Morning Folks. It's a beautiful day here in the north although a bit n the cool side today. We are experiencing a wonderful autumn up her this year. Are prayers are with those with health issues that God may restore their health according to His will. We can take comfort in the fact He is in control and has the big picture in His sight. it is comforting to know that we serve a loving Father. Well I got my return to work note from the doctor yesterday so I'll be heading back on the road this weekend, The only restriction is no heavy lifting or excessive walking for a month or so. Thank you all for your prayer support. It is good to hear that the weather in the Atlanta area has started to improve. Now the massive cleanup begins but I'm sure that the sunshine there is a welcome site. Well I'm going to run for now. Things to do and people to see. Blessings to everyone. Bonesy

God truly is the controller of all things and He answers prayer! We praise Him for His care for you, John, and will be looking forward to your visit as you pass through Winchester on your next trip down this way. Your "Flying J" truck stop is just 7 1/2 miles from the new house location, so let us know when you're coming through.

We are still just a few weeks from getting the Falls Church house on the market but what a job after having lived here for 28 years, which seems like yesterday!

God, my Creator, is
"The Blessed Controller of All Things"

Janet

I am home for a while.  Abby will be babysitting after school until 6, so I came home to help Darrel and to have Pat do my hair.  She is going to Lubbock, Texas tomorrow to see the neurosurgeon who will be doing her surgery on her back.  That will be a miserable trip for her, I'm sure.  She called and said she feels better today and wants to do my hair so I will look better for my painting class next week.  ;)

So glad to hear Iva Lou is doing better, also that Pat's foot is improving; and that John has been released to return to work.  God is still answering prayer!!

One of my high dollar hearing aids just quit the other day.  Well, both of them quit, but this morning I took them and one of Darrel's that also quit, in to the hearing aid place.  The one where we got them has disappeared.... :ticked:  Anyway, the lady got Darrel's and my left one to work, but the right one not.  She put in a new battery, it beeped three times and quit.  She said she can send it in to be repaired, it would cost $360 and then have a one year warranty.  Boy, what a racket!!  At the prices they charge, that is about $1000 per year for hearing aids.  I'm not sure what we will do.  I haven't worn these all the time, probably not as much as I should have, but now that I can tell I need them more, they quit.  Grrrr.

I must get busy around here again, it will be time to head back to Hugoton before I know it.  Then I will bring Abby home with me until her parents get home.

Blessings to you all.

We have another Prayer REquest that we'd sure appreciate greatly if you'd go and read and post to Steve aka Fotobirder that you're praying.

I am feeling really upset, so thought to come here and feel better.

The kid's suitcases were returned today.  They were both broken into and a number of very expensive things were stolen.  Wendy is terribly upset!  She is trying to report this, no luck getting thro to the WestJet people....

So beware.  We really do live in a sad and scary world.  Like Janet and many others, I long for the return of our Lord.

God Bless,

Liz

Ohhh, Liz!  How awful.  I'm really sorry about this.  I hope that Wendy is able to get in touch with West Jet.

Words and Music: Jim Hill

There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

First of all, I went to my surgeon for the Interstim Therapy.  He is pleased and so am I how well I am now doing since I found out the same medication is different when it is manufactured by different companies.  What I got from mail-in is like sugar pills.  The medicine from CVS is working better and I am doing better than I have for 40 years!!!  I don't have to see the surgeon again until March 2010.

Ivalou is a miracle!!  Yesterday she coughed after a teaspoon of water.

Today the Speech Therapist gave her some water and it went down great and her throat muscles were working like they should.  She ordered a throat x-ray.  When they took her to x-ray my nieces and I went for lunch.  We came back and Ivalou was sitting up in a chair drinking a cup of coffee!!  Then a nurse brought her some lunch.  Cut up assorted fruit, tuna salad, coffee and Sprite.  She even fed herself with her left hand.  OT and PT came in and she moved her right arm up as far as possible and her right knee to her chest.

Then her doctor came in and said yesterday she wouldn't talk, or move her right side at all for him.  We told him he will be surprised what she can do today.  He said, I will believe it when I see it.  He asked her to say something.  She said 'Okay!'  He asked her to raise her arm.  She did.  Raise her knee.  She did.  Then he leaned in and said 'Ivalou, you certainly have surprised me.  I saw and I believe.  You are going to move to another room this evening.  And if you continue, you will be moved to rehab Sunday night!'  So she has been moved to a private room on the same floor.

Praise God.

Tomorrow morning I have to take my car and see why the 'check engine' light is on.  I just hope it will be a fast and cheap fix!!

