Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

I kinda think that I started something with tires, we are just in the process of replacing with a resale but if the dealer does not approve it will not be put on our van, but I do feel that for a slow moving veh. such as a tractor for the lawn why not use the used as it sure helps the budget.

Judy or Pat:  How about giving me some to the Amish bread starter or is there a way to start one myself.

I turned the computer on to do the banking and thought I would check in before completing the paper work and filing I always keep a paper trail then after 5yrs do the shredding.  Jeanne I make a mess as well then out comes the vacuum for the clean up and usually the house gets a real good cleaning.

I am trying to read a book on line which is a first for me, it is good that the chapters are short as book marking is difficult unless there is a click of the button that I do not know how to do.

I worked steadily all afternoon and evening, so I got a lot done yesterday.  I am home from work and have gathered photos to send to my cousin who is writing a family history book.  I also will take beads and boas to the care home.  Each neighborhood is decorating for a different theme, the one I am working on is using Mardi Gras.  Beth's is Wizard of Oz.  They were having a scavenger hunt when I left this morning, then are having an indoor picnic (probably over by now.)  These are all activities for National Nursing Home Week.

Beth is feeling some better, I am happy to report.  Her surgeon came to see her yesterday and said that with other patients who can get up and walk, he tells them recovery time will be two weeks, but she needs an additional two weeks because she cannot be up and walking.  He approved my moving her arms around; said any kind of movement is helpful.  I also got Mom's talking books machine set up for her, with her headphones turned to the volume she needs, book queued up to the beginning, and she knows all she needs to do is get the headphones on and push the green button.  Hope she enjoys.  Beth got a machine and some books, too, along with a pillow speaker.

I need to go to town and do those errands, then have more work waiting here---when do we not?  Do you know anyone who is ever truly caught up?  Reminds me of a little story I once heard:

This little black lady was counseling her granddaughter who was getting married and said, "Now, honey, you just don't need to think that you will ever be caught up on your work.  You work and work all day, get everything done, go to bed, and while you are sleeping, sheets is a-wrinkling, dust is a-settling, and stomachs is getting empty!"

So we keep on keeping on!

Janet:  So true - retirement - oh, sure.  I will say that I don't stay up until 11 doing laundry and ironing - marriage and retirement .  You had better be prepared to stay busy and not think about it.

Ruth:  I'll have to try your Tim Horton's coffee sometime.  Will they have it in Vancouver Island?

Larry:  Just after you sent the pdf to me, I made 2 copies of the Bernina stitches and wouldn't you know that that is when I spotted my original tucked under one little piece of cloth.   Thanks for your help.  It is probably a very good idea for me to have one copy in the carrying bag.  You were sure Johnny-on-the-spot this morning.

Etta Sue:  LOL on your raring to go today.  I hope that you had a phone call.

Ruth

Carol:   I am not sure but I would think Tim Horton's would be on the island but for sure the main land they are all over Canada just like McDonald's

Just back from the  walk-in clinic Urgent Care. It turns out that it is not an allergic reaction to the Gabapentin for the neuropathy that I am on but  some kind of dermatitis. I was given a prescription for a Corto-steroid cream  to use very sparingly for only two weeks, if It is still there they will refer me to a dermatologist. I've had this rash/very red eyelids/peeling/burning/itching for 6-8 weeks I kept thinking it would go away and  tried all kinds of creams but nothing  worked only made it worse.

Just yesterday I went to pick up my prescription for my Advair that I have used off and on for years but had stopped using 2 years ago. It is for my Asthma. My Doctor from California called it in for me and the insurance company that covered it before now wants me to just take the Singulair pills only that she also prescribed. Another case of the pharmacy insurance Company dictating our medications. Bah Humbug!!! to put it nicely.

Ruth I have sent you an email with the recipe for the "starter".  Let me know how it works.

This has been a fairly quiet day.  I had to go into town to take Kass to a Dr's appt. and when we got home the dogs were all tangled.  They are all sorted out and fed so we are off to bed.

Janet, take it easy.  You can't over do it with a new job.  You really have a lot on your plate.  Do you still go swimming?  When you were in Tailand did you go diving?  Will we see the pictures?  I am getting anxious can you tell?

Pat are you still in Canada, or have you headed back to the DC area?

Well it is late and i am heading to bed Night all.

