JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Work went really well today.  If I could work only those four hours, I wouldn't mind working 5 days a week!  It was quite pleasant.

Ruth Ann, isn't it great to sleep until you feel like getting up?   :)  I had to laugh at Darrel---he told me a while ago that he got up around seven, went to the living room, etc., then about 7:30, he was thinking "She should be getting up any time."  Finally he remembered that I was to go to work at 6!  Good thing I wasn't depending on him to get me up!

Beth was doing well again today.

It's me again. I was the only student in Spanish class at church tonight. Sure was wonderful to go one on one with the teacher. I learned quite a bit and came away excited about ways to progress more quickly in learning the language.

Here are my responses...

1. Finish this sentence Spring flowers may bring...the wonders of buds opening on sunny warm days, tiny flowers in the not-yet-mowed lawn, beautiful purple and lilac and white violets in shady nooks...these bring smiles to my face and happy, contented feelings inside me along with thanksgiving that God planned such a beautiful season of the year

2. What is your favorite spring flower? Ohhhh, it SURELY is a tie between daffodils and irises

3. What is your favorite spring sport?  Walking in the great fresh air

4. What is your favorite spring dessert? strawberries

5. Do you have a favorite spring activity? Having fun at my grandchildren's ballgames

6. What kind of spring garden would you like to have flower, vegetable, or a mixture?  Flowers, including a generous space devoted to five-o'clocks.

7. What is your favorite spring holiday? Memorial Day

8.  In which U.S. state you would find Hot Springs National Park?
     a) Oregon, b) Montana, c) Arkansas, d) Alaska  In Arkansas, of course, but I wonder how many of these states actually have hot springs...

9.  Which movie musical includes the song "Younger Than Springtime"?
     a) Mary Poppins, b) State Fair, c) Anchors Aweigh, d) South Pacific   South Pacific - I also like I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair from the same musical. First time I heard that song, I laughed and laughed at the absurdity of it.

Bonus question: What is your favorite green vegetable? Most anything green...celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, kale, any other leafy dark green veggie. Once I was teased that my children would be born with "round heads and curly green hair" because of my green veggie preference.

Another dreary day in Indiana.  It was raining but at this moment, it isn't raining.

Today is a doctor appointment for my yearly exam.  Ivalou is going with me and then we are going to a book store.  Then get some groceries in for both of us.

That's about it for today!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have the whole day to myself.  We may get some rain later today or we may not.  We had a nice time at the senior center this morning and then 5 of us went to walk at the gym.

Pat is still fighting her cold and is still running a low temperature.  Stacey spent most of the day yesterday a the ER across the street from where she lives.  She was dehydrated as hadn't been able to keep anything down for three days.  They gave her fluids by IV and the blood test showed she no longer had the flu in her system.  The doctor gave her a clearance to go to work today.  We haven't heard from her so hope she was feeling up to going today.

Carol, I know what you mean about dental expense.  Just getting a tooth pulled is going to cost close to $500 and the crown I need is over $1200.  I already spent over $500 for fillings plus the share of the cleaning cost not covered by my dental insurance (which only covers cleaning and x-rays every three years).

I feel rather dumb in that when I answered the survey I didn't even think of Easter as a holiday.

Janet, glad your new job went so well and hope you aren't expected to work more than the hours they told you.  I felt that Beth would feel a lot better once the gallbladder was removed.

Ruth Ann, how long have you been taking Spanish?  How is your son getting along in her apartment?

Janet

Five o'clocks, Ruth Ann??  We used to have four o'clocks--are they the same flower?  Maybe the time difference?   ;)

I'm home from work, have filled Beth's water jugs and am ready to take them back to her.  She hates the chlorinated water in town, and they didn't install a filter anywhere in the new home.  Lots of mistakes in that place.

Time to go for lunch, back later!

Interesting to read that you are studying Spanish, Ruth Ann.  Paul speaks it quite well.  It's so enjoyable to go with him to the supermarket and if he thinks the cashier is from a South American or Central American country, he goes right into the Spanish and has quite a lovely conversation with them and the way their faces light up is so enjoyable to view.