Pat

Etta Sue, what fantastic news!

That really is so good to read tonight.  We'll continue to pray for your dear sister.  Please tell her that I remember her fondly from our Calgary trip.

Etta Sue Wonderful news God is faithful!!

Had Kassie at the clinic tonight didn't get out of there till after 8:30.  It looks like I was right she had a bad virus infection.  Then a secondary infection has developed.  So we have to pick up 2 prescriptions for her.  All drug stores are closed, so that will have to wait till tomorrow.

We are all tired.  Night and God bless.

Don

Liz I know that must make your blood boil for sure. They come to my place at night and take hanging baskets. I guess they ride by in the day to pick out the ones they want, my baskets are visible from the highway, and then come back in total darkness to get it. A sad state that we are in. I have to really be careful so as to not say something I should not say.

Thanks for the good news Etta Sue, I will continue to pray. Good luck with that check engine light, what a rip off that can be sometimes.

Sorry Kassie is feeling bad Judy. Will be praying for her also.
Hope you all got some rest last night.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Our area is back under a flash flood watch until Sunday evening.  So far we haven't had much rain but the chances increase all day long and tomorrow.

When I wrote yesterday I guess it was pre-mature regarding Pat's foot.  While it is healing nicely from the surgery, the cellulitus is not responding to the antibiotic and her foot is really hurting her.  She will be contacting the doctor on Monday.  She is working hard at not being furious over this situation as feels the infection was the result of non-sterile conditions in the operating room when she had her surgery.  The bottom of her foot is no longer hurting her when she walks, as it has for several years, but the top of the foot hurt.

Etta Sue, sure glad to read of the great progress that Ivalou is making.  It is amazing what a difference 24 hours make in our healing processes.  Glad to read your good news regarding the medicine working for you.

Liz, I saw a report on the news recently about how suitcases can be opened and reclosed without showing they have been broken into and the locks stay in place.  I guess we should keep everything valuable in our possession while flying.  A few months ago my best friends granddaughter was returning from schooling in England and had her CD collection stolen from her luggage.

Don, sorry to read of the problem you are having with people stealing your hanging baskets.  Do you prepare these yourself and do you sell them?  Noisy, are I?

Judy, hope Kassie responds to the medicine.  Good new, John, on being able to return to work.

Marilyn

Etta Sue I am glad to hear the good news about Iva Lou and you great news about your Interstim therapy and the  medicine.

Larry Sorry to hear that Pat's foot is giving her so much trouble. How is stacey doing?

Judy sorry to hear that Kassie is sick, I hope she gets better soon.

Liz that is such a terrible thing and  so invasive of ones privacy. I'm sure Wendy feels so violated.

Don The thieves will get what they deserve one of these days. Have you thought about  a guard dog? Or staying up to catch them?

Don is there any way of taking them in at night to prevent the thievery?  I understand you having to be careful.  A dog might help but the problem with that is if the dog were to bight someone stealing then you can be charged....may not be a good idea.

Well the men are here working on getting the wood out of the bush.  Looks like we will make it after all.

Have a good day and I will be back later.

One of my least favorite things to do as a widow is get my car worked on.  While they ran the computer analysis I ate at Bob Evans.  I knew that was going to be $101.  Then when I got back he said the computer analysis said the cause for the light to come on was a misfire.  Well, I told him I noticed it after I tried to start the car and my thumb slipped off the key and I tried to start it again real quick.  My thinking...that is a misfire!  Then he showed me an estimate of what all needed to be done on the car...spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, oil filter, pcv or pvc something or other and something else and including the analysis it would be $506!!  I told him no way.  I have more important things to do than that.  He said it really needs to be done to make your car run better.  I told him the car runs fine...just the check engine light came on after I tried to start it and my thumb slipped off and I started it again!!  And besides I didn't have that kind of money.  Then he told me they have a payment plan.  I got a little testy.  I told him...Look, I am not doing that today.  I will pay for the computer analysis but nothing else.

Now if the check engine light comes on again in the next month, THEN I will get it checked again by someone else!  I think they think...here comes an old woman...let's see what we can sucker her into!!

Ivalou is still improving!  Today she had a bacon cheeseburger, potato salad, banana and iced tea for lunch.  And she is speaking in sentences...takes awhile but she gets it out!!  Thank you God!

Lauren, her granddaughter, came back today with her sister and Dad.  She looks soooo good.  Surgery for her is next Tuesday!

Janet

Darrel and I are both so weary this evening we can barely function.  Oh, how glad and relieved we will be when this auction is over with!!

