Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

He who began will not quit

"And I am sure that God, who began a good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again."
Philippians 1:6 NLT

Let this encourage God's holy people to endure persecution patiently and remain firm to the end, obeying his commands and trusting in Jesus.
Revelation 14:12 NLT

God's promise to continue working in our lives requires perseverance on our part.

Whether you are an athlete undergoing grueling physical conditioning, an employee struggling under a mountain of work, or a Christian suffering persecution, the key to perseverance is a clear vision of the goal.

While the goal of an athlete is to win the race and goal of the employee is a job well done, the goal of the believer is nothing less than eternity in the presence of the Lord.

The writer of Revelation encourages Christians to keep their eyes on Jesus, who will reward the faithful, and to obey his Word to the end. When you feel like giving up, remember the glory that awaits you as a child of God.

He who began a good work in you
He who began a good work in you
Will be faithful to complete it
He'll be faithful to complete it
He who started the work
Will be faithful to complete it in you

If the struggle you're facing
Is slowly replacing
Your hope with despair
Or the process is long
And you're losing your song
In the night you can be sure
That the Lord has His hand on you
Safe and secure
He will never abandon you
You are His treasure
And He finds His pleasure in you

Judy, that's a message that gives comfort and encouragement - a reminder that God is always working with us and for us.  Thanks!

We had quite a lightning and thunder episode, including one instance where it sounded like it was in our backyard and there was a loud pop.  We lost power momenarily but we had not a drop of rain from probably 30 minutes of noise.  This is three nights in a row when this has happened.

We enjoyed a nice morning with our daughter at her church.  As I mentioned yesterday they have done an extensive remodeling job to make their church handicapped accessible.  Before a wheelchair couldn't get to the Sunday School rooms or the rest rooms as you had to get up a series of 5 or 7 fairly steep steps.  They fixed the side entrance where there is now a gradual ramp behind the pulpit platform and it comes out at the leve of the pulpit platform and the rest of the church.  They also fixed the ramp into the santaury so it is gradual enough not to have a powerchair get caught.  Our daughter played the hand chimes as a part of the the Anthem yesterday and had no trouble getting into the choir area.  This is a relatively small church but has been very accepting of her and others.  It takes her well over an hour on the buses and subway train to get to the church.

After the service she was able to go in her powerchair several blocks and meet us at a Jersey Mikes where we had lunch.  It was a very nice day.

Just have my normal Monday activities on tap for today.

Carol, those sore muscles show us that we aren't as young as we used to be.  Hope you are feeling better today.  Sorry to hear of the pending passing of your quilting friend.  It seems life is so fragile.  Speaking of quilting, somewhere Pat recently got what looked like a prescription bottle with a little pin cushion on top.  It is called Vitamin Q, the ultimate therapy for quilters "a true wonder drug".  Take as needed for:
Increased stamina for fabric shopping all day, quilting all night.
Improves vision (take until dirty dishes and dust bunnies can not be seen).  Soothes sore fingers. Promotes good humor.  It was prescribed by Dr. Fat Quarter  Refill:  Often.  Warning--keep out of reach of non-quilters.

Etta Sue, a long time without power.  Glad you were able to get your car out.  I have had to disengage our garage door opener on several occasions and it makes one realize how dependent we have become of the powered openers.  I still can remember having to get out the car in the rain and opening the garage before we had openers.

Ruth Ann, is your son moving back permanently from the UK?

Judy, thanks for the wonderful devotional thought for this week.  Jesus is always there for us if we will seek him.

I just heard from my insurance adjuster that the check is being mailed out today so am able to go ahead and get the roofing contractor busy.  Hopefully they will be able to re-roof the house in the next 2 or 3 days.  They wanted to do it last Friday and Saturday but I wanted to wait to hear from the insurance company.  We will try to be away from the house as much as possible while they are on the roof.

After re-setting all my electrical clocks yesterday, we got a thunder boomer with lightning and wind.  The lights went out again for a minute or two.  So I reset the clocks once again.  And just now remembered I forgot the clock on my CD/cassette/radio player needs reset!

A bright and sunny day in Indiana.

Kitty and her husband left Myrtle Beach yesterday morning and spent the night at Lexington last night.  They are to be home by noon today so she wants to go to Photo Guild tonight.  As soon as I get caught up online, I want to mow the yard.  Then shower and I will be ready to go to her house by 5pm.

And we got word at church that one of our older church members passed away Saturday evening.  The service will be at the church and the ladies will have a dinner at the church for the family.  So tomorrow after giving some blood for a fasting blood work, finding a bite to eat and maintenance in the pool, I will go to the groceries for items to make a salad for the dinner.

