Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Reactions to the Resurrection
Matthew 28:8-15 NLT

The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel's message.  And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.  Then Jesus said to them, "Don't be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there."

As the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the leading priests what had happened.  A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe.  They told the soldiers, "You must say, 'Jesus' disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.'  If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up for you so you won't get in trouble."  So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say. Their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.

What would be your first words to Jesus if he appeared to you?

Jesus' resurrection was already causing a great stir in Jerusalem.  A group of women was moving quickly through the streets, looking for the disciples to tell them the amazing news that Jesus was alive.  At the same time, a group of religious leaders was plotting how to cover up the Resurrection.

Today there is still a great stir over the Resurrection, and there are still only two choices--to believe that Jesus rose from the dead or to be closed to the truth, denying it, ignoring it, or rationalizing it away  What has been your choice?  Why?

Hi everyone.  Etta Sue, thanks for the weekly devotional.

It looks like it is going to be a good morning with the sun shining and not too hot today.  I have an appointment with a friend at 10:30 and will go to his house as this is the day for the housekeeper and yardmen.  Pat is going to have them work on the curtains and inside windows today.  She likes to do this at least once-a-year and it doesn't seem that long since she did it.

I will be going to my Monday men's luncheon at 1 pm.  Today we are going to a place at the local airport that has very good food.  We have gone there several times in the past.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional!  My first words to Jesus if He appeared?  I wonder.  :-\

My first words to Jesus?  I hope they would be said while I was on my face before Him.  I hope  they would be, "Oh  GOD!!!"

My first words to Jesus would be JESUS!!!

My first words to Jesus?   I don't know if I'd have any ... I'm reminded of the song "I can only imagine ..."  I think I'd be struck dumb ... or weeping at His feet.  :-\

I am leaving for class in about an hour and, afterwards, I'll be on my way south to California.  I will be gone a couple weeks to take care of some family matters ... I will check in here as I have opportunity and access to a computer.  I'm not sure how that will be, but I'll find out!   ;)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Yea me too Jane!

Thank you for the thoughts Etta Sue.

Lovely day here today, but things to do so have to run.

When We See Christ
(Click to hear music)

By Esther Kerr Rusthoi

Oft times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
But Christ will soon appear to catch His Bride away,
All tears forever over in God's eternal day.

Refrain

It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race 'til we see Christ.

Sometimes the sky looks dark with not a ray of light,
We're tossed and driven on, no human help in sight;
But there is One in heaven who knows our deepest care,
Let Jesus solve your problem--just go to Him in prayer.

Refrain

Life's day will soon be o'er, all storms forever past,
We'll cross the great divide to glory, safe at last.
We'll share the joys of heaven--a harp, a home, a crown.
The tempter will be banished, we'll lay our burden down.

Etta Sue

Me?  I think I will be speechless when I see Jesus because I would realize I was in Heaven.

What a wonderful day at church yesterday!  Church, Sunday School, a catered meal of chicken, beef, mashed potatoes, noodles, green beans, broccoli salad, pasta salad, dessert of different kinds of cake, iced tea or lemonade.  Then at 1pm we went up to the sanctuary for a Talent Show.  Everything from the church puppets to the church chime choir to the church singing choir, to singing solos to piano playing and singing to string quartets to recitations.  Get day and all for only $5!!!

Today was rehab for Ivalou and then we went for breakfast at Perkins.  Cold outside and rainy.  A great day to stay in and vegetate!!

I have finally come to read all the posts and enjoy the music.  Thanks to both Pat and Etta Sue for the devotionals.

Wendy will be having more tests in the near future.  The appt. with a specialist in Victoria turned out to be for another patient....they got the names wrong!  She will be seeing a different one after more tests.  Thank you for your prayers, I am so worried about her.

