JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Larry:   Thanks for the info about the pictures it really was what I thought now to make the corrections.

I did have a post ready but it was lost but really did not have much to say. I did go to Wal Mart for a short while this morning then stopped at a restaurant for a bite to eat on our way home, while there we met with a couple of bus drivers and had a lovely chat with them.

Congrats to Pat & Paul.

We have been working outside today.  John has tilled the garden again and we have cut down a bunch of vines and brush.  In the process John has been eaten alive by black flies.  For those of you who don't have this flesh gouging bug  read this.
http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Params=A1ARTA0000798
It is hard to imagine such a little bug can do such big damage.  The auto's  both trucks and cars have to be careful of the wildlife moving to the roads to get out of the bush and away from these pests.  We look forward to the dragon flies coming.  That signals the near end to the black flies.  They will have plenty to eat this year.

I still am struggling with this bug, and now Elizabeth has come home sick.  Low grade fever and nausea.  Ug what a way to start John's week of holidays.  She is not going to cadets tonight.

Must be off God bless

Al I have sent you a PM. Sarah's father is a very kind and righteous man of God a worship leader in his church as well as being a preacher. He performs his duties with the utmost conscientiousness, be it weddings, burials or baptisms. I may not have put that is the best of context, With the situation of his health being so iffy at this time and us not knowing if he is even going to survive his chemo I think clouds my thinking sometimes.

My sympathy goes out to Papa John and his family.  It is so comforting, though, to know that dear Cornelia is in heaven.

Ouch, Judy!  Those black flies sound really vicious.  Poor John.. :(  When we go to Honduras for Scuba diving, the no-see-ums eat me up but hardly bite Darrel at all.  Go figure.

Boy, my night's sleep was really short.  I went to bed early enough, but woke up at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I got up at 4; had to be at work at 6.  Yawn..........

I worked all afternoon (except for taking a nap when I got home) on sorting stuff, taking out things for Pat's garage sale, throwing away stuff, etc.  Why didn't I just throw a lot of that away a long time ago??  :idiot:

I did drive out to the cemetery, but it was still a half hour until time for the little veterans' ceremony, and I was so tired and sleepy I came on home.  That is the first time I have missed it in many years.  I so appreciate our veterans.

Well, Etta Sue, did you get a better offer?  ;)

See you later!

A MEMORIAL DAY WORTH REMEMBERING
by Andy Rooney

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, the day we have set aside to honor and remember all the Americans who have died fighting for the thing we like the most about our America: the freedom we have to live as we please.

No official day to remember is adequate for something like that. It's too formal. It gets to be just another day on the calendar.

No one would know from Memorial Day that Richie M., who was shot through the forehead coming onto Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, wore different color socks on each foot because he thought it brought him good luck.

No one would remember on Memorial Day that Eddie G. had promised to marry Julie W. the day after he got home from the war, but didn't marry Julie, because he never came home from the war. Eddie was shot dead on an un-American desert island, Iwo Jima.

For too many Americans, Memorial Day has become just another day off. There's only so much time any of us can spend, remembering those we loved who have died, but the men, boys really, who died in our wars, deserve at least a few moments of reflection during which we consider what they did for us. They died.

We use the phrase "gave their lives," but they didn't give their lives. Their lives were taken from them.

There is more bravery at war than in peace, and it seems wrong that we have so often saved this virtue to use for our least noble activity -- war. The goal of war is to cause death to other people.

Because I was in the Army during World War II, I have more to remember on Memorial Day than most of you. I had good friends who were killed.

Charley Wood wrote poetry in high school. He was killed when his Piper Cub was shot down while he was flying as a spotter for the artillery.

Bob O'Connor went down in flames in his B17.

Obie Slingerland and I were best friends and co-captains of our high school football team. Obie was killed on the deck of the Saratoga when a bomb that hadn't dropped exploded as he landed.

I won't think of them any more tomorrow, Memorial Day, than I think of them any other day of my life. Remembering doesn't do the remembered any good, of course. It's for ourselves, the living.

