Morning Devotional...

Jesus, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.  And many charged him that he should hold his peace.
Mark 10:47-48

After receiving a gospel tract distributed on a university campus, one girl read the title aloud for her friend's benefit: "What Must I Do to Be Saved?"

She then remarked, "How pathetic!"

If you are seeking God's salvation, you can expect opposition, even from friends and family. But continue to behave as Bartimaeus did, and find the Saviour--"but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me" (Mk 10:48).

And He did!
--Wade LeBlanc, Sr.

My old companions, fare you well,
I will not go with you to hell;
I mean with Jesus Christ to dwell,
I will go.
--Newton

Hey! I'm first two days in a row!  Hello all!

Thanks so much, Pat, for the card.  That is really beautiful.

I can only weep for us.  He is so much happier.  He had a loving wife, a daughter, two sons, and a very dear friend of many years that proceeded him in death.  While I don't profess to know and understand all about how much we will "know" each other on the other side, just the knowledge that he is with them praising Jesus is enough for me.  The scene in Heaven can only be joyous :)

Thanks again.  Prayers are appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your loss Karma and Nards.  There is sorrow and rejoicing at the same time!  Sounds strange to non-believers.

I am so excited about tomorrow night that I cannot believe it.  We are heading to Sudbury at about 4:00 from North Bay, we have our tickets and will grab a Wendy's on the way.  The Passion is coming to North Bay on Friday.  So when John gets home he will go to see it as well.

Pat that midi was great.  The oil tank thing will work out.  Our oil company is willing to work with us, and help us save money.  John called them today and got all the facts, and things are not as harsh as we first were told.  It is interesting that things always come in seasons.  When we get through this rough season all will be well for the next season.  With all the disapointments and stressors we know that God is on the Throne and all will work out His way and in His timing.

The verse (Larry, Papa John) His ways are not our ways.  Don't you wish sometimes you could have a peep into what he sees?  I am sure a lot of broken hearts.

Well that is all for now
Love Judy

Nards and Karma.  I'm so sorry for your loss, and just have to smile at heaven's gain.  Sadness on our side, but rejoicing just beyond.  I'm praying for your family.

It's 10:43 pm here, Marilyn, and still as can be.  Maybe the storm will hit south of us.  We've had some rain, but nothing unusual.  We had sunshine today too.  I'm heading for bed now, and I guess if it gets wild, I'll wake up.  :)

Good morning Everyone.

Hallo Ria.. ;)

Hello Judy.

Crisp and sunny describes this little spot in Birmingham, England this morning.  Indeed very crisp, just another way of saying Brrr!

I received my March copy of "Christian Witness to Israel Herald" this morning.  There is an article re Mel Gibson and his film from the Jewish perspective. I will not expound on it here.  I don't expect to see the film myself., circumstances do not permit...

"However he (Mel) has admitted that his screenplay was based not so much on the Gospels as on the mystical visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich (a Stigmatist) whose reinterpretation of the passion included many details not found in the Gospels. These details it is claimed are the source of much of the anti-Semitic content of the original screen play, if not the final film.....This has led the critical scholars to cry out "Scripture alone"...shows a negative picture of Jewish society and leadership...Mel Gibson of course,  has his agenda too.  His project, funded largely from his own cheque book, appears to be a traditional act of Roman Catholic devotion.  Just as Medieval Kings built cathedrals and commissioned great works of art depicting the crucifixion, a Hollywood superstar is now offering his own substantial contribution .
"The Passion of Christ" looks to be an artistic tour-de-force, cinemagoers will do doubt be deeply moved by the experience of seeing it and the controversy surrounding the movie will be with us for some time to come."  (Howard Fleming(Gen Sec C.W.I.)and Mike Moore.)

Good Morning everyine.  It is -5*C here and there is a light snowfall coming down.  Well we are seasoned winter drivers so we will be alright.

I had a rough night last night.  Have a real bad headache.  Time for a cup of tea snd that will help end it.

Jake is outside and is ir ever fun to watch him.. Our neighbour has a big bushy beard and a dog Jake hates.  Is it ever funny to watch him stand guard on our front porch watching every move Donny makes.  If the dog would even think of walking across the road, Jake barks and sends the neighbours running with his tail between his legs.  We get a kick out of his antics.

Rachelle Haven't seen you in the last few days, How are things going?

Well bye for now, I have to call Mother.

I've not heard this particular evaluation before.  That's interesting.  I do understand that there are a lot of things "added" that perhaps were not the kind of the things the gospel writers would record - Mary's thoughts, memories, the viewpoints of other characters.

