JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

GUESS WHAT???  This weekend is the Snake River Birds of Prey Festival and I went down there this morning and I got to go to a burrowing owl lecture and tour!  I got to hold baby burrowing owl chicks!  We went out to the burrows and dug up two of them.  These are ones that are artificial so they can study them.  We also saw natural burrows but, of course, we did not disturb them.  The babies are so cute!!!  I will put pictures up as soon as I can.  Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone take my picture holding one. :(

It was such an awesome experience!  I'm doing a happy dance today!

It has been dismal here all day although the sun did shine for a few minutes around 4 p.m.

The afghan that I had started a month or so ago got torn apart and just this afternoon I started one with the wave pattern using up odd balls of yarn and if I do not like this idea it will be going in a bag to forever be gone yarn. The yarn that has been put in the bag will be going to a gal that works with a group making articles for the needy.

Our dinner this evening was pizza, then I think in a little while we will be having a bowl of fresh fruit.

Juanital:  I live in Ontario Canada, I drove school bus for many years and in my now retirement years I enjoy knitting sewing along with various other crafts and reading as well. My husband does the yard work and I do the enjoying.  We have an adult son & daughter as well as one adult granddaughter our sweetheart.

That is also Beth's favorite kind of sandwich from Subway.  And we have one (Subway, that is) here in our little town!  ;)

Well, I have two pieces of sad news to report this evening.  I told you about our little dauchund, Sarah, yesterday.  Well, she was still seizing after five hours, so the decision was made to put her down.  The vet had no idea what caused it.  Darrel came home so sad....... :'( :'( :'(

And this morning, as I was finishing at work, one of the CNAs from Beth's neighborhood came to tell me that she wanted me to come see her before I went home.  When I did, she had bad news....she has developed a pressure sore on her bottom, and it has already broken open.  This has been a concern for a long time.  She had to stay in bed all day today, and they turned her from side to side.

I was talking to my sister, whose daughter works in Home Health up there.  She said they use wheat germ oil to treat those sores, with excellent results.  It is actually formulated for use on dogs and horses, but it works wonders on people, too.  I got some at a farm store, it has Vitamins A, D and E, Wheat germ oil, and lanolin.........certainly nothing that could hurt anyone.  I bought a tube of it and took it to Beth.  She will ask the girls to use it on her.  If there is a problem, I will take it to her doctor for his approval.  I just pray it heals her up, and quickly.

They had a huge auction at the former building of the care home today, selling furniture, beds, kitchen equipment, office equipment, wall decorations, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.  It lasted all day, I think.  There were only three things I wanted, and I wasn't sure they were going to sell those, so I didn't stick around all day to see.

I need to find something to eat and get to bed early.  Have to work again in the morning.

I finished proofreading/editing Shirley's next book this evening.  I love that job!

Hi everyone! its 10:30pm EST and I have been busy and feeling quite accomplished...I have my corner of upper garden turned over, transplanted and God took care of the watering this afternoon...I still have one small portion that should take maybe an hour to do...then I can finish sowing seeds, mostly annuals but I'd like to fill up more with perennials eventually...

Carol-"Nice that your weather is warm enough to begin planting."Yes it's been nice lately I had turned over my lower garden about mid April and have been working on upper one-I became interested in flower gardening bout 7yrs ago-by chance...it's like a bug bit me.

Etta Sue-Yay-distant neighbors. Do you travel much?

Al Moak-Mckinley California? is that anywhere near Klamath? That's where my Mom currently lives as well as family in Crescent City?-My Maternal mother's family is originally from Klamath...but as a child we lived up and down the coast mostly from Reedsport down to Crescent City...Lived in land to in Portland ORe...I still have relatives in the Coos Bay/North Bend area, so does my husband...and Beautiful Bandon by the sea, Coquiile and Roseburg...I miss the coast and everything about Oregon....