I wish we could dedicate Memorial Day, not to the memory of those who have died at war, but to the idea of saving the lives of the young people who are going to die in the future if we don't find some new way that takes war out of our lives. That would be a Memorial Day worth celebrating.

So sorry to hear about Cornelia Murphree.  Expected but still not expected.  Papa John, if you come in here...my prayers are with you and your family.

Well, Ivalou got a better offer!  And she asked if I could come also.  So went to her son, Jeff's home for a cookout.  I kept mentioning things that I had that I could 'pitch in' and Ivalou kept saying, so and so is bringing that.  So I ended up taking some Pepperidge Farm Cream Filled Pirouette rolled wafers in the Mint Chocolate flavor.  They were a hit.  Some had never eaten them and had to try them.  It is always fun to be with family.

I found out that Tony and Charlene and 5 of her family rode on their cycles...4 of them...to the Ohio River and ended up in Greensburg, IN, where the tree grows out of the court house tower.  From the pictures they found some rain also!

Today I am going to a classmates home to play Euchre.  This is a group that half of them go to Florida for the winter so we only play half the year.

Hope they call me today and say the A/C will be fixed tomorrow!

How's this for logic?

*Hamster Care*

After buying her kids a pet hamster, after they PROMISED they would take care of it, Mom, as usual, ended up with the responsibility.

One evening, exasperated, she asked them, "How many times do you think that hamster would have died if I hadn't looked after it?"

After a moment, her youngest son replied quizzically, "Once?"

*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

Yea you only die once!  Good one Janet.

Well the health unit was by today because of the cat bite.  They want to make sure it doesn't have rabies!!!

We are going out to plant the garden in a few minutes.  We are to have rain over the next few days so want to have it planted before then.  Even the farmer is planting his grain today.

We have Doug's family sick now too.  Doug has asked Kassie to go over after school and give him a hand with the boys and meals.  This is a nasty  bug that we all have.  Elizabeth came home feeling rough last night, and went to bed at about 5:00.  when she got up this morning she said she was fine.  I suspect she was just overtired.

John wore his back brace when he tilled the garden.  That really saved his back.  Not the pain that he had last week when he was tilling.

I must run

Back later JudyB

Judy has your family been tested to see if this "bug" isn't the H1N1 virus.

This sun is beautiful here today, it is going to be  about 61 ° here and that is nice and warm, I hope the wind doesn't come up. I am so tired of the afternoon sneezing fits after walking the dogs.

Please keep my son's father in law, John Jones, in you prayers, the cancer has metastasized to his bones and he has been undergoing chemo, his chemo is oral and he has been having an awful time of it. Twice now he has been rushed to the ER and refused to let them admit him. He has been like a father to my son and  we are a very close family so all of us a very concerned   about him.

Happy didn't want to come out from under the bed for breakfast this morning so I fed him where he was, I think he is still under there.

Nope not the swine flu...Never been near anyone that has been to Mexico, nor anyone who has it..  We are all getting better, with me I am suffering more from allergies than anything else.

We have half of the garden seeded and have more to do. we will be picking up more seed as we have a lot of room yet.  Pat I have lots of zucchini, both yellow and green!  when it ripens if you are in Guelph I will send some down with John and you can meet him and have a feast!

Gotta run

Ruth

Judy:  Please be sure that it is not the H1N1 flu.

I have been busy making rhubarb sauce as well as a couple of pies one for dinner and the other I will be leaving shortly to take it over to my aunt, the sauce has enough sugar added but I am afraid the the pies did not get enough we will keep the sugar bowl handy.

It has been a windy cool day but will not complain as I do not like the hot July when it arrives.

I also expect to have company for dinner so best get all my errands done.

Hi everyone.  Just checking in today as don't have anything particular to say.

Liz

I haven't anything to say either, Larry.  Except that my SIL's scan shows gallstones and he is not feeling great.  Wendy & Amanda have a flu virus and I am having a nasty reaction to some medication.  This too will pass.........!      :)

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Not much more going on here either, except to say I am standing on the promises of God in Isa. 54:17 and Isa. 41:10 along with Philippians 4:6-8, As long as I keep those in mind I should be able to get some sleep tonight.

