Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Janet, I'm sure glad I don't have your kind of schedule.  I'd never make it!  :D

Hi everyone.  It is raining and dark here this morning with the continued flood watches.  Fortunately, the area where I live is not prone to flooding so it isn't a personal concern but always feel for the people who experience it.  In choosing a home I have always wanted to live where flooding isn't a threat and where the land is higher rather than lower.

I plan on just staying in all day and working on the computer.  I have several tasks that will keep me busy.  I think Pat plans on staying in all day as well.  I am feeling much more rested today.  Yesterday was just one of those days.  I only walked a half mile at the gym today as didn't want to push it.

Judy, glad you puppies are healthy.  Sure hope Kass heals up quickly and has no lingering effects from the bite.  Sorry to hear about your shoulders.  It sounds like we need to shake you and Pat up in a sack since you both have shoulder problems at the same time.  You would think you were related.  :)  P.S.  I know this is no laughing matter when you both are the ones suffering.

Janet, you really have a busy day today.  Sure hope that isn't ice as you surely do not need to risk having a fall.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you received very good news from your doctor and that you can look forward to recovery without further surgery.

I did get my money back on the sheets and ordered some others on www.overstock.com .  Then Kitty tells me that she heard that sheets from Egypt that are 100% cotton aren't cracked up for what they should be.  I ordered 650 count 100% Egyptian Striped Cotton Sheet Sets.  I guess I will see.

After getting my money back I went back to rehab to get Ivalou and then home.  Bette was here in less than 10 minutes to take us and Jane to our favorite Chinese place.  A to-go box is for lunch today...all for $5.95!!

Okay, now for a funny.  Remember Ivalou still has problems with numbers.

Today is trash day.  Just before bundling up to take my trash and Ivalou's trash to Kaye Don's driveway, I noticed cars being slow on the road.  It was 33°F.  I opened my door and my deck was a sheet of ice!  But I had to get the trash taken since I didn't get last weeks to Kaye Don's early enough.  (They have been here as late as 6pm but I got it there by 11:30am and they had already been here)

I called Ivalou and asked her to put salt on her step and I would put salt down ahead of me and be over to get her trash.  Well, she met me at her door with her trash.  I got my wooden cart from her garage with all the trash in it and told her that I was going to put salt down in front of me so I could walk but to keep an eye on me.

Now here's the funny!  She said, 'I will watch and if you fall, I will call one-nine-nine.'

We both started laughing! She is so hilarious in that she laughs at herself!  She knew that wasn't right but the 911 came out as 199!!

Just hoping that the temperature raises today.  Another dark and gloomy day.  I am suppose to go to Christian Womens Fellowship and the pastor's house tonight.  Other than that...nothing else planned!

Hey there!  Just stopping by for a moment to let y'all know I'm still among the living.  :)

It rained a lot during the night, and is sprinkling a little right now, but supposed to stop in a while.  Today is exercise class, so I will be leaving in about an hour for that.  Other than that, I don't have a whole lot planned for today, either.  I like it like that!

When I say I don't have anything planned, that's true ... but I am always open for whatever comes along that I need to be involved with.  I have said, for many years now, that I don't have an agenda ... I just "go with the flow" and do what comes before me to do ... or not, as the case may be.   ;)  Makes life a whole lot less stressful.

Etta Sue, I am getting such a lift out of your accounts of IvaLou's progress .. and joy in life!  What a great example of sisterly love you two show!

Looks like there are at least three of you with shoulder problems.  That's not good.  Let's not make this a trend around here, okay?  Pat, Judy, and Ruth Ann ... Get better SOON!

I can't comment on all I've read here, except to say I am praying for those in pain and hardship, and rejoicing with those who are healing and becoming strong.

Gotta go now ... but I'll most likely stop by again later.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Looks like I have to take Kass to the hospital again tonight.

Had a really good sleep last night.  Woke up refreshed.

Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'

Jeanne Lee

Oh, Judy!  Poor Kass.   :-X  I'm praying for wisdom for the doctors in treating her infection.

Kass has an amazing attitude.  I was angry over the circumstances and she kept saying "Mom its ok, God has a plan for this!"  She stopped me being angry!

Good news!! No surgery needed for the arm, and he thinks, based on my progress today, that I'll have an on-time recovery. He says these rotator cuff things usually take about 6 months to get well. Also, he feels that the messed up bicept muscle is responding well to the therapy, and shouldn't need surgery, either.

WOW, Ruth, that what you wrote and it sounds just like what happened to me.

Last Feb. surgeon said I needed surgery for rotator cuff and my bicep tear was worse than ever. He also said that I couldn't do therapy 'cause it might make it worse.