JudyB

It is early and raining.  We had heavy winds last night, that have actually continued this morning.  The wind was causing an unusual noise that echoed through the entire house.  At about 1:00 the power went out and try as I might I couldn't see where the noise was coming from.  You know the sound of metal being played with?  It was that sound.  I had a hard time sleeping, I wondered if the roof was coming off.  Well I did sleep and this morning we saw what was causing the noise.  The soffits  (sp) were vibrating in the wind just outside our bedroom.  What a noise that was.

I took the girls to the bus, it was raining and they would have been soaked before they got to the toad.  The bus was a little late.  I found out that they know each and every car that passes, which ones wave and which ones speed.  The last vehicle that is last before the bus waves and if the bus is running late he will tap his wrist to let them know.  These are the joys of living in the country!  It is interesting to hear their experiences.

I was listening to the weather report for our long weekend.  Today the temperature is dropping to the point on Sunday it will only be 35F and that will include frost at night with temps of 28F.  Brrrr this is supposed to be spring!  I feel sorry for the people who are camping! Actually I think they are crazy!

Well I am off for now
Have a good day folks.

Etta Sue

No, I didn't get a phone call until 9pm asking me to go with Ivalou this morning so she can get a blood draw and then go out for breakfast.  I told her if I had known earlier, I would but that I had to get up this morning and get ready to go to 60 Chix.  I thought I would finally get caught up with TV shows that I had recorded but I didn't...still behind.

And what a night we had last night!  Wow!  Thunder, lightening, rain.  Everything is soaked today.  Water standing everywhere.  Sump pump is pumping, too!  The field across the road shows an interesting pattern of water in the rows of whatever is planted.  The sun is shining right now but it is suppose to rain more today!

Kitty is coming to take me to 60 Chix today.  I think we will have a nice crowd.  People are home from Florida now!

I have been enjoying and seeing the conversations, seems real nice to just drop in and tell how your day has been going-Very communtiy...but I've been hesitant as it seems like I'm butting in---on the other hand I am going to do a quick drop in...

Hi-the weather had been cold here over two three nights ago, we had to build a fire to take the chill out of the house, had to scrape frost off the windshield for work! As for outside, quite windy. I'm usually out there but feeling a bit overwhelmed with more weeding-turning over, etc, I do it by hand as it is already established flower gardens and beds. But we decided to make an enclosure for my Grandson to go into for the shade from the sun, made out of sunflowers and cosmos-that still may change, but the trench the kids dug for the out line looks quite challenging, hard and clayish....uhhhh, not sure if I'm ready for that and a new bed for vegetables, next to it. that was where the 'compost pile' pile was but now converting to veggie bed...Still needs work, though....

My Grandson and I planted Gladiolas yesterday-What a great little helper and he so loves it outside....We'll have him til Sat or Sun...

Well hope that wasn't to much for a quick drop in---God bless you and your day!

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

Well, it was certainly a busy day for me yesterday.

First, a car repair. Then back to do a load of laundry. Then, just enough time to wolf down a sandwich and head for the ear doctor. Yep - another infection, so he has me on Cipro and a Cipro ear drop, too. Next was my regular doctor. He "twiddled" with my medications, adding some, changing some, etc.

After that, there was just enough time to pick up something at the drive thru and get to ladies prayer meeting at the church.

Afterward, I visited a friend and took her an arm brace that she needed.

Lastly, had a conversation with my hospitalized friend's daughter.

So, didn't see much of the internet yesterday. <wry grin>

Now, I'm off to the other apt tower for a gathering up there.

What was that y'all told me about being busier after retirement than before????

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Juanita where do you live? Your flower and vegfie gardens sound like they are going to be great.

Ruth Ann you sure are keeping busy. I too have really been too busy to do much visiting on the computer, I do go to S&F pretty frequently, and I am still working on my PSP lessons and trying to get at least 1 sent in every day. We can send in up to 3 in 24 hours.

I am not working  and I am not going to look for a job, financially it will not be worth it for me to work and  not get food stamps. They would stop or cut back if I make about $200 per month.and that is not possible I would be making more than that.

I have Spaghetti sauce cooking on the stove, as load of laundry in the dryer and now I need to go do the kitchen floor, Gotta get busy.

Sounds like you're fitting right into that saying Ruth Ann  ;)  I, on the other hand, have become more and more "go with the flow" in my old more mature years.  :)  I wrote, in an email, to my daughters that I felt a bit lazy, and Dot replied "I think you've earned the right to be lazy if you want to."  Aaawww.