Then Wednesday will be the funeral.

Another busy week.  Also Marge, Betty, Ivalou and I want to see the movie 'The Help'.  It comes out the 10th so hopefully Marge can work it in her schedule since she is still working...and the oldest!!

It is always good to hear the Good News over and over in our lives.

Etta Sue: Does anyone remember the heavy as lead double garage doors without their spring openers?  And, trying to open them when the bottoms have frozen to the ground?

Larry:  It is wonderful that a small church would put up a ramp.  They must know how long it takes Stacey to even get to church - blessings for her!  Like the note about the quilter's jar!

Sweet corn tonight from a local farm - a little bit of lamb from Wyoming & greens.

Etta Sue:  Do you know your picture of kitties are always moving & twitching?  I think they are saying meow too - the dark one never opens his/her eyes but says meow.  Just FYI  :D

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

First, has anyone heard if their unemployed loved ones has found a job? I'm still supporting them.

A BIG bit of good news from me...the people at physical therapy asked me to wear shorts today so they could watch how my left leg is doing. So, I went to the drawer and pulled out the only 2 pairs of shorts I've ever owned. They were bought to take to rehab after my right knee replacement surgery with instructions from the rehab center to bring 2 pairs for the same reason. They've been in the back of a drawer for the last 3 years. When I got them, they were very tight. Now, it won't be long until I'll need to use those drawstrings to tighten the waist! How proud it makes me feel to know that I can now see the results of the 67 lb weight loss in the last 3 years.

Pat, I surely wish I could be one of those to meet you and Paul for coffee. Please let me know if you come within 3-4 hours of Nashville sometime, and I'll try my best to work it out.

Marilyn, that was such a cute photo of your dog - such a peaceful, relaxed pose. :)

Must go - have laundry to do tonight.

Much love to all.

I had an interesting day today.  I am in the middle of doing a lot of alterations for a dear friend.  Spent the day with scisors and a seam ripper taking out seams.  In the middle of this Kass had a friend over with the movie Soul Surfer.  What a wonderful movie that is.  I will watch it again.  It is about the young lady who lost an arm to a shark bite and went on to become a champion surfer.  If you can rent this one it is well worth the time to watch.

Etta Sue

I went to Photo Guild last evening.  Kitty called me at 4:05 and asked me if I got the message that they were having lessons after all.  I said no, I haven't read my emails.  So her and Cherie went on and gave my order at the restaurant.  I came along about 15 minutes later.  Great pictures to see at Photo Guild.  I didn't enter any last night.

Early today.  I have a fasting blood draw at 8am so I need to leave in about 5 minutes.

Yesterday our youth pastor and wife had another baby girl, Emmalynn.  Little Ellie welcomed her little sister at 8:28am.  Little Ellie isn't much interested in Baby Emma since Ellie is only 10 months old.  We told Krista we were sending Brad away for 3 months and she said, No!  Send me!  She sure has her hands full!  And she had a home birth with a mid-wife.

I plan to go to the doctor's office, find a bite to eat, go to the pool and then get groceries to fix a salad for tomorrow's funeral dinner.

Tonight is visitation.

Another busy day.

Another cool but sticky day.  Supposed to be scattered showers starting late this afternoon but it's already getting quite dark.  And I have errands that must be done today!  Oh well, if I get caught in some rain, no worry.  I'm sure not sweet enough to melt, and if I were going to shrink it would have happened long ago.

Another evening with a lot of thunder and lightning but not a drop of rain again in our area.  This makes, if I recall correctly, four evenings in a row.  I was gone for awhile during the evening but when I got home Pat said we had experienced a power outage for over an hour.  Now it if will just continue to hold off on the rain until Saturday late and then rain I should be in good shape with the new roof.  They will be installing it on Friday and finishing up on Saturday.

I had a nice day yesterday with a good lunch at an Italian place that has very good food and very reasonable prices.  The schedule is light today.  I do have an activity to attend this morning and that is all.  Yesterday afternoon I set up my Yahama Electic Piano keyboard in my office.  It is rather crowded but I am the only one using this room so it is fine.  I had had it put away for a couple of years and not played it which is a shame as it is a beautiful instrument.  I can use headphones with it so I only hear it.  My playing has gotten rusty through lack of practice.  I use headphones with it so I only hear it.  My playing has gotten rusty through lack of practice.  It has many other instrument voices also available which are fun to experiment with.

Etta Sue, we had over an hour of power outage last night with no storm in the area in terms of rain or wind.  So we also had to reset clocks and restart computers.