I, of course, said no, I will wait and wait I did. I remember my mom had the same thing wrong but she was 92 at the time and of course surgery wasn't an option so she waited and got better.

And sure enough I just didn't use it that much and because of the tendinitis(spelling is so wrong) in my right hand I just tried to rest the right hand and arm altogether.... Now it doesn't bother me enough to even talk about it.

Yes, GOD is so good,,,HE knows because of my work, I could never have my arm in a sling and have everyone do things for me--HE didn't make me that way!!!

I am curious though what kind of therapy/exercise did you do for your shoulder. My mom , now almost 95 , does something with a towel across her back :pulls from side to side.

Thanks Etta for the email--I will get to it soon and hopefully have it running on our websites..

Talk to you later, want to put a prayer request in for my cousin's husband, removed part of his lung --found cancer and yes, of course, he was a smoker

Oh, Judy, just saw your post about Kass

Sounds like Kass knows the Lord very well, my prayers will be with her now for speedy recovery.

Amen to Joyce's comment and to her prayer.

Hi everyone.  It is a cloudy and chilly day here.  We did have some rain yesterday but not the amounts they had predicted, at least for our area.  I have a weather alarm and for the first time I can remember it went off last night to warn of a severe thunderstorm in the near by county.  Glad to know it works.

We didn't have many men at the Senior Center this morning for coffee but had an enjoyable time, as always.  Three of us then walked at the gym.  I had a man coming at 9:30 so we didn't stay too long.  I am getting an estimate of the cost of putting storm windows in my screened in porch.  He was here only about 10-15 minutes and will have an estimate for me on Monday.  If it is too much we won't do it but would be nice to be able to keep it cleaner out there.  Whenever they mow the yard it creates a dust cloud and we also have to deal with mildew.

I have a friend coming in a few minutes and we will work on a project.  Then the rest of the day should be free.

Judy, sorry to hear that Kass had to go back to the hospital.

Joyce, you sound like a very determined person and that is a good quality.

Etta Sue, glad you didn't fall on the ice.  I am sure attitude is helping in the recovery program for Ivalou as a positive attitude is so important.

Jane, I agree with you that it is important to keep stress down.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day today.

Yesterday's schedule got even worse before the end of the day!  When I got to the Dr's office, the girl asked how I was and I said, "If I were any better, I'd have to be twins!"  But when I left, I had appointments for three more appointments with other doctors!  :P :(  I think I will just stay away from doctors' offices from now on!  Ugh.  They want me to get a mammogram, see an ENT about a thing on my tongue, and get a colonoscopy.  I told him "I DO NOT WANT to get a colonoscopy!"  In fact, I told him twice, but he scheduled it anyway.  I feel very uneasy about that; Darrel had a terrible experience when he had his, and the doctor who nearly killed Beth has perforated the colons of three patients here while doing the colonoscopies; and my doctor told me that a doctor in Garden recently "lost" a patient after doing one.  I do NOT think I need one.........well, I will think about it, but I might just cancel the appointment.

Then I went to the care home for Beth's care plan.  She isn't doing well, so some changes are being made in her care and meds.

Then I picked up my friend and we drove to Hugoton, where we went to their care home and met the friend who was entertaining them.  She is a very interesting gal, a real cowgirl (to the bone!) and was entertaining with her ventriloquist doll.  We took her and met my daughter Diane for lunch, then came back to Ulysses where Tammie entertained at our care home and assisted living facilities.  By then, she was ready to spit cotton, so we went to McDonalds for a cold drink and had a nice visit.  Tammie lost her only child, a daughter, in a car wreck four years ago; and has taken her pain and anguish and is using it to help and encourage others.  She gave me a copy of the book she wrote about (and during) that experience.  It is titled God's Horse Sense, and is so good I couldn't put it down.  I read the entire thing before I could go to sleep.

So, anyway, that was my day!  Oh!  After Tammie left and I took Dee home, I went back to Beth's room to sort out some clothes she wanted to get rid of, and read her two chapters in the book we are reading..........I guess that's all I did yesterday.  ;)

Darrel and I are going with the Seniors tonight to Guymon to see a play.  It's a comedy, should be fun.  We will be eating somewhere in Guymon.

This has gotten too long, sorry.

My goodness, Janet!  Do you ever slow down?   :D

With the experiences and information you've had about colonoscopy I sure wouldn't blame you if you just refused.

I'm sorry to hear Beth isn't doing so well.  I pray the latest changes help.

CWF/Bible Study was fun last night.  Getting together with other women while laughing, talking, being serious and having fun is always enjoyable.

