Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus on Being Prepared
Luke 21:25-38 NLT

"And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.  People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.  Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory.  So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!"

Then he gave them this illustration: "Notice the fig tree, or any other tree.  When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near.  In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near.  I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things have taken place.  Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

"Watch out! Don't let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don't let that day catch you unaware,  like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.  Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man."

Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives.  The crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.

What does your schedule today say about your watchfulness?

Jesus told the disciples to keep a constant watch for his return.

Although nearly two thousand years have passed since he spoke these words, their truth remains:  Christ is coming again, and we need to watch and be spiritually fit.

This means working faithfully at the tasks God has given us.  Don't let your mind and spirit be dulled by careless living, drinking, or the foolish pursuit of pleasure.  Don't let life's anxieties overburden you.

Instead, be ready to move at God's command.

Hi everyone.  We start another week today and here in our area we had a wonderful downpour yesterday while we were in church and then some rain later, but not more downpours.  Rain is also predicted for today.  Everything has really greened up thanks to God's abundance to us.

Etta Sue, that is a wonderful devotional.  It would be very frightening if I weren't awaiting the return of my savior.  What a magnificient thing this will be.

Marilyn, I missed your posting over the weekend but knew you had company.

Janet, that sounds like quite a feast and that Abby must have had a royal evening.

We declined to go out with the group yesterday as they were going to this Chinese restruarant which we have just burned out on and the spicy food actually hurts Pat's mouth.  Instead we went to a new place and had a nice lunch and then had a quiet afternoon.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use my laptop last night as couldn't get the charger to work.  I will call the repair place today and then make my decision as to whether to get a new laptop.

Scotty, there are some very interesting names of towns and cities throughout the world.  We have a little town not too far from here called Between and another one called Youth.  In Missouri, where I grew up, there is a little town South of Kansas City named Peculiar.

The only thing on my agenda today is to go to lunch with two men friends.  We have been doing this almost every Monday for several weeks and are finding it very enjoyable.

Hope this is a super day for everyone.

Marilyn

Larry I too am interested in your WW progress. In the last month I have put on a few more lbs than necessary and I must start to journal what I am eating again, I think I need to lose about 8-10 lbs. I have just been eating too good and the deserts  and bread have to go.

It sure is foggy here this morning. Yesterday evening I watched the  helicopters with the buckets hanging from them  flying to the ocean and fillingup then heading back toward the areas east of us and  Blue Lake where the kids live is east of us.

I had an IM from Savannah last night and they are still on the road traveling. They went to Southern California, to visit friends and to got to Disneyland.

I missed my swim this morning because I was so interested in the news on the 700 Club.  So I plan to walk on the treadmill later instead.  Right now I am doing Monday stuff--laundry, cleaning, etc.  Also have several pieces to iron, not my favorite chore.

Etta Sue, great devotional!  I am really fascinated by prophecy teaching, and it is becoming clearer all the time.  Of course, that is scriptural--the prophets were told to "seal the book until the time of the end" which I understand to mean those scriptures would not be understood until the end times.  And I sincerely believe those times are NOW!  So, thanks for posting that.  Is the book you use one that is published new every year, or do you use the same one year after year?  The Word is always fresh and new, but I like the ones you post and am thinking I'd like to look for the book(s.)

Kenneth Copeland has his eldest grandson on the program doing the teaching today.  What a legacy of faith that family is establishing.  What could be better than knowing that your children, grandchildren and on down are walking with and trusting in the Lord?  Wonderful.

I need to play catch up today.  I've been putting off some phone calls and emails I really need to do, so have decided today is the day!

Hello and blessings to all who visit here today!  <3

I'm interested in one of the "signs" being spoken of - "the powers in the heavens shall be shaken."  If by that is meant astronomical disturbances, meteors, comets, etc. hurtling toward the earth, then we are in for some truly terrifying occurances.  I believe we are.  But I also read that these very things will be the signs of His coming, and that right at that point "The Son of Man" shall appear.  Only that appearance will be the most terrifying thing of all to millions upon millions of people on the earth, for they are not ready for Him.  They will call for the rocks and mountains to fall upon them in order to be hidden (which they can't be) from Him.  And Oh the joy of those relatively few who ARE ready!

Thank you, Pat, for moving my devotion to this forum.  We had a terrible lightening storm Saturday evening at about 8pm.  No DSL signa so no internet.  Kitty uses Embarq also and I called her before church yesterday and she was out also.  I called Embarq yesterday after church and after a half hour, it was determined that there was a major problem in my area and that I wasn't the only one affected!!  I told them that to start with.

I called back today at 12:30pm to see if anyone was working on the problem and in less that 15 minutes I had internet again.  But Kitty still didn't have...so I gave her the number the repairman used to call me to tell me mine was fixed.  Good to have caller ID sometimes.