This is from Ray Comfort's Blog:

The spread of the so-called 'swine flu' demonstrates yet again how useless and sometimes deadly a mutation can be. Furthermore, as the infection spreads around the world, the search for an antidote is desperately sought, but the very fact that the virus is seen as something to be opposed actually supports the Biblical view of this world. It is always good and right to oppose sickness, but in evolutionary terms, why don't humans simply resign themselves to it and allow the strong to survive? The evolutionary point of view would say the virus has a 'right' to live, so 'good luck' to it!

Even worse, some people are actually trying to blame God for the pandemic, yet it was Man's original sin which brought disease and sickness into a perfect world. We have no one but ourselves to blame. God offers a cure, but Man refuses it because it does not come on Man's terms.

The fact that living things, and viruses can mutate is part of their design. Change within a species gives organisms the ability to adapt if the environment changes, but mutations almost never adds new information to the DNA, and most mutations are harmful, and they usually subtract information. The trend is down, not up, which absolutely contradicts Darwin.

The great hope for this fallen, diseased, weatherworn world, is the return of Christ, who has promised to bring restoration, everlasting health and peace to all people. Unfortunately, for evolutionists, this cannot be a part of their thinking, because it leads them into the first chapters of Genesis. They would rather believe a silly lie than acknowledge Biblical truth.

How true, Pat!  What Mr. Gunther says is correct - mutation always results, not in adaptation, but in "anti-adaptation" - in harm to the organizm.  If we had evolved via mutation from apes, etc., then we'd all be dead, and there would be no human race.  But Christ is coming again, and then there will be true adapation - to His eternal and perfect environment!  Oh come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Hi, friends,

It's a really, really rainy and stormy day here in Nashville. I went out for a few moments in midday, because I had been so negligent to bring in some personal items from the car including my cell phone. Then, proceeded to the bank and of course, was tempted to pick up something at a drive through restaurant. Don't think I'll do that restaurant again - those 3 chicken fingers were more like "chicken little fingers" --- maybe they used banty hens! At any rate, the price was exhorbitant for such a small serving.

I had not been about to get onto the net today, so finally called the cable company, and the technician kindly and patiently worked me through the fits and starts of unhooking the cable modem, rebooting the machine, etc. until we discovered that the wireless router had become "confused" overnight and needed to be rebooted, too. I warmly thanked her for her kindness.

It's so nice to breathe a sigh of relief and be here online with my online family.

About Spanish class, we've had 1 lesson a week for the last 4 weeks. On hour per lesson, one lesson per week. I'm so thankful for the lady who is teaching us. And, plan to purchase Rosetta Stone to further my Spanish education. It's pretty important to me since I'm due to get a hispanic son in law in a few months. Since his mom hasn't been successful learning English, it's imperative I try really hard to be able to communicate with her. She's such a sweet lady, as are all the family members.

Please tell Paul I surely wish he were close enough to coach me along!

Y'all have a great day.

Ruth Ann

Janet

Good for you, Ruth Ann, learning a new language!  And now....what about those five o'clocks?  (See my last post.)

I worked again this morning, and will again in the morning.  But I don't much care for not knowing more than a day ahead if I will be working or not.  Goodness knows, I have plenty to do otherwise!

I was so frustrated about not having all the photos I ordered at Walmart, even on the discs, which were supposed to have ALL of them.  Well, they called me a couple of days ago and said my photos were ready.  So, obviously, the order wasn't complete when I picked it up or else the guy only looked for ONE envelope.  I have called my dear son-in-law and asked him to pick them up, as he goes to Liberal every Sunday.  OOPS!  I wonder if the photo part is even open on the weekends.........darn!

I'm feeling really frustrated this evening.  There are so many things I want to do and accomplish, and I feel as if I am just spinning my wheels!  Guess I just need to quiet my mind and listen for His still, small voice.

Slow but busy morning....doing nothing but being busy.

