JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Wow, I'm seeing on my random images the good photo of Ruth Lunn. How nice! I really appreciate those random images.

Ruth V, it seems that you and I have something in common (other than enjoying some of the games we have going here in CP) - both our granddaughters had birthdays this past Sunday. They missed St. Patrick's Day by only one day. At least, that holiday isn't the one where so many presents are given in celebration - so, their birthdays don't compete for attention. :)

Well, I think I told y'all about that really bad hailstorm we had March 2nd. My appointment for auto insurance appraisal was today, and it ended up I need a new windshield, a new hood, and have dents all over the car (even on the doors) that mounted up to almost $3,800 in the estimate! So, little Josie will end up looking like brand new by the time they're finished with her. She will most likely be "prancing about" with pride in her new "do,"  ;)

Our discussion are Wednesday night seniors service was about what it means to sin once we have been forgiven of all our transgressions. It was a lively discussion with many different viewpoints being aired. It was good to have an elderly theologian there worshipping with us, who waited until the very last to say anything, and then, only when pressed by our seniors pastor.

Y'all have a great rest of the day, and I hope to see you again tomorrow.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

Our Wednesday Night Live topic was on 'discouragement'.  Remember Potiphar putting Joseph in jail after Joseph did right?  Remember the cup bearer forgetting Joseph when the cup bearer was released from jail back to Potiphar?  Discouragment.  It took the cup bearer two years to remember that Joseph interpreted his dream correctly and now Potiphar needed his dreams interpreted.  Then Joseph was cleaned up, shaved and taken to Potiphar.  Released.

I got up early for me, thinking that I would be driving Ivalou to get her perm this morning.  She has so many days lately with her arms and legs in pain.  But they must be pretty good today since I saw her drive by a few minutes ago.  I wish she would get back to her exercising.  But she says you don't want to exercise when it hurts.  One lady at Euchre said she could tell that Ivalou wasn't as good as she was... :(

So that means I don't have anything to do today that is on my schedule.  I am hoping to finish another Chemo Wrap so I can take it to Noblesville tomorrow when I go to my Urologist for another Botox treatment.  It's been 7 months!!

No rain in sight for here.  Another beautiful day with very thin clouds and very little wind.  The farmers are planting in March!!  That's a first!  Yesterday we broke the record high that was set back in 1906!  Every day for over a week has been record breaking highs!  Soon instead of people going to Florida for the winter and spring break, they will be coming to Indiana!!

Janet

I just got back home after my on-air radio interview!  I think it was very successful, about 20 minutes after commercial breaks were taken out of the 30 minutes time allowed.  I got a nice comment on my blog (book blog) from Beth's favorite nurse, saying she woke up to hear it and thought it was great!  I printed that out to take to Beth.

Then I took my friend Pat to the dentist, the drugstore and a little shop, since she still doesn't have her car replaced.  Seems the local police were slow getting their report in to the insurance company.  They might get a car tomorrow.

Ruth Ann, your little Josie will be all spiffied up!  Will you keep her the same color, or change?  It's amazing how many $$$ things can add up to, isn't it?

I am hoping to be able to have an at home day tomorrow, but will see what shakes out!  ;)  I have promised, "Where He leads me, I will follow!"

It's so wonderful to learn how the book sales are going. Now, for more prayer that others will learn of the book and desire to own a copy, too.

Oh, I think Josie needs to be her original color - the soft grayish purple color. The official name for it is "opel." Next Friday, she goes in for a transmission check, seat belt check, and, oh dear, I forgot to mention to them that the front passenger seat seems to not slide forward/backward any more. But with all the different places little Josie takes me and my passengers, I want her to feel well enough to do a great job for our Lord. :)

Well, today turns out to be busy after noon. So, it's time to prepare to go "out n about!"

Much love to everyone,
RUth Ann

Hi everyone.  Today is to be another warm day.  The pollen was not as high yesterday but people are really suffering from it.  Other than a few sneezes it doesn't seem to bother me very much. I spent the morning meeting an appointment obligation and then another hour at Walmart in the grocery section.  I don't shop there often enough to know where everything is located so it can be slow going on top of already going slow.

