JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Ivalou uses a walker...a
hemi walkerShe tried the regular walker but since she has no touch feeling in her right hand or right leg, she couldn't use it.  She uses her right side but it isn't as controlled as the left.  Therefore the regular walker didn't move they way she wanted it to move.  With the hemi walker, she moves the walker with her left hand, then the right foot, then the left foot.  She walked over 100 feet yesterday with a therapist on each side of her.

When I got to the hospital, Teresa and Lauren were there while Ivalou was having lunch.  They didn't stay the night.  Lauren had another doctor appointment this morning.  She has had many this week and starts her aggressive chemo next Tuesday!  (She asked the doctor to not use adjectives...just say 'chemo')  She will go every two weeks for the chemo into her chemo port.  I am not going to say for how long.  I want to say either 6 months or 2 years!  Big difference.  But after that she will have to take a pill form chemo every day for 5 years!!  She said she wishes she didn't have to do it but the alternative is a lot worse!  She isn't done living!

So I took Ivalou's clean clothes to her room and put them away and I left to go to WalMart and home!  Even then, I thought...what can I eat for supper?   :-\

I will be headed to the hospital when I get caught up online.  Not much else to do...cloudy, dreary, gloomy, and cold!!!

Hi, friends, BRRRRR! It's in the 40's this afternoon, and I'm not ready for cold weather yet. Gotta get out 'n see about the house once again, and a few other things. The gas tank is getting a bit "thirsty" so probably will gas up while out.

The trees here are beginning to turn lovely shades of red, yellow, orange, and brown. The care that our Lord took in fashioning this earth so that we can enjoy and praise Him through viewing the countryside around us amazes me.

A friends we were with a couple of weeks ago told this story:

"An atheist told God that, through all the research discoveries, that he could ALSO create man. So, the challenge was on. The atheist stooped to pick up a handful of dirt and God stopped him. 'Son, go make your OWN dirt!"
'Nuff said, IMHO.

:)
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

For several years now I've been paying the basic price for my cable TV and getting the channels of Standard, the next level up.  Yesterday a knock on my door and two young men informed me I would need to either upgrade from Basic to Standard and pay the extra, or stay with the Basic payment and get only those channels.  I dithered a few moments and decided to do the upgrade.

After they left I started thinking - no way could I afford the cost of the upgrade which would be double what I've been paying.  So I called the office to cancel and found that I could upgrade even further (and get even more channels I don't really want) with the latest "promotion".  This would make my payments only slightly higher than I've been paying but would include not only the digital channels but also a faster internet connection.

The digital lineup includes a couple of good gospel networks. It would, however, require a converter with a one-time installation charge of $30.  I asked whether this was something that I could do myself, and was told yes and then there wouldn't be an installation charge.

So I'm off this afternoon to go over the mountain to Glens Falls to pick up a converter box and see if I can hook things up myself and thereby get more and pay less.

Well, I'm back home and well satisfied with the afternoon's accomplishments.   I got the converter and even though the instructions were extremely minimal I got everything hooked up.  I had been under the impression the account would have to be activated, but as soon as I turned everything on all the new channels worked just great.  And now I can get Trinity Broadcast Network again!  Hooray!   :cheer: :cheer:

Good for you, Jeanne!      :cheer:

I still have only the very basic "rabbit ears" indoor antennae here ... get NBC, ABC, FOX and 3ABN ... That's okay ... it's actually more than I got with the so-called mandatory converter box for DTV!

I had a big surprise yesterday evening ... I'm still shaking my head in amazement ... My daughter, Joy, called and asked if I had any plans for Thanksgiving and I told her I never have plans.  She already knew that, but felt she needed to ask for her husband's sake.

She says John is "feeling love for all God's people" and wants to bring Thanksgiving to me.  Instead of spending the holiday at the cabin with his Dad and all the uncles, aunts, cousins, and sisters and their families. "bumping around in the kitchen pretending" ... he wants to do something nice for me!  How's that for a son-in-law?