Liz, that's a shame about the kids' suitcases.  We have learned not to take any valuables with us that we can't keep in our posession at all times.  We don't even take pricey clothes (don't have any!)  :)  But....that does NOT excuse thievery!!  Nobody has a right to take another's personal posessions.  Same goes for Don's hanging baskets.  Why can't people just be honest?? :clobber:

Abby is here until sometime tomorrow.  She has been pretty good--I know her parents gave her a good "talking-to" about the way she has been treating us lately.  Why do they have to go through this snotty teenager stage?  My adorable little girl whom I enjoyed so much, just changed overnight, it seemed.  Sigh.... :-\  I hope she changes back to the sweet girl we had, and SOON.

Etta Sue, I am delighted to hear how well Iva Lou is doing, and that your med is working so you are doing great, too.  God is good.

I went to see Beth and Mom a while ago.  Beth wanted me to order her a pizza---then go get it---then feed her.....so it took longer than I had planned.  It wouldn't matter, and doesn't matter....it's just that I am so tired.

I will probably take my laptop with me to my painting class, but do not know if I will have internet access, so you may not hear from me until next weekend.  Maybe I can get rested up a little while I am away.

Janet

Etta Sue, I just had to come back and tell you that the check engine light on our Mercury came on; Darrel had it checked, the guy said just don't worry about it; if the car starts and runs, then it's nothing to sweat.  It will go off for a few days, then come back on.....the man said he could do all kinds of stuff, charge us a bundle (like the guy wants to do to you!) but it wouldn't help.  So if I were you, as long as the car runds fine, and starts fine, just live with it.  I feel the same as you, they do sometimes try to take advantage of women alone.  And that stinks!

Goodness our check engine lte has been on for nearly a year and we have never checked it out.  We asked a few questions and decided that tit was nothing we could pay for at this time in our lives.  Van still runs.

I slept half the evening away.  Going to watch a movie and then to bed.

Hi, friends, I've enjoyed catching up once again. And, I'll be praying for the needs expressed.

I, too, am both an MRSA and a cellulitis survivor. What difficulties can be caused by this illness.

May God comfort and care for each of us.
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, if the check engine light is on steady don't worry about it.  It's when it's a blinking light that it needs looking into.  Mine has spells where it comes on for a few days for no reason and then just stops, again for no reason.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am up and ready for church.  Pat still isn't feeling like getting out, at least she indicated last evening she wouldn't be attending church today, and she is still asleep.  Yesterday she set up her portable CD player by her easy chair so she could have her foot up and listen to her book on tape while I watched the football games.  However, everytime she started to listen she would fall asleep.

A couple of days ago I ordered her a new netbook computer with a 12 inch screen.  It weighs about 3 pounds and she should be able to use it at her easy chair and not have to sit at her desk all evening as she has done for a number of years to play games on the computer and listen to her stories on CD.  I hope this will work for her.

Yesterday morning when I came into my office and turned on my monitors, I found my big monitor was gone and would not power up.  So this morning I took it out of my office, along with a printer that no longer works.  So for awhile, until I can get another monitor, I will get along with one on my desk rather than two.

Etta Sue, I always had trouble with the check engine light on my Saturn and was told about the same thing that Jeanne mentioned to not worry about it.  I had it checked a number of times and it would not show any codes as the cause and they would reset the sensor and the light would be gone.  I first time it happened was when we got word my Mother was dying and we needed to get to Iowa asap.  We started out and got north of Atlanta when the light came on.  There was no time to get it to the garage since it seemed to be running fine and did throughout the trip.  Sometimes all these lights and sensors as just an annoyance.

Marilyn, Stacey has now come down with a cold and we can barely understand her on the phone as her voice is so husky (probably not the right descriptive word).  However, she called last evening to let us know she was OK.

Janet, it seems all young people go through these stages of development when they become sort of brats.  I can even remember when I was growing up and into my early teenage years that I always had to correct the conversation or have something to say and then feeling badly about my actions after the fact.  It is nice to know that these phases don't usually last forever.  Sorry to read that you and Darrel are getting so tired.  Enjoy your painting class and get some much needed rest this week.

JudyB

Paul John enjoyed talking to you Friday.  Thank you for that.

Kass was up bright and early, and has headed to Sunday School with a neighbour who go to our church.  Elizabeth didn't quite make it so she will come to church with us.