Al I am in North Bend although just barely in NB, The Coos Bay sign is just  about 2 blocks away, and yes there is a Subway Sandwich shoppe here and a Wal*Mart Supercenter, Safeway, Albertson's, K Mart and Bi-Mart too. We even have a mall with Ross and Macy's etc.  Did you think we are back country or what.   :uglystupid:
Ahhh-is it still called Pony Village? I am so excited to here the names of very familiar places...I'm surprised the Bi-Mart (and Kmart, too)is still there it seemed to have gotten run down after they put Walmart in. I use to work at Joann Fabrics catty corner from Bimart and Albertsons. Albertsons was my favorite grocery shopping place...but I made rounds all the way to Fred Meyers...

Hi, friends,

Juanita, yes! it's wonderful when each poster begins "talking to us." :)

What a day this has been (yes, I KNOW it's quarter to 3 a.m.). Midweek, Comcast recommended that I upgrade to their new Comcast toolbar.

Not a good idea. When I started to open Microsoft Word today to get the PowerPoints done for this morning's worship service, I couldn't open any of the 3 files that contain the information fed to me from others in the church.
Well, that started an ordeal that lasted until 1 minute till midnight.

Finally, I contacted Comcast, and after all sorts of questions and responses from me, we determined I should uninstall that pesky toolbar.
Now, Word works great!  :P

I guess I'm keyed up, because I only got an hour and a half of sleep before awakening and needing to get back up.

Gotta go back to sleep - church starts in only a few hours!
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Beautiful morning in Indiana!  Bright and sunny but cold.  Only 48 degrees!  But I am NOT going to wear a jacket to church!

Juanita ~ Yes, I love to travel.  If I had my way...and the money...I would be on the road every day!  But since I don't have the money...or a cat sitter all the time...I stay home.  And isn't it wonderful that there are folks on here that you may have passed shoulder to shoulder to when you lived out west?  I see by Google Earth, you live in a smaller town than I live near!

Yesterday was a great day.  I did go to the drug store and then to SubWay.  My favorite is a 6" Veggie Delight on wheat!  And since I had a razzle dazzle...a migraine headache without the headache...I got the Meal Deal.  That meant a Diet Coke with the caffeine in it.  It worked and took the fuzzy head away!  I have never eaten a foot-long.  Always stuffed with a 6 incher!

Then I worked with the computer and the Guild roster.  I love looking addresses up on Google Earth to see where people live!  But from a couple of addresses, I see they must live in an open field!!

I am all ready to leave for church.  I am picking up another lady today...her driver isn't going today.

JANET I am so sorry about your little dog.  It is sad to loose a family member.  I hope you have some good pictures.

Juanita - Klamath is approx. 30 minutes north of here.  We've lived in Portland, Tigard, Tualatin, West Linn, and Oregon City.  Lived in Oregon from 1959 to 1963, and again from 1970 until 1988, so we're very, very familiar with the Oregon coast.  Weather wise, the area we live in now is the best - not quite as rainy as Portland, but not dry/hot/humid like the Bay Area, etc.

Jane Walker

Juanita!  You're talking about everything I am quite familiar with around here.  Yep ... that'd be Pony Village Mall ... JoAnn Fabrics has moved  ... and  lots of other stores have made their appearance ... I've never seen a Denny's here in the nearly 9 years I've been here.  Now, Nita could tell you lots more 'cause she's been around here since -- FOREVER!!   :D

It's great to get acquainted with all y'all like this.

Janet, I'm sorry to read of your little Sarah's loss.  Did they ever determine what was causing her seizures?

Nice that you can help Shirley with her book -- when will this next one be published?  Do you get to share in the royalties?   :D

Ruth Ann ... you surely had a time with the PowerPoint presentation ... I think, often, all the "recommended" things are just more headache than they're worth.   :-\  Glad you finally got it all sorted out and can get some rest (even if it's only a few hours) ... you can always take a nap this afternoon, y'know.