Carol, I remember those heavy doors made of wood.  We had a garage when I was growing up but it didn't have a door.  We lived in the country and didn't need one.  My dad had a big gasoline tank up on a frame between the garage and the road for his tractor and as far as I know no one ever stole any of the gas.  There was no lock on it as that wasn't needed at the time I was growing up.

Ruth Ann, wonderful news on your weight loss and I bet not having those extra pounds have helped your legs as well.

Judy, that does sound like a good movie.

Jeanne, at least this time of the year if we get a little damp we don't usually chill since it is warm.

Marilyn

Thanks Ruth Ann for the nice compliment on Happy's photo, he is a laid back dog unless he is begging for food at the table. Then he barks a lot.

I just wanted to stop by and say hello before I get started on all the  things I need to accomplish with my  graphics and html lessons.

Seems my email notification thingy got messed up again, so I wasn't around yesterday.  I worked a long day after a short night, so was very tired last night.  But last night I did get a full night's sleep.  I am always SO thankful when that happens!

My Kerri will soon be out of the very stressful and hurtful situation.  I am praying the awful stress doesn't cause her physical problems.

I think I will be keeping my two great-granddaughters tomorrow, so hope I sleep tonight!  They are really sweet children, but so full of energy!!  Whew!  But they do behave much better when their mom isn't around.  I have seen that a lot through the years with kids.

I got word that my new glasses were shipped from zennioptical.com so should get them this week!

Larry, it is great that Stacey's church has made it easier for handicapped people to come and worship.  Good for them!

When I walked, at seven this morning, it was delightfully cool!  But it got up to 98 by 2:00.

I am rambling, will get off here and go make a copy of some music for our former music teacher.  She now can see from only one eye, and not long ago, fell and broke a hip.  She wanted a copy of the song Cinco Robles for a friend's 90th birthday and 75th anniversary, and I found it in one of Darrel's Fake Books.  She will be so happy!  I looked online first, found lots of places to get the lyrics but not the music, and she wants both.

Later!   :)

Hi, friends, since I slept on and off all day long, now, of course, I'm wide awake. ;)

Y'all have a great day (when you awaken!).

Ruth Ann, I have been up since 5 AM....But the upside is I listened to a couple of REALLY good teaching programs, and Blue Bell (puppy) and  I had some good bonding time.  As long as Darrel isn't in sight, she thinks I'm just all right!   ;)

I went out to walk when I got up, but it was too dark (I stumbled over a little tree, then nearly hung myself on neighbor's clothesline) and it is really windy today, too.  So I didn't go very far, decided to come back to the house.  :-\

My you each be blessed today as you walk with our dear Lord.

I am off today to work at church for the family dinner after a funeral.  Always great fellowship with some great ladies.  Yesterday I was ready to back out...my body ached all over.  What a blessing a great night's rest is.  Today I am raring to go!

And today's high is to be 82 degrees!  Whoo-eee!  All our records have stopped.  Our 90 degree and above string of days are over.  Even the 85 degree and above is over!  Yay!

I am  just back from the Farmers Market, I  bought 3 big cucumbers (already made marinated Cucumbers out of them), two big  bunches of Broccoli, a package of Spinach and a some nice tomatoes.  I also went across the street from here to check on the ripeness of the Blackberries, as soon at they are  pickable I am going to make Blackberry Jelly.

Not much else going on yet, I am going to work on my html lesson, this is the last one fo the forms group of lessons, then the final for this class. I will register for another class afterward.

have a great day everyone.

Janet:  Please wait until there is some light before you take another early AM walk.  We humans cannot see in the dark.

Quilting group was last night and the gals needed to talk about the member who is suffering from cancer.

Ruth Ann:  Praying here daily for those out of work - our SIL has not been paid in almost two months (he works for overseas people) & has been trying so hard for interviews.  Do you have a relative or close friend out of work?  Blessings for all of them.  Congrats on the terrific weight loss.

On a bright side, our granddaughter is coming for a visit for a few days.  She wants to do a little work for us and we will take her to a few special places and see if she wants to sew anything.

This afternoon is monthly needle arts group.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

No, I don't have a relative out of work now, but have certainly worried and prayed for several of my friends.

I'll be off to the Longevity Center here at the apartments soon - need to begin doing those water and other exercises as prescribed by the physical therapy folks.