Today I will be going to donate blood.  I was scheduled to do that last month but Joy and John were here and I didn't feel like leaving them for even that short time.  I don't see family very often, y'know.

In fact, I am (loosely) planning another drive to California next week.  Joy tells me she has made contact with two of Jean's kids and they are talking about wanting to keep in touch with family.  That's good news.    While I am there I will go on to Yountville to visit with Tom ... maybe have these two along to see Grandpa.  I noticed there were no sign-ins on his visitors page when we were there the last of January.  :(

It's good to see you here Juanita    I can't remember where you live, but it seems you are doing some big-time outdoor renovation -- earth moving,  ;)  Grandkids are great fun, too!  Care to tell us about them?  Hey! You're not "butting in" ... join the group whenever you can.  We're here for you, any time. :grouphug:

Carol, you stay almost as busy as Janet and Etta Sue!  I don't have all that much energy and, even if I did, there's not any need for it around here.  Nothing to be in charge of and no one who needs my "help."  :-\

I have found myself becoming overwhelmed at times with the burdens people carry.  That will keep me from posting here because I feel mere words are so inadequate to express my heart.  I do pray for each of the needs expressed, though.  It's just that y'all don't know that.  Sorry.  :-[

Well, I guess I've overstayed my "brief" visit ... I'll be back, tho, y'all take care now y'hear? All y'all just carry on.

P.S. Marilyn you were posting while I was typing ... Hope your medical issues get straightened out quickly.  I know it must be frustrating to have to deal with new doctors/insurance people.  Hang in there.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  You all have really been a busy bunch since I posted last.  I have read through all the postings but will not try to respond to many this afternoon as have some other things I need to do.

First of all, Juanita, let me assure you that no one feels that someone is interfering when they begin to post.  We like very much to have new folks join with us and hopefully post often.  In a very short time you and we will feel like we know each other.

Carol, glad you found your sewing card and something in the back of my mind told me you would when you didn't need it anymore.  I don't know how many times that has happened to Pat and I.  It is easy for something to get covered up accidentally.  Think nothing of it as enjoyed the opportunity to practice scanning and preparing the PDF using Word and a free PDF program.

Janet, so glad that Beth is feeling better and able to enjoy some of the activities this week at her home.  The book reader devices sound like a wonderful thing for her.

This has been a relaxed but busy day.  Pat and I went to Sam's Club and managed to spend a bundle in food items and some other items, including an Igloo cooler on wheels that will be so useful in taking frozen things from our house to our daughter.

Last evening I started using Picassa to manage my photos and am really impressed with it.  With each Google Account you have (and you can set up more than one) you can have 1 gig of photo storage and then access them over the web from your Google page.  I have now uploaded all of the photos I have on CD and that I had accumluated on my computers.  My next step is to go to my Snapfish albums and begin to eliminate duplicates and then download the photos I put up there but didn't keep on my computer.  I don't think there were too many of those but it will take awhile.  Then I want to work on captioning a lot of the photos.  These albums can be shared with others as you wish.

Stacey's job at the IRS is about to end for this season.  Each year the season gets shorter as more people file electronically.  She has received a call back number for next year.

Marilyn

My eyelids are feeling better already, I forgot to tell y-all that this morning when I was here.

Janet

:sleepy:  That's the way I feel today.  I didn't sleep at all well last night but thought "oh, well, it's all right, I can sleep in because I don't have to work today."  WRONG......they called me at 6:30 and asked me to come in.  Somebody didn't show up, somebody else was sick, etc.....so I worked.  When I got home, I sat down to watch the 700 Club and promptly fell asleep, and woke up when it was over.  That makes every day this week, right through the weekend I will be working.  Darrel and I had planned to go to Garden City today, but he was feeling so bad when I got home we decided not to go, nothing we need that can't wait a few more days.

No, Judy, we didn't go scuba diving in Thailand.  We were in central and northern Thailand, and the good diving is in the south, around Phucket.  And yes, I would like to post some photos, but will need to learn how again, as I haven't posted one in a long time.  I certainly took a lot of photos, and have some really nice ones.  Thanks for asking!  ;)

Juanita, good to have you posting!  Nobody ever thinks anyone is "butting in" as we just enjoy sharing each others' lives and daily "doings."  Jump right in, anytime!

