Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Good Morning, Thank you Pat for  let us know how Geordie is doing. I  have been praying for  both you and Geordie.

I am going to the Cosmetology school to have my nail done this morning, they only have two girls who are good enough to do  paying customers and the price is right too as I am trying to cut back on expenses these days. I called Verizon and got our DSL  cut back by $21.00 without changing anything. Keith was still paying the original price from years ago and had failed to  call in when the new price was offered. So now our phone  bill is $21 less than it was.

Janet I have cut back my coffee to just 2 cups in the morning and have been sleeping much better. Have you tried Melantonin, that may help you just enough and is  natural.

Hi Al how's it going  in Mcville?

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday Jim D.

It is another overcast day here.  At coffee this morning a couple of the men said they have had close to 8 inches of rain in the last three days and more is predicted everyday through a week from tomorrow.

I have had a quiet and restful day today.  I worked all morning on the music library project for our choir.  We have to use old software as that is what the church has and I had trouble getting the Access program installed to build the database.  I wrote to our IT person and he sent a reference to a work around, which made no sense to me, but it worked.

Tomorrow I am picking up a friend and we are headed to attend a business meeting in Macon, GA, which is about two hours away.  I will be home on Sunday afternoon.  I am not taking my computer, unless I change my mind, but will have my iPod Touch where I can stay in touch.

Janet

Marilyn, I, too, drink only two cups of coffee in the morning and none the rest of the day.  And I take Melatonin.....still can't sleep.  I want to try that new one they are advertising that has Melatonin, Valerian Root and something else, all in one capsule.  Maybe that would help.

Boy, am I finding a lot of stuff I had forgotten ever owning.  :-\  And I have no idea what to do with most of it, either.  I moved a whole pickup load of stuff from the big closet in the entranceway of the dome, and another load that was all trash.  Of course the trash went into the burn pit.  Lots of arts/crafts stuff I had at the store, some still new in the boxes.  I will keep only a few things and the rest goes into the sale.

Darrel worked on Beth's trailer, got the rest of the repairs made to the water lines.  Now Jim can move in there.

Al, the date for the auction is October 17th.  Prayers appreciated!!

I need to go shower; we have decided to go have pizza tonight.  Then for sure it will be an early bedtime for me.  I might cave and take an ambien, but I sure hate to.

Janet.  3 boxes.  one to keep and only if you love it.  One for garbage, and one to give away.  15 minutes at a time...then take a water break and then another 15.  It does work.  Only  keep an item if you really LOVE it.  No time for sentimentality.

I am going to read more be back later.

Don

And another Happy Birthday from me Jim!

AND MORE HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES FROM ME!!!

Yeah, yeah, Judy..........I get Flylady, too.........but just now, that is NOT helping!!  Far too much to deal with in too short a time!  I wouldn't even get started in 15 minutes!!  And as for sentimentality---I am amazing myself how much I want to just get this stuff away from here!!  So we will keep plugging away at it, and by October 20 or so, there should be lots of clear spaces around this place!  (Thanks for your suggestions, though, I know you want to help!  ;)  I really do appreciate your caring.)  In a normal situation, Flylady's tricks work wonderfully well, but this is one of those drastic times that calls for drastic measures!

Here I am up way too early again, been up for about three hours already.  I didn't take an ambien, but did sleep well until about 2:30 or so.  Today is my scrapbooking day, but I am too tired to even think about going.

I think I will head back to bed for a while, see if I can catch a few more ZZZZZZs......

So sorry, Janet that you had a night like that.  I don't like having them.

Well, folks, I leave today from Falls Church, VA to head to a granddaughter's birthday party in Berryville, VA and then sleep in Winchester at the new house and then in the morning I'll head north with Geordie to Guelph.  I have a medical on Tuesday and so I must be home for it.

No internet yet out in the Winchester so this will be my last post till I get to Canada.

Happy Birthday, Jim!  Sorry I am late!!

Another bright and beautiful day in Indiana.  We are in need of rain but maybe not.  I saw my first farmer combining soy beans yesterday!  Early fall!

I am still coughing but not as hard or as often as I was.  Hopefully I am about over this cold.  Ten days today so it should be on the outs!