Late yesterday afternoon I did get started on re-entering the data into the Golden Games database and will make that my primary emphasis today as would like to get it done.  We did have good news yesterday that our son was hired by Publix.  He hopes it will turn into a full-time job but in the meantime he will try to work two part-time jobs and still keep up with his online college work.  He is going to be busy.

Etta Sue, I am impressed with your Euchre play.  I have a nice version of that on my iPad but really have forgotten how to play it.  Where I had the appointment this morning, at a local church, they have a special room set up for ladies that meet on Thursdays and sew caps for cancer patients.  There were several in there working and they have nice working space as the church has acquired the old Snellville city hall and it is quite spacious.  I told Pat that would be a good place to donate any fabric she decides she won't be using but she didn't hop on that idea.

Marilyn, you seem to be having the bad weather rather than other parts of the country.  However, we would like some of that rain and think there is a chance that tomorrow will bring some our way.

Janet, I understand from my friends that hearing aids are terribly expensive.  Just remember your money in the bank won't do the hearing for you and be glad that resources like the new hearing aids are available to us now.  I know they make a big difference with my friends who wear them.  You are having success with your book sales because you are willing to put in all the hard work.  You usually find that has happened behind most successful people.  If the radio station gives you an audio file of the program send it to me and I will put a link here in CP.

Ruth Ann, you will feel like you are driving a new car when you get all the things replaced or repaired.

Give of Your Best to the Master
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Howard B. Grose, 1851-1939
Musician:  Charlotte A. Barnard, 1830-1869

Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every
heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof,
even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
Numbers 18:29

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul's fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave.
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Clad in salvation's full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.

Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart.
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave.
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Naught else is worthy His love.
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin's ruin to save.
Give Him your heart's adoration;
Give Him the best that you have.

Refrain

Larry, what a wonderful old hymn.  It means so much to me, both in words and also that great old hymn tune. As a very young pianist, I would often play that for an offering tune. :)

The first meeting this afternoon was opportunities for seniors to participate in the church across the street. Such a lovely meeting with many points of service discussed. It's so true, each of us has a way to contribute to our Lord's work, and to serve others.

Now, to a memorial service for a loved one who died in December.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  We are expecting some rain in the Atlanta area later today.  The main activity for today will be to play dominoes later this afternoon with two other couples and then we will all go out to eat.  I plan to watch some more basketball this evening.

Ruth Ann, I also remember hearing that hymn and playing it often in our church.  In my late teens I often played the piano or organ at our small church for the services and there are a lot of old hymns that I love that we seldom hear.

Judy, you are most welcome.

Etta Sue

I remember that pine pollen in Louisiana when Ivalou and I would be at her place near Zwolle.  My car was a Polynesian Green but when the pine pollen was plentiful, even the windows were the same shade of green.  And the Love Bugs...my, did they mess up a car fast!!

I got a surprise last evening.  Ivalou called to see if I would like to go to Olive Gardens to eat with her, Marge and Betty.  Well, they couldn't get Betty on the phone but we stopped at her house, blew the horn, told her to change shoes and off we all went.  Good food and good conversation.  The place was noisy and cold though!

Today is Botox day.  I finish Chemo Wrap #13 yesterday so I will drop it off at the hospital.  Also need to get something to eat somewhere, then get the kitties some food.  I need groceries and when I get home, I need to make a pan of cornbread for Cornbread Salad to take to Small Groups Sunday evening.

Big day for me.  And IT'S RAINING!  The farmers are shouting for joy.  Nice gentle rain.

Lamb of God! Our Souls Adore Thee
(Click to hear music)

Lamb of God! Our souls adore Thee
While upon Thy face we gaze;
There the Father's love and glory
Shine in all their brightest rays;
Thine almighty power and wisdom
All creation's works proclaim;
Heaven and earth alike confess Thee
As the ever great "I AM."

Lamb of God! Thy Father's bosom
Ever was Thy dwelling place;
His delight, in Him rejoicing,
One with Him in power and grace;
Oh, that wondrous love and mercy—
Thou didst lay Thy glory by,
And for us didst come from heaven,
As the Lamb of God, to die!

Lamb of God! When we behold Thee
Lowly in the manger laid,
Wandering as a homeless stranger
In the world Thy hands had made;
When we see Thee in the garden,
In Thine agony of blood,
At Thy grace we are confounded,
Holy, spotless, Lamb of God!

