Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi everyone.  It has been a busy day and I didn't have time to post this morning although some of the postings then.  This was our monthly luncheon at the Senior Center and we had an interesting speaker on a system where you put your medical history, medicines, allergies, contacts, etc. in a little plastic folder that stays on the side of the refrigerator in a little sleeve that has a magnet.  Then on your entry door you post this little red sticker that alerts the firemen or police to look for such information should they be called in an emergency.  It is the type of thing that you hope you will never need but it might save your life or help authorities alert the proper persons in an emergency.  Following the delicious lunch and program I went to the church for Calvin Cove.  Today we sang hymns.

Pat, the devotional really spoke to me today and certainly made me think of the times I spent with my folks during the last years and days of their lives.  Both happy and sad memories.

Lee, I agree with your comments.  As long as we keep our focus on Jesus Christ as our saviour then the other things we may discuss and agree or disagree on are  not that significant.

Welcome to left-wing_sinner.

Etta Sue, to boot up your computer in safe mode (i.e., only loading the essential drivers for Windows) as the computer boots up keep pressing the F8 key and it will give you a screen that one of the options will be safe mode.  You may be having other things load in the background that you don't even know about when you boot up regularly.  Then go ahead and see if you can't load the software and reboot to put Windows back into its regular mode.

Kim, I was interested to see you are teaching a computer class.  I have been involved with our local SeniorNet Learning Center for several years.  This is where we teach seniors to use computers.  I know that Pat has also taught some classes for seniors.

Ria, sorry to hear that the various things your husband has tried for snoring hasn't helped.  I know that can be quite a problem.  My wife tells me I don't snore very often anymore since I lost quite a bit of weight.

I guess I have worn myself out today as don't seem to have much to say so will sign off for now.  It was good seeing everyone posting.

JudyB I know the difference between a Cup of tea (hot) and a glass of tea (iced). Home form work now, and doing Bea's laundry, I prefer doing it  at home rather thatn in the washers in the laundry rooms at the apartment complex where she lives.

Just checking in to let you know I am here.

Gosh, just think you will have all those questions answered in Glory...

I can see Isaiah and Jeremiah, Daniel and Ezekiel,  etc., etc. all queueing up to talk to you there.

I know you have your place booked.

Won't it be wonderful!!!

Jenny  ;)

Judy McKenna

Hello friends:

I'm just checking in to see what you've all been doing.

I've had company for most of the afternoon., so was unable to get here earlier.

Now its time to find something for our supper.  After a large dinner at noon, I'm hoping something light like bacon and eggs will do!

I'd like some ideas on what you gals do when you have had a heavier than normal lunch....toasted open face sandwiches are an idea......hmm....
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

JudyB

Yes Jenny it will be wonderful.  I would really like to talk to Peter and Paul.  Of cour=se there is Joshua, and Deborah.... shucks I just can't wait!

Phil 1:21 For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain!

Well we are all taking it easy today, all under the weather.

Have a good afternoon /evening.

JudyB

Jeanne Lee

Good afternoon, everyone.

Well, it is March.   :-\  We did get up to about 40 this afternoon, but it's cloudy and damp feeling and it's been snowing very, very lightly almost all day.  Next, though, comes April.   ;D

Gene and I believe it's very important to say "I love you" often during the day and never to leave the house or go to bed without a kiss and one more "I love you".  At our age it's always possible that could be the last thing we'll have heard.  I'd never want to think that I had a chance to remind him how much I love him and didn't, and then never be able to again.

And it's just as important to say "I love you Jesus" at any odd moment, too.   :-*

Hey look who is online !

karmat, Marilyn Fisher, Gareth Parkes, Jeanne Lee
This is one of those days , NEM is slow and so are everyone around my house.

I am going to veg with a good book,  Supper is done, so a lazy evening.

JudyB

Gareth Parkes

Hi JudyB, question... a semi-truck driver; does that mean you drive a semi truck , or are you only partly a driver?  We Englishmen need educating with Americanese :P

Jenny

Ha ha...Gareth.  I was just coming in to ask Judy

Judy B
What is "going to 'veg' with a good book?"..I thought veg was something you eat with roast meat, gravy etc.,

I see 'you' go to bed with veg?

I am going to bed with a John Grisholm novel.

Sleep tight Judy.
God Bless.
Jenny X

JudyB

Gareth, I drive the American style of semi truck as does my husband Bonesy.  We have driven all over the United Stater, and John has been in all  10 provinces.  We drove team for the most part although the last summer I drove solo.  We had the time of our lives, working together.  I had a good time as a solo driver as well.  The Euorpean truck is smaller than the American, your roads are too small for these trucks.  Hope this helps.

Gareth Parkes

Ta JudyB, my only knowledge of trucks is being stuck behind them on the M25 or M1 in tailbacks that never end.   Have a great evening.  Bless you.

JudyB

Jenny my dear..... I am doubling up laughing at your question.  As I am laughing Kassie is saying, "I have an earache, what is so funny about that?"

OK.....

No to "veg" means that I am going to do nothing but sit/lie and read.  A person in a vegetative atate has no life functions, I will be breathing and heart will be beating but I will be blocking out all around me.   John says I am boreing when I do this.  The book I am working on is Winner Take All by T Davis Bunn.  An excellent book that I have beed reading 2 pages at a time at bedtime.  It is time to get serious about it.

Oh and Jenny, you are reading another of my favourite authors.  Have you read The Testament?

JudyB

#42
Gareth.... The main thing I woud say to any car driver is to stay far enough back so you can see both of the drivers mirrors.  The mistake most people make is that they get in behind the trailler of a "semi-truck" and the driver of the truck cannot see that you are there,   Also it slows down your reaction time, as you cannot see ahead of him and what is coming.  If there is an animal that runs across the road, he will apply the breaks, if you are too close you may not break in time.  You will be hurt and he is big enough to walk away from the accident.

