Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Wish I could do the same, Janet. Hope you rested well.

After church we went to a restaurant with friends, went to have quick visits with two others and then home. I had soaked some beans overnight so put them into a crock-pot and prepared a soup.

Now I'm off to bring my grandson, the dog and pet rat to their home (about 1 hour drive each way).

I might be able to get an early bedtime, if I'm not delayed too much.   ;)

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I'm here and doing well except for this deep rattly cougth. Otherwise, though, it's been a good day. Too tired to tell any details tonight - g'nite, friends!

Well, I managed to catch a few winks of sleep before granddaughter Abby called to interview me about "the olden days" when I was her age!   :)

Is there anything good on TV on Sunday nights?  I miss Sunday night church......  :(
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Don't feel bad, Janet ... My daughter once "interviewed" me with the question "What was it like coming across the plains in a covered wagon?"
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi everyone.  Been a busy day.  Pat did go to church with me this morning.  Then we tried to go to one place to eat and there wasn't anyplace to sit and a long line so we didn't stay.  We then went to Chili's and while a lot of people were waiting for the larger tables and we got seated right away.  There was no way that Pat could stand and wait very long.  We had a delicious meal of a small cheese enchilada and a nice salad with chicken on it.  It made a great combination.   We came home and I rested awhile and then printed out a dozen copies of a booklet I needed for a group I am involved with and put them in plastic sleeves, which was a bit of a challenge.  I did watch the Atlanta Falcons lose their football game this afternoon.

Jane, don't those kinds of questions amuse us.  When we think back on all the changes we have seen in our lives it probably isn't an unreasonable question for young folks.  :)

Janet, hope you find something interesting to watch on TV.  I usually look at the schedule and decide I would rather watch a Netflix program.  I am watching an episode of "Wings' which I always enjoy.  Glad you were able to get a nap in this afternoon.  Nice you could enjoy lunch with Beth and bet she really enjoyed having you two eat with her.

Ruth Ann, hope you aren't coming down with a cold.

Etta Sue, that must have been a large birthday cake since that party would include all of the women of the church.  Hope you had a nice party.

Al, those power outages disrupt our normal routine.  I don't know how many times I have switched the light switch during a power outage.  Habits are hard to break.

RuthV, don't think I would like to transport a rat.  :)

I got home at 11:45 P.M., so I'm off to bed late, as usual.  My daughter was delayed by an accident on the highway..... so instead of getting home at 7:00 - 8:00 P.M., she was home at 10:15 P.M.

Larry: I cannot seem to build up any soft feelings for my granddaughter's pet rat, either.... it could by from a lifetime of dealing with field-mice.. However I do look after him, when there is a need, and send the Lord a little petition that nothing I do, or don't do, will harm him. He does seem to sense my reluctance, since he hasn't allowed me to pick him up.

I haven't had any questions that have made me feel too ancient, however when I mentioned pulling a wagon down the road to get water, I did get odd looks!!

(I notice that I am two hours ahead of the website's date stamp.... interesting!!)

Janet, I miss Sunday night church too, it has been some time since we were in a church that had a service on Sunday night.  But a few years ago, we found on TV a church service that was really worth watching, and have been watching it every Sunday night since.  It comes on Daystar channel, if you get that one you will find it probably at 7:00pm your time as we get it at 6:00.  It is called Rejoice in the Lord, and comes from Pensacola, FL.

A little story about something that happened here this afternoon that sort of shows what life is like these days at our house.  I had suggested to hubby that we go for a little drive, so we could get out of the house for a little while.  But he said no, that he wanted to go sit on the patio for awhile instead.  So, I put the cordless phone in his shirt pocket so he could answer if any of his kids call him, they usually do on weekends.  (I have three step-children who live in Amarillo and in Dallas area).

So, I busied myself by reading and watching a little TV.  He came in the house after an hour or so, and got in bed and went to sleep.  Then he got up, and I did not see the cordless phone anywhere so I asked him where it was, and he didn't know.  (Remember, he has Alzheimer's)  I looked around for it but could not locate it.  Later on, our daughter came to our house and asked what was wrong with our phone, friends had called her saying they could not reach us.  She had been trying to call us for a couple of hours, etc.

She searched for the phone too, and could not find it.  She said that the phone was turned on, because if someone calls and we are using the phone, it will offer them to use the voice mail.  (This is not answering machine, it happens only when our line is busy, and they do not hear a busy signal, only the voice mail offer).  She said if we do not find it, then our phone will be useless until the battery runs down on the cordless one.  Oh no, that could take days!  To shorten the story, it turned out that the phone was in his pants back pocket, and it apparently got turned on when he got in bed!  Oh me.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Hi everyone.  Since I posted so late last evening I didn't think I would have much to write about this morning but guess that isn't the case. Just back from coffee and then stopped at the gym and was able to walk two rounds of 9 laps which equal a mile.  It has been sometime since I have been able to walk that far without bringing on the chest and arm pain.  I was by myself as the other two men who usually walk are still out of town but will be back by Wednesday or Thursday.  There are a lot of people around this time of the morning so don't worry about walking alone at the gym.  The housekeepers are here and one of the ladies is a real handy person and just completed changing the flapper in the toilet in one of the bathrooms and then painted the stain spot we had where the leak had occurred from the shingles before we had the roof replaced.  These two ladies are really amazing and we are very grateful to have them.  The yard men should be here later in the day and hopefully the roofing supervisor will be able to get here this morning and check out the problem with the turbine on the roof that makes a noise when the wind blows.  I have my Monday mens luncheon at 1 pm and a meeting to attend this evening.