Yes, Mel is a Catholic, and that carries a heavy insinuation that he is doing this as a religious deed in itself.

I really hope that the message of the cross is not buried in an avalanche of false concerns about anti-Semitism and Catholic "agendas".

I find it curious, and almost humorous, that Jesus died on a ROMAN cross, and now a ROMAN Catholic has dramatized it in such a high profile manner.

I am so sorry to hear of Nard and Karma's loss of Nard's grandfather.  I loved it when you said 'celebration'.  I believe this is the time to celebrate ones life and not dwell on the death.  What a wonderful thought of Nard's grandfather running on the golden streets of heaven.  He is free of pain and suffering and is having a time of his life!  He is celebrating his first day of eternal life.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming days.

I had never heard anything like this before.  In fact, the opposite.  He said it is based on the four Gospels.  Perhaps a Catholics interpretation but on the four Gospels.  He previewed the movie to several hundred, perhaps thousands of people to be sure it was true to the Gospels.  It amazes me how there are so many interpretations of 'The Passion of the Christ' and it isn't even out yet.  Well, it is today!  But you know what I mean.  If the ones who are having a problem with this film would realize that Christians will not put the blame of Christ's death on anyone but themselves then there would be no controversy.  It is said that 80% of Americans are Christians.  That's a big chunk of people who will know that all mankind is who killed Jesus Christ.  Perhaps, just perhaps, and MHO, maybe those who have a controversy feels guilty because it was the Jews who physically killed Jesus but spititually, we all killed Jesus.

And I have to wait until Saturday to see the film.   :'(

I received this in an email today.  The pictures are wonderful.  The message is wonderful and the music in the backgound is great, too.  Check it out on

Karma and Bernards, I am sorry for your loss, but happy he is up in Heaven with Jesus.  That is awesome.  I will keep your family in my prayers this week.

Our radio statio out of Rapid City has seen the movie (The Passion of Christ) and were talking about it this morning.  There is so much talk about this movie that I pray it causes everyone to go see it just to see what the talk is about and when the do I pray they feel the presence of God.
I am excited to see it tonight.

We did get Zachery on a new medication, so hopefully he will be on the road to recovery now.
Thanks all for the prayers.  :D

I am in the process of moving things around the house and doing laundry so I better get going or I will never get done.

Later folks.

Jenny, I  have watched "The Making of the Passion" three times now, and listened to two separate interviews with Mel Gibson, and NOTHING like the quote you put in was mentioned!  I think, as Mel himself said, "there is a lot of opposition....a LOT of opposition."  While he didn't say so specifically, I felt he was attributing this opposition to our chief enemy, the devil, who hates having Jesus glorified in any way, let alone in this way that has the entire world watching.  I believe Mel Gibson is a born again Catholic, and his intent in making this movie is to give God the glory.  When asked what he hoped it will cause people to do, he answered, "I hope it will cause them to READ THE BOOK!!"  (Emphasis mine.)

I am really looking forward to reading the comments of everyone who attends the movie---all ages.  I pray we will all be changed by the experience.

I got in my half-mile swim this morning! ;D  I feel so much better when I get my exercise!

I think I will open my card reader and start reading the instructions........... ::)

JanetI pray that the Lord will use it for His glory .

I owe much to the Roman Catholic Church and I thank God for dear Saint Francis and Saint Pio. I am not in any way ashamed to own that.

My quote was as I said a quote from the Missionaries to Israel.

"The Glory of the Gospel is not simply that the Messsiah suffered but that He suffered for us."

Zach and all of you
Enjoy the film...

Jenny.

Etta Sue.........

Like most everyone else, I've not heard where Mel Gibson has injected anything unscriptural into his film other than perhaps flash backs to Jesus' youth.  If he has, anything other than the single event when He was twelve years old would be fiction.  If Mel speaks of their journey to Bethlehem, or to Egypt, then we know these things to be true to the Gospels.  You made mention that you've heard that 80% of Americans are Christians.  I don't doubt you heard it, but I strongly disagree with the poll, as Jesus has said that "Few" will enter the kingdom of heaven."  The 80% most likely comes from a secular source who believes everyone who isn't a Jew, Muslim, Shinto, etc.  Actually, church goers are in the minority and most folks stay home on Sunday.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have a full day but wanted to post before the day got away.

Nards, I send my condolences to you, your mother and all your family.  It is always difficult to lose a dear loved one even when we know it is time for them to be called home to end this eartly suffering.