Y'all have a great day with the Lord,

Hi everyone. Another day without rain but it was hot and muggy yesterday and more of the same today. Just hadBible study and choir tonight on the schedule. I am making a list of things to do on Friday while the roofers are here so I can be away from the house as much as possible. Pat is making similar plans. We will probably end of spending the afternoon at the library.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on this Thursday morning in Atlanta.  I was surprised to come here and see I was the last to post here yesterday so will be brief again today.  My main activity today is to see the dentist to have a filling in my front tooth replaced.  I noticed a few days ago that it was missing so want to get it replaced before any damage is done.  Then I have the rest of the day to myself.  The shingles for the new roof should be delivered here today.

We had a good choir practice last night with almost everyone present.  Our choir director and her assistant are attending a choir music two-day workshop which features three different composers of Christian choir music.  They came back last year with some very beautiful pieces so looking forward to what they find this year.  Apparently these choir professionals spend two days singing through many different pieces of music and they love the experience.

Microsoft downloaded new updates to Windows last evening that seem to have wiped out a great deal of my profile and setup.  If this has happened to others they are going to have a storm on their hands.

Soon be time for coffee to get this exciting day started.  After all it is the day the Lord has made so I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Etta Sue

My laptop updated last night by Microsoft also.  But I haven't noticed any problems....yet.

The church lunch for about 85 people went very well.  Country cooking.  Chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, roasted brisket, lasagne, all kinds of salads, fresh tomatoes, homemade bread, and plenty of desserts...coffee, iced tea and lemonade.  We use our china and silverware for these events so there is plenty of dish washing afterwards!  Our new kitchen in the new building will have two industrial dishwashers.  That will be very nice.

I was really tired when I took Sylvia back home but stopped at the bank and Dollar General in Pendleton.  Then I saw the Ice Shack.  Shaved ice with flavors.  I got a small one with coconut and pineapple flavors.  I then pulled my car under a shade tree and cooled off eating my Icee.

Today is my class lunch...back at Pendleton.  I need to get hot dog buns for FROGGS Saturday and then home.  Nothing the rest of the day or tomorrow!!  Just need to make my Candy Crackers for a snack for Saturday!

So sad to get the notifications that two of my friends on Seniors and Friends have passed away.  I met them in Calgary.

Janet

What's going on with everybody today?  Only two posts all day!!

I certainly hope your days were better than ours was!  Darrel got up to go to the bathroom at 3:30 this morning and stepped in water! Squish, splash!!  Ugh.  Seems a relay in the well stuck on open, the pressure built up and backed up the lines and blew the tube behind the refrigerator.  Hard to imagine how much water can blow through a quarter inch tube!  So we have been doing back breaking work all day long, since 3:30 AM.  The entire house was flooded, including the garage and Darrel's  closet, along with linen closet and winter clothes closets.  Sigh.........  Thank God for four very hard-working people from the cleaning company who came right away with all their vacuums, fans, and other equipment and worked hard all day, too.  They ended up cutting the carpet in pieces and throwing it all out in the yard, then scooping up the remains of the padding.  What a mess.  We had to unload all the furniture, move what we could, etc.  Bookcases, china cabinets, curio cabinets, entertainment center, bed.........whew.  I am exhausted.  And we are at the Corporate East Hotel in Ulysses for tonight and tomorrow night, plus more if things are not dried out.  Mold and mildew grow really fast in the heat, and the sheet rock already tests wet up about 18 inches from the floor.  So they are going to remove all our baseboards, too.

I am trying to look at the bright side--everything will get cleaned and sorted, lots of stuff we will get rid of, and while the carpets are out I want to get the cracks in the ceiling fixed and also do some painting.  Have been putting it off and dreading it because it makes such a terrible mess when you do dry wall work.  I am surely NOT looking forward to what these next few weeks will hold, but will be nice when it's all done.

And now I am saying goodnight and heading for a hot shower and a clean bed.  Have to be up and out early tomorrow!  I'm supposed to be at my painting friend's house before 8 in a neighboring town.  We are going to our seminar in Newton, and since there's not much I can do at home, I guess I will go ahead and go, even though at this minute, the only thing that sounds good is rest, getting rid of aches and pains and SLEEP.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Carol

Whew, Janet!  Nice that you can look on the bright side.  Sorry about the mess for you two and all of that hard work.  And, it is so hot - so very hot.

Granddaughter is visiting and she wanted to do some work so I had her cleaning my cabinets and furniture - a polish cleaner.  Nice work.  We took her to a state park and watched some miniature airplanes being flown and the people there gave us coupons for free Lamar's doughnuts.  We each had a chocolate and my dessert for two nights in a row has been chocolate brownies so that should be enough for our cravings.

Must watch the debate from Iowa tonight.  Have never been so involved in researching backgrounds as this year.