The Activities director at the home had called me last night to ask if I would draw some things on a big board for their residents' games today.  Since I was busy working, she came in and took over the re-setting the tables, etc., so I could do the drawings.  I would have liked to stay for the games, but came home, intending to go to Garden.  It was "Crazy Hair Day" today, and some people really had crazy hair!  One of the CNAs spiked Beth's hair up in a row down the middle, then painted it green and pink with that punk stuff.  I took a picture of her with my cell phone, have no idea how to retrieve it, though.

I need to do a few things here.  If I don't get with it, I won't be ready for my class coming up the first week of June!

Samantha

Hi all, I have a prayer request that I want to share.  My best friend has been having problems with her heart (It beats too fast) They have been trying to fix it now for several years.  She is just 40.  I texted her a while ago and she said she was back at the hospital because of it.  She works in the hospital as a respiratory therapist and today was her day off!  She was short with her answers but I asked her if it was bad, and she said yes.  The last episode she had with this was just a few months ago, and she felt like she would die then.  Please pray for her.  She has always been there for me when I need her, and  I can't let her down now.   Her husband drives a truck long haul and they have 2 kids at home.   Her name is Tammy, and she is the one who got Terry to go to church years ago.  She means a lot to me.

Thanks,
Samantha

(I put this here because I thought it might get seen quicker)

Samantha:  Prayers on the way for a true diagnosis and treatment.

Marilyn:  Great - your eyes are better.

Janet:  Here we go again - I mean, here you go again.  Too many calls interrupting your life - I can't abide people who do not show up for work and that puts such pressure on others.  I hope Darrel feels better soon.

Don has a physical tomorrow and we are selling our Honda van - boy, will we miss it but several reasons.  1:  the garage here is very narrow 2:  We want a really good mpg on a little city car - will keep the 4-wheel for the mountains & hauling stuff.  Don wants to go awhile before buying a 2nd. car  (shocking idea to me).  We can do this with a little more planning.

Did I tell you that a bear was in the neighborhood?  They are monitoring the bear - I am sure that the black bear is on his/her Ipod calling in the location.

Wow-everyone is so nice-thank you for welcoming me in...I don't have much contact for friendship outside my little world-God, family, garden, birds, and camera to take pics and enjoy it all!!! I am a stay at home Mom. We have one decent running vehicle-I have been thinking of taking a part time job just to be able to have contact with others...I'm not stuck at home but just don't have many friends close by...So glad I can be a part of a wholesome community-Thank you...and looking forward to getting to know everyone :)

I love for new people to start posting...what a classy way to receive a new friend!

About my doings...yesterday 60 Chix was great.  We had 11 people at Olive Gardens.  It is a new restaurant and really nice and clean...and noisy!  Seems everyone was raising their voices to be heard.  Then people started to leave and it calmed down some.  One of the girls was planning on coming but didn't.  I found out last evening that she is in the hospital.  She has several health concerns...one being she has a pacemaker and this ER then hospitalization was due to her heart.  Today she is to have either a heart cath or stress test!  If you would, say a prayer or two for Billie Lou.

Then when I went out to get mail from the mail box I noticed Ivalou had company from Minnesota.  So I had to go visit awhile with Jim and Emily, Ivalou's brother-in-law and wife.  They used to live in Albuquerque and Ivalou and I were there twice for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta!

Then it was TV watching.  I finally got caught up!  Hurray!

Today is some laundry after making three greeting cards on the computer.  It sure is bright and sunny outside...hope it dries up some puddles so I can mow again tomorrow!

I need to go to WalMart for some things but just not motivated yet!

Judy thanks for the bread email  I will give it a try in the next 2 wks.

Juanital:  Welcome and keep posting.

Samantha:  How is your friend today?

The street we live on is a direct short distance between the junior and senior schools so just a few minutes ago I heard the little ones headed to the senior school for some kind of program, it is a very safe walk for them and yes they have adults along with them. It is nice to hear the little ones chatting as they go.

My sears catalogue is in so I will head out to pick that up then go to the post office for the mail.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Our weather turned very warm today and it has been nice with no rain as had been predicted.

We attended a nice luncheon today that Pat had some responsibilities in organizing and it was very much a success.  We both came home tired so rested awhile.  Don't have anything else on the agenda for today although expect Pat to suggest we go out for dinner this evening.  She cooked a very good steak dinner last night so doubt that she will want to cook tonight.

Tomorrow I will drive down to Macon, GA to attend a meeting starting at noon tomorrow and ending about noon on Sunday.

