JennyW: Hello Janet! I check every day. I wish everyone would get going again! I miss seeing pictures and reading posts! 2025-01-24, 06:54:04

Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

When It Comes to the Devil...How to Think

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good
Romans 12:21

There are two mistakes people make about the devil. One, they get into demonology—always studying, wondering, and talking about demons. Their focus rests on Satan rather than on the Lord Jesus. The Bible says we're to resist the devil; it doesn't say we're to chase him.

On the other hand, there are those who are flippant about the devil. They have nicknames for him and think he's a cartoon or fantasy.

The truth is, we have a powerful adversary, the devil. Peter likens him to a roaring lion! A mature Christian recognizes that he has an enemy. He respects the power of the enemy. Then he clings to the power of the Lord Jesus Christ to overcome this great adversary.

ACTION POINT:
Is the lion prowling around your life? Take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and break free from his jaws of destruction.

Thanks, Jeanne for the devotional, it was good!

Off to church I go.

Janet

Darrel and Curtis left this morning for South Texas to get Darrel's brother Don's dump trailer.  It will be a money and work saver for Curtis as he guts their house to get rid of the lead paint.  That a thousand-mile trip one way!  So they won't be back before Wed. evening, I'm thinking.  If all goes really well and the trailer doesn't need new tires or other work, they may get home by Tuesday night.

:cheer: Marilyn is now pain free!!  :woohoo:

I went out to the Pizza Hut with three friends for lunch after church this morning.  This evening, Frankie Vallens is giving a free concert here in our town.  Anyone here remember him?

Larry, a little at a time gets even the biggest job done. Glad you aren't wearing yourself out with the sorting.

I need a little nap; then I have a story to type!

A TAPE TOLD A STORY

I went into this hire shop the other day
A Gospel CD. I wanted them to play
I wondered if the songs had a good going lilt
So I spoke to this bald headed man dressed in a kilt
But he just stood there and did not answer back
And the more I enquired; the less he spake
Is he deaf; I wondered; I prodded him in the tummy
I felt a right fool; he was only a plastic dummy

My face went red; my embarrassment was dire
Along with this dummy; more dressed in wedding attire
Oh gracious; I thought; your eyesight is not improving
I will only speak again when I see a "dummy" moving
A big head moved; at last a living guy
Can I hear that CD playing before I buy?
Yes----well all right; he grumpily answered me
Just hold on a wee moment; I have another customer to see

Dead on; I said; just take your hurry
I am not in any rush; please do not worry
For the fellow I could see was working non-stop
So I stood and viewed around the wee hire shop
But then I got tired waiting; so I spoke in a civil tone
I will be back again; but I must go home to Portglenone
Just hold on there now sir; he shouted; I'm free!
And in the music centre he stuck on the CD

So I listened to a song and it was pretty good
But I will hear another one; so at the counter I stood
My eye had rested on the dummy dressed in tartan
When I heard someone say; measure me for a suit here Martin
On the shop floor an elderly couple stood
I did not want to stare; I thought it would be rude
As Martin around the man's waist did measure
The result of which made the couple smile with pleasure

It is forty; said Martin; I am sure that will do
A pair of trousers forty-two will be too slack on you
Oh my dear; said the woman; that is great
I am pleased; said the man; that I have lost some weight
I listened to their chat with a bit of a grin
And thought; I have also lost weight for the burden of my sin
From my wicked heart; by Jesus has been lifted
And now eternal life to me has been gifted

The length of the tape may measure your waist
The length of your time is departing in haste
And some day your soul will take flight
Have you been measured for a new robe of white?
How can you measure God's great love for you?
And the depth of suffering Jesus went through
Can you measure the width of His arms stretched wide
And the length He went for you when He died

Can you measure the heights He will carry you to?
When He reaches down in the depth of the pit for you
Tarry not long to take that outstretched hand
For the length of your time is at His command
The length of eternity has no beginning or end
Consider dear friend where in its everlasting you will spend
In the depths of the darkness or in the heights of the glory
And this is what I thought of when a tape told a story

Well, it's late in the day and not many people since Jeanne posted the devotional yesterday.  Where are you all?  Busy?  Lovely weather here today.  I cut part of the lawn but then had to rest.

Talk to you all soon.

I'm here, Pat!  Darrel called an hour or so ago and said he and Curtis are on their way back home with the trailer.  All was quiet at Don's which is an answer to my prayer!  They should get home around noon tomorrow if all goes well and they have no tire or other trouble.  God is so good!

I do wish many of our missing members would come back.  I miss them!

Looks like it's mid-summer doldrums, Pat.   :)

Beautiful day here, too.  We've been told to expect "widely scattered showers and thunderstorms" for the last three days and a couple more to come, but no sign of anything yet.