Now I have to get ready for Photo Guild tonight.  I am driving and leaving in less than an hour.

Church was awesome.  Went to Ivalou's church again.  Without looking behind me, I counted over 30 people that I know.  I think I am ready for a change.

Having nothing to do with anything but for the fact that it is interesting IMHO.  I thought I'd share why it is that I know my guardian angel drives an old blue Cadillac...or at least has once.  :)

When my oldest was still in a rear facing car seat and we lived in a different town from my parents, I would drive over to visit them regularly.  There are 2 lanes, and most of the way has a 55mph speed limit.  I typically drive with the flow of traffic, but try not to get over 5mph over the speed limit.  This day there was barely any traffic.  I was going along just fine.  Suddenly a semi-truck was right on my tail.  I could see nothing but grill when I turned around and looked out the back window.  A couple times I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say he got within about a foot from my tail.  He easily could have gone into the fast lane and gotten around me.  If it had just been me in the car I would probably have just started to slow down a little bit till he got so annoyed he either went around me or I suppose, just drove over me.  I had Liam in the back though, and no way would I risk him like that.  So, I pulled over into the fast lane to let him get by.  He followed me over, still on my tail.  I moved again over to the slow lane and so did he.  I'm still a new mommy as Liam is only months old so I'm a bit emotional.

I panic a bit and am praying staring straight ahead at the road.  The next time I look back there is a car length between the semi and me...almost exactly a cadillac length to be precise.  Suddenly this blue older cadillac just barely manages, but squeezes in between the semi and me.  He starts slowing down and is soon a comfortable distance behind me with the semi as close to his back bumper as possible.

Then, I get to where I need to turn off.  Generally, you never have a semi there, because it goes right into a residential neighborhood with fairly narrow streets...heck, the bus even has a hard time with it.  I put my blinker on.  The semi does too.  The caddy doesn't.  I turn, the semi gets in the turn lane and the caddy swerves and stays between the semi and me.  I go on a bit farther to where the road does a Y and I go straight (where the semi would not have been able to follow me at all).  I look back and can see the semi, but not caddy anywhere and there was no place for him to go that would have hidden him from my view for quite a bit.

Even though he was right behind me I do not remember seeing a driver really other than I feel like the driver was a male.  I am usually really good at remembering what things look like.  I can usually remember faces but not have a clue as to the names that go with them.  I can see the car in my head, but the driver...no memory of what he looked like AT ALL.

So, just thought I'd share my story of what I think was my guardian angel.  It makes me laugh that he was driving an old caddy...like a 1980's version, a bit beat up and all.  Just a big boat of a car.

Janet

Etta Sue, glad you're back online!

Ellette, great story--you should send it to Guideposts or a similar magazine!

I'm still playing catch-up, just stopped by to see if there was anything new.  ;)

God is sovereign over all events.  He was totally sovereign over the blue Cadillac and the semi.  He moved in a totally sovereign way to get the Cad where He wanted it.  Ditto with the semi - and you.  You could say that He SENT the Cad.  The meaning of "angel" is actually "send."  So the Cad was, indeed angelic.  We're thankful that He was watching over you.

Carol

Etta Sue:  Thank you for the "Watchful" message.

Ellette:  There are so many times angels are watching over us and you had the super angel helping care for you and your child.

I went to coffee and met three good friends.  They want to meet for lunch before I leave and promise to visit me.  No packing today.  Only that and a haircut.

Welcome back Melody. How long has it been since you were last here? Tell us a litle about yourself to refresh our memories.

Still overcast here, hopefully the sun will burn it off by this afternoon. It does look like it may have rained just a little bit last night as my porch is all wet.

Not much new here to talk about, I'm keeping busy with my work, and my own life doing things around the house, watered the yard yesterday, went to visit a friend where I left my sunglasses on Saturday when we went there to visit. Walked my dogs just doing the usual stuff that I do.

Hi to everyone. Hope you have a great day.

Hi everyone.

I just picked my daughter up at a bus stop about 30 minutes from our house.  She had taken the bus from a downtown station and this worked very well.  In the mornings she cannot go to the bus stop in the town about 5 miles away where she catches it in the evening.  They only take passenger into Atlanta in the morning and out in the evenings.  She and her mother are seeing the chiropractor this morning.

Yesterday Pat did some housework and, as usual, has paid a big price in the pain of her fibromyalgia.  We no longer have a housekeeper to come in and she must find another one.  I sure don't like to see her so uncomfortable.

Yesterday morning I ordered my new Levono laptop and it is to be delivered tomorrow, based on the notice I got this morning.  My friend Rod came over yesterday afternoon and picked up my broken laptop and after 6 hours of tedious work he was able to repair it.  I have given it to him as I wouldn't have had it repaired after finding out it would cost anyway from $150 to $250 for the repair and the laptop is 4 years old.  My friend has given Pat and I a large number of things over the 4 years I have known him and has worked on my computer many times and would never accept pay, so felt that was a way I could express my gratitude in a tangible way.  This is a much better laptop than he currently has.  He didn't want to accept it but I insisted and told him it would give me pleasure for him to accept it and he agreed.  He brought it back to me this morning so I can get off some files I wanted and remove a few programs he doesn't want.  I will be working on that today.