Be careful and drive safely.

Gareth Parkes

Yes, you are right, but it would also mean you are travelling at more  than 10 miles an hour.  A pleasant luxury here in the UK.

JudyB

Gareth ..... yes it would.   What are the speed limite there, on the highway and in town?

Jenny

11. 20 p./m. England.

Judy...Yes I have read The Testament, The Brethren and his others  all except his latest.  The name of it escapes me.

Talking of Names escaping...Have you read "My Name Escapes Me" (an enchantment...Dirk Bogarde comments) and "Blessings In Disguise"(fascinating. The Spectator)  by Alec Guinness.  Now he had a wonderful dry sense of humour.  I found both of these un-putdownable.

I am a great fan of Steve Martini Judy...I prefer him to J.G. nowadays...His "Critical Mass" is Brilliant!!!

Enjoy the luxury of the veggie state. Happy reading sister.

Luv U.
Jenny.

JudyB

Jenny........ Martini is John's favourite writer.  I try to get the books before he has a chance to read them, He really doesn't mind, as he knows he will have it back in a day or two!.

See if you can get any T Davis Bunn books.  He is amazing as an author, and periodically teams up with Janette Oke.  You will enjoy his writing if you like Martini.

I am out of here, Going to have a bubble bath and then into vegetative state.  LOL

Jenny

O.K. Judy... I have written that down.  Thanks!

good night,
God Bless.
Jenny. :-*

Judy McKenna

Oh my... all this talk about "vegging out" with a good book.  I'm reading "Whats so Amazing about Grace"., by Phillip Yancy.  Its a book that will change your life.

Has anyone here read it?

Time to have a bubble bath, and get back into MY book.....if I can get away from C.P. ;)

I haven't read that, Judy but I think some were talking about it in our Book Nook.  Not sure though. Might have been a different one...or maybe it was you asking about it.

Last night as I lay on my bed sniffling and snuffing (and yes, blowing my nose, LEE!!), I was listening to a Billy Graham Crusade meeting on the TV.

George Beverly Shea sang and my goodness, he's so old but he sure can still sing.

This is what he sang...

Out of The Ivory Palaces
(Click to hear music)

All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes,
and cassia, out of the ivory palaces,
whereby they have made thee glad."
Psalm 45:8

My Lord has garments so wondrous fine,
And myrrh their texture fills;
Its fragrance reached to this heart of mine,
With joy my being thrills.

Chorus
Out of the ivory palaces,
Into a world of woe,
Only His great, eternal love
Made my Savior go.

In garments glorious He will come,
To open wide the door;
And I shall enter my heavenly home,
To dwell forevermore.

Chorus
Out of the ivory palaces,
Into a world of woe,
Only His great, eternal love
Made my Savior go.

Regular guy

Hello everyone.

I am new here, and it is odd that today as I went to work, I was thinking about these things. I have heard it said that when a loved one passes away, we "lose" that person. But if they are a follower of our Lord, then we know where they are, so they aren't really lost. Are they?

What we have lost though is the ability to have relationship with that person because they are there, and we're here. But if death is a thin veil that separates this life from eternal life, then it really isn't that far away from any of us. Is it? Here is the thought that has me intrigued though. Jesus said that He came to give us "life", not two separate lives, (here and then there), but one life. So, that makes death seem less of a feared enemy. These are just a few things I have been thinking on lately. Not a popular topic, but my dad was close to passing in January, so it has been on my mind. Oh, he is better now.

Well, I guess after re-reading this post, it might seem like a dark hello, but not really, so as you get to know me, and we develop "relationships" here, you will come to see that at times I grab hold of a thought and my thinking goes in circles....sorry if this drives some of you nuts, I am just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the opportunity to speak. I'll pass the stick to someone else now.

Monty

Monty: It is so nice to see your face and  read your post. From the looks of you photo and your tag line I am assuming you are Native American. How wonderful. to have you join us here.

You are so right about that thin veil that runs between life and death. But like you Said Jesus came to give us life.,( I will fininsh that )and life more abundantly.

Tell us about yourself.

Monty, I'm so glad to see you here.

I've really appreciated reading your thoughts and hopefully you'll share more.  It's so good that you got this website from Pinkie's list.  It's sad that that list has gone now but Pinkie lost her Yahoo ID and couldn't access it.

Now, send lots of photos!  I'll post them for you.

I'm also so glad that your father is ok.  It's sad when one of our loved ones becomes ill.

Judy, I've read What's So Amazing About Grace and also The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey.  He's an excellent author.

Pat, we watched Billy Graham's Crusade, too, and were pleased to see (and hear) George Beverly Shea.  We have one of his CD's and love to play it.  We were also pleasantly surprised to see how well Billy Graham appeared to be.

Monty .... it is so good to meet you.  My sentiments, on a Christian dying, run parallel to yours.

9:30 and I am ready for bed.  The Girls had baths tonight so that left me out for my bubble bath, Careful with the well you know.

Night all see you tomorrow evening.

Well, here it is well into the evening and I am just now writing anything though I have stopped by several times today.

It is good to hear from each one.  I want to give a special
WELCOME TO MONTY, THE REGULAR GUY

Monty, I believe you are thinking about something we all think about.  When a love one dies we do "lose" that person in that he or she is no longer with us to see, to talk to, to live with.  We lost my mother 25 years ago.  But my mother lives and when the Lord calls me home I will live and I believe I will see her again.

You are right.  Jesus came to give us life.  Jesus said, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."  John 10:10-11

It is good to see everyone here today.  Have a good night's rest.