My checkup was okay.  My numbers were down even though a couple are still too high.  But I still go back in three months for glucose blood work and an appointment a week later.  After that Ivalou and I went to Borders Book Store.  She had a gift certificate and bought a cookbook for my Secret Sister for Mother's Day.

By then Ivalou and I were hungry so we went to Bob Evans...I love those Wildfire Fried Chicken Salads and the savor size is plenty big enough for a meal.

After that we went grocery shopping.  Now, I wonder what I can have for lunch!

Ivalou is coming over this afternoon and bringing pictures for me to scan.  She purchased one of those Photo Picture frames and I told her I would scan photos and put them on SD card for the frame.  July 22 is her birthday and that's my birthday gift to her.

So I best get my lunch made and eaten!

Oh, yes, Pat.  I'm a Flylady regular!  That's not the kind of organizing I'm in need of just now, more the mental kind, and just deciding which direction I really want to go.

Shirley has asked me to do the cover for her next book, so that gives me yet another project!  (I really needed another one!  ;))  But I am honored that she asked me.

I worked this morning, had very little sleep last night.  I need a nap this afternoon so I can stay awake for the Community Theater's play.

Etta Sue, has your InterStim surgery been scheduled yet?  If you told us, I must have missed it.

Janet, I think those "five o'clocks" I'm talking about must work overtime an hour and then close their petals...maybe like the lady who loves em so much???

I found some great coloring pages for children. One site has 13 sets of Christian oriented coloring pages, as well as many other things for a child to enjoy from an educational standpoint as well as activities for them to do. Y'all may want to check it out for your children/grandchildren.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have just had another brief rainy period.  Last night we had about .4 inches of rain.

This has been a very busy day for me.  Pat is still staying in but seems to be feeling much better this afternoon and we plan to go out to eat in a little while.  I really hate to take our new car out of the garage (where it has been all week) as there is a chance of hail this evening.  However, nothing happening right now.

After a meeting this morning I went shopping for a new TV for our kitchen.  The one we have been using lost one of the color guns and everything was pretty green, including all the food (which isn't a good thing).  I checked at K-Mart and Sam's Club and then went to Walmart and got a Sharp 19" LCD TV.  I brought it home and spent a considerable time trying to get the Dish Network setup to work properly.  After calling their technical support I finally called my son and he walked me right through the process and it works beautifully now.

I had no time for rest today and am feeling a bit weary this evening but will be back to normal after a good nights sleep.

Ruth Ann, it is nice of you to try to learn Spanish.  I am sure it will come in handy over the next years.

Janet, I think you need a few more jobs on your list.  I am worried you are going to run out of anything to keep you busy.  :)  Sure hope you are able to sleep tonight.

Etta Sue, I sure wish Bob Evans would build some places close to us.  We usually try to stop at one whenever we travel to Florida or back to Missouri.

Pat, thanks for sharing that piece by Richard Gunther.

Al Moak

Well, I guess the weather decided to copy Ruth Ann'a weather today, 'cause it's been quite rainy all day so far.  And it's supposed to continue all week as well.  Thanks be to God for watering and refreshing his earth!

Marbeth does the laundry up in the laundry room on Saturday, so she did that this morning.  Then, as a reward, I take her out to lunch.  We ate too much!

Carol

We were in the mountains today and nearly stuck in mud with the SUV.  Our son drove so he was the hero and able to back us out or going forward would have meant going into a choice of a ditch on either side of the road.  Then, a neighbor was stuck - it is mud time in the mountain and rained with a bit of snow.  Our boots had about two inches of mud on them, what a mess we have to clean.  Loved the scenery and fresh air.

Al:  Very nice that you took Marbeth out for lunch.  Yes, we are so thankful for this rain and snow - the reservoirs should be filled.

Pat

Ohhh, how romantic, Alan!  How lovely that you took Marbeth out to lunch.  I was reading in an article that any marriage needs romance and special dates like this so bravo!

Carol, how awful!  I'm so happy that you were able to get out of that mud! Wow!