Well this bug is going through the entire house.  Kass will be the last to get it.  It is simple a stomach bug none of the symptoms of the swine flu.  I am fine now.  Legs and back ache but there is a reasonable explanation  for that!   Out garden is planted.  Everything that we had to plant is planted.  I am going to try and get a couple of packages of romano beans and maybe some kidney beans.  So as you see All that is wrong with me is the constant bending, squatting, and planting.  Oh and the rain is due to start tomorrow for 3 days, so that will give the garden a good overall start.I am wanting to plant some flowers this year, red runner beans, and sweet peas.  Hopefully the rain will hold off in the morning and I can do that before it starts.

I really wish I could have done another mow of the lawns before the rain tomorrow.  Maybe in the morning.

Got to go
God bless

Janet

My goodness, Judy, you'd better watch it or you will have to be helped out of bed!  That is a lot of hard work.

We got a wonderful, welcome inch of rain last night, for which we are so thankful.  It was cool enough today to need long sleeves, also windy and a little misty.

Liz, it seems your whole family is sick at the same time--not good.  May you all feel better quickly.

I spent my day doing things for Beth.  We took her shelves off the walls in her trailer, and put them up in her room.  I also went through her tiny little closet there and removed her sweatshirts from the hangers, folded and put them up in the shelf above.  Those armoires  (sp?) the bought are huge in size but not at all practical.  Anything with long sleeves, the sleeves drag on the bottom or get shut in the door.  :idiot:  Well, anyway, now she has some of her collection of little elephants and pigs there so she can enjoy them.  And John called today to say he has booked his trip to see her again in August, so that made her happy.

Boy, I am suddenly so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open.  See you tomorrow.

Nice to hear about all the gardening etc.  I've planted some tomato plants and my friend gave me some garlic to plant.  That will be interesting.  I've never had it before in the garden.

Hi Liz!!!

Nita

I had a really nice surprise yesterday. (Speaking of gardening ;D)  My daughter sent a check so that I could buy some new flowers and maybe even a couple of shrubs I've wanted.  Isn't that sweet?  She loves gardening and is planting like crazy.  She thought of me and knows how I have been busy outside.  I'll go this weekend and see which plants jump out at me.

It's been just gorgeous here today.  Not a bit of wind, no rain.......just warm and lots of sunshine.

Both of the babies were here this morning. Moms too.  I wasn't babysitting.  My heart just pours all over in joy when I watch them playing together.  Their little minds are always learning, and they love to dance and hold hands and laugh a lot.  Megan is almost 16 months, and Maycie is almost 14 months.  They're learning about disclipine too!  What not to touch and how to put things back.  Can you tell I love them so much, and they are pure entertainment for this gramma?

Pat

What a lovely sounding day, Nita.  How's your sister doing now? (the one with the photography blog?)

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Nita

Hi, Pat.  Faye is doing well.  She isn't doing the blog right now as life sort of turned when she had the cancer.  Also she's busy doing the traveling she does with her State job.  AND her grandson and daughter are living with them now. :)  She still takes her camera with her everywhere so I'm sure one day she'll get back to her blogging.  She has met so many friends from all over the world.  I don't think she'd want to lose them forever.  They understand though.

Pat

Well, that's good about the cancer.  I've been praying for her since we first met a few years ago online.

Hope I get this posted before Ivalou drives in the drive for me.  I am going with her to the doctors office and yes, we will eat somewhere after that.

Ivalou and I went to Kaye Don and Barb's to play cards last night.  Lots of laughs.  Barb and I lost and then we won!

Euchre was fun yesterday at classmate Bev's home.  Lots of laughs there, too.

Beautiful day in Indiana.  Suppose to rain later.

No word from the A/C man yet!

JudyB

MOrning all.  John is feeling much better today.  No more nausea.  Me on the other hand...I ache... no wonder though with all we did yesterday.  Pat one thing we need is some rhubarb.
Ruth your rhubarb recipes gave me a craving for rhubarb crisp!