Janet

Hi, Larry!  You and Pat do stay busy, don't you?  But if we aren't busy, I think it could get boring.  (I'll have to try that someday, just to see if my theory proves out.)  ;)

Yes, Carol, I know how you feel.  Two things I cannot stand are laziness and not being dependable.  :P  Aggravating!  And....the sick gal was there today, working!  She could barely breathe, and was practically begging them to let her go to the doctor!   :ticked:  Crazy.

Good news--Beth was feeling some better today, was actually up and eating toast and drinking orange juice!  She usually doesn't eat breakfast at all.

Ruth, I, too, love listening to children's voices.  I have been to a convention a few years ago where kids weren't allowed, and didn't hear any kids for several days.  I really missed that!

Etta Sue, I love those cute turtles!  Glad you had a good time at 60Chix.  You are just a little social butterfly!  ;)  Glad you are able to go and do and enjoy.  Good for you!

Juanital....I am Janet, I live in the Southwest corner of the state of Kansas, with my husband Darrel, cat Dinah and dog Sarah.  I love traveling, scuba diving, photography, reading, painting and scrapbooking.  Tell us what you enjoy--I know gardening already.  :)

Samantha, prayers for your dear friend.

When I got home, Darrel told me our little dog, Sarah, is in the "hospital."  Seems she was sitting in the chair with him, started shivering, then shaking, then went into convulsions.  He took her right to the vet, and her BP was fine, and no internal bleeding.  They gave her three shots before they got her calmed down.  He has just gone to see about her.  Poor little Sarah..... :( :'(

Time to do stuff, as usual!

Juanital:  I checked your bio and see that you are in Ohio.  Nice that your weather is warm enough to begin planting.  I live near Denver, Colorado and at our altitude it isn't a good idea to plant anything new for a while.  The temp just the other night was 39* F.  Nippy out there.  However, we have some above normal days coming soon.  Good luck on your search for a part-time job!

Janet:  Beth had a good morning - how nice for her and you as well

Samantha

Thank you all for praying for my friend.  She got to come home this afternoon with orders to have no more stimulants of any kind. She is bad to take diet pills. I think she will need help to get off the pills, but praise God, she's still here?

juanital ~ I was going to tell you that we are neighbors.  And we are as such as our state lines are common but you are next to Pennsylvania and I am central Indiana.  Distant neighbors!

I mowed yesterday afternoon.  Funny.  I heard Ivalou mowing so I checked the weather for today and decided I should mow yesterday also.  Then before I got done, Kaye Don mowed also.  It is nice when all of us have our yards neat and trimmed at the same time.  And it rained during the night last night and is gloomy today with lower temperatures.  So glad I got the chore done yesterday.

I need to go to the drug store for some meds today.  I think I will call Kitty and see if she wants me to run a pamphlet to her.  And maybe get a Subway before coming home.

Etta Sue my favorite sandwich is a  $5. footlong from Subway I always get the Spicy Italian with everything except Jalapeno's and Cucumbers. I always think I am only going to eat half and end up eating the whole sandwich.

Marilyn - are you in Coos Bay or are you in North Bend?  And is there a Subway up there?  We've been in both places, but not real often.  Been to Bandon more often, then usually go on over to Coquile, then over to Roseburg and either north  or South on I-5.

It's overcast here right now, though it's supposed to clear sometime today.  Then there's supposed to be a warming trend.

Juanita - I'm a pastor, though I have no charge right now.  I guess I'm suppposed to be retired.  I do preach at our church occasionally.  We're in McKinleyville, Calif., which is just a bit north  of  Eureka along what is (rightly) called the "Lost Coast."  I've been through your part of Ohio, though not for many years.  We've got some dear friends that will very shortly be moving to Athens, Ohio, over in the sutheast corner of the state.  Have you lived all your life in the  Ohio area?  The only thing I remember that I don't like there is the winters.

Al I am in North Bend although just barely in NB, The Coos Bay sign is just  about 2 blocks away, and yes there is a Subway Sandwich shoppe here and a Wal*Mart Supercenter, Safeway, Albertson's, K Mart and Bi-Mart too. We even have a mall with Ross and Macy's etc.  Did you think we are back country or what.   :uglystupid:

Just don't tell me you have an Olive Garden, a Red Lobster, a TGIFridys, etc.  After all, we're on the Lost coast, so you should be on the still loster coast.