Etta Sue, I hope you're on the road to full recovery.  You know what they say about a cold - see a doctor and get medication and it will last 14 days.  Don't bother going to the doctor and the cold will last 2 weeks.   ;)

I had plans for today that fell through.  :( I was going to join my daughter on a drive to Vermont this afternoon to take my granddaughter to camp, with several other home-schoolers.  It would have been probably well into late evening before I got home.  But just a few minutes ago my daughter called and said she was staying home with my grandson who woke up with a sore throat and slight fever.  My granddaughter will be going with another carload of friends.  So our plans for some one-on-one time on the way home from Vermont are cancelled, at least for now.  Maybe it will work out better next week when it's time to bring her home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JSTEW

I have been working out in the garden.  We have had our first 2 frosts.  I have a load of carrots.  I tried a different kind, they have a purple skin.  Can't wait to try them.  We have a few beats.  The soil is too acidic for beets, so we need to put our ashes into the soil in preparation for next year.  We also have pumpkins.  That is a surprise, we thought all we saw was leaves.  Pat you want one for pie?  We are going to gather them up on the lawn and give them time to ripen,  They are gradually turning orange.  I have a box full of green tomatoes.  Now this is a problem, what in the world do you do with a box of green tomatoes?  Does anyone have any ideas?  If they were red We would eat them...yes John and I love tomatoes and we would have them at every meal, including breakfast.

Doug came over with a trailer load of dry wood.  Bless him, we were out of dry wood for burning.

Now we're going to get all this food into the house and get it put away.  I think I will can the carrots and the few beats.

I will check back for suggestions on what to do with our tomatoes!

Judy, make some good old-fashioned chow-chow!  (green tomato relish)  It is delicious with beans, meats, etc.  We love it.

I picked a chocolate pepper a while ago.  Chocolate color, but I'll bet it has no resemblance to chocolate flavor!  It's a sweet pepper.

Grandson Curtis came up this afternoon, and he and Darrel got Curt's old pickup off our trailer, we need it to put stuff on for the auction.  While here, he helped move several heavy things, like an old steel desk and some shelving; also some bookcases from upstairs in the dome....Love that guy!  He just had his 25th birthday this week.  And he tells me they are expecting another baby in April.  The little girl of theirs is celebrating her second birthday tomorrow, so we will be going to Hugoton for her party.

I am tired, sleepy, and hurting all over.  I think we will eat a sandwich or something and call it a day.

That's a beautiful quotation, Jim.  Thomas Brooks had many of them.  Oh that more Christians would read him.

JudyB

I have all your suggestions for the green tomatoes.... I will let you know what I make.  It will be Tuesday before I do anything.

Have a great Lords Day everyone.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Pastor Al. Many of the old Puritans' books are very insightful and really exalt Christ, His love for us, and all He has done and provided for us through His death, resurrection, and ascension. They sometimes get a little long-winded while developing their subjects, but really cover the bases from almost every angle in doing so, and doubly bless the reader in the process.

In your comment, I hear the Lord reminding me that I also need to read Brooks more often. I have a 6 volume HB set of his in my library called, "Works of Thomas Brooks" that I haven't dug into for quite a while now. I also have a couple of single volume books by the Puritan Thomas Manton; one is called "The Beatitudes" and the other is a commentary on Jude (appropriately called "Jude") that are both excellent.  :)

Oh, I also used to have a big, thick book by Puritan Thomas Goodwin called "Justifying Faith", but I remember that it was sort of like chewing on nails for me to concentrate on while reading, so I ended up selling it on eBay.  ;D
As I recall, it was either too "intellectual" for me or his style of writing was too "Old English-ie" for me to enjoy.  :-\

Here are a few thoughts regarding Romans chapter three from William R. Newell's, "Romans, Verse by Verse" that should encourage us believers as we begin the new week:

Judy B. you might try this:

•Wrapping individual green tomatoes in newspaper and layering in a box, no more than 2 layers deep. Place the box in a dark, dry spot and check weekly for progress. It usually takes 3-4 weeks for the green tomatoes to ripen, but check frequently and remove any fruits that show signs of rotting.

I have done this in the past and plan to do it again in a few days.  Works quite well........ :)