When we see Thee, as the Victim,
Bound for us upon the tree,
For our guilt and folly stricken,
All our judgment born by Thee—
Lord, we own, with hearts adoring,
Thou hast loved us unto blood:
Glory, glory everlasting,
Be to Thee, Thou Lamb of God!

I have been busy all day, can't see much progress yet, but little by little....

I think I am headed to the movie, The Vow.  I was told it's a wonderful movie about commitment and love.  Darrel won't go with me, so I guess I will go alone.

Back from the doctor finally. My cholesterol was up some My triglycerides were up and she told me  stop eating white bread and only eat whole grain. Leave the all white stuff alone. She put me on Vimovo  pain meds for my knee pain. It is naproxen and esomeprazxole The second protects the stomach.  She dropped the Crestor down to 5mg from 1; she said I could go ahead and wean myself down on the Gabapentin. The also checked my knee real good. A doctor hasn't ever checked my knee that well. I have a small cyst  in the middle of my knee cap the rest is osteoarthritis. I may need an injection in it eventually. I  did tell her that I would be using the Sensa. She was all for it.

We have been visiting my cousin & husband & she invited another cousin for a day visit so that was a quite talkative day.  Returned and Don worked on taxes while I packed and cleaned as we will be on the road next week at this time.

Janet:  Thank you for sending the email.  Your interview went very well - I know it is the short version.  So nice to hear your voice.

Marilyn:  Good that your doctor is taking care of you - perhaps you can walk more now that wintertime is almost over and that will help your numbers too.

Larry:  A lovely song.  Thanks for sharing.  Don is really happy with his Nook Color.  The wrong protective cover was sent so he has to ship that back and reorder.  He bought the SD card and it is so much more powerful.

Ruth Ann:  It will be so nice when you get your sweet little car totally refurbished.  Let us hope there are no more hailstorms in your area.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  The sun is out this morning after an overcast day yesterday and it is suppose to reach 70 this afternoon.  I got up early this morning and finished entering the data for the Golden Games applications and now only need to print the individual reports, which is very easy to do and then print out the individual participation certificates, which is a one at a time process using my color printer.  Then I will have this work caught up.  I have a meeting to attend this morning and then the rest of the day should be free.  We had a fun time yesterday playing dominoes with our friends and then going out to eat at a favorite Mexican restaurant.

Marilyn, anytime we can decrease medication that is a good thing.  Glad you liked your doctor.  It doesn't look like your numbers are too bad although have forgotten the desired ranges.

Carol, Pat really likes her Kindle Fire and last night couldn't sleep and was reading with it in bed up until after 3 am.  With the black background and white letters it doesn't create any problem with light int he room for sleeping.  Glad Don likes the Nook Color as think it is very much like the Kindle Fire.

Etta Sue

I don't know why but yesterday when I was getting the 15 Botox injections in my bladder, I felt over half of them.  Felt like a finger in a vise..then tightened..and tightened some more.  Never felt that intense pain since childbirth before!  I even asked if the nurse forgot the numbing solution in my bladder.  By the time he was done, I was weak and sweaty.  I had even told the nurse before the procedure that I have a high pain tolerance.

And, of all days, I had other things to do in a downpour rain.  I took a Chemo Wrap to the hospital.  Ate lunch at La Casada.  Then to Pets Supplies Plus.  I asked if someone could put the big bag of food in my cart and then put it in my car.  Yes.  So that's how I got cat food in the car.  Then to WalMart and a 35 pound bucket of Tidy Cat litter.  I asked a man to put it in my cart and then the cashier called for carry out help....all in a downpour of rain.

When I got home, I carried in all my groceries and put them away.  Then I changed clothes and went to the front bedroom.  I slept until 7pm and back to bed before 11pm.  I didn't get up this morning until 10:20am.

But the cat food and litter is in the house now and Hawaii is in a dry garage after sitting out in the rain last night.

I feel much better today but felt like if I did much lifting yesterday something would go wrong so I rested!

But the pain is worth it all for what Botox in my bladder does for me.

Today is cloudy after a night of tornado watches.  Sun is shining right now and it is drying off!  We certainly needed the rain...just not me out in it!