Well we got the garden in before the rain.  Two packages of seed yet to go but they are flowers not veggies and in our eyes not quite as important.  We are hoping to have our freezer filled by autumn.  John ordered chickens yesterday as well.  They will be split 3 ways, as will the feed so the cost won't be as bad.

Have to go, we need to go into the Bay this afternoon and there are tings I want to do first.

Marilyn

I am doing my domestic engineering today, Laundry  etc. I have to shampoo my hair and maybe this afternoon get my nails done if I can get an appointment. Tomorrow I  am putting on my secretary hat and going to  my husband's office for a few hours to do some billing and fill out some checks for him to sign.

I slept much better last night. Thank you Jesus!!!!!!!

Gotta go now and feed the dogs and get busy otherwise too.

Hi Everyone Just thought I would share some thoughts. Its sure good to be home for a weeks vacation and get some of the things done around the house. Thank God I don't have to put up with the discomfort of the flu on the road as I have had to in the past. Not a pleasant experience. I was out in Iowa last week and really enjoyed watch all the farmers tilling and planting their fields. Yes I was raised on a farm and still get pleasure from the basics of life. Guess that is why I drive a truck. Its the free spirit coming out in me. We live on a wonderful continent and I am often amazed at Gods handiwork in creating this world. We all to often get all wrapped in the day to day routine and don't take time to enjoy what God has given us and be thankful for it. I've been experimenting with a little point and shoot digital camera on the road that someone gave me. hope to post and odd picture here and there in the near future. I see some amazing sights at times in my travels and thought it may be interesting to share some from time to time. Well will go for now, Judy and I have some errands to take care of. Check back tonight.  Bonesy
Phil. 1: 21. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It has been a pretty day here and the sun is shining this afternoon.  The lawn people were here this afternoon and our front yard now looks like a pretty green carpet.  My neighbor and I both use the same company and they do both yards on the same day.

This morning Pat and I went to Bible Study with the pastor.  We spent the hour on the first few verses of Romans 12.  This is an interesting study.  We then we to the donut shop for an hour and then Pat and I went to a Mexican buffet and had a great lunch.  Needless to say we won't be eating any supper.  I have choir practice this evening.

Bonesy, glad you have a few days off and are feeling better.

Marilyn:  You said "my husband".  I must have missed the announcement but send loving hugs to you and wish you a Lord-filled lifetime.

Pat:  Your year has gone so quickly.  At least I think so.  I am cheering for you to move into your new home soon.

Liz;  Hello, nice to see your post.

Bonesy:  Nice to see your post as well - all that driving and then gardening it is nice that you can stop in once in a while.  Thank you for mentioning the farmers as I really don't think people appreciate what it takes to put food on our overflowing tables.  Certainly children are not aware of what it entails to bring a quart of milk into the house.  Sorry about the flu passing through your home now.

Here, Don went to the dentist yesterday & today he is at a board meeting from 3 to 10 or 11 tonight.  I went to the dentist today and then stopped at the grocery store for some soft food.  Washing & ironing now.
Take care all.

JudyB

Woohoo I got some rhubarb and 2 types of raspberries a red and a black... Blackberries are not to be found.  We also picked up a package of Hubbard squash and some leeks.  Elizabeth has wanted to plant potatoes so we picked up a few of them as well.  Our garden is full!!!  What an amazing feeling of accomplishment we both have now!

Will be back.

Ruth

We have had rain all day next on the list will be cutting the grass.

We did go out for a little while this afternoon and had dinner at a lovely British Restaurant in Brampton.

Our snack to night will be rhubarb pie and ice cream.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Al Moak

Ruth, like Judy, you've created  a powerful wish for some rhubarb crisp.  Your rhubarb pie and icecream doesn't sound bad either. You better stop that or you'll have a guest in the house!

Bonesy - I can sure relate to the farms you see in your travels.  Some of the most pleasant trips I've ever taken were through places like Nebraska past thousands and thousands of acres of corn.  I have to admit it's the life I would  love.  My uncle  had a ranch down in S. California, and I sure loved it down there.  There's something very cleansing about working ll day outdoors, even in the hot sun.  I almost took a pastorate down near Winnere, SD - all farmers there.