Janet, my prayers continue for travel mercies for Darrel and Curtis.

Hi Janet!

Glad you're here.  Like Colin's poem?  Saw it on Facebook and decided to share!  Travelling mercies for Darrel and Curtis.

Hi Jeanne.  We've had a lot of rain!

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Jane Walker

It's an overcast day here on the Oregon coast ... temps in the low to mid 60's, but much warmer inland ... even triple digit in some places!  :o  This is why I love it here in my little corner of the world.

I have a man (a friend's son) who has been doing a splendid job with my yard ... even taking out some plants that I would have liked to keep  :-\ ... and he tells me if I get the mulch he will put it around in the flower beds for me.  He said 6-7 bags should do it, so I went to the store today to get 7 bags of wood chips/mulch .... I paid for them inside and then drove out in the yard to load them into my car.   There was no attendant out there so I had to load 7 bags of very heavy (for me) wood chips into the trunk of my car myself!   Now my back is hurting!   >:(  He will just have to unload them from my car whenever he comes around next time.

I'm going to go kick back in my recliner now and just chill out for the rest of the day and evening.  See y'all later .... :hello:
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Pat

Does this man charge a lot, Jane?

I need someone like that!  I have some compost bags I unloaded from the back of my car nearly two weeks ago on the front lawn by the driveway and I just can't move them from there.  :)

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

Yes, Pat, of course I liked Colin's poem!  And you and Jane neither one need to be loading or unloading heavy bags of stuff!  Ouch!

I damaged my back jumping on the mini trampoline.  Dr. Saxon said I compressed the discs together.   :'(  I had NEVER had any back pain before that.  Sigh....  And I am due for my second Prolia shot to help rebuild the calcium in my bones, so have called my medical Dr. about that.

More wonderful news on Beth!!  She can now smell a little bit again!  YEA, GOD!!  He is so good---all the time!!

And...my carpenter, Lon FINALLY came today and finished the job he was paid to do all those months ago!  He put up the gutter above the front door and grouted the tile outside the door!  Yippee!

Pat, he only charges $8 an hour ... he has been "down on his luck" for a long time ... he really works hard ... comes on his bicycle and keeps his tools in my shed.  Sometimes he can use his mother's car.

I meant to tell you that I enjoy Colin's poetry and videos on facebook all the time.  Very talented, he is.

Nice, to-the-point devotion Jeanne Lee, thanks for that!  And Pat, Colin's poem took the backroads to arrive at a very good message, thanks for sharing it.

Just thought I'd drop in to break the silence here, and to offer Buddy some male companionship ;)

We could sure use some of that rain Pat reported...things are getting very dry here, and the fire danger is approaching critical, again  :(

Will be off to the eastern part of the country on Wednesday with my youngest daughter, she has an audition in Strasburg, PA.  We'll do a little touring around and goofing off beforehand.  Am hoping the weather, particularly the humidity, won't be too tough on us while we are there.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week, filled with the riches of His blessings!

Hi everyone on a hot Georgia afternoon.  Pat and I just got back from eating lunch and it really wasn't very good so know we won't be going back there again.  The housekeepers were here this morning so now we have a nice clean house and the yard people will be here later today.  This morning I took Pat's LazBoy chair to the service center to have the seat re-padded and the footrest problem fixed.  I had to leave it so we will be without it for a few days.  Now am resting for the afternoon and staying in where it is cool.

Jeanne Lee

Another wonderful laundry day!  The sun is shining and a brisk breeze is blowing and everything on my clothesline is already nearly dry.  Ya can't beat that!   :D

Janet

Good to have you here, KEN!  And enjoy that tour of Pennsylvania with your daughter.  You'll be making memories!

Pat, that railroad tour does look like fun.  Too bad I didn't know about that a few years ago when we went to Pennsylvania.  Of course, we were with a group, but figure they would all have enjoyed it.  Maybe there will be another time!

You do have the dates on your calendar for our trip in September, don't you?   ;)

When I visited Beth this morning, I took along a little book by Andy Andrews called Baseball, Boys and Bad Words.  She laughed and laughed , the most I've heard her laugh in years!  Truly, laughter is good medicine!  Of course I laughed, too--till I cried!  What a story-teller that Andy Andrews is!  He had a special on some of his books and I ordered it; got five of them.  Shirley especially liked The Butterfly Effect.

Darrel isn't home yet, but when I called him about 11:30, they had just passed Childress, Texas, so they should get here around 3:30 or so, he thought.  All was going well, praise the Lord!

Larry, did Pat decide to keep her Lazy Boy chair?