Etta Sue ... Do you google earth all of us?  Next time you do mine, let me know, and I'll stand out in the yard and wave!

Sorry I have not responded to everyone ... it's not that I haven't read what you've posted, I just don't have the time to do that.  :-\ I really hope each of you, my friends, has a lovely Sunday with the Lord ... enjoy whatever and wherever you happen to be and always know that Someone is loving you, right where you are.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Thanks, Jane, for those encouraging words.  What would we do without the love and mercy of God?? ???

No, they don't know what caused poor little Sarah's seizures.  Guess we will never know....... :'(

Beth's bed sore isn't very large, but it is on one of her fibroma nodules.  I don't know if she will be allowed out of bed today or not.......

Juanita, what a nice, chatty post!  Yep, three of our members are in the Coos Bay area now.  You gals could have a "mini-bash!"   :)

Jane, speaking of royalties---do you know anything about getting a book published by one of the publishing houses?  I'm trying to get information so I can help Shirley.  This book is a novel, based on the stories a foster brother has told us about his life; and then her imagination helps it along, too.  Really good, but not quite finished yet. She was having a book signing at a Hastings book store yesterday, then another event of some kind today, with Dust on the Dishes."

Sorry about the lost sleep, Ruth Ann, but glad you got the problem solved.  Computers can be such an aggravation!!

Hello, Al.  How are your legs doing these days?

Thanks, Judy.  We sure miss the little dog, especially Darrel, as she was always in the chair whenever he sat down.  Dinah the cat is lost without Sarah, too, really lonesome.  They were such good pals.

Hi, Etta Sue!  Where would you like to travel next?  Is your want-to list mostly in the States?  And wouldn't it be fun to be independently wealthy, so we could do and go whenever we wanted to?   :D

I finally have a day off tomorrow, but we have to be in Amarillo by 10 AM, so that means getting up really early again.

Juanita that Casino you mentioned is right on 101 just past Newmark. The casino is where the mill used to be. I am on tower about 1½ blocks off Newmark and  1 block up the hill from 101.  I too lived in Mckinleyville and know Brother Al personally. I moved  to North Bend  in March of this year. We vacation at Sunriver resort  10 miles south of Bend Oregon.

Janet I am so sorry for the loss of your little dog, I know you and Darrel are brokenhearted.  I will be praying for Beth's pressure sore to heal quickly and without any complications.

Jane it is so nice to see you so "chatty" today.

Yep there are 3 of us here in this area now, Jane is about  1½-2 miles from me and I am not sure where Nita lives but I think it is about 3-4 miles from here, I guess it is about time the 3 of us got together again.

This week I will be taking Happy and Bebe to Puppy Love for another visit, I want them to be familiar with the people who will be boarding them when we go on vacation next month. The will be staying at a private horse boarding facility operated by the owners of Puppy Love, They will be boarded in a 12 X 12 horse stall and get to go for walks every day, then they will both be bathed and groomed before coming home.

Hi everyone.  I was away all weekend and got home about 4 pm this afternoon.  It rained on the drive for most of the way home.  It was a good weekend but really tiring.  Glad to be home.

Janet, so sorry to hear of the sore that Beth has developed.  My dad suffered so with a stage 4 bedsore he had when he wasn't turned during a hospital stay.  It finally took some surgery to allow it to heal before he found relief.  Sorry about your little dog.

Going to be brief tonight as just don't have the energy to write more.  I should be rested tomorrow.

Al Moak

Thanks, Janet, for asking about the  legs.  I'm thankful to say that the swelling is definitely  under complete control at present.  Every second or third night I wear some special pressure garments to keep it under control, and they seem to do the job.  Now it's just a matter of doing some special exercises for the  rotator  muscles in the  left hip.  If that works, then maybe I'll be able to sleep in my bed again.  That'd be wonderful!  Then we could go on overnight trips once in  a  while.