They'll bring all the groceries and do the cooking ... even help me with some chores .... I'm (nearly) speechless. :-[

I quit one cable provider and went to another with a better offer.  The old company called me and asked why I was leaving since I had been a customer for nearly 10 years.  I told them that they were offering a special promotion but only to new customers.  As an existing customer I was not eligible.  Glad I left as my internet connection and channels are far better than the old company.  I get about 8 christian channels.

Congrats Jeanne!  It looks like you got the best deal.  We have a t.v. in the basement with only 6 stations - three are in Spanish.  One is the local news & another the travel channel - the other is a sales promotion all the time.  Very boring on the treadmill or sewing downstairs.  That is why I like a radio.

Jane:  Thanksgiving will be super for you - it is so nice that they want to do some work for you - accept and rejoice!

The cost of the balloon fiasco that went off without a boy in it is over $2 million.  It is really odd and I hope they find the truth as to whether this was a ploy for publicity or not.  Otherwise, I would hope that they would send a bill to this very different family.

Don and I signed a bunch of bandannas with messages of thanks and love that the church will send to troops.  A Psalm was printed on it and I apologize but I have already forgotten which one - we are sending about 1,400 packages to troops and will box things this Sunday afternoon.  Probably many more than that this year.

Jeanne Lee

Jane, what a wonderful surprise!  That will certainly make Thanksgiving real for you.

Carol, that's a terrific project.  Sounds as though your Sunday afternoon will be busy.

:)  Good evening to  all C.P. people and families. :)  Last night my wife and I were able to go to a rally which was held in Buffalo New York. to here Dr. David Jeremiah. and it was a fantastic night and the praise time was unbelievable which was led by the praise team leader from Jerry Falwell's church.

There had to have been at least 9000 to 10,000 plus people and the singing was fantastic what a privilege to be there and to feel the power of the  Holy Spirit. :)

The pastor gave an invitation at the end and we sang Amazing Grace and many people went forward so please pray that they will make a solid commitment to the Lord and find a good church so that they can be dispelled.

May the Lord give you all a wonderful weekend and I hope that you are all blessed like my wife and I last night.   God bless.   Gord and Noreen. <3

Gord, how wonderful you were able to go to Dr. Jeremiah's rally!  I can get him on the radio every weekday from 12:00 to 12:30 and on TV Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. And I get a short devotional by him in my email every day.  I think he's a wonderful preacher and would love to see him in person.

Good Morning, Yesterday I went to the local Beauty school and had my nails done in a very pretty blue color. I also got 2 inches trimmed off my hair, it is still looooong and straight. I can curl it with the curling iron and it doesn't last more than ½ an hour. Total cost $6.00. The nails are usually $10.  and Hair cuts 4 but they are having a special if you get one other thing done the nails are free no matter what you have done to them.

Gord how wonderful that you could go the see David Jeremiah, I love to hear and see him preach, he is such a wonderful teacher.

I had my post almost done earlier and my computer decided to shut down!  >:(

Anyway, today is SALE DAY, so prayers would really be appreciated.  It started at 10, and I watched for a while, but was starting to get upset at things going so cheap....and I promised myself I wouldn't let it bother me.  So now here I am, and am heating water for a cup of cappaccino.  Maybe other items will sell well and make up the difference--I hope.

Anyway, see you later, tea kettle is talking to me, or screaming at me, anyway.  :)

I love David Jeremiah, too, watch him every Sunday morning, and just got his new book Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World.  Haven't had time to read it yet, though.

Hi everyone.  It is a very chilly and light rain day here in Georgia.  After coffee this morning Pat and I went to Kaiser so I could get my flu shot and she went on to the shoe store for a new pair of shoes.  This was the first day that Kaiser has had flu shots for their members and there was a huge crowd.  I have to give them credit for keeping things under control.  The line started upstairs and you gradually moved forward and then down the stairs to another line on the bottom floor.  It took me around an hour to actually get my shot and it really didn't hurt at all.  I wouldn't have gone today but we plan to be on the road on Tuesday when they next have the shots available.  I didn't want to wait for another two weeks to get the shot.