Our daughter called last evening and told her mother that she had been standing in her kitchen and felt a snap twice in her ankle of her good foot.  She went to the ER this morning and the x-ray didn't show an initial break and is now home with the doctor saying it is a sprain and she needs to stay off of it for three days.  This is very worrisome as she relied on that foot for her walking with the crutches.

Ruth V, I guess my aversion to rats and mice is having grown up on a farm.  Seldom would the mice get in the house but mother always had mouse traps available to use if one were seen.  It was a constant thing in the barn and we always had outdoor cats and a rat terrier dog to help control them.  Occasionally there would be rats as well as mice.

Janice, sure glad you found your phone.  It was nice of your neighbor to let you know of the difficulty in reaching you so you could hunt for it.

Had to come back and share this piece I got from a friend this morning.  If you need something to brighten your day take a minute to dwell in the innocent of children and their relationship to God.

Priceless!
God's Wife
IT WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF
I especially liked number 5!

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once
Talked about a contest he was asked to judge.
The purpose of the
Contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was:

1. A four-year-old child, whose next door
neighbor was an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his
wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old
Gentleman's' yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked him what he had
said to the neighbor, the little boy just said, 'Nothing, I just
Helped him cry.'

2. Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were
discussing a picture of a family. One little boy in the picture
had a different hair color than the other members. One of her
students suggested that he was adopted.
A little girl said, 'I know all about
Adoption, I was adopted.'

'What does it mean to be adopted?', asked
another child.

'It means', said the girl, 'that you grew
in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy!'

3. On my way home one day, I stopped to
watch a Little League base ball game that was being played in a
park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first-
base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was
'We're behind 14 to nothing,' he answered
With a smile.

'Really,' I said. 'I have to say you
don't look very discouraged.'

'Discouraged?', the boy asked with a
Puzzled look on his face...

'Why should we be discouraged? We haven't
Been up to bat yet.'

4. Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot
in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott.

Jamie was trying out for a part in the
school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being
in it, though she feared he would not be chosen..

On the day the parts were awarded, I went
with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her,
eyes shining with pride and excitement.. 'Guess what, Mom,' he
shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to
me....'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.'

5. An eye witness account from New York
City , on a cold day in December,
some years ago: A little boy,
about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the
roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering
With cold.

A lady approached the young boy and said,
'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!'

'I was asking God to give me a pair of
shoes,'was the boy's reply.

The lady took him by the hand, went into
the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks
for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water
and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.

She took the little fellow to the back
part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed
his little feet, and dried them with the towel.

By this time, the clerk had returned with
the socks.. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him
a pair of shoes..

She tied up the remaining pairs of socks
and gave them to him.. She patted him on the head and said, 'No
doubt, you will be more comfortable now..'

As she turned to go, the astonished kid
caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears
in his eyes, asked her.
'Are you God's wife?'

The Happy Birthday to All party was really fun and nice.  Lots of little prizes and some 'Win It in a Minute' games.  I was chosen to compete with three other ladies in who could empty a kleenex box with one hand the fastest!  I didn't win.  Close second!!

We had ice cream, cake and punch for refreshments.  I was home in an hour and a half.  Nice party!

The rest of the evening was spent watching TV.  I was in bed by 10pm.  After a 'J' night, I was really sleepy.  I do believe I caught up on my loss of sleep!

It rained in the night.  Over two inches fell.  In fact, a record was broken.  My sump pump was getting a workout.  I was going to get up and look in the basement to see how much water was in it but felt as long as I heard the sump pump, it was doing it's job.  There are dry spots in the basement so it did its job.

And today was the last day I had to walk my trash to Kaye Don's driveway!  Next week I take it to Ivalou's drive...not much farther than the mailbox!  I saw Kaye Don and Barb head west yesterday morning at 7:50am.  They are spending a couple of nights in Tennessee with friends and are to be in Bradenton late Tuesday....according to Ivalou.  I just knew they were leaving on Sunday.

It is a nice sunny day today after the rain last night.  Kind of cool but it is fall!!

Sorry for the Thoughts being posted late.  :(

Toothache!!  Toothache!!

Now I've been to the dentist and have a huge filling in my eyetooth.  Hopefully it will stay as it's a pretty large filling and my partial plate is attached to this tooth.

Now, I've started a new "Thoughts for the Week" and you can see it HERE