Etta Sue, glad to see that you are back on-line.  Hope you had a good photo-guild meeting.

Ellete, that is quite an experience you had.  It reminds me of an experience my family had many years ago when we were headed back to Kansas City from my parents house about 100 miles north.  We were on a two-lane highway and an approaching car side-swiped the car in front of us and then missed us and went head long into the car behind us.  The driver of the car had apparently had a heart attack and was dead at the scene and there were serious injuries to the driver of the car behind us.  We had a cracked windshield from debris from the front vehicle that had been hit but otherwise we were unscratched but very shaken up.  We later found that my dear grandmother had had a sense of something not right when we left and had been praying for us.  Her prayers certainly were answered  and a guardian angel was protecting us.

Al, your postings above remind me of the "Left Behind" series of book that started with the return of our Saviour.

Janet, hope you took your catching up yesterday in a measured pace so you weren't so tired.

melody

Thanks Marylin for the welcome back. Its been  a while since I have been here. When my  dad passed away my mother found it difficult and it has  been a busy time.
I do seem to remember most of you here.
It is about 75 degrees here now and everything seems to be in bloom .
Seems like my small patch of strawberries will soon be ripe and I will have fresh strawberries in a little while. :)
Hope you all have a great day.

Hi Marilyn!  Sounds like you're keeping busy!  It's been very hot up until today here in Virginia.  I see by my temperature in my signature that it's a bit chillier up in Guelph!

Larry, didn't you have a new laptop when we were there in April?  This crack on my laptop monitor is really bothering me now.  It's started to "bleed".

Hi Etta Sue!

Janet, hope you're keeping out of mischief!  ;)

Mischief, Pat?  ME?? :angel2:     ;)

Larry, it seems you are to be our information man!  Weight Watchers and Laptops........ ^-^

The housekeeper was just here for two hours.  She has gotten to where she gets more done now, especially if I stay out of her way so she can't stop and visit.  I appreciate having her, and her two hours every other week helps us keep the place presentable.  I can spend my time getting rid of the clutter, etc. instead of vacuuming and mopping.

I have to work this afternoon, and I do not want to!  I have decided to give my notice, now that summer is almost over (well, anyway, school is starting here in less than a month!) they should be able to do without me.  I had another sleepless night last night, so am feeling tired.

Beth has been quite ill the past two weeks.  She feels a bit better today.

I am off to hunt some information, if I can get to the correct web page.

Hi everyone.  This is the day my laptop is to be delivered.  It is coming by UPS and I just checked the tracking information and it must be on the truck as it left Forest Park, GA (which is just South of Atlanta) this morning about 3:45 am.  I will be anxiously watching at the window, especially after lunch.  (Isn't this tracking something else.)

Pat, you are correct in that this is my second laptop in the last few months.  The first one I decided to let my daughter use as hers wasn't operating well and this is something she can keep on her bed in easy reach.  She doesn't feel like sitting at a computer very long and this gives her something she can use, not only for her telephone service using Skype, but also to help hours pass.  Much better than watching television all the time.

Happy Birthday, Judy.  Hope you have a very enjoyable and special day to mark the occasion.

Janet, I am happy to see you have decided to give your notice.  It appears from your comments that you really dread having to work these days and if it isn't a necessity to do so then we should honor ourselves by doing what we want to be doing.  So sorry to read that Beth has been so sick the last couple of weeks.  Hope she improves quickly.

Scotty Boy, I will take a look at your pictures when I finish here.

Paul, congratulations.  Wow!  You are going to need a scorecard to keep track although it seems you have all the names and ages well mastered.  Hope you and Pat enjoy our visit as it should be a joyful day.

Melody, in what part of the country do you live?  Our strawberries are long gone for this season.  It sounds like spring is just arriving where you are.

Etta Sue, laptops are wonderful.  I would give up my desktop computer in a flash if I had to make a choice between it and a laptop.  I highly recommend it with a wi-fi system so you can use it anywhere in your house, like in your easy chair.

I spent a lot of time yesterday afternoon removing software and saving copies of files I wanted from my old laptop so I can quickly install them on the new one.

This evening we are meeting our friends for dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then will go to one of their homes to play Mexican Train in dominos.  Our daughter will be with us this evening and she is looking forward to playing the game as well.  I have already figured out what I will be having for dinner and it is within my alloted W.W. points for today.  I am doing very well on the plan and the first day of reckoning will be on Friday.

Time for coffee.  Hope this is a good day for you all.