Our house cleaner will be here at 1:00 and I need to do some straightening up.  Have a great day, everyone!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Pat

I was wondering if Larry lifted that chair himself!!!  How did you get it into the car or whatever you took it in Larry?  Looks pretty big to me from my memory of it when I was there.

Janet, you'll have to remind me of the exact dates again.  ;)   Looking forward to that!

Hi Jeanne...  Wish I could hang my washing out.  Maybe I'll get another umbrella one.  Just need to replace the concrete in the ground where the pipe goes in.  It's not the same as a nice long line but still so lovely to see the clothes waving in the breeze!

We were to the vet with 2 out of 3 dogs today.  All shots up to date.  They seem to love this vet and the vet sure loves our boys.  We have an expensive time coming for Rambo.  To get his eye fixed and him spayed will be $800.  Not something we can do any time soon.

We had a wonderful time in the sun today, beautiful weather at last.  It rained last night, however it didn't last.  The farmers are having a dickens of a time getting their hay in.  Very late this year, it should have been finished 3 weeks ago.  With all the rain everyone is behind.

I am looking forward to heading to Pat's this week.  We will have some good "sister" time!

Janet

Pat, I thought about Larry lifting the chair, too.  Even with the back lifted off, the base is still pretty heavy.

I'll send you another email as the dates approach.  Sure am looking forward to seeing you, dear one!

Darrel is home!!!  Yea!  He says he and Curtis had a good time together.

Judy, how in the world would a vet spay a male dog?   ;)  I do believe you mean neuter!   What's wrong with the dog's eye?

I feel very strongly that we should all be praying for Nancy in Atlanta, GA hospital.

Here's the news item from the SIM Missionary organization:

Charlotte, NC — The condition of Nancy Writebol, a missionary who recently contracted Ebola while serving in Liberia, has worsened, according to SIM (www.simusa.org), the Christian missions organization with which she serves. She continues her battle against the deadly virus.

Writebol was serving alongside Dr. Kent Brantly on a joint team of people with Samaritan's Purse and SIM when they contracted Ebola.

Writebol is in stable, but serious condition and is receiving an experimental drug that doctors hope will better address her condition. Her husband, David, is close by. With her condition, he can only visit his wife through a window or dressed in a haz-mat suit.

"We continue to pray for Nancy's full and complete recovery," said Bruce Johnson, president of SIM USA. "Even though her condition has worsened, we know she is receiving the best possible medical care, and we are thankful that she has access to this experimental drug. We believe in the power of prayer and ask people around the world not only to pray for Nancy and Kent, but also for everyone affected by this terrible virus."

To date, no other SIM personnel have tested positive for Ebola.

SIM remains committed to the safety of all personnel in affected areas and is in the process of removing all non-essential employees from Liberia. SIM is not releasing a timeline for the evacuations or destinations because of a respect for the privacy of its personnel. The missions organization is taking safeguards that exceed the standards recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.

Despite these perilous conditions, SIM remains committed to Liberia. The organization currently has two SIM doctors caring for Writebol and Brantly, and SIM's Liberian staff is still engaged in the region. SIM ministries, including its radio station, school and HIV-AIDS public health education group, continue to operate.

The latest updates on Writebol's condition and its role in the Ebola epidemic in Liberia are available at SIM's website, www.simusa.org.

SIM is an international Christian mission with a staff of nearly 3,000 workers serving in more than 65 countries. In addition to medicine, SIM serves on every continent in areas of education, community development, public health and Christian witness. While SIM stood for Sudan Interior Mission when it was founded 120 years ago, it is now a global mission known as SIM. Two of SIM's three founders died of malaria within the first year of the organization's founding. Yet SIM continued on to become one of the largest Christian medical missions in the world.

Thank you for that, Pat.  It surely is important to keep these missionaries in our prayers at all times, and especially now, as they face such hazardous conditions.  I pray the new experimental drug will prove completely effective for Nancy Writebol and Dr. Brantly.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I just don't know how the days slip together, and I forget to turn on the computer. :(

I miss y'all!

I have a quarterly appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning, so I'll be teasing the lady who draws blood and asking her to give me a sticker that says: Kiss me - I gave! She usually takes between 8 and 12 vials for tests. So, I feel a little serious about that sticker.

It was good today to meet friends at Golden Corral - I really enjoy their baked fish and, of course, a great variety of vegetables. Besides, the best part was getting to be with my friends. They are currently living about 20 miles away, so only get into Nashville when the need arises, as it did today.

Well, must close for tonight this morning. The alarm is going to ring extra early for me, I think! :)

Love to all,
Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jeanne Lee

Ruth Ann, whenever you do remember to turn on the computer, we are always glad to hear from you.   :)
