JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.  1 Peter 1:11

The Roman god, Janus, gave us the name for this month--January. His image was a head with two faces looking in opposite directions, suggesting the uncertainties of time.

As Christians, we too look in two directions but with no uncertainty.

In the past, we see the work of Christ completed perfectly and, with certainty, we look ahead and anticipate that the future glory will be just as accurate.
--E. Fesche

When the paths of prayer and duty
and affliction all are trod,
And we wake and see the beauty
of our Saviour and our God,
Oh! 'twill be a glorious morrow
to a dark and stormy day,
When we smile upon our sorrow,
and the storms have passed away.

:) :)A Big Welcome to GRANDMAENT :) :)

There are so many blessings here..some to take with you each day and share with others...some that you will give each day to share with us.

I pray that all of you will have a blessed day.  I just love starting off a new year,  a new day. :D ;)

love from  kathy

Sing to the LORD a new song. Sing aloud to
God our strength; make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.  Raise a song and strike the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the lute.  He has put a new song in my mouth --praise to our God; many will see it and fear; and will trust in the LORD. (taken from Daily Light)
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Welcome Grandmaemt (Irene)
Tell us about yourself.....

Soni:  Your 'puter artwork is Shock and Awe!  Love your stories about potty training - I had to stay with the grands to help them really learn potty training as their parents just couldn't get it completed - Grandma had to step in and put them in "Potty Boot Camp"  -

Everyone, have a wonderful and healthy day - a day of closeness to your loved ones.  I want to pick out a new daily Bible study that I can take when we travel - so, it has to be lightweight - any ideas????

Carol

Sonifo

hahahahaaa...Carol, "Potty Boot Camp"  This is so funny.  I think that is what I will call it.

Not sure about the study book.  Maybe head to the Christian book store and see what they have.  I really like the Precious Bible Promises book by Coral Ridge Ministries.  It's not really a devotional though.  Good luck in your search.

Have a good day!

Carol,, you might try "Streams in the Desert" by Mrs Cowman.
Margit uses this,
I use  "Every Day With Jesus."

Sonifo

Thanks Chris!  I know what you mean about the toilet paper...hahhaha...what is it with that stuff and children?

Mullet is still sleeping.  ::) Should I splash cold water on him? heheheeee...I better be quiet because he will be reading this later.  I love you, Mullet.  You rock, son!   ;D

Pat

Carol, the devotional that Chris mentions is really a good one.  I've not been using it lately as my book (which was my father's and mother's) is packed away and I must get it out.  But on the net you can get Mrs. Cowman's devotionals every day on the Back to the Bible site.

Here's today's...

Streams in the Desert
Climb Upward
by Mrs. Charles E. Cowman

"And there was an enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the. winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst"
(Ezek. 41:7).

"Still upward be thine onward course:
For this I pray today;
Still upward as the years go by,
And seasons pass away.

"Still upward in this coming year,
Thy path is all untried;
Still upward may'st thou journey on,
Close by thy Saviors side.

"Still upward e'en though sorrow come,
And trials crush thine heart;
Still upward may they draw thy soul,
With Christ to walk apart.

"Still upward till the day shall break,
And shadows all have flown;
Still upward till in Heaven you wake,
And stand before the throne."

We ought not to rest content in the mists of the valley when the summit of Tabor awaits us. How pure are the dews of the hills, how fresh is the mountain air, how rich the fare of the dwellers aloft, whose windows look into the New Jerusalem!

Many saints are content to live like men in coal mines, who see not the sun. Tears mar their faces when they might anoint them with celestial oil. Satisfied I am that many a believer pines in a dungeon when he might walk on the palace roof, and view the goodly land and Lebanon. Rouse thee, O believer, from thy low condition! Cast away thy sloth, thy lethargy, thy coldness, or whatever interferes with thy chaste and pure love to Christ. Make Him the source, the center, and the circumference of all thy soul's range of delight. Rest no longer satisfied with thy dwarfish attainments. Aspire to a higher, a nobler, a fuller life. Upward to heaven! Nearer to God!
--Spurgeon

"I want to scale the utmost height,
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray, till heaven I've found,
Lord, lead me on to higher ground!"

Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our self-indulgence, what glory awaits us if only we had courage for the mountain climb, what blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God. --J. R. M

Till the Storm Passes By
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Mosie Lister

Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howl above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Good Morning, Thanks Pat for the devotion today.

Ria you always post such nice things every morning, the short poems and always a little scripture.

Now I have one to share also;

"Then those who honored the Lord spoke with each other, and the Lord listened and heard them. The names of those who honored the Lord and respected him were written in his preseence in a book to be remembered." Malachi 3:16 NCV
"Good people take care of their animals, but even the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel" Prov. 12:10

Good morning all!

What wonder devotions and posts.  Our small group is having a Bible study starting January 6.  I can't remember what it on right now.  Several was mentioned by Pastor Mark and I can't remember which one we are doing.  Just know that Mark hadn't done it before so it will be for him too.

It is to get to 61° here today but cloudy and overcast.  Quite a fog when I got out of bed.  Also it has been raining.  Better than snow!!!!

 >:( >:(Lost my post......... :-\ :'(

Pat and I were talking the other day about how so many people feel lonely and stressed during the holidays and I mentioned an old poem I remembered from years ago.  She asked me to look for it, and last night I found it, so will share it here.

                    HOW TO BE HAPPY

Are you almost disgusted with life, little man?
  I'll tell you a wonderful trick
That will bring you contentment if anything can,
  Do something for somebody, quick!

Are you awfully tired with play, little girl?
  Worried, discouraged, and sick--
I'll tell you the lovliest game in the world,
  Do something for somebody, quick!

Though it rains, like the rain of a flood, little man,
  And the clouds are forbidding and thick,
You can make the sun shine in your soul, little man,
  Do something for somebody, quick!

Though the skies are like brass overhead, little girl,
  And the walks like a well-heated brick,
And our earthly affairs in a terrible whirl,
  Do domething for somebody, quick!

I had this sent to me today.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain."

- Maya Angelou -

What a way to start the New Year, by changing what we can and changing our attitude for the rest.  In changing things, the act of falling on our knees,  causes change to happen.

Pat

What terrific information in here today!

Lots of quotes and devotionals and links!  This is so great!  Keep it up folks!

Cami

Good morning to all of you; sorry I haven;'t been here; I was visiting with my mother in law, Jean; she is one of those who get so depressed with the holidays near, so I hoped I helped her. I am not sure that she knows our Lord, so I do pray for her salvation. I hope all of you had a great Happy New Year, and pray all your dreams come true in 2004!
Love in Him,
Cami

Sonja..........

I then go outside, scream at the top of my voice, fire off a couple of rounds from my 3" mag, kick my dog, lay on my back and kick my feet.  No time for depression, too busy. ;D

BTW...........

We went to a friends for dinner last night in a moderate snow fall.  Rick lives higher in the mountains than we do, and by the time we arrived  the wind was really blowing the snow around.  By the time we left for home there was a true blizzard blowing horizontally, and it was a complete white-out.  Twenty five miles of very slow going.  It snowed all night and I have over a foot of snow to blow, shovel, and push.  I'm going to dress like I'm going to the Artic.  Have a bad cold.  The joys of living in N. Idaho. ;D

Anyone for a cup of hot chocolate?