I am watching the Georgia/Vanderbilt football game as I am writing.  Georgia is not having a great year so far.

Janet, I understand what you are saying about needing to get away from the auction as I felt the same way when my folks things sold.  However, we had to get rid of the things.  I had to chuckle at the title of the David Jeremiah book you have as it seems you have been experiencing a bit of a chaotic world over the last many months.  Hope that after today you can pursue a quieter schedule for awhile.

Marilyn, it sounds like the beauty school is the place to go and the price is right. Hope you were happy with the results.  I don't know about that blue polish.  :)

Gord, that sounds like a wonderful event you attended.

Jeanne, glad you are happy with your new cable arrangements and that you were able to do the installation yourself and save the fee.  Hope you enjoy the new channels.

Carol, that sounds like a tremendous project that your church has undertaken to send the packages to the soldiers.  Our choir did a project like that about a year ago but think we only had 14 or 15 boxes.

Ed, it has never seemed fair when companies make better offers to non-customers than they do to their customers.

Jane, that was a wonderful surprise and it is nice they have given you several weeks of enjoyment to anticipate Thanksgiving.

Ruth Ann, we are seeing changes in our trees as well although the lawns are still very green.

Etta Sue, it is so nice to read each day of the continued improvement by Ivalou.  Glad they had a walker that she can handle.  I just did a Google search to see what they looked like.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Etta Sue

Ivalou worked so hard yesterday.  I think she is determined to be walking when she comes home.  I just want her to come home and still improve.  I don't think that is asking too much of God.

Today in Dayton, Ohio, is the 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' walk.  Lauren mentioned on Facebook to not forget your Dayton Daily News Pink Edition paper since she is in it.  I got the bright idea  ::)  to check it out online.  Here is the link to the
Dayton Daily NewsLauren's photo is the first photo.  She is a beautiful girl.  When she was thinking out loud about how she was going to pay for all this medical care, she said, 'I know!  I will write a book!'  After reading what she wrote, I think she could make a great selling book!

I am staying home today.  Michelle, Ivalou's Physical Therapist, is going to come to Ivalou's home and access it for a wheelchair ramp or not.  I will call Ivalou's son, Jeff, so he can be here also.  He builds homes and has his own contracting company so I am sure he can build a ramp!  Or two if needed.

I made some Party Mix today.  Ivalou said yesterday that that sounded so good.  The house smells sooo good and I ate one Wheat Chex and my mouth is party mixey!  I put twice the amount of goop over the cereal, nuts and pretzels.  I like that goop!  I will take Ivalou some Party Mix tomorrow...if any is left!

Janet

Etta Sue, I agree that Lauren is beautiful, and she did a great job in writing her story.  She certainly has a well-wisher here!

Larry, thanks for the kind words.  I am trying not to even think about the sale; after all, it was about getting rid of stuff, and we accomplished that.  So whatever money is left after expenses, I will consider a blessing.  And yes, I, too, hope we can live a little 'slower' now for a while and get rested up again.  Glad you got your shot, and hope you will have a wonderful trip.

Jane, what a wonderful Thanksgiving you are going to have this year!  And as someone mentioned, you have the time from now until then to savor and anticipate it!  What fun!

Time to make coffee!

Everyone must have been out raking leaves yesterday.  Not many posters!!

Too cold here to rake leaves.  It is 32° right now!!!  The grass has a white overcast that is probably crunchy!  Not looking forward to winter at all!

Jeff and Michelle, the therapist, came last evening.  Jeff has two ramps to build by Thursday or Friday.  And also some doors to remove so it will be easier for Ivalou to get through with her wheelchair.  I told Jeff that Ivalou is determined to work hard so she won't have to have the wheel chair so all of this building may be in vain.

I made some Party Mix and have some for Ivalou.  She will like that.

So today it is church, out to eat and then the hospital.  Lauren is here with Jo, her husband, and two of her kids.  I am anxious to hear what Lauren has to say about her walk yesterday.  I did hear that they had a large photo of her in the Pink Edition of the paper that was not online!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We finally have a pretty sunny but cool day.  We have a frost advisory for Monday morning and Tuesday morning.  Should be nice and crispy.