The funeral of a friend I attended yesterday was truly a celebration of the man's life.  He and his wife had been married for 55 years.

I did watch about half of the program on PAX TV last night on the making of the Mel Gibson movie.  We will likely go to see it but not right away.

Janet, hope the card reader solves the problems you are having getting your photos onto your computer.

Zachery, I will be interested to read your comments on the movie.  Sonja, glad that you will be attending at the same time.  Do hope the new meds do the trick to get rid of the infection for Zachery.

Ria, hope the doctor finds that your toe is healing quickly.

Pat, I really liked that little verse at the end of the devotional today.  Makes one think.

JudyB, glad to hear that things are working out with the oil tank and that Melaura solved the problem with the water pump.  I know these things can be so frustrating.

Marilyn, I hope you didn't get blown away during the night.  I see you haven't posted yet today so wonder if you lost power.

The saga of car repair continues with the car my daughter drives.  We took it in yesterday morning and they still have it but should be hearing from them sometime today.  Unfortunately the parts that we thought were going to be around $220 were not the right parts and the actual parts, the catalytic converters, will cost over $700 plus the labor.  I need a month without car repair.  However, if I don't get it fixed I can't get the tags for the car so really had no choice as don't want to get another car at this point.

We will be leaving for Florida very early in the morning and plan to do the 10 hour drive to St. Petersburg.  The entire trip is by Interstate so isn't difficult driving.  We are suppose to have sleet and much colder weather her this evening but they don't think it will get too bad.  If it is slick in the morning we will delay our departure and then not go all the way tomorrow.  I plan to take my laptop so should be able to check in from down there but if I don't post until about next Tuesday don't worry about me as we are just having too good a time at the cousin's reunion in St. Pete.  There will only be 10 of us this year rather than the 14 we have had in previous years.  One of the two aunts, the one we planned to pick up in Orlando, is not feeling well and was in the hospital last weekend, so she is not going to be able to attend.

Elizabeth

Jenny, you are not alone in having read that.  I also read some of the ugly language Mel Gibson used to describe a critic of his film.  Not the words of any Christian that I know.  Guess this one is up to God, not man.  My prayer is that the non-Christians will not be permanently damaged by the publicity.  My son-in-law is a Catholic and I understand he leaves the room in digust when it is mentioned.

God Bless.  Liz

As a child growing up in Toronto we were surrounded by fields.  When I was wee, I remember going through the fields to "that girl's" house.  That girl was our cousin, Ruthie's sister Lorraine.  Through the years I have always felt a bond of friendship with Lorraine.  Another dear friend was Beverly.  In recent emails, including one attached to the previous post of mine, we have kept up to date.  She is not well as well her husband Bob has been very ill.  I have invited Bev to join us here.  Bev is a Minister and has services in 2 churches.  Please lift her up in prayer as her burden is heavy.

This is from Chicken Soup for the Soul..........good story!

Banking at It's Best
By Sharon Borjesson
When my son was a young teenager, he and his friend set out on a bus across town to purchase skateboard axles. They each had $20. When they arrived downtown, they discovered they needed more money to cover bus fare and sales tax. They were short $3.75.

A branch of our bank was nearby, so they decided to go in and take out a loan. The teller told them that was not possible, but that they could get a cash advance on their parents' credit card. So they called home, but got no answer. They tried the teller again to see if anything more could be done. She referred them to the desk of the vice president. When he asked why the bank should give them a loan, they answered, "Because we're Boy Scouts and good students, and very trustworthy." He said that since they had no collateral, they would have to write out and sign an IOU. They did, and he in turn gave them the money they needed to complete their mission.

We found out later that this wonderful man lent the boys his own money. (My husband called him the next day asking for the same terms on a home loan!) In talking with the man, we learned that he had made many such loans, including a large one to a Navy wife whose allotment was delayed. He said he's been repaid almost 100 percent of the time, and that the opportunity to help others in this way was one of the most rewarding parts of his job.

My son and his friend hopped on the bus the very next morning. They paid off their loan and received their IOU signed by the vice president. It was banking at its best.

I am leaving here shortly to meet up with my friends to go to Sudbury.  I will be back to give a report.

I have asked Bonnie to come and look after the girls, as I feel being gone that long will overwhelm Melaura.  The girls do like to push, But having her arrive will be a benefit.

A sad site this day.  2 dead skinned beavers left for the dogs to eat.  One an adult one a baby.  We have a beaver pond on our property, and it appears someone is poaching.  This is sad.

Well soon time to leave so Bye for now,
Love Judy.