Janet I am going through this stage with my girls as well.  It is troublesome, but I am learning to pick my fights.  It seems kids only "mouth off" in an atmosphere of safety.  In public there is no that safety also there is an attitude of living up to the respect standards that they have learned through the years.  It is a troublesome, confusing time in their lives, hang on tight it could be a rough ride.  Remember the verse  "When they are old......they will not depart.

It is interesting we are having a mortgage burning coming up in a couple of weeks.  We are a very small congregation...35 families and they have done great things to cover this debt.  They have also prayed for increase and now there are several families with children.  The Friday after the Canadian Thanksgiving the youth starts.  That gives something for everyone.

This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Have a good Lords Day everyone.  May you all feel his presence today.

I had to miss church this morning, have come down with something. Spent Saturday afternoon in the bed, can't remember the last time I did that.

Thanks Larry. Yes these are baskets we prepare and grow to sell. I don't buy anything to sell. I only sell what I grow.

Yes I know they will get what they deserve one day. I have thought about staying there but then if I caught them I would probably be the one that would have to go to jail. It's not worth the hassle, I'll let the Lord take care of it, they are his baskets anyway.

Too many to carry in, not enough hours in the day. Maybe I could find one big and bad enough to eat up all the evidence. Maybe a Lion or Tiger, but then I would probably be the one that gets eaten.

Good for you Etta Sue. I ran a garage of my own for 20 years and I just can't believe the prices they want to charge now. They don't repair anything now, just replace parts and half the time they replace the wrong parts. I really believe the general public has no idea how they are being ripped off today. JMHO

Hope everyone has a Blessed day.

The weather is still treating us nice!  This has been a real 'Indian Summer'.......or is that a political reference needing change?

Janet, hang in there.  For a long time my GD went thro' stages.  Now I find her to be a bright, intelligent, kind and pleasant young woman.  Come to think of it, we all seem to have many stages in our lives, some good, some, not so much!   ;)

Don, sorry that you are ill.  Your comment: "They don't repair anything now, just replace parts and half the time they replace the wrong parts"  reminds me of our medical care here in BC.
A man was  recently found in the hospital parking lot here in the valley, after having been dead for several days and not being noticed by the terrific security patrol.  Of course we will never know why or how, since these things get buried, no pun intended.  :-\

The kids suitcases contained empty boxes for someone else's camcorder and expensive things....so this person(s) was quite active in stealing.  Hopefully it will show on the security cameras and they will be caught.  Anyway, what goes around comes around, right?

Time to go and do something useful.
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Carol

Sunday afternoon and my cousin & wife just left for home in Washington state with their van that contains everything they need.  We drove them to the mountains yesterday and around the lake and so forth then back, an entire day.  They took us out for Chinese dinner and that was so good - then we all went to early church and they really liked the sermon and the place we worship. It was wonderful to have them visit.

Don:  Sorry that you are not well and wish you a quick recovery.  Stealing is a dreadful crime.

Etta Sue:  It sounds like you won't have to worry about the car light.  Now to find an honest repair person.

It is a sunny, warm day here and the Broncos begin the game at 2 PM.  Don needs a nap because he did all the driving yesterday and today could only hear about 60% of the service.  We have just got to find an answer for him.

Janet

Janet needs a nap, too, before I head out for Fowler for the week.  I took Abby to meet her Mom, came home and loaded my painting stuff in the car, read all the new posts here; now I still have time for a short nap before picking up my painting buddy, Dee.  :)

Everybody have a God-blessed few days, okay?

It seems you all are in agreement with me on the 'check engine' light.  I looked under the hood of the car and the engine was still there, so I 'checked the engine'!  ;)  But again if the car wasn't running right or perhaps if the light comes on again soon, I will have it checked but at my cousins car repair place up the road...not back at Tires Plus.

Today I went to church and Sunday School.  Then the women of the church had a salad luncheon followed by one of ours talking about aprons.  I do believe she had over 75 aprons and a little story on everyone of them that she showed us.  Very enjoyable.  And at the end she said she had a little poem about aprons that was given to her by Ruby Stevenson...my Mom!  That was nice!

Then I went to the hospital.  Ivalou is talking up a storm now.  Sure, she can't get a word to come out sometimes but she shrugs her shoulders and says 'Oh, well!'  And then laughs so hard that everyone in the room is laughing.  There is no therapy on Sunday so she is still in her second room.  Maybe tomorrow they will move her to Rehab.  But she is a trooper.  She still amazes me how she continues to improve a 100% every day!!

I am doing some laundry and I am telling myself...you are going to get to bed before midnight tonight!  I didn't realize how tired I was until I was sitting quiet in church and  a l m o s t  dozed off!! ::)