WHAT GOD HATH PROMISED
(Click to hear music)

This is what He has promised us eternal life.
1 John 2:25

Words: Annie J. Flint, 1919.
Music: William M. Runyan, 1919

God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

Refrain
But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.

God hath not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.

Refrain

God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
Never a mountain rocky and steep,
Never a river turbid and deep.

I spent the day today working in my studio, and can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel!  I have a few more things to put away off the tables, then need to give it a thorough cleaning, THEN I can work on some framing that has been waiting my attention for about two months!  There was just no way I could do it in the midst of the remodel mess.

I went to Sonic and got a hot fudge sundae!!  I get hungry for those maybe twice a year, and today was once!!  I also went and read to Beth for quite a while, stayed until they brought her supper in.  She said she didn't want to get up into her wheel chair for supper last night, but told them what she wanted.  Well, they threw her plate of food away!  She finally pushed her call button and asked why she didn't get her supper, and was told they threw it out!  So then she waited another hour for a grilled cheese sandwich.   :-\  Sigh.......

Things are really greening up around here since we got some rain!  And the weather is glorious!

Some days I just feel overwhelmed.......

Janet I don"t understand why they treat anyone like that.  Praying too.

Truly, that's inhumane treatment.

I'll be praying more.

Grrr!  If Beth isn't in the habit of saying she doesn't want to eat, why did they throw her plate away?  Serves them right to have to stay and fix her a sandwich!

After a restful day yesterday, I feel pretty good today.  I did my normal things yesterday...eating, reading, crocheting and watching TV.  I did have two guests yesterday.  Two of Ivalou's greats came over to see my kitties.  Of course, they couldn't pet them...they run when I go to them.  But they did come out and check the kids out and that satisfied Gus and Isabel.

I am ready for church.  My last time to run the projector for 9 weeks.  I think next week Ivalou and I are greeters at one of the doors.  That's always fun.

Looks like a cloudy day and the temps have really dropped.  My Droid said there was a freeze advisory!!  But it is 63 so I don't think it got down to freezing.  But I will wear my jacket to church today.

"++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++"

Janet

Thanks for the hugs and the prayers!  Just what I needed!

Beth usually goes to the dining room for meals, but is still having pain in her butt when sitting in the new wheelchair, so decided to stay in her room for supper.  And she had already told them her choice for that meal was the fish.  Good help is hard to find---and harder still to keep.  That's why I keep going back and working when Debra  calls me.  I have requested to work on Beth's hall whenever possible, that way I can keep an eye on things with her. (Not that I request to work, but request that hall WHEN I work!)   ;)

As soon as I get some of that framing done, I am going to work on a scrapbook of the letters, cards and news articles about the book.  I think I will make two--one for Beth and one for me.

Etta Sue, those Botox injections sound really painful this time!  I'm glad you got to rest and are now feeling much better.

Ruth Ann, glad your allergies are better!

We are having a guest speaker today, a missionary.  Should be good.  Our pastor hit a deer in his wife's new car this week!  Been there, done that, not fun!

I want to watch James Merritt now, see you later!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a bit cooler here this morning (52 degrees) but predicted to get to 72 degrees by 3 pm.  We expect a fairly quiet day with church this morning and probably eating out after church with our friends.  This late afternoon and evening I will probably watch the last two college basketball games to decide the final four teams.

Etta Sue, that procedure sounded terribly painful as you described.  Glad you asked for the help you needed.  I have done that several times with large items that are too heavy for me anymore and always found they were willing to help (guess they wanted to sell the item :)  ).

Janet, you know getting things put away in your studio probably means you will never know where anything is.  At least that is usually my experience unless I label the drawers or containers.  I love hot fudge sundaes and occasionally will have one at McDonald's.  What is the matter with the people at the home where Beth lives.  That sounds like a totally unacceptable attitude problem in throwing her food away without checking with her first.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I had lunch with my daughter and son in law. We hadn't met for several months, so it was good to be with them.

Then, have checked on local news items and now plan to pass on the paper to a friend.

Tomorrow, my hubby's last surviving aunt will be buried. She was 92, and only 14 when she and hubby's uncle married.

Well, time to rest, so will speak with y'all tomorrow.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann
