JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Greetings Larry  If you look at YouTube, do listen to a UK chap called Paul Potts and one of Kelly's favourites Kathryn Jenkins.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We are supposed to have a cloudy and light rain morning and then this afternoon it is to clear out and we will have some wind.  We will get only into the high 70's today.  Yesterday was another lost day for me in that I was up only 2 hours in the morning and then 3 hours around supper time.  I wasn't sleeping during this time but too weary to stay up and spent the hours with my eyes closed and listening to my audio book.  I am hoping today will be better but still pretty weary.  I plan on spending 2 hours here in my office as have some things that I would like to get done or at least start on.  I don't have anything I need to leave the house for until next Tuesday when I have another doctor's appointment.  Scott was here again yesterday afternoon late and spent a few hours with us.  He helped his mother in the kitchen in fixing the mac and cheese with ham in the Instant Pot and it was delicious.

Ellie, I have made myself a not to check out the two names you mention on YouTube.  I don't spend much time on YouTube.

Carol

Good sunny but cool morning here.  I'll take it so gratefully.  Grateful that our first grand to get a big girl job will begin at the end of the month.  She even negotiated a bit of time before she starts and a bit more raise - graduates University in Fort Collins first.

It was good news for the family after so much sad news  -

Ellie: I wrote the singer's names and will check very soon. Thank you.

Yesterday, I baked a loaf of gluten-free bread - it looks wonderful - it is tasteless.

We (and most of the church meet for coffee at Panera.  They told me Panera (here) was closed on Easter.  There is a Christian group that bought out Panera.  So, we have Kneaders and that is closed on Sundays always & I don't know yet if this Panera is closed every Sunday.

Things are changing....isn't it nice to have some good news?

Carol

Larry:  It is very nice to "see" you this morning.  Scott is a good son to you and Pat.

Greetings Larry  It is cool on the Isle of Man today with a strong breeze and heavy rain this morning.

Greetings Carol  Let me know what you think of the two singers I mentioned, I do like Paul Potts and I wonder why hubby likes Kathryn Jenkins  :)

Marilyn

Good Morning good to see a post from Larry today. I pray you will get through the day doing what you had planned.

Today is the Hospice Volunteers Appreciation luncheon at the casino. There will be  some drawing for prizes that another volunteer and I  put in beautiful packaging. I plan to have the stuffed chicken, last year I had the salmon, there will also be Pasta Primavera for those who do not eat meat.

Carol sorry you gluten free bread came out so beautiful and yet tasteless.Have you tried coconut flour?, that might change the taste a bit.

Ellie, I wanted to come back this morning and tell you I am listening to Paul Potts singe in Spotify and will set up a play list as there is a lot of his music available.  Nessun Dorma is one of my favorite arias and have listened to it many time over the years.  I have heard of Kathyn Jenkins but I find I don't have a playlist for her either so will also check her out.

Carol, congratulations to your granddaughter in getting her first job after college. I am glad you have had some good news.  I have a good friend who can't eat anything with gluten in it and I agree gluten free bread isn't very appealing although many places now have it.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  Glad to hear you have found Paul Potts music.  Hope you find something for Kathryn Jenkins as well.  Very stormy on the Island last night, with strong winds and heavy rain.

Carol

It is sunny and a cool Colorado morning. Local news is all about the truck driver who came down the mountain at very high speed (90 mph)driving on the right side shoulder of the highway.  He then hit so many cars and killed at least 4 people and many burn victims. He was arrested for Homicide. Prayers for all the families.

Marilyn, this was a good brand mix and I will try some more recipes.  We can get different flour in bins. This was almond flour.  Thanks

Ellie:  I listened to both singers via ALEXA and Paul Potts reminds me of Josh Groban.  Very nice and clear voice for Katheryn Jenkins as well.

Greetings Carol  Sad news about the loss of life and injuries with truck going at high speeds.  As you say, prayers for the families.

Glad you heard both singers.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone.  We are going to have a gorgeous day here in South Carolina with clear skies and a high into the low 80's.  It was so nice yesterday that I spend an hour or more sitting on our front porch yesterday afternoon as it was in the mid to high 70's with a nice wind.  I did have a good day yesterday and hope for the same today although my shower and getting dressed left me very weary and by the time I got to the kitchen I couldn't keep my head up again until I sat down and rested.  Pat mentioned getting a hair cut today and if I am up to it I may go with her as I sure need a haircut.

Ellie, I did enjoy Paul Potts and am listening to Kathryn Jenkins now as I write.  Her voice reminds me very much of my last choir director who was a soloist for many years with Atlanta Symphony Chorus and sang all over the world with Robert Shaw. She was our choir director for 14 years and I will never know how our small church was so fortunate to her.  It was always a joy to attend choir practice and then sing with the choir on Sundays.  Sure glad you didn't blow away last night.

Carol, I saw on the news last night the terrible fire from that wreck.  He should have been arrested.  I thought it was illegal to drive on the shoulder of the highway plus he was obviously driving too fast.  So many lives lost.  I saw it was last night before that section of I-70 was reopened.  So many lives lost and lives forever impacted with burns and other injuries.  Pat is now using almond milk in place of other milk.

Jackie, I am concerned about you as you haven't posted for awhile.  I expect you have been very busy and are exhausted.  I hope you have started eating and getting some proper rest.

Larry Hanna, I am here...(((hugs)))

Seems like our S&Fs site is down...if not, I cant get in...

Edited to add, just looked at Richards bedroom calendar and only just noticed he had written Petra on it, the day she died, Petra was my dog who I lost on an Easter Saturday but Richard had written the exact date which uncannily was the same day-date Richard died 11th April...So not only did I lose my Petra (10 years ) ago April 11th, but April 11th was also the same date I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, just 4 years separating them..I am going to remember that date for the rest of my life and all for the sad reasons...

Greetings Jackie  Not that I post on Seniors and Friends, when I looked on the site at 1.21am, the site was working. Splendid to see you posting.  You are in my prayers

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. Just checking in today.  I am too weary to sit at my desk very long.

Carol

Larry: I hope and pray that you can have a restful day.

I am back from the early (7:30 AM) chapel service with friends at the huge church.  Don prefers the Saturday early evening service where we are members.  So, I often go to two churches on weekends and the mid-week bible study but that is over until Fall.

Yesterday was spent on trying to fix problems with my old Singer featherweight.  Almost. Don has been trying to fix the computer and it is not working well.  It is just that way sometimes.

Beef stew will be tonight's supper.  Hopeful that the snow melt this year will be slow and safe - no avalanches.  The mountains are beautiful with all that snow but dreadful when everything melts too fast.

Jacqueline

Ellie...
...yes it was back up and running soon after I posted it was down...Thank you and bless you for keeping me in your prayers..I am still very much needing our God's help...

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful day but suppose to hit 90 degrees this afternoon.  I spent about 20 hours laying in bed yesterday and still had a good nights sleep.  I still don't feel very rested this morning but am determined to be up more today.  Pat said she wants to get a haircut today and if I feel up to it I will go along and get mine cut as well as I am beginning to look pretty shabby.  That is all that is on the schedule for today other than resting.

Carol, it is very frustrating when machines don't work as they are suppose to.

Jackie, you are always in my daily prayers.

Larry Hanna

Hi Everyone. I see that no one posted since I did yesterday but I want to check in this morning.  I have an 11:30 routine annual appointment with lung doctor.  Scott will be here to take me.  Yesterday in trying to disconnect the old Dish box from the new I did something that caused us not to get television  from the Dish signal.  Scott will fix that when he gets here as those things are things he likes to do.  The boxes were on the floor and I tried to search out the problem but can no longer get down on the floor and gave up.  Pat and I had our audiobooks to listen to.  The only thing we missed seeing that we would like to have seen in Jeopardy to see if the very brilliant man won again yesterday.  I know when I get home I will crash and spend some time in bed as I didn't get a wink of sleep last night.  No particular reason but just one of those night I couldn't get to sleep regardless of what I tried.

Rebot

Greetings Larry  We hope you get your television programmers back on line. Though, not having television for a day is not a bad thing.  We can get rather reliant on the on our TV sets!

Marilyn

Freckles will be getting her first laser treatment and acupuncture this afternoon. I hope this will help her to be free from pain and not have to take the  carprofen pills.

Janet

Hello!!  Has anyone missed me? My computer has been turned off and unplugged for about two weeks, because I had a horrible hacker!  In the process, I had a good deal of money stolen through a credit card, and lots of other bad stuff.  My grandson Curtis finally had time to come by this morning, and spent an hour cleaning it up and disabling stuff they had attached.  :ticked:   Why can't people who have enough intelligence to do such things go get an honest job?   >:(

Anyway, I'm back.  Still having a lot of pain through chest and back from that fall in France.  They thought I had COPD, but I said NO, I DON'T!  Now they think I bruised my lung, as well as my sternum and ribs. If I'm still having pain when we get home from Florida, they want to do a CT scan.  Plan is to leave Monday to go to Florida to visit grandson Mark, returning on the 18th.

I have read all the post from when computer was disabled.

Jackie, good for you!  I love reading the Word, and I think the little Jesus Calling book will also encourage you.  Keep going!  We are proud of you!

Larry, glad your tests went well, and I know it tired you out.  Prayers continue!

Marilyn, hope Freckles feels better!

Ellie, I do not recognize any of the singers, but am sure I would enjoy them.

Larry, did you get your hair cut?  Yes that fellow won again yesterday, but it was much closer than it's been before for him!  He is amazing, isn't he?  Such fun to watch!

Our housekeeper is here, and I need to do a few things, even though my body wants to lie down.  :(  I'm certainly happy to be back in touch!  I managed to read some posts on my iPad, but I couldn't post.

Greetings Janet I share your thoughts on hackers!  Why don't they use the expertise they have and put it to goo use, instead of making people lives a misery, by breaking into their computers and taking peoples hard earned money.

Hope the discomfort eases for you.

Jacqueline

Janet...
... just a question, I have been reading from the Bible at night before I go to sleep, i am reading from the New Testament Matthew...I haven't started on the little Jesus Calling devotional book yet apart from the first few pages about Sarah Young's journey...So my question is...do I read just one page at a time of her devotional readings? and if so as I guess I do, do I start reading the one that corresponds to our actual date? even if this starts from four months into the book, again I am assuming this is exactly what I do...

Hi Everyone. It is already 74 degrees here this morning and we are headed up around 90 degrees this afternoon.  I did have a great nights sleep last night and didn't even get up to have my Camomile tea.  However, this morning things went downhill quickly when I tried to stand up and slid off the bed onto the floor.  I was too close to the edge of the bed and when I started to slip off the bed my  cotton socks on the wooden floor got no traction and the next thing I knew I was on the floor.  I tried and tried to get up but no strength in my legs.  I finally got on my knees but didn't have the strength in either my arms or legs and we finally called Scott, who was here in a few minutes.  He got behind me and just picked me up.  Once I was on my feet I was OK.  Nothing broken but sure going to have a sore tail bone and sure I am going to have some sore arm and leg muscles as well.  We have already made some changes to see this doesn't happen again including putting down a bathroom rug at the side of the bed and I will no longer wear cotton socks to bed but some of those you get in the hospital with the little rubber dots on the bottom.  I realize I must start an  exercise program.  I printed out instructions for me sometime ago.

Another friend from Sunday School stopped by yesterday and brought us a good main dish, which we had for our dinner last evening and enough left over for another meal.  She also brought out some fresh strawberries from our local strawberry farm. More importantly she sit down and visited with us for a few minutes, which is always enjoyable.

I had a few things in mind I wanted to accomplish this morning but will probably modify my plan as I used up so much energy all ready.  This was suppose to be Scott's day off from work but while he was here his boss called and asked him to come in and work this morning until around 2 pm.  Later this evening he will stop by Walmart and pick up Pat's online grocery order and come over and have dinner with us and spend a little time.  I am sure he won't stay long as will have had a busy day.  He should  be able to get a few hours rest this afternoon.  He should have tomorrow off but that remains to be seen.

Ellie, Scott was here yesterday morning and in just a couple of minutes got the TV working.  I had pulled a couple of the connections out of the wall trying to get the old Dish receiver ready to send back and I tried to get things plugged in but didn't have the strength to get where I needed to plug in.  Scott did take me to the lung doctor yesterday for the routine visit and I don't have to go back for another year.  No more appointments until a week from today and the following week have two appointments.  Pat also has an appointment tomorrow.

Marilyn, how did Freckles do with his treatments yesterday.

Janet, on our local news last night was an interview with the head of the Georgia Bureau of investigation who said the hacker crimes was their biggest problem in the State.  Your credit card company should remove those fraudulent charges.  Glad you are back on line.  It sounds like you will have a long recovery period from you fall.  Sorry that pain and discomfort will accompany you to Florida but at least you should be able to get some needed rest while away.  I saw the fellow on Jeopardy last night and he won another $90,000 plus.  I feel sorry for the other contestants and they don't fair well.  Glad you are able to write to us and hope you will have access to a computer while you are gone.

Jackie, I am sure Janet will answer your questions on the daily readers.

The one plus of my fall this morning was to get my bottom number for the blood pressure above 60 for the first time is quite a few days.  It is obvious to me from how much I have written that I am a bit hyper this morning.

Rebot

Greetings Larry Just a short post as I need to catch up on computer work, regarding house accounts.  Splendid hubby had the full Microsoft Office set up, as Excel is superb!

Sorry to hear of you slipping on the bed, hope not too much discomfort for you.

Carol

Weather changed from spring-time to winter while I was at church for the pot-luck feast and last bible program until next fall.  The temperature has dropped about 20 degrees and was I ever glad to get in the car to drive home - staying indoors today.

Larry:  Sorry about your painful fall.  Falls can come as such a surprise and no easy feat to get off the floor.  It sounds like you two plus Scott are doing all the good safety drills in your home.

Janet - for some reason I have always detested thieves and don't even like watching a movie about those awful people.  Sorry for your having extra work.  You best see a doctor to have everything checked out - take care.
