks they did not go off today. I thing maybe she set them for pm instead of am. She lives up by you Al on Sunnybrook. Was your power out too?

since I didn't get my work out at Curves today I will have to use my mini trampoline this afternoon after work. If it is not raining I will walk the dogs too. Happy didn't get to go yesterday because he burst out the gate and took off next door, he came right back after I chased him but his punishment was no walk. So he will go first the next time.

Again...above is my favorite animation.  For you who are new to CP....keep looking at it, okay?

I got a surprise phone call from my doctor this morning.  I had scheduled the Medicare physical for the 8th of February and a blood draw Friday morning, the 1st.  Seems that it isn't the regular routine yearly physical...the doctor will only talk to you about what Medicare wants the doctor to talk about!  Vision, hearing, height, weight, etc.  But I thought if you didn't do this, you might not be covered by Medicare.  No, if you do this later, they might not pay for it.  So I have canceled Friday's blood draw and next Friday's appointment...leaving those times open for the doctor to see someone who is sick.  I go with Ivalou to the doctor tomorrow and will make my routine yearly appointment for April then.

But today Ivalou has to go back to the cardiologist for a pro-time test so I am going with her.

Not much going on today....just a gloomy, rainy looking but warmer day.  43°F but predicting rain this afternoon.

No time to address everyone personally.  Just thank you all for the comments on the devotion I posted.  Thank you and God Bless You All.

 :coffee:

It's about 6 am where I live, and I've been awake for some time, reading and washing down my thoughts with a big mug o' coffee.

And I just read John 1.  Here's a bit of what I chewed on...

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. When he got there, he ran across Philip and said, "Come, follow me."  (Philip's hometown was Bethsaida, the same as Andrew and Peter.)

Philip went and found Nathanael and told him, "We've found the One Moses wrote of in the Law, the One preached by the prophets. It's Jesus, Joseph's son, the one from Nazareth!"

Nathanael said, "Nazareth? You've got to be kidding."  But Philip said, "Come, see for yourself."

When Jesus saw him coming he said, "There's a real Israelite, not a false bone in his body."

Nathanael said, "Where did you get that idea? You don't know me."

Jesus answered, "One day, long before Philip called you here, I saw you under the fig tree."  Nathanael exclaimed, "Rabbi! You are the Son of God, the King of Israel!"

Jesus said, "You've become a believer simply because I say I saw you one day sitting under the fig tree? You haven't seen anything yet!  Before this is over you're going to see heaven open and God's angels descending to the Son of Man and ascending again."