Janet, you ended with the same attitude that I did in that we had to get rid of the items in the sale and I was thankful that the people came and bought as they did.  There was one lady who stayed until the end (and we had an evening sale inside a building) and she basically bought everything left over with the intent of sending it to needy people in Mexico, I believe, or where ever her church was helping people.

Etta Sue, it sounds like things are coming together so that Ivalou will be all set when she returns home.  Glad to see your party mix survived the evening.  :)  I am sure that will taste mighty good to Ivalou.

I am ready for church and sure we will be going out to dinner as see no preparations in evidence in the kitchen.  Hope this is a great day for everyone.

Jane, wonderful news about your Thanksgiving day.

God works in mysterious ways, just love it and enjoy it.
Your Christlike manner just shines through at times for most to see and you never know who you are touching.

They see it and want to be with a peaceful, loving, family member at this time

You are Special in HIS eyes and I just "know" your family knows as well as your friends know.

By the way, just was told that my son is doing all the cooking at his house for Thanksgiving , too.

Can't beat that!!!

Carol

I tried earlier and had to do a system restore on the laptop.  There is something happening every time MicroSoft has an update and it isn't nice to this computer.

Gord:  What a massive crowd - you must been in some stadium or civic center for that group.  The whole city could probably hear your singing.  Glad that you were able to enjoy it.

Joyce:  Hi!  It is so nice to not have to cook the T-day dinner and super that your son is doing this year's meal.  We all bring something or I have it here at our house. It always works out well.

Well, I am going to check to see if they need our help in packing today at church - I forgot to take my mild sleeping pill last night and was so groggy from lack of sleep that there was no way we could get to early service.  It is almost 80* here in the mile high city and there is a race going on that they expected it to be really cold like it has been for a couple of weeks - no, a surprise warm spell.

Gord Brown

:)  Good day to all.  Wel I did not get to church today.   When I got out of bed to get ready to go my nose started to bleed very bad and I did verything to stop it.  We have a special phone number to call to get advice and they told me to go to the  hospiyal right away because it would not stop.  I am home now but have this special tube up my left nostril and it has to stay in till Tuesday.  When I go back to get it out if it starts to bleed again I will have top see a surgeon right away .. Please pray that this will not happen.

God Bless to all.   Gord. :) :cp:

Jane Walker

Gord, that sounds like something to be concerned about, for sure.  I will be praying.

I have been trying to post here all morning  :-\  Each time I hit the "reply" button, I would get the "page not found" message!  >:(
Finally, I checked my available memory and found it to be at only 70% .... Oops!  I just rebooted and here I am at last!   That's what happens when you're running a dinosaur of a pc like I have!

I want to thank Jeanne, Larry, Joyce and Janet for the comments about my "Thanksgiving surprise".  Joy and John are at the family cabin this weekend (in Sonora Calif), and she wanted to get an answer from me before they met with the others so they could have a good reason for declining their (John's family) Thanksgiving plans.

She said she will be calling me this evening to talk further about it.  You have to realize they are coming up here from the Sacramento area of California.  That's quite a trip to bring me dinner!   ;)  I'll certainly enjoy it, though.

Another thing about it is that I won't need to be driving to California any time soon.  I'll have to get them to bring me the stuff I left there after I wrecked the Toyota in May, though.  I couldn't carry all that stuff (from the trunk and interior of the car) on the plane.   :-\

Also, I now have plenty of time in which to clean my house and get ready for visitors.     I move slowly these daze, y'know.   :-[

Etta Sue, I am really impressed with Ivalou's improvement and her attitude ... speaking of attitude, Lauren's is wonderful as well!  Y'all have a pretty remarkable family.  You are blessed, indeed.

Gotta go ..... time for lunch at my house.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I have gone over and tidied up the kitchen, brewed fresh coffee and tea, made cinnamon rolls and crumpets, so come on over here to start a whole fresh, new week!