I had a small taste of what Wendy goes thro' on a daily basis and has done for eight years now.  Can you believe it has been that long....I could not walk or bend over for days and the pain got worse.  Wendy and Ralph had a four day rest booked in the US and were due to leave Sunday afternoon.  Poor Wendy had to drive me to the ER at 2 A.M.( They watched us both trying to walk and wondered who needed help!) ( Would have been in trouble with an earthquake)It was on Sunday morning as things got so bad and it would have been impossible to look after things (and me) as things stood.  The dr. injected steriods and anti inflamitory meds. into my joints in the back.....(Wendy gets this done by a specialist every six weeks, a number of needles in neck and back. ) Let me tell you....it is horribly painful.  She is one of the bravest people I have ever known....no complaints, just does what has to be in order to move.  The dr. kept saying how sorry she was to be hurting me.  I was willing to do anything to stop the pain.  It has almost stopped now and I am able to take care of me and a few other things, including getting in and out of bed and getting on slippers, etc.    So your prayers were most certainly needed.

Carol, has Don's hearing improved at all?  I think that cannon in Nanaimo should be banned if this is what is happening to folks.  Talk about remembering a vacation..... :(

Etta Sue, I have found AVG to be the best for my computer.  Had many a virus before using that brand.  I buy two years at a time and they are always improving the security.

Time to move again before my body locks.....

Pleasant Day /Evening and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Jeanne Lee

Oh, Liz!  What a time you've had.  I'm praying for your continued improvement and, of course, continuing prayers for Wendy.

The rolling luggage for sewing machines is really nice but - it has to be lifted from car & sometimes stairs.  Today, I helped Don lift some really heavy stuff from the basement bound for a donation.  It was good to get rid of it - taking Ibuprofen now.

What a hassle of trying to contact a human on this census deal.  Still no human and whatever I try is a desk or whatever that is no long working - this is crazy.

I am praying continually for a son who has a big change in his life coming - we will support him by helping him sell his house and most likely make it easy for him to come and go here as well - the dog is good with us so that is easy.

So, our life will change for a while as well.

Larry:  I do have the featherweight and really like to use it except it only sews straight stitch.

Liz:  Blessings to you and Wendy.  You even made light of the two of you walking into the hospital for your injections.  Let us hope you never have to experience an earthquake!  So sorry about Wendy's tests being confused with another patient.  It is medical errors that cause so many problems.  When I was 18 and first year in college, sprained my ankle skiing and the hospital nurse tried to sedate me for surgery - I actually fought her off & told her I wasn't having any surgery - she was so mad then found the right woman scheduled for a hysterectomy.  There must have been an angel looking out for me that time.  I hope and pray that your painful injections help you right away.

As for Don's hearing - the latest test shows some improvement but we can't tell.  He is going for strong hearing aids and gets to test them for 45 days.  I am sure that the canon in Nanaimo hasn't caused anyone else the same problem.  Don was a musician and they are apparently pre-disposed to losing hearing from a loud and sudden noise.  He had his own band in high school and one scholarship was for music.

When we see Jesus - I never can talk when overcome with emotion so I can't say anything.  It would be nice to hear "well done, thy good and faithful servant".

MY FIRST WORDS ON SEEING JESUS:   I know that we are to approach the throne boldly, but I'm afraid I 'd be like Peter after he denied Christ 3 times. ashamed and fearful.  I would no doubt weep.
I am a nobody
Telling everybody
There is a somebody
That can save anybody

I don't know that I will be able to speak upon seeing Jesus. I hope I will have said it all prior to that time.
Perhaps all that would bare repeating would be "My Lord, I am so very sorry."

Another early day for me.  I am to be in Noblesville by 8:45am for a mammogram.  Then since I haven't eaten I will find something for breakfast and stroll around Walmart to see if there is anything there that I can't live without.     I am going alone so I hope it will be enjoyable and leisurely.

It is quite cold here for this time of year.  Only 46 degrees.  But it is suppose to be sunny today so it should warm up.

SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Not much to say today.  It is cooler here with some rain forecast.  I just got back from walking at the gym and have something to do later this morning but the rest of the day is free.

Liz, sorry to see that you and Wendy both have been having so much pain.  Hope you are feeling better today.

