JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Prays
John 17:1-26 NLT

After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you.  For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him.  And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.  I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.  Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.

"I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word.  Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you,  for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me.

"My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you.  All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory.  Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.  During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.

"Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy.  I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.  I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.  They do not belong to this world any more than I do.  Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.  Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.  And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.

"I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.  I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

"I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one.  I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.  Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

"O righteous Father, the world doesn't know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me.  I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them."

Where do you find yourself in this prayer?

Jesus didn't ask God to take believers out of the world but instead to use them in the world.

Because Jesus sends us into the world, we should not try to escape from the world or avoid all relationships with non-Christians.  We are called to be salt and light (Matt.5:13-16), and we are to do the work God sent us to do.

Happy Anniversary to you....... Paul and Pat
the sermon today was on Joy and virtually the same passage that you have in devotions.  After service, we went into the commons area and signed huge cards going to service men & women associated with the church who are in the war zones.  Several sheets on the names & some info about each.   Oh, and another great thing was there was a donation bucket as you exited the chapel for the members who are out of work and suffering.  Did I tell you that we turn and go onto Grace Boulevard to get to the church past the huge football stadium and track field that they have at the high school?  Love the name of the street.

Don just helped me hang a little curtain in our bathroom and we were going to ready a room for painting today but he is tired from working at the cabin putting in electrical outlets yesterday.

Both of us have some dental work this coming month & not looking forward to the big bills that must be paid on those days.  Grateful that we can get the work done.

Etta Sue Can you transfer the other notes to Pat and Paul?

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY, PAT AND PAUL!!

My presentation for Sunday School was well received, and they were still eagerly asking questions when the time ran out.  Praise the Lord.

Darrel and I will be going out to the cemetery to put the flowers on all the Damon graves there this afternoon.  But before that, I feel a little nap coming to get me.  ;)

Jeanne, I will likely be contacting you for help sometime in the not too distant future, for posting some photos.  Thanks in advance.  :)

Stopping in for a minute to say Hi!  We are having great weather on the island today and I want to get outside with my book and soak up some of the long missing sunshine.

Happy Anniversary Pat & Paul.

Nice devotional, Etta Sue.  Thanks.  I have been coming to read but not taking time to post.  Not much to comment on.  Was busy looking after the 6 rabbits, 2 1/2 cats while the kids were away in the States.  Went for an overnight in Victoria with my friend from up island.  She left hubby at home to sit with the dogs.  Friends from Calgary were in town.  We had fun.

Have been playing with FaceBook and Twitter, still trying to figure things out.  Please feel free to join me as a friend.  I need people to talk to.......

Glad you are okay Jane.  Hope the rest of your visit if great.

Now I am going to go and take a cup of tea into the garden and finish my mystery story.  It is much more exciting than my posts.

God Bless and Pleasant Day/Evening.

Liz

We are about to leave to have our Mexican dinner. We are both looking forward  to  a feast on a festive occasion.

Please pray for my DIL's father he is having such a hard time with the chemo. He is on oral chemo and it makes him so terrible ill. I am so glad the had a chance to come here to  take care of things before it is too late. He still has his ministerial license so all is well.

Marilyn - what does his ministerial license do for him? I still have mine, too, but it doesn't do a thing for me!

Paul and Pat ... I'm "out of my usual corner" and a bit (make that a lot) late in my best wishes for your anniversary.   :-[  Maybe my excuse will hold ... y'see I'm not even in my own home now -- at my daughter's in California.  We have been trying to connect with relatives and it's like herding cats!!  :)

I didn't want to be left out, though, soooooo

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

It doesn't seem possible that it's been a whole year already, Paul. :)  Congratulations to both of you on your first anniversary.

Etta Sue, this is a wonderful quote.  Worth consideration in all our goings.  Thanks for posting it.

edit:  Hi, Jane. :)  You snuck in on me...

Pat

Thank you, thank you!

What lovely messages to Paul and I.  We had quite a busy weekend and now Paul and a friend of ours are going golfing today so I'm going to go and knit with his wife.    (Not sure if we'll do any knitting but that's our plan)

Yesterday we went to the Swiss Chalet for our dinner after church.  We went to the same one that we met in first after Paul and I had been communicating for awhile.  It was so nice to be where our relationship started to "bud" and celebrate our first anniversary!

Then we went to church last night again and to the park where we had our wedding photos taken last year for a few photos of our First Anniversary.  We'll share when we have time to look at them.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

A sad report this morning.  In the Seniors and Friends site it has been announced that Cornelia Murphree, the wife of Papa John whom some of you know, has gone to the arms of Jesus.  I pray for our Savior's comfort for the family of this lovely lady.

Hi everyone.

Pat and Paul, Happy Anniversary.  It was nice you could revisit places that have special meanings for you on this special day.

Liz, good to see you posting.

Not much new here today.  It is still overcast and rain is predicted later today.  I have my men's luncheon to attend this afternoon and that is all that is on the schedule.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional for this week.

My thoughts and prayers are with Papa John and his lovely family.  I know this day had been coming but it is still a most difficult time for any family.

Etta Sue

Thanks to all for the comments on the devotion and the quote.  I am always amazed at how scripture fits each and every one of us in the situations that each of us are going through at the time.  God is soooo good!

It has cooled down quite a bit in central Indiana.  It rained while I was reading my daily devotions.  And now I have shut all the windows..it got cool in here and maybe I will keep it cool if and when it warms up outside.  Remember my A/C isn't working... :-\

The ordination service was great last evening.  A very solemn service but also a joyful service.  Ben is a great guy...a great giving guy.  They told that when he went to Mexico on a mission trip that the only clothes he brought back was what he was wearing.  He gave all the rest away.  Another story was that a group of guys at college needed matching sweat outfits for something or other.  He washed cars on a weekend for donations and raised the money to purchase the sweats.  A great guy.

The reception afterwards in the basement was beautiful and tasted great.  Sandwiches, chips, fruit, veggies and cookies.  So colorful and filling.

Ivalou and I will probably go to our local Lion's Club this afternoon.  The Club is having an Open House and serving hamburgers and hot dogs.  We both agreed that would be fun....if we don't get a better offer.  I told her if she got a better offer that she couldn't go without me and vice versa if I got a better offer...Ivalou has to go also!  Hahaha!   :roflBig:

Hope everyone has a great holiday and that it doesn't rain on your picnic!

Jeanne, thanks for bringing the information of Cornelia Murphree's passing.  I know this is not unexpected, but still it leaves an empty place in the family.  My thoughts and prayers are with them all as they move through these next days.

My sympathy and prayers for Papa John and the whole Murphre family,

Al  his license allows him to perform all the same duties as yours does. He didn't come to my house to preach. Need I say anymore than that. I think not!

Marilyn, my first thoughts when I read your post about your DILs father having his license was the same as Al's as the sentence you used seemed to indicate that because he had his license his soul was fine.

My first words inside my head (and Paul's as well) were similar to Al's so please don't be harsh with Al.  As Christians, we know and realize that there are many "ministers" in churches with licenses enabling them to bury, marry, etc. but that is not doing them one iota bit of good if they haven't repented of their sins and accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord of their life.  Licenses mean nothing when we're concerned with eternity.

Dear Pat I know this man very well  and he is completely dedicated to God and Jesus as his Saviour. He is a wonderful Christian man, who doesn't have much longer on this earth due to his cancer. He loves the Lord with all his heart and I would never think of questioning his salvation or his loyalty to God. Please  don't say any bad things about  him.

Then what did you mean when you said that he was alright on account of still having his ministerial license?  You are an enigma to me.  Please enlighten.