Etta Sue:  Sorry about the loss of your two friends from Senior Net.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  A very nice morning but suppose to get up to 94 degrees this afternoon.  The shingles for our new roof were delivered at 7 am this morning and shortly after the roofing company rep and another truck arrived.  The truck will be used to haul away the old shinges.  By the time I got back from coffee the actual roofers are here and starting to remove the old shingles and tar paper.  So the project is underway.  There must be 6 or more men working.

I will try to stay away as much as possible today.  So far the noise isn't bad as there is no hammering, just some walking around on the roof.  I have a list of errands to run this morning and then my ROMEO's luncheon at Applebys at 11:30.  I will then probably spend several hours at the library this afternoon while the pounding is going on.

Etta Sue, glad you didn't have any problem.  When I came to my computer this morning it had been restarted during the night.  Your church lunch sounds like it was very nice and a very good meal.

Janet, how terrible to have that water leak.  Glad he discovered it when he did rather than later in the morning.  Having to get up during the night does occasionally have a good purpose.  You all sure didn't need this new hassle to deal with.  Sometime ago I put the steel reinforced tubing and hoses on the refrigerator and the washer.  When you get it all repaired and everything back in place it will be like a new house.

Carol, I have never had a Lamar donut.  One of the men this morning at our Friday coffee brought two big plates of chocolate brownies and they were delicious.  We each had one.  I missed watching debates last evening but sure there will be many more opportunities.

Etta Sue

Aw, Janet!  Water damage is so tough!  Glad you are looking on the brighter side!  Especially if you don't have to do the work!

And a new roof for Larry!  Bet that noise will be loud once they start roofing.  Maybe nail guns aren't as loud at hammering.

How about sending your granddaughter here if she wants to do some more work.  And bring some Lamar donuts, too.

Our class lunch was yesterday.  We had fourteen show up.  That was really good since the gal that sends out the reminder email didn't do it until a couple hours before noon!

I then went to the grocery to buy hot dog buns for tomorrow.  And of course, came out with more than just the buns.

Today I am making the Candy Crackers for my snack to share tomorrow for FROGGS.  I can't remember how many it makes but if it doesn't look like many, I will make a second batch.  Only have one jelly roll pan!

Not much else happening today.  It is bright and sunny with not a cloud in the sky.  And my WeatherFX says it is only 66 degrees!  That can't be.  My indoor/outdoor thermometer says 80 degrees.  I just stepped outside and I think the last thermometer is right!  And not a leaf is moving!

My Surprise Lilies are up!  More this year than ever!  Bet there is close to 75 in one area!  Not in bloom yet...maybe tomorrow!

JAnet that is terrible!  I can imagine how bad it would have been if Daryl haden't got up!  Wish I was there to help.

Janet, how horrible!  I've had a leak a couple of times in my bathroom that flooded the floor, and I know what even that little bit involved, so I can only imagine what you're going through.

I'm so sorry about the leak, too! Water is essential, but it can cause terrible problems when it's not in the right place.   :o

Am still trying to get over this pinched nerve in my back, so certainly understand why some people can't get to their computers if they have a good bit of pain.

Ah, well, tomorrow's another day, and I'll be at the Y taking the exercises the physical therapist has devised.

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Love to everyone,

Hi everyone.

Another Saturday morning.  The good news is that the roofers are back on the roof and should finish the roofing job by the end of the day.  The bad news is that the roofers are on the roof and it is only 7 am.  I am up and about but my wife was still sleeping.  However it is just for one day and there are some showers in the forecast by late afternoon so no complaints.  They pretty well got the front part of the roof done yesterday and worked until after 8 pm.  These are really hard working men and the heat has been bad here.

I had a very busy day yesterday running quite a few errands all morning and attending my ROMEO's lunch.  I had planned to spend the afternoon at the library to avoid the noise on the roof but was simply too tired to do so and came home and rested for a couple of hours, even got in a brief nap.  I then went to be early last night.  Feel better this morning but still a bit tired.  Other than going to coffee this morning don't think I will be doing anything else today so can rest up for tomorrow.

Janet, hope the cleanup/dryout is going well.

Ruth Ann, any back pain is debilitating so we certainly understand not wanting to sit at a computer when your back hurts.

Etta Sue, the roofers haven't been too noisy.  We have been surprised.  They are currently removing the old shingles from the back side of the house.

Marilyn

Janet sorry about all the water damage, I think that might be very expensive to  repair and replace what has been damaged.

Not much going no hear, I just want to make sure I posted a big HELLO to everyone