Etta Sue, it has been quite a while since I have been to a Perkins.  They always seem to have good food and especially baked products.

Carol

Etta Sue:  You must be finished with your mammogram by now and I do hope you are finding a nice place for breakfast.

Cleaning a smooth top stove is the pits - you can tell that I don't like the black glass top.

Tonight is one quilt group and we will meet just up the block.

jimiam:  Yes, I agree with what you would say as well.   Isn't it a wonder that not everyone in the world likes or loves you/me and we know that we are loved by Jesus?

Janet:  What's happening?

Al, Marilyn, Jane, perhaps Liz too - I predict rain is on the way to your homes.

Jeanne Lee

It's a dark day - I even need lights on in the house.  We're getting some rain right now and the prediction is for scattered showers for the next couple of days.  We may even get a snow shower or two, and temperatures today and tomorrow aren't expected above the mid-40's.  (sigh!)

We have had strong winds all night and so far today.  I am concerned that there will be a power failure.  I hate it when that happens, but it does so often out here.

I have a job to do today that I am dreading.  I really don't like decluttering.  BUT it must be done.

Be back later.

Lots of rain here. Last night the house sprang two leaks, The chandelier in the dining room was  just pouring out the water. Also the  skylight in the master bath. Gotta run

Oh, Marilyn, that can be dangerous - especially when the water comes down an electrical fixture.  Please be careful.

Marilyn make sure you keep that light off. Be careful.

The three puppies we have left are enjoying the wind.  I love watching them frolic with their fur ruffling.

Off again to get more done.

No wonder it is cold here!!!  It is snowing outside!!!

jimiam

All:  Myyyy goodness, 40 degree days and snowing! I'm embarrassed that I've been complaining about mid 60's f.

Carol: You are so right. Ironic, I CAN understand why, not everyone loves me, but CAN'T understand why Jesus does.

Judy we are due for a few more days of rain then two of no rain and rain again. I put my emergency lantern on the  dining room table to use instead of the chandelier. I have Shampooed the family room carpet this morning and I still want to do the living and dining rooms Keith's sister is coming out for a visit at the end of May after Keith's oldest son's graduation from  medical school on June 1st . I want the place to be nice and clean not only for her visit but we will be leaving for Sunriver June 5th for 8 days. It will be nice to come home to a nice clean house.

I am  taking lessons in Photoshop now. It is just the beginning and I am already liking it very much. Gotta go vacuum the living room now.

Well, FINALLY I've been able to get back online. The company that did the tuneup on my computer surely did a good job!

All seems about normal here in Nashville (except for really cool temps).

Oh, my goodness...the absolute joy of seeing Jesus would definitely strike me dumb, but my way of worship is to wipe the tears. There would most likely be a big puddle that day.

Much love to all.

Checking in from California ....   I drove as far as Redding yesterday and, because I'd promised, spent the night to drive on to Sacramento this morning.  I have been to Yountville for a visit with Tom and am now at my grandson's home, because Joy "forgot" to leave her computer home for me to use!  :-[

Rain ??  Off and on during the day today, but nothing that I couldn't handle.  I know it's really raining in Oregon, but I have escaped.

I will be here, in California, for another couple weeks ... or at least until the second week of May.

Y'all take care and I'll try to get access to this computer again in a day or so.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I ate breakfast at Steak and Shake yesterday.  I found out that Monday and Tuesday, it is Senior Days with 10% discount!  An egg, a sausage patty, their potato patties, two pieces of wheat toast AND coffee....less than $5.  Most places that would be $10 with tip!

Today was the first day for about a week that I could sleep in and in, I did!  I didn't wake up until 9:17am!!  It was cold...almost freezing and I was snuggly warm!

Rehab is at 2pm today.  Ivalou has her last speech therapy today but she has physical therapy twice a week the month of May.  We don't know about June yet.

And probably tomorrow it will be mowing the grass again.  My dandelions are all white!!  Better than snow, though...Canada!!

Today is a beautiful sunny day.  The wind has died down and everything is bright and clean.

For the poor, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.