Today was physical therapy for Ivalou.  On the way there we decided to go to WalMart and then get something to eat after therapy.  Well, walking back to the car, Ivalou decided to get something to eat first so she could rest!  So we ate breakfast at Steak 'n' Shake at 11am.  Then Walmart.

I asked Ivalou if she wanted me to stay with her and she said that she thought she would be okay.  So I told her if she got too tired to find a bench and sit down for awhile.  I don't think I have done a thorough grocery shopping since September so Ivalou was done before me.

We came home and I brought my groceries in and put the freezer/fridge items away.  Then to Ivalou's to put her freezer/fridge items away.

The doctor office called Ivalou this morning to tell her that Uloric had been approved by her insurance and that her script was called into Lapel CVS and could be picked up.  Uloric is a new medication to prevent gout and since she took two generics, the insurance and the doctor had to talk so that the insurance would allow Ivalou to have it!!  Grrr!  But CVS at Lapel doesn't have it in stock but will have it Monday...for $108 for 30 days!!  Ivalou told them to go ahead and get it but now she is wondering is it worth it.  But she sure does hurt when she gets gout and has had it 6 times since July!!  So I guess she will decide!!

Anyway when I took Ivalou back home, she said she wasn't going to do anything else today but rest!  She is tired!  And so am I.

On Monday I missed my appointment for my colon consultation, I thought the appointment was for Tuesday. So my colonoscopy has been rescheduled for Feb 24th with the consult on the 19th, Janet it took me 10 years to make the decision to finally have  the procedure. My doctor said that if everything is fine  this time I probably won't have to have another one.

Fay went to be with the Lord Last night,  yesterday while I was fixing supper her nephew's wife called me to tell me that she only had 1 or 2 days left. I am so glad I went to see her on Christmas. her funeral will be in Bakersfield and she will be buried next to her husband. I won't  be going. maybe we will have a memorial service  later in McKinleyville.

Thanks, Jeanne.  No, I don't often slow down, but occasionally I do STOP for a while!  ;)  Thanks for praying for Beth.

We ate at a place called Hunny's last night.  The food was wonderful!  Ribs, chicken, cole slaw, beans, fried okra, and mixed white and sweet potato fries.  We sat at a long table (two of them, actually) and when they brought the bill, it came to only $5.75 each!  I was surprised.  You order the food items individually, like the ribs, and they serve huge amounts of them, enough for several people.  Then they bring you foil and a big grocery bag to wrap up and take home whatever you didn't eat.  It was nice we had a good supper, because the play was really dorky.  Cute costumes, but just a dumb play.  I know I could write a better one than that!  I just thought what a waste of time for so many people to put in all the hours it takes to do a production like that.  Oh, well........

Today I don't HAVE to do anything!  So I'm doing laundry, and I have a new little machine for a 30 days trial--a slice--and I'm going to play with that.  I will go sometime today and read to Beth.  It helps that I am enjoying that book so much.  It makes it easier to drop whatever I'm doing and go read to her.  ;)

I'm glad Etta Sue and Ivalou are getting stuff done, and that Ivalou is making such great progress.  Hav e you told her she has a whole cheering section here on CP, Etta Sue?

My coffee is setting here getting cool, so I am going to  :coffee: it now!

Now Ivalou and I are having a trash dilemma.  It hasn't been picked up for two weeks and Kaye Don is in Florida..he pays for it to be picked up at his driveway.  He called the trash people and they are closed until Monday morning.  I think they changed days and Kaye Don didn't get the letter in Florida.  He thinks it is because of MLK's birthday Monday...but it wasn't picked up the week before!  Just wish we had strategic dumpsters where we could take our trash instead of it being picked up but that isn't available in my county!

I recently found out my classmate, Rex, that lives in Mexico is in a hospital in Tucson.  His wife isn't with him because of being deported because of an expired Visa.  He is there alone.  He has had failing health since October.  Through his sister in Florida, I got his phone number and called him Thursday.  He has emphysema and his heart is working only 30% but he may be moved to another facility.  I called yesterday and he didn't know me.  I called this morning and another gentleman is in his room.  I just don't think Rex is going to get out of this hospital alive.  So pray a sweet prayer for his wife and him.

Another dreary day in Indiana.  I just would like to know who is hoarding all the sunshine!!!   :clobber:  Everything looks so dirty.  Even a snow would make things look better!!

Like Janet, I am having a 'don't have anything to do' day today!  I got my Reader's Digest yesterday...may have to read it this afternoon.

Etta Sue, that's bad news about the trash.  You're wishing you had someplace you could take it instead of having it picked up and I'm wishing I could afford to have mine picked up instead of taking it to the landfill myself!   ;)

I'll be praying for Rex and his wife that the Lord will touch them and they will know His presence and His will.

Did y-all just kip over my post that my good friend and former client Fay DIED!!?? Gee thanks folks.

Keith had to go to work this morning to meet with a client from Redmond and go look at a piece of property here in North Bend, So i had to rush t his morning a fix our usual Bacon, Eggs and Waffles breakfast before he left. We usually don't eat that early on Saturday.

I went to visit Fay on every trip down there  after I moved. and I am so glad I did. On Labor day she was still in her home but by Thanksgiving she had been in the  Nursing home for at least 6 weeks. I sure had some hard times being her caregiver, but she was  a very kind and giving woman. I never left there without some little treat for the dogs. Mostly it was something leftover from one of her meals. I even took the dogs to visit her and I took her on rides around the area even though she was almost blind and could only see shadows she loved those rides and would tell me from memory where to turn and what she had seen along the way.
Other times she was so stubborn that I left her house in tears.

Janet, you said,
QuoteI have a new little machine for a 30 days trial--a slice--and I'm going to play with that.
What kind of machine?  What's a "slice?"

Janet

Al, it is a little machine that cuts letters, flowers, butterflies, etc.  It is used in card making, scrapbooking, stuff like that.  I have it unpacked and charging, but forgot I did have something I had to do today--some framing--so I got that done, and now I'm waiting for the fellow to come pick it up.  Also doing laundry.  I want to just sit and read, but so many other things demanding my attention!  I am feeling a little envious of Darrel, who is just sitting and surfing TV channels--ALL DAY LONG!!   :P

Marilyn, sorry to hear of Fay's passing.  She did get to live a good, long life, and it's nice you got to be her caregiver for a while.

Guess I will go look at the winners of the challenge now.

Hi everyone.  It is a chilly day here in Georgia but no rain.  We went to a meeting this morning and then out to lunch with 8 other friends.  I came home and took a nap and am now trying to catch up on the postings here and my e-mail.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of your friend, Fays, passing but it sounds like she had a nice long life.  I know you were not only a caregiver but a good friend to her.  It is hard to lose friends and the older we become it seems the more of this happens.

Janet, I know you have to make your own decisions regarding the colonoscopy.  I think we all dread it and with the experiences you are aware of it is easy to understand your reluctance.  However, they do a great many of these with no side effects and the benefits of finding a problem early need to be considered.  I had one late last year and won't have one again for 10 years.  It wasn't unpleasant although no one enjoys the preparation.  Enough said.  You sure have been busy.  I just hope you don't forget to take care of yourself.  Sorry to hear that Beth isn't doing well and know this is a matter of great concern to you and your family.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you and Ivalou are getting back into a pretty busy routine, which is good, and being able to do things other than therapy and doctor visits.

Jeanne, Judy, Al and anyone I may have missed commenting to I was glad to see your postings.

JudyB

Well John is home.  I waited up for him till 2:am only to give up and finally go to bed.  When he still wasn't home when I woke up I was a little concerned...only to find out there was a mix up with his trailer and he had to stay out another night.  He got a good nights sleep.... lucky guy!

I am doing better sleep wise. Getting to bed earlier and sleeping better.  Tonight will be another early night.  Kass has already gone to bed.  Elizabeth is in for her shower then she will be gone as well.

Watched a person spend over 500 dollars on groceries tonight.  That was between ouch and boing!  even at Christmas I have never spent that much.

Well checking other posts, I'll be back tomorrow.

Janet

Larry, I did fill out the papers for the procedure, guess I will go ahead and have it done, but boy!  How I dread it!  :P  Glad you had a nice day, and always good to read your comments in here.

Judy, I wonder how large that person's family is, who spent $500 at one whack in the grocery store?  And maybe they do not shop often.  I don't think I ever spent that much at once, even when all five kids were home!  Glad John is home safe.

I played and played with the Slice, now have lots of bits and pieces to use in cards and scrapbooks.  They only sent one memory card with it, though, so it's limited what I can do with it.  But I did finally figure out the basics.  If I didn't already own a Cricut (does similar stuff, but a larger machine) I would consider keeping this one.  But I think even at that, I would wait, as they always make improvements and usually lower the price after a while.

It is time to put this weary body to bed.  My day of rest turned into a day of work after all, so I am tired.

A group of 40 years old ladies discuss and discuss where they should meet for dinner.

Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen restaurant because the waiters there are young and very handsome.

10 years later, at 50 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the food there is very good and the wine selection is good also.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because they can eat there in peace and quiet and the restaurant is smoke free.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the restaurant is wheel chair accessible and they even have an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because that would be a great idea because they have never been there before.
